[Q] Galaxy Tab -- Send in for Repair after Rom Fash - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Alright, I've read the forum rules and I've scowered XDA forums for all the different problems I've had on my Galaxy Tab and I fear I've just made it worse. I purchased a refurbished TAB from AT&T. I decided to use it for a while to make sure it's all good before I hack the heck out of it. (good idea) I found that after a while, if I have bluetooth enabled the device would act like the CPU is pegged at 100% and could barely run. If I got BT disabled, it would run fine again. I decided to call AT&T which was a mistake in the first place. After 5 call transfers and a very rude AT&T rep telling me I have to talk to Samsung, I hung up. I decided to flash the rom myself to try and get rid of the problem (bad flash?). I flashed ROTO's roms and now every rom I flash, any rom I can get my hands on, has the Back Button problem. It's like It's holding down the back key. I wanted to send it in for repair (after googling and realizing that alot of samsung products have this problem) but realized that I unlocked my bootloader and can't go back to an original rom Does anyone have a rotobackup of an AT&T tab I could use? Or maybe should I brick the device and send it in? saying it was a bad kies flash? Any help would be appreciated. Also, if there is an original AT&T rom out there I could put back I would, but I can't find it. I've been on samfirmware.com and the like to no avail. Thanks Again!

One of the gingerbread roms may work by upgrading the bootloadwr (at your own risk)

Hey Thanks
hey thanks, i have tried that rom. the euro gingerbread rom was actually the first one that i tried and the first one that gave me problems. I actually bricked it trying to flash another rom and so I just said to heck with it and sent it in. worst case is they fix it and charge me? do they warranty their fix if I pay for it? I mean if they just reflash it and don't fix the hardware issue (which i know there is one) will they fix it again?

huge problem everything works but no signal

i bought a used g1 no physical problems took it into a shop and they couldnt find anything wrong with it internally so im guessing its a software issue....dont know if this guy i bought it from tried to mess with root and messed something up but im thinking its some sort of software stuff....can anyone PLEASE help!?!?!?!?! i either get this phone fixed or keep using my nokia that seems like its from 1998 and its killing me!!!!!!
What are the stats of the phone? You can check the versions in the settings\about phone area. Model #, Firmware version, Baseband version, kernel version and build number information would be helpful.
Is it already rooted? If not, you may want to go ahead and start reading up on the root process. Some of the newer builds may or may not help the issue. But if it isn't rooted and you arent getting a signal, it very well may be a network issue. Also, does your phone service have a data plan? Has the phone gone through and passed all of the sign-in procedure? (being from another country, I am not sure what all you have to do to activate your phone) Sim card good?
thats the problem i did a factory reset to input my gmail info and now i cant get past the damn activation screen! ive been through all the customer support through tmo and cant figure anything out!!! im goin crazy
also ive found this webpage http://developer.htc.com/adp.html that has recovery, system and radio images from htc and every time i try one of them it comes up and says no signature or no verification.......not sure what to do
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452316
you cant apply those because your phone is not rooted. learn what your doing without randomly flashing everything that can killed your phone. and yes, you can kill your phone permanently flashing the wrong **** (i.e radio/spl)

Please help

Hi all,
This is my 1st Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S) its 5 days old and seems to have a problem.
When I surf the net through my wifi connection at home after 10>20 mins of use its freezes, vibrates then crashes back to my home screen. Once at home screen it then vibrates 3 more times.
Its not rooted or running any additional software.
I've reset it 3 times to see if this helps but it doesnt.
Today I phoned Samsung support (uk) and they said it sounds like a software issue and they asked me to takes it to car phone warehouse so they could check it over.
I dropped into cpw house and explained my problems and they said they would re flash the firmware. 1 hour later I picked the phone up and went back home.
When i got home I checked the phone over to discover they had down graded it from 2.2 to 2.1.
I surfed the net for abit over my wifi connection and didnt seem to have any issues but the gremlins got the better of me and I decided to upgrade the firmware through Kies to version 2.2.
The way I see it I purchased 2.2 Froyo not 2.1 Eclair.
Since updating to 2.2 I'm back to having issues with wifi where it freezes, vibrates then crashes to home screen and vibrates 3 more times.
Please can someone help because I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue or software.
Thx in advance !!
hi
you need to understand one thing
The Phone is on carers software, and by that it is meant to do whatever
carer decided it to do....
Without Rooting your phone ( what is breaching of your warranty)
De branding it ( in most of the cases)
And Un locking it.
there is not much you can do other than referring to the Carphone warehouse once again, for a WORKING software for your phone.
You can see witch Froyo Base/Breed you have in system informations
and then look for the answers for that specific Base/ Breed
But if you decide to Root your phone then tutorials for that are hire just google for it, its really easy, if you know what are you doing
best luck
xiadz
Thx for your reply xiadz.
Please let me extend..
The phone does not and wasn't purchased from the car phone ware house.
I purchased it from a local add. It was an upgrade and the previous owner was happy with his Iphone so I decided to purchase it from him (unopened and in the box) It is unlocked to any carrier and I have tried 3 different simm cards in it so it doesnt require unlocking.
Ive looked into the rooting and lag fixes but this didnt fix my problem.
I appreciate your help thou

[Q] i9000T No signal help

I have a Samsung i9000T that I recently bought from a lady who said she forgot her password to it so she couldn't unlock it. So I bought it and tried factory resetting it so I could sell it to a friend of mine who wants to upgrade from an iPhone 3G. Well factory resetting did nothing, I did some digging and found out that it's a common problem for i9000's to have a csc file corruption. So I decided to flash, via odin, a stock firmware to the device. The firmware I decided on was a UK firmware because I couldn't find an american firmware for it. The flash was successful and I was able to boot the phone no problem. A weird thing was that all of the lady's data was still on the phone, so I contacted her and told her I could backup all of her pics and give them to her, which she happily said yes to. After that, I rooted the phone and installed cwm and then flashed Slim rom android 4.2.1 to the device. I then put a backup sim of mine in the phone and tested the phone. The problem I am having is I don't get any signal on the phone what so ever. I have all the ATT apn's on the phone and they look to be correct.
My question is, having flashed a UK firmware before anything somehow messed up the ability to connect to ATT here in the USA? And what course of action should I take to correct the issue with no signal? My friend is in the military and is being mobilized on the 1st of march so I would like to have a working phone for him before then as I will not see him for some time after.
Any help will be gratefully appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Just a question, has she ever reported it stolen? Has the IMEI number been blocked?
Find out the IMEI number and contact the original Network Supplier that the phone was used on and as them to check this. They'd be able to tell you if there are any issues.
Not trying to worry you but it happened to me. I had to return the phone.
I know the imei, but I don't know the original carrier for the phone... I assume it was ATT because that is the dominant carrier in my area. I'll get in touch with the lady I bought it from and see for sure.
On another note, I've tried testing the internal antenna by inserting a wire into the external port, but still no signal.
I'm going to try completely starting over and see how it goes this time.
Ok, so this thread can be closed now. I've solved the problem.. and feel like such a noob for some reason I was kinda spot on with what i thought was wrong but I had such a hard time finding files to fix it... untill i found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494493
AMAZING guide. Fixed my problem right up. Running 3G here in Texas on ATT. My friend will be so happy that he gets to take an android back over-seas with him.
Thanks to all of those who helped, I greatly appreciate it.

WiFi stuck trying to turn on, bluetooth stopped turning on altogether.

FIXED: I somehow managed to fix both issues by flashing CM 12.1 and then flashing back to an LG base. Now both WiFi and Bluetooth work. Who knows what happened and how that fixed anything, but it did.
Hey guys. My G4 suddenly stopped connecting to WiFi. The icon will keep flashing on and off, and it wont find any networks. Furthermore, the Bluetooth stopped working altogether. I've done some research on this and saw that some people had the same problem, but only when the phone first came out and they ended up returning the phone and getting another one. I have Jump and I have about 150 dollars worth of payments left before I can upgrade to something else, so I have to stick with this phone for now.
I tried restoring the phone back to stock, and did pretty much anything else I can think of. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and fixed it. Thanks!
Also, for what it's worth, I'm running a debloated 10N ROM, and yes I'm rooted.
Do you have the original JUMP! or the new one? (After I think last February or so.) The original didn't require 50% of the device paid off first and if you JUMP (old or new) it'll wipe out whatever EIP you have left and start over with your new device.

You can do a warranty exchange. Through TMob it'll be either $5 or $20 depending on insurance coverage.

Great to hear, whatever works!
When you said you tried returning to stock, what did you try exactly?

Received Rooted Phone...Please help! sm-n900a ATT

My garbage HTC went out on me and someone gave me a like new Galaxy Note 3. I discovered it's rooted...The person who gave it to me bought it from someone so she doesn't know anything about it. I have no idea how to utilize the root...it has King Superuser on it and I downloaded TWRP because of some research I did...but honestly I don't know how to even begin taking advantage of a rooted phone. There are two things I'd like to do: upgrade from 4.2 to at least 7 AND bypass ATT's bs tethering block. Can anyone please guide me through this step by step considering I'm a layman regarding such things? A reliable source for ROMs and how to flash? I'm guessing I don't have all the apps needed to achieve my desired OS upgrade. I greatly appreciate anyone's time on this. Thank you.
Sorry to be the bearer of sad tidings, but you ain't gonna get there. Go back and do some basic research and you'll find that the Note 3 is very restricted concerning what you can do because of a feature called a locked bootloader. The best you're going to be able to do is load Lollipop, such as AllianceROM Ver. 12. Read, then reread this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2778933 . If you see that if you already have TWRP installed the procedure is rather simple. First, insert a SDHC card in your PC and format it. Then download the SafeStrap files for the ROM onto the root of that SDHC card. Another file you might need is the NC2 firmware (in case you want to revert at a later date. Now, shut down the power to the Note 3 and remove the battery. Reinsert the battery and boot into Recovery. Then do a complete backup onto the SDHC card. Next, do a complete factory reset and wipe. Now you're ready to go back to TWRP main menu and install the ROM file in the STOCK ROM sector. When the install completes reboot the Note 3 and let it run. You will have to enter all your configuration info (name, wifi config, account info, etc.). If you have any problems go back and re-read the instructions. Also, you can try different ROM files, the instructions are generally pretty similar. If you want pure AT&T ROM install the stock OC1 ROM files. Check back and let me know how it worked out for you.
I am sort of in the same boat, I just got a brand new out of the box Note 9 from Sprint, and saw in the hidtory log on the recovery menu that my "core" was swapped (? I think that is what was stated , and it said DEBUG so and so RETURN TO VENDOR IMMEDIATELY. My husband claims by disabling the bloatware it caused that. This is the 5th time it has happen since November. 2 with my Note8, twice with the temp prepaid phone, and now with my new Note9. The recovery screen to my galaxy's always read, no address, no device privapp_ATT . Again my husband said I must have "f-ed" up the phone once again. And XDA just brought up that my device is an AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note3. I know I did not do it, I am too scared to run anything that an possibly damage my phone... I just want to get my phone back to a Note9, and to find a way to keep my husband from changing it. ( I highly suspect he is into developing and made himself admin of the phones as well as our Google accounts). Is there anything I can possibly do??

Well... You seem rather confused about what your situation actually might be. Is the actual, physical device a Samsung Model SM-N900A (Note3 AT&T version) or a Note9?
If it is a Note9, try leaving a question in the Sprint Note9 forum.
If it is a Note3 go back to the main page and start reading up on how to reload the operating system.
Other than that, my suggestion would be to first, take the device back to where you bought it and find out in plain language what the core problem is. Second, ask is the device still under warranty and eligible for free or discounted repair. If the answer is yes, have the repairs made on the spot. If the answer is no, then Google a commercial repair center in your area and give them a call with the information you then have. Chances are they device is hosed as far as warranty, but you don't know until you ask.
Third thing is to lock down your device and do not relinquish the password to ANYONE.
Good luck.
