Simple questions:
If I have installed a cooked Gingerbread ROM (2.3.2 JV1 or 2.3.3 JVK evolution), can I replace the kernel with a Froyo version kernel (2.2.1 as JS8 or others)? What happens?
Doesn't work or doesn't boot? Will I have stability problems?
Does it downgrade version of Android on my device? So I will have a Froyo device?
This question come to me cause on other Devices (HTC Desire, Hero, Magic) I had before Galaxy haven't distinct versions: Froyo o Gingerbread ROMs are one package. In Galaxy, instead, I can change Kernels with ODIN, replacing the one that comes with Cooked ROM package... And I read sometimes Ginger Kernel based on 2.2.1... ??? what the hell?
Ciao
You will get bootloops
Btw, this is in no way development related and should be posted in general. Just for your next question...
Should be on Q&A
Hi -
Is there any1 out there having Danish Swype for JVR rom ?
BR.
MKrogh65
It's possible to use Swype included in XWJVH.
Only read this on Ramads [Firmware] -thread that 2.3.3 CSC is OK with JVR.
Either select CSC = XEEJV3 when flashing,
OR
[Risky operations] pick the files listed in /system/CSCFiles.txt on XWJVH ROM:
Swype.apk
libswypeCore.so
and swap according to this on DeOdexed rooted JVR.
Sent from my GT-I9000
Been wondering the same. Samsung should just release the damn thing officially already
Danish swype is included in MilkyS.Mod, which is JVR based, very close to stock, but far better.

fastest way if you are on deodexed system
is to find some old 2.3.3 deodexed firmware that includes such swype
and copy
/system/app/Swype.apk
and
/system/lib/libSwypeCore.so
to same locations in your phone
no need to install whole theme suggested
Hi devs, I have a Galaxy S I9000 and its running on Android 2.3.4 I9000XXJVP firmware (downloaded from Samfirmware). Can someone port this ROM for Vibrant? I mean exactly the same, including TouchWiz 3 launcher and frameworks, all Samsung Widgets and SNS accounts, etc.
Thanks.
Dinesh.
Latest is JVR and already did that many devs on forum just have a glimpse.
we have a jvp vibrant kernel and we flash it over the i9000 roms, all fine as far.

But the problem is that they include TouchWiz 4 or TouchWiz 4.5. Also, those ROM's do not have all the Samsung widgets and SNS accounts do not work properly. I m currently on Original Lidroid 2.8.2(Gingerbread 2.3.4 XXJVQ)
and everything is great and exactly what I want. Except that it contains very few samsung widgets and no SNS account support. I m not looking for any customization. Just the ROM ported to work on Vibrant maintaining all the stock I9000 feel.
my current version is still 2.3.3, but they say the best firmware is 2.3.5 so i want to try it, but will soon going to 2.3.4 for the baldoz rom legend 6.1, is it possible to degrade 2.3.5 JVS to 2.3.4 JVR?
is this the best way on updating it: http://androidadvices.com/update-samsung-galaxy-gt-i9000-gingerbread-xxjvr-234-firmware/?

Yes, you can downgrade in odin if you just remember to tick re-partition
Hi! Is there any way on how to instal this effect on a stock 2.3.6 JVT GingerBread, rooted with Semaphore 2.4.0 kernel? Without instaling a custom rom, of course. I have a file in my PC "JVT_odex_STOCK+_aosp_BASE" which instals CRT lockscreen but only in 2.3.3 / 2.3.4 / 2.3.5 JVT. Can someone provide me with a dowload link, please? Happy New Year, btw !
