[Q] Baseband - LG Optimus 2x

I was wondering if the baseband is unified like in my old Xperia x10a, i have a p990h right now, and i don't really know if these baseband posted here will mess with my data connection... i do know that for europe and america in general are different physical parts in the phone, but if the baseband are unified, i'll be able to use any firmware, and my data connection will work perfectly.
Regards

hey guys, no one knows about this topic?

[Q] Baseband

Hi all. I need to know something about basebands, so what does i change when i change baseband ? Will it improve performance ? I´m on baseband 218, should i change it ?
Baseband basically is a driver for your phone's radio.. upgrading it may improve radio signal, overall battery usage etc. It's like a device driver on your windows pc. It usually (but not necessarily) comes with RIL (radio interface layer) which is a software for your android that communicates with the driver. I personally recommend you to upgrade your baseband because yours is quite old and has been 4-5 update releases since that. You still need to do some research on which baseband release is the best overall performer.. lastest release doesnt mean its good..
Be known that flashing your baseband may brick your phone or make your radio unusable.. so do it at your own risk.
I'll look on it, but my phone still works great without any big problems so i dont have big reason ^_^.
Newb question here
What's the difference between the normal baseband and the RIL baseband?
Is the radio interface layer only used for the radio?
Lets say i update the baseband, do i necessarily need to update the RIL too?
Thanks in advance, i'm such a newb

I also have that question! I got 0405 and I want to update the BB to 0622 or something, but I don't know if RIL is also needed for stock ROM.
Thanks.
As I said, RIL is the software that communicates with the baseband and the baseband update itself is like a firmware flash.. its not part of android system and will not be backed up if you are to make a nandroid backup. It is always a good idea if you were to flash a new baseband and to also update the RIL that the baseband update comes with because the new RIL will be optimised (or so to speak) for the new baseband update.
We really need a guide or at least categorized links to informations like ones found here
What is what and what can or should be done first.

Baseband?

Okay I got a question about Basebands, I have the UK version of the Milestone But I live in the states, In Iowa. Is there a different baseband I should be using? Cause I've never seen a baseband in any of the lists I've found for north America or anything like that.
Argentina-Personal.zip
Brazil.zip
Canada.zip
French.zip
Germany.zip
Isreal-Celcomm.zip
Italy.zip
Singapore.zip
Telus.zip
Thai.zip
Venezuela-Movilnet.zip
That's about all I've seen for basebands. If someone could clear this up for what the baseband actually does and what I SHOULD have that'd be great thanks. You can see my current Baseband in my signature.
I guess baseband is more like, what fits you best.
If i'm wrong please correct me, but if you'r getting good reception its all good.
I also am in Iowa-Sioux City, and have found that the Singapore basebands are the only ones that work here, tried them all after I flashed a rom that changed my baseband. I believe that the baseband sets thew acctual frequencys that your phone uses, there are many in each of the bands that are avaible.
Sent from my Milestone using XDA App
too bad for me
i think i lost my baseband?
it shows me a "no service" my milestone cant detect my simcard's network
..... help please...
hey, where could i found this Venezuela-Movilnet.zip baseband? i really want this to use my 3g network on my xt720
There are two things about baseband: the baseband software and baseband configuration.
Baseband software (I don't know much about this, sorry...) may be in your system rom somewhere and you flash it with a zip file. In Eclair you'll see software and confugiration version in "About" page, but since 2.2(?) you'll only be able to see software version. I don't think this differs much for each people. You can find the latest(?) here:
code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod4milestone/downloads/detail?name=update-bpsw-MSG39UPEU_A1.19_0.90-I4.zip
(sorry, I couldn't post outside links...)
Baseband configuration (located in /system/etc/motorola/bp_nvm_default/), according to my understanding, is to interpret GSM signal to something your phone can read. This is more like what fits you best. For example, with a baseband config from stock 2.1 rom my phone works well in the basement, but with another, it may show "no carrier".

[Q] Baseband for Mexico

Hello, i just bought this phone and i want to update it to v10f and (i had a Samsung Galaxy S i9000t and i had issues whrn flashing another rom UGKG3) i dont want to lose my signal.

i9000 modem trouble

Hello every1,
I have an i9000 with 4.1.1
3.0.42-00746-g6564605-dirty Devil3_1.3.1_Hellybean_cappy_CFS_BLN_CMC #524 Kernel version
i9000XXJVT Baseband version
that drives me nuts, because i have poor reception of wireless signal.
I`m not good at this, and i don`t want to mess it up, so i am at your mercy to fix it. I assume that whoever upgraded it to 4.1.1 *i recently bought it of Craigslist), did not put the correct modem in it (my carrier is AT&T prepaid).
Pretty please tell me what i can do to change my reception for the better.
Thanks a LOT

[Q] How to replace Modem (or, broadband version)?

Hello!
I am fairly new to this, hence the question. I'm not sure how to change the broadband version of a GT-N7000. I am guessing I need to use ODIN, but I'm not sure what needs to be flashed for it.
The reason why I am asking is because my broadband used to be XXLT4, but after I nearly bricked my phone, the USB module was changed at a service and the kernel replaced - but the broadband version of that kernel is XXLR9!
I really don't know if this is a problem, but it probably is, considering XXLR9 seems to be India while XXLT4 is Hungary, so I would like to replace it. I do not know how to go about this.
May I request help on what to do? Do I need to install the stock kernel, or are the modems available independently?
Thanks for reading and for the help in advance!
Do you have problems with your phone? I'm pretty sure service knows best... ?
