I am looking for a Rom that support recording audio calls. I remember looking at some roms a while back on here and it had a screen capture of the call screen and it showed a record button. I have tried searching but there are so many roms it's hard to find what I'm looking for, so I figured asking people that keep better on tabs on certain roms will already know which one supports it
That feature is not ROM dependent. There are apps to record calls, but since this varies in legality from state to state they are hard to find. In CA both parties must be informed of the recording or it is illegal. Did you look in the Themes and Apps forum?
I know you can use apps and such, but the closet thing I ever found was stuff like it would only record both sides of the conversation if you had speaker phone turned on. That's why I was looking for the rom, it appeared to be nicely integrated and didn't require speakerphone to be in use to record. I am also aware of the laws regarding call recording. I do computer repair and it'd be nice to record directions or symptons instead of trying to quickly jot them down.
It was a feature included in the phoenix rom. Not sure what other ones. I know that it only works on froyo roms.

It does. works great.
Some of the 2.2.1 based roms have this feature. Check the logs. There isnt one with it for 2.3.3+ yet so you will need to go with Froyo if you want it built into the rom
As stated previously, the Firefly 3.0 ROM (a fantastic Rom) had it. If you look in the forum you can find that particular file

Continuum v4 also had it. Its a great rom too. I used the call recording all the time, worked well. The apps that record calls don't work very well
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Yes, Continuum 4 does have it but if you go with continuum, go with version 4.1. It also has call recording but it has updated modem and some other great apps included. But you can't flash 4.1 from stock. I am on 4.1 and plan to stay on it for a while.
most of the 2.2 and the 2.2.1 roms have it...head over to darky roms website to check out the call recording apk...

So is there any way that any of the devs can make the Skype app with video calling work on the latest rooted OTA? I'm still steering clear of GB out of bricking fear.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
There is no more bricking fear w/ GB. It's stable and very nice. If you really need skype, then it's something worth trying out.
I don't necessarily need it per se, but I've been wanting to try out a non-fail video calling app. Trying to call some friends with VZW iPhone 4's and Tango sucks. It's great on my end, but all they hear is static and it's very difficult for them to hear me on their end. Thinking I might try out Fring and possibly Qik, and hope for better success. I'm just kind of assuming that Skype will be the best of all.
There is a working Skype with video apk lurking around forums...

Not for Froyo, it's GB only. Doesn't matter anymore though, I'm running Gingeritis 1.2 now. Based on the new GB base leak. Super fast and hella stable!

Thats actually false. Skype Mobile 1.0.1.1025 was hacked and worked perfectly on FroYo. I wouldn't leave FroYo actually for a while because it was only working on FroYo. The new 2.0.0.45 hacked version on the other hand needs GB so I'm on CM7!

Did that version support video calls? If so, I stand corrected, however after much digging around I was unable to locate that. Either way, I dislike two things about Skype. #1, it only makes video calls in landscape mode. #2, I either have to get a heads up text to tell me to log into Skype so I can receive a video call, or stay signed into it all the time and have that annoying icon in the notification bar, which I'm not willing to do, heh.
Yahoo is pretty good wit videos calls
Hey guys I just got my thrill today. I don't know if there is any rom's currently able to run on this device but I do have the source code downloaded and plan on trying to create a rom but has there been a full back method found yet like tegra2 devices have nvflash?
Best of luck. Waiting for it.

You can make nandroid backups available through CWM, check out designgear's thread
Edit: Oh yeah, and my suggestion for a ROM? I would love a ROM that comes debloated, deodexed and zip aligned (just for easier theming - that does make theming / sharing themes easier, right?), has the speed tweeks/optimizations available for the Optimus 3D, obviously AT&T radio, and if I can dream a little, several more preinstalled fonts, LP or a psuedo gingerbready launcher, and some light theming with some matching backgrounds* and a matching bootup animation. A kernel that allows for OC would be nice to have I guess, but I can't imagine using it to be honest; the battery life is so bad already.
Good luck!
*If you know what colors you're using, I'd be happy to find or create matching backgrounds and/or a boot animation if you want.
If Possible and a big IF considering I have yet to see a device not HTC Branded that uses Sense but Would love to see a sense type Rom IF possible. Also would love an OC kernel considering battery isn't really an issue for me considering I am Always by a power source, that and I sit at home all day lol. Even if I didn't I would probably Underclock and Undervolt for battery Life than OC at night when I got home and wanted to do stuff on the phone.
I am looking through everything for the LG Optimus and I'm scouring the Texas Instruments site to see if I can find something there.

HEHE yes thank you so so much
I was able to get it to work most of the way but missing the .dll file for the p925 instead of p920 and I can't get the stupid flashtool it provides to even startup on my pc. I'm on win 7. I'm going to harrass the hell out of LG and see if I can pull some kind of info from them
When I upgraded to ICS, I (and everyone else) lost the built-in voice dialer in Android 2.3.4. See the Vivid General forum for details on this. I tried Vlingo, and it worked okay most of the time, but it required a lot of steps. So, I tried Cyberon Voice Commander and was pleased with how well it worked and how closely it matched the original voice dialer when connected to my car's audio system via bluetooth. See my post for more details.

There may be other apps that work, so I am not saying this is the only one.

Yes, I saw posts on that. However, because of all the "crash and burn" posts from people trying to install custom ROMs, I think I'm going to wait a while. There is still too much transition right now between GB and ICS, and with S-Off possibly coming "soon."
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

That is due to people not understanding the process of flashing a ROM, kernel, etc. There are video guides, written directions, and people who can help to flash correctly. It is real simple if you read and know what to do.

No issues here, although I have posted a lot to help others who are having trouble! I can understand how with limited knowledge it can be scary to root your phone, flash a rom, etc. but only if you didn't read up on what you are doing and rush through the steps. Before I got this phone I read about the steps and then when I got it felt comfortable and did everything. I know enough now that if something did happen I could get out of the problem without help.
To each his own IMO, if he wants to wait its the choice he's made ... But I do believe that myself , MEGATRON and most of WC'S illegitimate children could update h-boot or flash a new Rom blindfolded or heavily intoxicated lol, its gotten that easy
I've flashed the phone two times, unlocked and rooted. It has become much easier. I frankly don't want to set the phone up again.
Also, with custom ROMs you usually trade one problem for another. They usually aren't perfect.
BTW, thanks megatronisabeast for all your help to others.

I hate to grave dig old topics but this is really bugging me. Again, I have stock ICS so dialed in. I am trying to avoid flashing.
Skyvi has actually come a LONG way towards becoming a Siri-esque app. It just won't wake or activate from a BT headset.
What is everyone lease doing? Flashing custom ROM?

Well, I installed Cyberon Voice Speed Dial and it works well as a voice dialer for bluetooth devices. My Parrot car kit dials really well with it installed on the phone.
Not sure if this is what you were originally after but hope it helps.

I tried Cyberon Voice Command, but, while I can activate it by bluetooth, I still have to speak directly to the phone. Tried with different bluetooth sets, still the same. Will try VSP.
Thanks.
Hey frustrated voice dialing crew!
Last night I stumbled upon Voice Control by Luka Kama. There's a free version called Voice Control Test.
Its contact recognition is pretty accurate. It can also do voice to text. For me, the downside is it tries to do too much. It is expanding to Siri-like functionality which I find pointless. It also has a LED graphic like Knight Rider's KITT which is retro-wierd.
+1 for the Knight Rider reference

I got screwed up by the stupid AT&T update... it only half finished. I don't know why. I kept telling it NO, not to update. But at some point it must have on a reboot. In the update section it says, "Continue update" but clicking that does absolutely nothing.
UNFORTUNATELY, now I have NO WIFI and NO BLUETOOTH. Can't see any wifi routers now, and can't see any bluetooth devices. UGH! DAMN AT&T! I didn't even ask for an update. SO....
HELP ME PICK A ROM!
I used to flash ROMs on my older PocketPC phones... I flashed a Gingerbread ROM on my Galaxy Tab, and I flashed a ROM on my HTC Aria.
So tell me what your opinions are about some ROMs. Here's some features I'd like to have:
- ICS
- Newest Sense
- HTC's button dial command and voice dial that was left out of ICS (bastards).
- Native wifi hotspot
If there's a ROM that combines that and is STABLE, tell me about it! I want opinions.
There's really only one option and it's not on xda.
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda premium
Are you just gonna leave me hanging with that?
I'm by no means an expert, but I've recently taken the dive into helping a friend with his AT&T Vivid. After looking around at all the ICS ROMs out there, the one I settled on was Extreme Holiday Dream X2...doesn't have the newest sense version, but it's running 3.6, so it's fairly recent. Also (again, not an expert), I'm not sure any newer version of sense would work on the Vivid.
Now as a heads up, most people don't seem to have issues with the ROM (and it is a very nice one), but we have had some problems that may or may not be related. First is WiFi constantly attempting to turn on and never working, which I think I've narrowed down to the fact the ROM uses the stock kernel, so I'll be attempting to fix that tonight.
Other problem is the ROM Toolbox not working, though I think that may be linked to the way I rooted the device since SU isn't giving permissions to it (set to auto-allow). That I'll be attempting to fix with SuperSU.
I know this ROM is stable for just about everyone else so far (no actual known bugs), but I don't know if it meets your last two prerequisites, since I'm not really all that familiar with Android devices in general yet. I'll ask my friend and see if he knows.
Due to my permissions right now as a new member, I can't link you to it, but you should be able to find it by googling. The thread I found was on rootzwiki.
Hope this helps. If I find out more about the button dial/voice dial and native WiFi hotspot support, I'll let you know.
EDIT: So I asked about the features, seems like it has the button dialer and native WiFi Hotspot, but not the voice dialer. I'm sure there's an app for it, but it's not native.

Hello everybody,
This is my first post on this forum, although I have been an avid reader for almost a year. I got the courage to register and post because right now I'm really interested in buying a HTC One.
My question to those who already have the One is: Can you record a voice call (phone call) on the One? (with the stock rom).
I know last years' One X couldn't record calls.
(I sure hope I didn't break the forum rules and that this question has already been posted and answered. That Youtube video for those who registered was frightening [haha ]. I swear I've searched the forum).
i am also curious about this. i use call recorder by skvalex and want to know if BT headset call recording (2 way) is supported on the HTC one. can someone who has an htc one please download the call recorder app by skvalex from google play and try it out?
You'll need to use an app for this. I doubt any major Android phone (or any phone) will offer this as a direct feature simply because of the legality.
Most places have laws against recording a phone call without first requesting permission from the other person on the line. It's quite messy.

Yes and the post above yours says which app to try.
(Actually skvalex has posted an apk of the beta version here on XDA that works for a few days if you want to try it out for free)
The question is not whether there are apps, but rather does the stock *kernel* enable the apps to function as intended?
Historically, stock HTC kernels do not, but it is easy for devs to enable the feature in custom built ones.
