Hello everybody,
This is my first post on this forum, although I have been an avid reader for almost a year. I got the courage to register and post because right now I'm really interested in buying a HTC One.
My question to those who already have the One is: Can you record a voice call (phone call) on the One? (with the stock rom).
I know last years' One X couldn't record calls.
(I sure hope I didn't break the forum rules and that this question has already been posted and answered. That Youtube video for those who registered was frightening [haha ]. I swear I've searched the forum).
i am also curious about this. i use call recorder by skvalex and want to know if BT headset call recording (2 way) is supported on the HTC one. can someone who has an htc one please download the call recorder app by skvalex from google play and try it out?
You'll need to use an app for this. I doubt any major Android phone (or any phone) will offer this as a direct feature simply because of the legality.
Most places have laws against recording a phone call without first requesting permission from the other person on the line. It's quite messy.

Yes and the post above yours says which app to try.
(Actually skvalex has posted an apk of the beta version here on XDA that works for a few days if you want to try it out for free)
The question is not whether there are apps, but rather does the stock *kernel* enable the apps to function as intended?
Historically, stock HTC kernels do not, but it is easy for devs to enable the feature in custom built ones.

If this has been asked already, I apologize, but is there a way to have full screen pics for the caller id? Like in the iphone?
Thank you.
Not that I personally know of... I recommend having a look through market as well for something like that. I'll have a look for you when I get in front of a computer though (of other people haven't solved it foe you by then)

I am looking for a Rom that support recording audio calls. I remember looking at some roms a while back on here and it had a screen capture of the call screen and it showed a record button. I have tried searching but there are so many roms it's hard to find what I'm looking for, so I figured asking people that keep better on tabs on certain roms will already know which one supports it
That feature is not ROM dependent. There are apps to record calls, but since this varies in legality from state to state they are hard to find. In CA both parties must be informed of the recording or it is illegal. Did you look in the Themes and Apps forum?
I know you can use apps and such, but the closet thing I ever found was stuff like it would only record both sides of the conversation if you had speaker phone turned on. That's why I was looking for the rom, it appeared to be nicely integrated and didn't require speakerphone to be in use to record. I am also aware of the laws regarding call recording. I do computer repair and it'd be nice to record directions or symptons instead of trying to quickly jot them down.
It was a feature included in the phoenix rom. Not sure what other ones. I know that it only works on froyo roms.

It does. works great.
Some of the 2.2.1 based roms have this feature. Check the logs. There isnt one with it for 2.3.3+ yet so you will need to go with Froyo if you want it built into the rom
As stated previously, the Firefly 3.0 ROM (a fantastic Rom) had it. If you look in the forum you can find that particular file

Continuum v4 also had it. Its a great rom too. I used the call recording all the time, worked well. The apps that record calls don't work very well
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Yes, Continuum 4 does have it but if you go with continuum, go with version 4.1. It also has call recording but it has updated modem and some other great apps included. But you can't flash 4.1 from stock. I am on 4.1 and plan to stay on it for a while.
most of the 2.2 and the 2.2.1 roms have it...head over to darky roms website to check out the call recording apk...
Hi,
Is there a way to enable video calls on the phone?

I was wondering the same...
I don't see the "button" for video calls but, if the phone have a frontal camera it will be for that, right?
Here in "white africa", Poland (sorry to people of Africa...), I can't do video call because that technology didn't arrived here yet...
In Portugal and Italy I start to do video calls since 2003 or 2005 (now I don't remeber very well), ages ago, here I can't even change the basic settings by phone commands.
When I type *111# in the most part of the countries I have access to a few options from the network provider, here is "unknown command"...
But back to the question, how to do video calls with O4X ?
Skype. Is one of the apps u can video call with.
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
There video call on the 4X

Skype is nice, but not all people have Skype. Is it possible to do video calls over the mobile network?
Tango, Google Talk, those are a few other apps and there are more in the app. Store if u can't find any that won't work then that is really something the phone can't change. I mean one of them should work. U also can use fring or nimbuzz. And people can easily sign up for Skype. It's free.

I'm not talking about apps!
I'm talking about a normal video call...
In other phones when I select a contact I have the options:
*Call
*Video call
**Send message
In this one only normal calls and messages...
How am I suppose to do a video call to a normal phone (that supports video calls, of course) if the person that I want to call don't have an android or iOS or Windows mobile??? Or even if it do, don't have Skype or other app for that???

I believe all android phones (probably all smartphones as well but as I don't own any others, I don't know) are incapable of video calling natively. I remember asking this question when I had my old phone (a motorola milestone) and searching the forums a while back. I doubt it will be implemented in the future but that's just me.

Being like that technology is going backwards... This is a phone and is supposed to make calls and video calls! If I want to use Skype, messenger or other, I use a computer or a pad (cause it's meant to be something between a computer and a phone), but a phone should have a phone function before any other.

It does has a phone option. And video calls are always over dedicated apps like Skype tango Google chat and so on. Just except it. That's just how it is. And I also don't see the issue that an app has to be used for it.

Or I'm dumb or the rest is much smarter than me...
How can I do a call to someone who don't have the specific app that I'm using?
How can I do a call to someone who don't even have a smartphone???
That's my issue!!!
I was looking around and its true... only with a 3rd party app... stupid android!

from skype you're able to call to any mobiles and landlines network... and sometimes it can be even cheaper
Well it is really then the other people's issue to not having an smartphone or just signing up for Skype tango Google chat and so they are all free to use. So it isn't really android or lg fault. If people don't have it then that is really there issue. I have no issues video call any of my people because pretty much everyone has a laptop or a smart phone that uses a video call app from some sort. Just except it.

Listen people...
I know that I can use a lot of apps to enter in a video chat, I'm talking about VIDEO CALL!!! Or to explain myself better, in a video phone call!!!
Am I talking chinese???
Since a lot of years ago that operators, Wind in Italy, Optimus and all others in Portugal and a lot of others in other countries offer the video call.
Just need a phone with UMTS, don't need to be a "smart" phone, and the soo much advanced android can't provide that???
Is not an issue of who don't have an android, because they have the possibility to do video call. It's mine, cause even having a f*cking expensive phone, in video calls (not video chat!!!) its useless.
I accept because I don't have other choice.
And it doesn't matter windows phone 7.5 or 8 can't iphone can't of the operating systems just do video calls without dedicated apps period. It has been like that all the time. As long as there has been phones with front camera I can't recall that they were able to just video call if u don't have a camera and dictated app. And u still can do Internet calls. Google voice is a good one.

Just to let you know that when I had my Galaxy S , I was able to make a video call . I've had no luck with my Atrix 4G, or my LG 4X. This was not using any web based utils, but just a standard call with video. I'm not sure if it's carrier dependent , but that was on O2 in the UK.

The only way I know it is that it still uses an app but it is already standard in the phone. I remember that it was called qik and that was pre installed in a few phones that allowed video call. And then tmobile usa allows calling over wifi.

For what I was able to know, android don't have that option.
Its not a problem cause I have the LG GC900, much better camera and I can do video calls like I do normal phone calls.
The difference is that I need to chose the button from the middle I select the one from the left, in contacts I can choose, voice call, send sms or video call...
Maybe one day android start to use that too.
I have the Samsung Galaxy Note, the TMobile SGH-T879. I have not found an application and/or ROM combination that will allow me to record telephone calls without using speakerphone.
To be clear, I want to record both sides of a conversation on all incoming and outgoing calls without having to use speakerphone.
Has anyone here been able to do this on this particular phone? If so, exactly what did/do you use?
Call recorder app by skvalex. It works straight out the box using cm10 but if you are on a touch wiz rom you must first change the system to r/w before installing. Only downside is it is 10 dollars but is perfect and does exactly what you are asking for. You also need to be rooted.

New (side-effect) problem from this ROM
It records calls just fine; but, a new problem has presented itself. The phone will no longer block calls in any call blocking program's blocked list. I have tried six call blocking programs, one of which worked before the custom ROM.
Does anyone have a suggestion for me?
