So I've got Cubed's Root and ROM done, and I love the phone. But recently it has begun rebooting at random times. It seems to do it most often when it is trying to update apps from the market either right after or in the middle of the update process.
I've also had a few lock ups where I had to pull the battery.
Any ideas what could be causing it? Are there any tools out there that will keep a log so i can see what is running that might be causing this?

I've only seen this at low battery. I had a 1% charge last night, and while plugged in, I tried to access something and it rebooted. It seemed fine after that, but the only time I have experienced something like this is when the battery is low. What's interesting to me is don't most phones shut themselves down at 10%?
My experience with android phones is that they auto shutdown shortly after hitting 0%. Depending on the phone battery saving settings kickaround 15%. Also most issues i've experienced with them happen around low battery .
I had a similar issue and it wasn't related to low battery. My phone would do like a "mini" reboot. By that i mean it would freeze and the screen would go off and then the notification bar would show up and the phone would come back on like normal at the lockscreen. It wasn't a full reboot and really didnt take more than 10 seconds to reset.i noticed it more while running pandora but I'm pretty sure that wasn't the only time it did it. I was running the decrapified with a few extra things that i removed. Since i went back to stock rooted i haven't had the problems.

It is not a low battery issue, since it happens when it is 100% and plugged in and charging.

No. I'm not sure how to do it.

Note that if you do this it will wipe your data and apps. Always make sure you backup your current setup 1st, that way you can always recover in case you make a mistake.

Ok, what is the best way to backup the system? Should I use Titanium Backup or some other way. And when I restore won't the issue return?
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA App
Use clockwork. Titanium Backup will not backup/recover system,etc...
I backed up via the recovery, and then wiped the Davlik cache, and that seems to have done the job. No more random reboots so far.

Dunno if this is a common issue as I couldn't find any other mention of it.
Basically, if my O2X has been asleep for a while while I'm at home and I take it out of sleep, it doesn't automatically reconnect to my home network, even though it's set to "never sleep". I have to either disable and re-enable WiFi or leave network notifications on so I can establish the connection from the available networks list.
Has anyone else got this issue or know of a resolution for it?
At least while on MoDaCo Fr12 it seemed to reconnect more quickly but I'm getting 48 hours out of the battery back on stock so would rather start there.
Cheers

Same here. I'm rooted, got CWM but still at stock. It is either being rooted or the freezing of a certain app.
Mine is rooted and from the moment i push the lock button it already is connecting after 2 seconds. Problem could me an app.
What apps did you install that require a wifi connection ?

None really. Auto-sync is usually off and everything else is "on-demand".
Might try a full wipe and just re-install a few apps at a time with titanium.
Hmmmmm.

Hi,
Same prob here. Sometimes it reacts, sometimes it dont. And if it's stuck I have to reboot.

i have same settings, maybe a hardware fault ?
But try to wipe first and see what happens
try app, blade wifi fix from market you must be rooted
happens to my x10 as well sometimes. blade wifi fix does help a bit, although you can always activate/deactivate wifi manually but yes it is annoying.
try changing wifi sleep policy to never, it won't disconnect but you'll notice some battery drain.
This is a known issue with some access points. The G2X forum also has a thread about this.

I have this problem too. LG? Bad, bad boys...
I'm running serendipity 6.4
Lately my data just randomly stops working. for a while I was turning data off in the extended power menu after browsing or sending mms or using the market. The last few days ive been keeping it on when I'm not using it. it will say it is on on the notification bar but wont receive any data. If i reboot with data enabled it will fix itself but then I get the amazon market error in some apps saying that I have to reinstall the app. Sound like my ip its getting changed our something? What the bleep is going on here?

Swap modems?
I have been seeing this as well. The only time I see it is when I am at work.
I stream Pandora as well as use IM+ alll day at work. Pandora has no issues as it caches data, but I see my IM+ connection resetting every so often. Also occassionally when attempting to access the internet the site will be initially unavailable.
I have tried several modems all with the same result, messed around with my band settings and even reflashed my ROM clearing all caches.
I have been watching for someone else with the same issue. This is the first post I have seen addressing it.
in addition to my data dropping it also happens with my service, seemingly around the same time if not in unison.
To the above poster: are you running serendipity 6.4 on a captivate?
Note: I had been running serendipity 5.x and switched to phoenix ultimate to test it. Had a bunch of problems with it so i switched back to serendipity. my phone hasn't been the same since. Weird random problems like this. I've odin master cleared and reflashed a coupled times but it didn't bring back my first flawless experience with serendipity before trying phoenix. Maybe I should try the stock rom and see if the problem persists..

I am running Phoenix Ultimate and always flash back to stock.
I wonder if phoenix has something to do with it. dont see how that would affect me tho since I'm not using it now. I also flash stock and master clear everytime. I did clear dalvik cache as someone motioned earlier and it hasn't happened yet.

i feel i should also mention that i have been seeing a gray icon in my notif. bar which i believe appears during data sync. its like recycle circle. looks pretty much identical to the reboot icon in the extended power menu. so - maybe i have too many apps and too many of those apps are set to auto sync and when they do it jams my data connection. still doesnt explain the affect on the amazon apps tho. im just rattling things off here to try and figure out whats going on and maybe jog someone elses brain in the process.
I get the sync icon in the notification bar as well. If I refresh gmail it will appear.
I have not heard of any others on the Phoenix ROM having this issue.
I've turned off auto sync in system settings and I haven't had the problem since. Its only been a couple days but so far so good. Still can't figure out why it affects amazon app authentication tho. Only thing I can think of is that with the syncing and data freezing my connection resets and I get assigned a different ip and can no longer validate with amazon.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Still no drops. I'm not having lag issues anymore either. I guess turning off auto sync was the fix. Prolly had a bunch of apps auto-syncing at once.

Well it didn't solve the amazon app force close. Just happened again when I opened gentle alarm.

I am locked, stock and 4.2.1. I am still having major performance issues. Sometimes it takes a few presses of the button to wake up. If it wakes up in landscape, it takes forever to rotate and unlock. Updating or downloading an app? Forget doing anything else while that's happening. System freezes till app is updated or downloaded and installed. Also getting a random reboot about twice a week.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to know. I'm hesitant to factory reset, only because of game data and various other things.
Thanks

That has been done, but thank you . Also cleared cache through storage setting.
I just cleared cache through recovery, so we will see how that goes. Didn't think of doing that before.

Factory reset is your best bet then if turning currents off did not work after you reset you can unlock and root to since you won't have anything on it anyways then you can back up if it happens again
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I'm setup the same as you complete stock didn't even unlock the boot loader and I have no issues. So if disabling currents has no effect a factory reset might be necessary. I had to factory reset my gnex after 4.2 update for it to run right. Fortunately I got the 7 after update was available so updated it before I had any data.

Hello i need help. My phone keeps rebooting itself at random times like playing a game, locking my phone, updafing stuffs and much more it doesnt happen all the same just 10/100 chance it does happen. I am using pandoriam 5.5 and was thinking of updating it to 5.7 but if the same issue happens in 5.7 i dont think i want a rooted phone anymore help????

Its nothing to think about... reflash and my gutt feeling say that the reboots disapear.
If not, via odin make a flash to stock.
If that didnt help.. it may be a hardware issue..
No worrys i think.

Hi.
Yes.. if you dont wipe you could inheret the fault.
Factory wipe and then install rom.
Your other hang problem could be fixed to i think. Who knows in the end?

Maybe I just found another possible cause for this long lasting problem. Sorry for bothering this old thread again.
I reactivate old but gold Samsungs with 4G by flashing the most recent stable cfw available. So I did with some SGS3 LTE and I was wondering, why every phone had problems with it. One just curiously lost EFS wich led to continously booting (could be fixed by restore), one had a sudden problem with the powerbutton (could be fixed by soldering a new switch), one just didn't like the SoC-standby (setting kernel to min. 800MHz fixed that) and finally today I found the last one to have a problem with the screen. When the screen blacks out due to energysavings primarly the system loses the connection to the digitizer wich is not the main issue. But 30 seconds after the display shuts off, the standby comes in not so handy and the screen gets a short circuit wich leds to a reboot. So I tried to exchange with a shattered display with broken touch and, oh wonder, everything is working fine. I then connected the suspected display to another mainboard and guess what? Yes, it rebooted exactly 30 secs after the screen blacked out.
Is anyone here still on this device and can replicate my sightings? I'd love to use /e/ on all of these cute little thingies and maybe someone else could do this also by just replacing the display?
...a few facts to add: I tried "keep display active during charging" (development options) over night connected to a powerbank and it stayed on. Just locking the phone made it go nuts and reboot 30 secs after...
I have an unrooted Galaxy S5. A few days ago, I was using the phone (can't remember an app) when the phone froze completely for about 5 seconds and then restarted. Ever since it recovered, the phone has had all sorts of problems: app crashes (Chrome in particular), dropped calls, very slow performance, and very slow gallery and camera. I haven't installed any apps recently.
Does anyone know what would cause this? Am I correct in assuming that the only way to fix this is a factory reset?

I'm no expert, but usually a full factory reset helps Try wiping cache from recovery too, that could help. If all else fails then there's nothing (except a hard paperweight) that a reset can't fix

It's strange that so many unrelated things would stop working but they all sound software/OS related so the wipe will probably fix it. You could clear app data for a few separate apps & see if one is the culprit but it might be a deeper problem like play services or something.

I'll admit to some f.c. on apps but nothing to do with the system crashing. Maybe try a fresh flash through Odin and a factory reset before fullboot. Also towel rooted. And how bad does this locked bootloader suck.
