Hi,
I am having some troubles with the LGMobile update support tool. It reports that my phone is using V10C when the phone is actually using V10B (and 614 baseband).
Has anyone experienced the same thing?
And does anyone have solution to get LGMobile update support tool to show the correct firmware version?
try reinstall it
I've seen this reported before, pretty sure it's because you're using a newer baseband than it expects. Drop it down to the v10B baseband and it should work.
Should I try reinstalling LGMobile update support tool?
Is it just a wild guess or do you know that it is a solution to the problem?

like said before, the problem seems your baseband...
reflashed stock (V10b) and newer baseband about three weeks ago and had the same issue, after rebooting pc and lg2x i wasn't able to connect my phone with lgmobile updater
then i downloaded latest german ROM (V10c) and reflashed with SmartFlash and it worked
I have just reverted back to baseband 315 flashing with smartflash, and now LGMobile update support tool is reporting the correct firmware version (V10B). So reverting back to old baseband solved the problem.
Thanks everyone for input
For me it says:
New mobile phone software is available
Please update your software.
If not connected, connect the device now to start update.
If the update is done later, connect the device at that time.
Before the update is starting and after i've accepted that i can't revert, it says:
Your mobile phone software is the latest version.
why is this?
I'm at
LGEP990-V10b
Baseband 1035.21_20110502
Must be baseband. 502 is not part of V10B.

Yeah. I tried that. I follow the exact procedure to flash the beseband, but when I press start i get asked Do you want to apply odmvalue?" if i press yes, the screen blacks out and if i press no it goes into an endless loop with S/W Upgrade. THe status in smartflash doesnt update after "Download complete"
In your case you need a new LG usb driver. That's is why smartflash is not acting correctly.

I used the exact same drivers when i flashed to the baseband I'm at now, but i tried to uninstall current drivers and download the correct ones and reinstalled. Still same problem.
By the way. I get this error when i try to run OneClick Recovery
Code:
downloading bootloader -- load address: 0x108000 entry point: 0x108000
sending file: fastboot.bin

fastboot.bin sent successfully
waiting for bootloader to initialize
bootloader downloaded successfully

command failure: partition download failed
I actually tried this on 2 different computers. Same error on both.
Then you should try another USB port on your computer.

ohh sh**... i have flashed the 606 via smartflash, so it says for me that i have the latest :S
10 minutes after update (10c, Sweden). BSOD!!! OMG! I have been waiting for this update for a looooong time now, and this is what I get. Congrats LG, you are now officially the most useless company in the universe!
you have waited for the update that cures the thing, it didn't cure... i think it's enough reason to refund you, because you did what you could go and try
Anyone from the UK get this via the official route? Or are we stuck with 20110405 and v10d? I'm at work so can't try now...

Checked via the LG software this morning and it says I'm up to date, so I suppose we're stuck with 10d.
that's just bo!!0%
we could do with at least the updated baseband too though I shouldn't complain too much as I don't have issues with the phone...

Had another shutdown on Saturday. Left the phone in the glovebox in my car while I went out.
Came back and phone was hot to the touch and the battery had drained completely.
plugged phone into car charger for journey home and checked phone when I arrived at home.
Hot Battery again and no power. pulled battery and tried powering phone on again.
Phone powered up with battery showing 78% but still hot to touch
I am sick to my stomach. I tried to update my WIND version of the G2X to the T-Mobile V21E_00.kdz to get the newer baseband installed but it caused my phone to get stuck at "S/W upgrade Please wait while upgrading..." and the V21E_00.kdz
file I downloaded is corrupted (I've downloaded a few from various sources). I did do the NVFlash recovery and installed ClockworkMod Recovery before I did that but nothing I've tried, and I've tried virtually everything to resurrect my LG-P999 phone, worked. Various flashers I've used stop at extracting the V21E_00.kdz because it is corrupted. The normal LG update tool that is used for the T-Mobile G2X doesn't work for the WIND Mobile phone version because it detects that it isn't a T-Mobile phone and won't install the update and won't do an emergency repair. This phone can't be returned to WIND or LG because the upgrade I tried is "unauthorized" and they won't help.
Does anyone here know where I can get a good copy of V21E_00.kdz which will fully extract and, if you do, please post the link to it.
Is your phone the T mobile version?

Your phone is a p999 if I understood correctly.
I think you should use nvflash to restore a proper system, it always work. Ask in p999 forums.

Hi Core Memory, I don't know if you finally got an answer to your problem, but I got stock in similar situation, T-Mobile G2X that no longer boot after doing a LG update,
tried the various ClockworkMod Recovery, nvflash, root, nandroid, img, fixes,
but ended with that procedure as last resort, which failed with the various files I tried. same corrupted error message while extracting...
In my case, the error message was misleading,
I finally notice that the file I tried were containing a space: 'P999 V21E_00.kdz' apparently those kind of tool can be picky, I just try removing the space in the name P999_V21E_00.kdz
My guess was right, I restarted the procedure and everything went fine,
the phone is now up and running, using Gingerbread (2.3.4 I think)
hope this can help,
Jonathan

Thanks for your help.
I did get the problem solved a long time ago and have learned a lot since those early days of owning the G2X. The V21E kdz file installs Gingerbread 2.3.3.
While i was updating my phone using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1860782 these thread. the kdz updater says "model dll mag was not found". I thought that it was an error. But later i know that it was not an error. But while seeing the msg i was unplugged my phone. although it was updated to ICS 4 anyhow. But there are some problem. now when i connect my phone with pc to update fully(previous one i disconnect my phone seeing the above msg) , kdz updater says that phone was not found. although phone was connect perfectly. I was also failed to downgrade to 2.3 via flash tool.
Now give me that solution how can i solve these problem "phone was not found.
[ USb driver soft is installed.]
ICS version problemdue to not properly installed)
1) phone was not found msg
2)in about there is no baseband no. it says unknown.
- If you receiving a long call, when the call is end - the phone stuck at black screen and the only thing to do is unplug/replug the battery - Deep Sleep
- Sometimes the battery drain is unusually high. Though I think battery is better with ICS
- There are no APK installer, no Facebook, Twitter app
Still very good for a beta release

Mine works well since I installed it with SmartFlash Tool. Only problem is no Flash Player support and multitouch is very buggy. When I hold a single touch point it registers for only 2 seconds then it releases itself. To those who managed to install the firmware do you also encounter these problems?

Moving to Q&A
Hi everyone, I really need your help. I have basically bricked my phone but it is not beyond hope as some things seem to be working.
What I did:
I used ROM Manager to boot into a boot screen. I was very turned around and confused and I did not have Clockwork Mod on my CM9 phone, as I thought and I'm really not sure why I thought this was the right thing.... In that boot screen I flashed a TWRP recovery file (http://goo.im/devs/tonyp/P990-stuff/TWRP).
What happens now:
I get a white logo and then the phone turns "on" but on is only a white logo with a little splash of purple behind it (like 2cm long). This "on" state the touchscreen is sensitive insofar as if you touch it when it dims the brightness will jump back up again. That's it though. If I plug the phone into the computer (win7) the pc will ding ding and sometimes it says it installed properly, sometimes not, either way it does not show up in My Computer as a device. If I run SmartFlasher on the pc and plug the phone in (in S/W Upgrade mode which it appears able to do), SmartFlasher will detect the COM Port.
What I already tried:
I tried to use SmartFlasher to flash a stock ROM I found (http://www.modaco.com/topic/350555-lg-optimus-2x-stock-rom-update/) but I received a very non-helpful error that just says "type mismatch error". I tried another file, can't remember what it was or where I found it, but I got the mismatch error also. I also tried to update the phone via the LG Mobile Tool. It finds the phone, installs drivers, etc, even lets me open the update thing but then during the process it says it can not communicate with the phone and it is aborted.
Any ideas?? I can't afford a new/used phone... There must be some way to salvage this...?
Use this tool to solve your problems http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020737 ..... And as you have the old bootloader, so make sure you flash all files for old bootloader only and not new one....
And also make sure to read the instructions given in tool manual...

Ok...so I had to do a LOT of stuff w/n that tool that did not work before I managed to get anywhere...but I got somewhere! yay!!
The phone now boots into TWRP v2.5.0.0. The next step is to flash a ROM because there is no o/s installed. Before I go any further I'd like to know, should I use the stock ROM or should I use the files from ParanoidAndroid 2.6 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2097807 -- the link you gave me the other day).

Unfortunately more problems lol I was able to get it on there without problem. However I can not connect to my cell provider. The APN listing is blank and even if I manually enter and select save it does not save it, the list stays blank.
So, next I tried the most stable release of CM just to get this f'ing thing working. It went through and said it was successful but when I boot the phone up it is still Paranoid Android...which I don't mind except the APNs are still blank and my phone is still useless.
Any idea what I should do next? I tried searching for this APN problem and I tried two APN apps from marketplace, neither worked. I think the solution is to clear the phone and do another flash but that does not seem to be working...
If I remember correctly, some people had this APN problem but I NEVER had it... They solved it by manually inputting the APN... But seems you are having some weird problems as it doesn't even save the APN.... Try again inputting APN manually and save it properly ..... If it doesn't save then try CM 10.1 from link I gave earlier.... That is also a cooooool and smoooooth ROM with many more features ....
And make sure you install a new ROM only after a full wipe and also system format after taking backups of your apps, etc obviously ....

When I tried to install the newest stable CM I did do a full wipe (according to the TWRP v2.5 ). That's why I don't know what to do now. I can't seem to get Paranoid Android off / change to a different ROM.
Any ideas?
Okay so I have put 3 different versions on now and they all look and work great...except no cell connection, no apn's. I saw some people fix this by replacing their BB via smartflash but I can not do that because I get timeout errors. Smartflash doesn't work at all. Neither does the LG Update tool from w/n that toolkit. The only thing that does work is flashing zip from sd card and changing the recovery image via adb in that toolkit. I can not find any methods of replacing the BB except via Smartflash.
If you get timeout errors in smartflash, then do this trick.... When you click "Start" in smartflash and the flashing process starts then immediately pull the battery back inside phone and then you shouldn't get timeout errors ..... This always works for me.....

I live in Canada, my provider is Wind Mobile. This was originally a T-Mobile phone from the US. I bought it used, it was unlocked and running an older version of CM. The actual model number is P999DW
For convenience I just want to recap the issue:
I'm open to ALL ideas! On the all in one toolkit that I downloaded from the first reply only a few options work. The LG Update Tool and Smartflash...whether using them via the AIO toolkit or just using them independently always error out with some sort of communication based error. I can repartition and change the recovery image but that seems to be the only options that work from AIO toolkit. My understanding of the problem is that there is no, or an incorrect baseband file. The phone is behaving almost like a tablet. It won't search for networks and it doesn't even give me a SIM error, it's just not looking for it at all. I have formatted sys and repartitioned and wiped and re-flashed several different ROMs (Paranoid Android, stable CM, tonyp CM 10.1, etc) but this problem remains.
What? Do u have a P999? I'm not sure, but I don't think that P990 ROM will work correctly on it... In fact it shouldn't even install as the updater script checks whether the phone is P990 or not.... And if it isn't then it should show error and not flash the ROM... Did you change the updater script line to P999 instead of P990 to make it work...

I didn't do anything different. The P999 is just the T-mobile version and P990 is the International/Rogers/etc version. It was previously running CM so I don't really think that is the problem. http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/37457-p999-vs-p990/ The only errors I am getting are communication errors between the PC and the phone...not version related errors.
I would happily put the stock P999DW kdz file on if I could but the only method I know to do that (LG Update Tool via that AIO toolkit) does not work because it is timing out.
Okay so everything on my phone before and also now says it is an Optimus 2X. I started searching after your last comment and does this mean I have a Optimus G2X? F'd up...even the battery says it is a P990 Optimus 2X. Gonna see if I can find any NVflash ROMs for that one since nvflash method is working.
Use this link to download latest Official firmware for your phone
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=[IMEI]
Replace [IMEI] with your IMEI in the link...
OR
Download firmware from here ... It also gives list of official links .... There are P990, P999, SU660,P990HN firmwares with different countries listed...
http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=3
Try to flash it as KDZ (or) extract .bin & .fls files from it using AIO Toolkit and then Smartflash those two files ... If you want to flash only baseband then .fls one is the baseband ....
I'm telling to do this because it may be possible that you are trying to flash wrong KDZ or wrong baseband and that's why, may be, you are not able to do it ....
If you flash v30 firmware then your bootloader will, most probably, be changed to new one .... So consider that in mind also before flashing .....
Or a better solution ..... Natalya said that he/she might be knowing the solution to your problem... So try to consult for that also....
Again, there is a dedicated development for P999 also on CyanogenMod apart from P990 http://get.cm/?device=p999 ...

You just got a bit ahead of me in writing this comment ... I couldn't see it before writing my reply .... So one of the methods for confirming your phone is to look beneath your phone battery on the phone and another is to go to the first link I gave above and insert your IMEI also there in the link and then see what firmware download link LG returns .... Phone model will be also written in the download link, so you can check there also....
Hi everyone.
To start with my Optimus 2x was slow as a snail so i thougth that if i flashed it back to original rom and updated it from there everything was going to be better
Well no
I used NVflash and smartflash to bring back EXT3 and android stock to 2.2.2, and updated it to 2.3.4 but now when i use LGupdate tool and are going to update it to ics i get some problems.
I run pc suite i says i have an new update, fine i click update then LG mobile support tool starts and it also says that a new update is awailable and i click update, its ok so far.
Now a new window appear whits tells me to backup everything on my phone to a local folder i press the button on the window and get the window for C: and my mobile up, i copy everything BUT then when i press the "start update" button i get the message "A process that is not supported started" and i cant get any further.
I have try'ed to download LG usb driver new installation of pc suite and new installation on the support tool, but nothing works.
My phone have:
Model#: LG-P990
Android ver: 2.3.4
Baseband: 1035.21_20120521
Kernel: 2.6.32.9
Version number: GRJ23

Hi you can download the kdz of v30a from here http://csmgdl.lgmobile.com/swdata/WDLSW/LGP990/APNNDW/V30a_00/V30A_00.kdz
Download AIO from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020737 use it to extract kdz to smarthflash format. You will see a folder called v30a. Then you can use smartflash from aio toolkit to flash it. Every instruction is shown in aio toolkit

You other guys beat it to me, i was just to answer.
But my phone is still slow as he**.
Thinking of flashing cm10.1 (if i got it right with the dot), yesterday i flashed my wifes samsung gio with unofficial jb 4.2.1 and it was smashing
I had some problem with cwm but that was something with the sd card and easy to fix, she is happy and i loved the interface.
But what custom rom is the best (stabile, with least or none bug) and in swedish lang.
If you can please link where to find the files.
Thank in advance guys
