I'm wanting to get the keyboard used in HTCCLAY's super CM7 rom. I'm not entirely sure how easy this would be. I'm not familiar with dev tools or anything like that. I was wondering if this can be done easily or if at all possible someone could break it down for the keyboard.
adb pull /system/app/LatinIme.apk /where/ever/you/want/
Thanks a ton

So I have another question. I'm trying to replace my keyboard on my CM7. What is the best way to get the apk from the other rom into mine. Can I just unzip CM7 and switch out the files? When I try to install the apk it says not installed and using root explorer to override the original isn't doing anything.

I want to use the new gallery and stock keyboard from FroYo and I'm wondering if this is possible. I pushed the Gallery3DGoogle.apk and .odex to my /system/app but it isn't showing up in my app drawer. Is there some piece of code that I'm missing that my phone wouldn't recognize? Also, how can I pull the keyboard, or is there anybody that can pull the keyboard and put in a flashable zip? Any help/input would be appreciated. Thanks
I doubt any of this will work, froyo is a bigger change than 1.5 > 2.1. Frameworks are going,to be entirky different.

is it launcher2 that you're talking about? I think you can rip it out from any froyo update zip
Yeah that is what I am exactly talking about launcher2.apk but I dont have the update.zip file

Here it is, I was just looking for this myself, Went through a lot.
But to use it,
1.Uninstall ADWLauncher (with Titanuim backup because removing it from the system/app folder doesn't remove some residue it still leaves.)
2.Install this Launcher2.apk with (adb install Launcher2.apk) since i dont know how to install from Titanium
3.Press home button
I found the app somewhere on the forum, its compiled from AOSP
>> Edit: All these steps are required because if not Launcher2.apk WILL FORCE CLOSE on you and you probably dont want that <<
Thanks man ill try it when I come back from work thanks a bunch

Force closed after install. Followed The Instructions exactly.

I need to install some stock apks that come with HTC Aria on my NookColor. Any pointers where I can find them? If someone has a rooted Aria and they are willing to attach the stock apk's here, that would be dandy as well.

Download the FR008 ROM from the XDA, all the stock apps are in there. However, they may need Sense.
Maybe i'm not clear here. I was looking for the apk's that come with an unrooted Aria. Sorry for confusion.

Here's the link to the HTC Aria stock not rooted ROM that attn1 compiled. All credit goes to attn1 for posting this.
http://droid.neolobster.com/roms/aria_shipped_signed.zip
You can extract the original apk's directly from the zip without the need to flash the zip.
HTC apps won't work without Sense, it requires the Sense UI framework. That's why, like, on the G2, they don't have the really good Sense apps, like the camera one. So you can't use them.
Thanks guys! I totally ignored the fact that HTC Sense would be a requirement.
Hello fellow xda members. I had a problem the other day. I installed sgs tools and tried downloading a different launcher. It loaded the launcher fine but I wasn't satisfied. I tried restoring it but it gives the error "folder not found." I was wondering if anybody knows how to reinstall the built in default tw launcher and if I can possibly restore the layout.

I'm sure you could find the apk with a search.
Are you running a custom rom?
No, I'm runnin default android 2.2 froyo. Rooted, but nand backup doesn't work either. A few months ago, I tried backing up with rom manager, but after rebooting, their still wasn't any backups availible to restore. When I boot into system recovery, it doesn't even open cyogenmod reovery.

CM revovery? Stock 2.2? I'm confused.
I tried. Google doesn't show any, only custom launchers and I don't want that.

Bump...
Did you manually check the sgs tools folder for the backup of your stock launcher?
I've been using the gingerbread launcher from the market and I really like it. Just putting it out there to think about it.
Sorry I meant clockwork recovery mod. THAT didn't work or I wouldn't be asking for a way to reinstall default tw launcher. Thanks for all the current ideas

If you still need it, I attached it for you. Just drop it in the system/app folder. Good luck.
Never mind.someone else got it.

The one from the market is super easy. And if you accidentally delete it, it's there to reinstall
This is the one from my phone. Dont know if it is what you are looking for as i am currently running Continuum, but good luck.
I think you might need the .odex file as well since I recall seeing that you are running stock 2.2. Did you delete that file?
I'm not sure. How do I check?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
You can use Root explorer or a similar app and navigate to system/app. See if there are .odex files for the corresponding apk's. If the one for the launcher is missing than that would cause the issue. What happens when you try to run the launcher? does it just force close?
edit: I was able to find the apk and .odex file from a stock 2.2 build. Just drop it in hopefully this works. Just unzip and extract the files manually.
I can't find it. All there is is the .odex for the tw launcher wallpaper

^ I was editing my post while you posted, in case you missed it, I added the files you need.

This is a themed version of the Droid 3/XT860 keyboard.
I can't guarantee any results, anything you do to YOUR phone is YOUR responsibility. Though replacing one app will not brick your phone, you never knowXT862 [Droid 3] Blur Odexed System
Download and unzip XT862_Blur_odexed.zip
If you still have the stock Blur latinIME.apk then just replace that with the new one.
Set correct permissions (rw-r--r--). You're done so reboot.
But, if you did replace the stock keyboard, put the latinIME.apk and latinIME.odex in /system/app/
Then put libjni_latinime.so in /system/lib/
Set correct permissions for all files
Reboot
XT862 [Droid 3] Blur Deodexed System
Download and unzip XT862_Blur_deodexed.zip
If you still have the stock Blur latinIME.apk then just replace that with the new one.
Set correct permissions (rw-r--r--). You're done so reboot.
But, if you did replace the stock keyboard, put the latinIME.apk in /system/app/ and put libjni_latinime.so in /system/lib/
Set correct permissions for all files
Reboot
XT860 [Bell] Blur odexed SystemThis has not been tested
Download and unzip XT860_Blur_odexed.zip
If you still have the stock Blur latinIME.apk then just replace that with the new one.
Set correct permissions (rw-r--r--). You're done so reboot.
But, if you did replace the stock keyboard, put the latinIME.apk and latinIME.odex in /system/app/
Then put libjni_latinime.so in /system/lib/ (<--- I Don't have this lib in the zip, can someone upload it for me?)
Set correct permissions for all files
Reboot
If anyone has a rom based on the Droid 3 [XT862] (MavROM, DarkDroid, Liberty etc.) then follow the XT862 Blur Deodexed directions and replace all three files.
Other variants (XT883, etc.) follow the XT862 directions
If this doesn't work for you, let me know.
Note: These zip files are NOT flashable
And as always, backup your files
It has become apparent that this is not working for many people, and I don't know why because it is working perfectly for me. Anyways, I advise you not to try this unless you have a backup of your original files and if you can get your orig. keyboard back.
This spot is taken......
How to get to work with mav rom??

has this worked for anyone?
Can't get this to work. Does owner and group need to be root? I changed that also but still nothing. And i can't get my old keyboard back either, so i'm stuck with using the slide out. I'm really a noob at this, but shouldn't the LatinIME show up as a installed app? If it is, how do i add it back?
Im using safestrap version of steeldroid3

I have tried all the different ways in this thread and none of them work for me. Currently I am running dark droid rom. I am going to switch over to steel droid to see if it works on that rom.
