Hey there. I ran into an issue with my HTC incredible S where It's not responding at all. I've tried everything and the phone just reboots over and over and over. I can not gain access to my recovery at all. I am wondering if you know how to fix it. It is currently
HTC INCREDIBLE S (VIRGIN MOBILE)
HBOOT: 1.09.1000
RADIO: -3805.04.03.22_m
It is currently S-OFF
Up to today I have tried everything from trying to access my recovery to going as far as even doing RUU and even the rom.zip to PG32IMG. None of these have worked.
Everytime I put PG32IMG into root of SD it loads from Hboot than tells me there is an ID error.
If Anyone could help me out I would be forever in your debt. I have been sweating this out without a phone for 4 days and counting. I really need my phone back up as my daughter has no way of getting ahold of me other than my cellphone...

Do you have another SD card you can try? How are you copying the PG32IMG.zip file to the SD card?
What I have done so far was run the RUU installer, grab the rom.zip file in my tmp folder and than change it's name to PG32IMG NOT PG32IMG.zip and placed it
into the root of my SD which I made sure I formatted everytime. I was just thinking about it now. Could it be that my card is 16GB... Would that have some sort of impact on the recovery process?
What about a "Factory Reset" from with in Recovery?
You have an Incredible S from Virgin Mobile, which I guess is from Canada. All you have to do is to follow the guide to flash an RUU on a Canadian device that is on the same section of the forum. This way, you will not get an incorrect ID error and the hboot will flash your PG32IMG.zip.

Could you be a bit more detailed? I am unsure of the method you speak of...
Thanks again btw. I will be following up with results tonight once I am home from Work.
Fingers crossed that this works properly!
Not sure I can help but at least good luck.

This is the post he is talking about. After re-reading your OP, I would again that this is the method you need to take. When I read it last night, I though you were getting an IO error, not an ID error.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1145541
So basically, after you get the ROM.zip, you need to unzip it and modify the android-info.txt file to change the modelid and cidnum values that correspond to your phone.
delete the PG32IMG from your SD card

Ok... I'm having quite an issue here and i'm not sure what to do next. I've been looking over the forums and I cant seem to find anything that helps.
I have a Sprint HTC Hero CDMA. The device just hangs at the white HTC screen when booted normally.
When booting into recovery, the only option is to delete user data.
I've tried flashing with hboot, I've tried using RUU's.. I cant seem to get anything to get this phone to boot.

**Additional Notes**
This phone does not boot. So anything required to be done from within android will not work.
ADB does not connect.
Fastboot - REMOTE NOT ALLOW.
I'm about ready to pull my hair out. Anyone able to offer any help?
I'm assuming you've tried deleting user data?
You've tried ruuing with a HERCIMG.zip? (http://www.mediafire.com/?m6x4sr682ruk027)
And after all that it's just looping?
So since ADB isn't connecting, you can't run a logcat to see where it might be hanging?
I probably can't offer much help and late Friday night is a quite time here.
Yes.. have tried deleting user data.. and have flashed several of those packages. I'll try the one you posted and see.

Installed that manually from hboot by moving it to sd, renaming it, and updating. It went through the whole update, said it completed, rebooted.. and same as always.. sitting at a white screen with HTC in green.

Sounds like it's bricked to me. I don't know what else to tell you, sorry.
are u sure not pressing home+back instead of home+power because thatll go to clear storage and it drives me crazy because i always do it by accident due to big thumbs lol
Me agrees with Bierce, you also can try volume down+power then press home to get to recovery that way. Alternative install htc sync and D/l an ruu from htc site connect phone and start the process all over .I know it's long but the eng-spl is reversible when you unroot but the unrevoked s-off, isn't it's at a different level, and they haven't created an s-on for the Hero that I know of. Good Luck we are here to help
EDIT: If you are s-on you can't use the HERCIMG.zip's. AFAIK but I might be mistakin.

Cannot get to recovery from hboot. Option is selected, but it just hangs at white screen with HTC in green.
I took your advice, about the fat fingers lol and used a screw driver to press the power button to make sure I wasn't hitting the back. It just displays the same white screen.. I'm beginning to think this phone does not have a valid recovery partition.
I've tried running multiple RUU's. It take me into bootloader, uploads, flashes, says it completes, but then just hangs at the same white screen after reboot.
if it dosnt have a recovery itll just go to the bootloader just try an ruu thats probably your best option at this point.
Yeah make sure you very gingerly and accurately press the proper buttons.

Hi All,
Need help. I installed the ICS ROM upgrade using the RUU from HTC dev on my wife's Incredible S and while the install process seemed to go well, when the phone booted up, the touchscreen and screen buttons were completely unresponsive (not laggy, it is completely frozen).
I have tried a factory reset from the hboot menu. The result is the same; the phone gets to the android home screen and connects to the cell network, but no touch screen or screen buttons working.
To make matters worse, it no longer connects to the PC via USB. The PC sees a device; calls it an "Android 1.0", but I can't interact with it. I have tried to force update the correct drivers, but no luck. HTC sync says there is no device connected; have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times. Have also tried a second computer.
I also tried to reinstall the ICS ROM from an SD card using fastboot with the PG32IMG.zip file. Again the install process seemed to go smoothly, but at the end no touchscreen.
I was going to try the stock gingerbread ROM using the SD card fastboot, but from what I've read, going backwards is not an option.
Both the cell provider (Virgin Canada) and HTC customer support were not able to help. The phone is past warranty and they want us to send it in for repairs.
Device is currently showing:
Locked
vivo pvt ship s-on rl
Hboot-2.03.0000
Radio-3831.19.00.19_M
emmc-boot
I've done a bunch of searching, but haven't been able to find anything quite like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You won't be able to run GB ruu without hboot downgrade, but that will require bootloader unlocking via htcdev site.

Yes, but the problem in doing that is that I cannot get a useful connection to the PC. The bootloader unlocking method on the htcdev site seems to require a PC connection.
Try uninstalling HTC Sync and installing drivers provided on revolutionary installation instructions page.
With no connection to pc you will find it very difficult, if not impossible to rectify. is it a problem with your phone micro USB or your pc USB. I faced the same issue and found it was my micro connection (which also led to charging issues) got it replaced at phone repair shop cost me $80 au. Now everything works great.

You might have more luck with the Canadian variant. Run the ruu utility until it gets to the first screen, the phone doesn't need to be connected at this point. Open start menu on pc and type %temp% in the run/search bar. A temp window should appear. In this window search for rom.zip and copy the file to your desktop.
Rename rom.zip to PG32IMG.zip, place it on the root of your sdcard somehow (another phone or sdcard reader) insert back in phone and start phone into hboot (power + vol down) phone will scan and find the file and prompt install, accept and wait. After installation check your touchscreen and let us know how it went.
if this doesn't fix it, I think you might be looking at a hardware fault.
facing similar issue, just want to ask anyone having issue with ICS/JB, no matter what rom i flash, its still nt smooth
Ok I hope I am in the right section. I have literally tried everything on this forum to return my wife's vivid to stock. The ruu doesn't work it says it's the wrong one, except it's not !!! her phone says vivid in the settings menu but is being reported as holiday in hboot unlocked s-on. I am on windows 8 and none of the fastboot or adb drivers will recognize the device, I even disable driver signing and fastboot will still not recognize it.
The phone has been acting wonky and I want to warranty it. I don't have access to recovery even though I've flashed them multiple times with cwm and goomanager. All I can do is boot into bootloader or boot into android, recovery hangs on htc white screen. phone will not charge when it's off?!?!?! WTF I'm stuck.
all the recovery PH39IMG.zip i can find point to the same file that was on this forum and has been deleted, so i can't try that.

i'm kind of a newb so i probably shouldnt be giving advice but how else am i supposed to get 10 posts :B firstly the issue i see is that you are using Windows 8 which to my knowledge isnt supported by HTC.. so there are no drivers for it.. if that has changed and for some reason you are just having issues with the newly released drivers then ignore me haha.. when i was having issues rebooting into recovery i just reflashed the ones that come with the AIO tool.. because i know for sure those work.. i've used both of them and the only recovery that didnt work was the ONE that i tried that didnt come with the AIO..

Yeah I tried that and hboot says it's an older version and then makes me reboot. does anybody have a ph39img.zip of the stock ICS recovery for at&t ????
I was able to install VMware on ubuntu and install windows xp inside of it. I got one of the all in one tools to recognize the phone and reboot it into fastboot however now when I try to flash a recover it hangs at writing recovery. Does anybody know how to either fix this or brick the phone worse so I can warranty it?
ubuntu usb?
Maybe try making a bootable ubuntu usb stick and install the android sdk on it, then acsess the phone from there?
I tried fastboot and adb in Linux and the recovery won't write, it copies over but it won't write.
Is there a way to modify the ics ph39img.zip to trick hboot into thinking is a newer version so it won't halt the update?

htc inc s, brand new from ebay china seller ( I live in Greece), is s-on, never messed up with, never rooted all factory. It worked great for few days and after the first OTA update I cant get into hboot, adb doesn't see the phone, always the updating symbol on screen.Tried battery pull, volume down + power in all the possible timing and combinations but yet nothing! Also I tried battery pull, volume up + power it vibrates 3 times orange lid is on and black screen (on the forums is said that this is diagnostic menu) . So I think maybe this phone is a refurb and not new since the answer from HTC global support (after sending my IMEI and S/N) is that this phone is for Indonesian market and that its warranty expired year ago!
Can someone figure out what is going on and help maybe...

yay i think that ebay china seller has fooled you
i am not sur but it must be like this;
the phone must be from indonesian market.
(there is no reason for which htc global support will lie!!)
the ebay china seller must have resold it to you.!!
and then you flashed a european RUU and thats the problem.
i will try to hunt for solution.
may be some expert will come up with solution
keep patience

just in case asking; can you get into fastboot??
i dont think you can as bootloader doesnt start but asking it a s a last option

O right nvm, unlocking bootloader is not possible because you need android debugging.... hmmm.... school has been wrecking me lately....
It might be possible to run an RUU though. Just have it boot and have it left in the state. Then try running the RUU. Of course I have never seen such a case as this and at this point, anything could be worth trying :/

ya that true
but i dont think that would work
if some way he is able to get fastboot atleast;
then everything can be done
but i think he will have to send it to company or ebay seller to demand for exchange

The only other thing you could try is to get the latest RUU from HTCDEV.com and extract the ROM.zip file from the /temp directory and then copy it to the SD card and rename it PG32IMG.zip.
Then try rebooting using volume down and power and see what happens.

Why did you choose that RUU and ROM? This forum is for GSM version of the Incredible S. The Verizon version of the HTC Incredible 2 is a CDMA/GSM hybrid phone.
From the sound of it, I think your SD card is probably the root of the issue. That would explain why the OTA failed. Have you tried taking the SD card out and booting the phone without it. That might abort the OTA and allow you to get back to the HBOOT menu.

Yes buddy thanks a lot I read your post earlier but I just wanted to see will someone else also agree with this so I can be sure. This came in my mind yesterday when I read this post:
http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f485/guide-how-download-correct-firmware-rom-htc-1623710/
and saw that the line ""before download file check this thread and match your cid to know carrier and country""...

Yes you are right but still I tried to start the phone without sd card before many times before I tried to boot with the pg32img method and it did nothing!
Hi Everyone
I humbly approach you today with a HTC One issue, that needs solving as I have no phone as a result.
So to put it simply I Unlocked and Rooted my device through this guide .
/watch?v=kJYAS2KN17Y
Following that I proceeded to gain S-OFF, or at least I believe I did. Checked the Bootloader after and it said S-ON :S Through this guide.
/watch?v=NeFwsqU4YL4
All seemed well up to this point, so then I followed to this guide to install 4.4 KitKat on my HTC One (I am based in the UK, and the network my phone runs in is O2).
/watch?v=AySbx90YB-s
However as it turns out, my phone will now turn on, I will reach the default Android Language Selection menu, and my phone reboots automatically before I can even press anything. I have tried to re-install the "bigxie_Reset_M7_3.62.401.1.zip" several times, and nothing has come from it.
So I attempted to restore my stock HTC rom, using the "RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7_Radio_A4.13.3231.27_10.31.11131.05_release_310878_signed.exe" and it fails every time, and it also detects no image when I run it, it simply shows what image it will install.
Additionally I tried all possible USB ports on my computer to check for a faulty USB port with RUU, I have tried to push "Guru_Reset_M7_3.62.401.1.zip" through CMD (I am running windows of course) and naturally it hasn't worked (the push). Having not made a Backup because I blindly followed the tutorials, I have nothing to go back to.
I think the problem is that S-ON is enabled and I can't seem to find how to solve it, or enable S-OFF using the AIO Toolkit and pushing Revone. Anything that could help me get my phone working, and hopefully with stock Android will be greatly valued. Thank you for taking the time to read this .
Do not lock bootloader
sent from my mobile device
I am not so good at android but.......a way to S-OFF HTC One would be using this video - /watch?v=MCMJkVbIiIg
It basically uses rumrunner to do so and for me it worked flawlessly
Hope you can fix your One soon.
FIXED!

Thank you for replying guys!
I actually managed to fix it by pushing TWRP instead of CWR and then installed Android_Revolution_HD-One_31.6.zip got my OS back and now trying to enable S-OFF.
:good:

Gratioz!!!!! Good luck for getting S-OFF.
I used rummrunner to get S-off. Works like a charm. Takes a bit of time to do it though, don't close it whilst it's doing it's thing!
