[Q] firmware update using KDZ Updater - LG Optimus 2x

Hi,
I want to update firmware downloaded from LG using the KDZ Updater (No, not smartflash because I can't get those 1N1_Internet_AG Branding file for it). HowTo here. My question before bricking the phone is, which type do I have to set in KDZ_FW_UPD.exe for Optimus 2x?
Thank you,
d.

If you like to update your P990 with the official kdz, just follow this
http://android.modaco.com/content-p...imus-black-clockworkmod/page/20/#entry1708746
instructions (of course with the V10C_00.kdz for the P990), but recovery mode on P990 is started by pressing Volume down

Don't forget to install the msi file in the KDZ updater folder and you are good to go. You might have to do a factory reset (power on + volume down) if you are stuck in a boot loop.

Thank you, both dragon-tmd and bedevil99.
MoDaCo did some renovation work. The new link seems to be here.
The other instructions I've read first did not mention that it's necessary to change phone settings to USB-Debugging and to boot into S/W Upgrade Mode - and I'm on XP Pro SP3. Settings KDZ_FW_UPD.exe Type: CDMA, Phone Mode: DIAG.
Flashing worked using these settings.

It's nothing to worry about, its a boot.img issue. I will get the original 2.1 boot.mbn from the kdz, convert it to img then you can just flash it in fastboot.
Here you go:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5183281/2.1_v20b_boot.img
Just flash it in fastboot.
If you wonder how I converted mbn -> boot.img, search 4pda for mur4ik's mbn2boot tool.

just wondering if this problem doesnt get sorted, and if i take it back to carphone warehouse tommorow and tell them that i was updating to 2.1 through LG mobile tool software will they fix it for me or give me another one
Say that LG PC Suite prompted you for an update, but crashed half way through updating, they will most likely change the internals or send off to LG to fix it.

Sounds plausable, go for it. I wouldn't imagine them saying 'no', they know full well how crappy the normal updater is. Good luck.
I think I will take it back but aren't there any solutions for this problem.
If you are going to return it, I suggest fully bricking it. That way you will probably get a new motherboard, and solve your old 'bad block boot' problem. Just start a KDZ flash and remove the usb cable around a quarter of the way through. They will surely accept it, well, they did with mine anyway.
Good luck.
Is it solved? How bout go to download mode and flash flashboot kdz via kdz updater.
I fix my (2nd) Linux Kernel Panic this way.

Download a Fastboot KDZ. Here:
Put your phone into Download Mode (Volume Down + Power)
Run KDZ Updater
Once Flashed boot into fastboot (Camera+Power)
Open CMD and Direct to where ADB and fastboot are (cd C:\android\adb)
type
Code:
fastboot -w
fastboot reboot
Tips: If you cannot connect Use the Back Ports of the PC not the Front ones.

Optimus lg 2x S/W upgrade brick

Hey what's up! I'm having a really big issue with my Optimus 2x. I tried updating it using an online guide and using a program called KDZ FW UPD EN something like that.
The update didn't work and I'm stuck with a frozen screen that says S/W Upgrade, please wait while upgrading...
I have tried the hard boot, where you press the top button and the down volume button but when it takes me to the reset screen I cannot choose an option.
I have tried using the flashes as shown on the forums but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. I've seen all the posts, but I don't quite understand what to do. Could someone PM me? I'm a complete noob at this.
Do I need another program to do Flash?
How do I hook up a bricked optimus to the computer and flash?
Do I still use the lgmobile update to flash/sync with the computer? If so how?
Could you possibly walk me through the steps, if you have time on your hands. My phone is my only way of communicating with my family in another province.
Thanks!

I keep getting stuck when it is actually installing. After the download section the updater crashes.
My phone can't do anything. I know I turned on the debug mode before the brick happened. All that happens when I turn on the phone is it says "S/W upgrade please wait."
Any suggestions?
Hello!
Follow the guide step by step...
Pull the battery push volume down and connect phone to your computer - now it says S/W Update please wait - and if everything (all the drivers) are installed correctly the Smartflash/LG Updater should see the phone and you can begin flashing.
If you phone isn’t seen by the software almost probably the driver isn’t correct.

Did you try Rustys method?
What crashes? Your PC or the phone?
Did you use LG Updater, Smartflash or NVFlash?

The updater crashes. I did the flash with the KDZ. Not sure which one it is.
The updater crashes.
And on my phone it is stuck on the S/W upgrade, like it doesn't go past that even when booting up normally.
Hello!
Ok then...
You should try Rustys Disaster recovery first.
...and than one of the other methods.

As I understand he is stuck in the "S/W upgrade please wait."-screen and can't boot in any way - doesn't sound like he has cwm installed...
As I already wrote he should try to flash Rusty Disaster recovery first (contains cwm) and then try to recover from there.

I checked out rusty's disaster thing, but ummm what do I exactly do with it. There is no real explanation about what to do, could you walk me through it perhaps? ^^ thank you again.
Hello!
Just follow Rustys post...
Start „flash-recovery.bat“ choose either internal or external SD card and flash it.
Since you surely don't have a nandroid backup I would choose external and do backups to external card in the future...
After that you should be able to get in to recovery and flash other roms you put on your SD card.
BTW: Don't forget when you use any of the flashing tools with Windows 7 you need administrative rights to do so – same goes for the LG Updater by the way...
Just right click on the batchfile (.bat) or smartflasher and use „execute as administrator“. Hope you find it - it says „Als Administrator ausführen“ in German...
If you want pure stock you could stock use this method with smartflash...

If you want a pre-rooted version use this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327949
(the Update.zip is flashable through CWM-recovery – just put it on the external SD card.
If you want to flash CM7-KANGS don't forget to flash gapps too...

How do I go about executing the flash-recovery.bat?
I hook up my phone, it turns on to S/W upgrade. The computer recognizes it, and then I open up the flash-recovery.bat and nothing happens when I tell it to do the external thing. The window just closes. O.O
Am I doing something wrong? Am I supposed to place the flash-recovery inside something? Like an external sd card on the phone or something like that?

Hello!
Ok, still sounds like a communications problem between you computer and you phone.
You should try to use the command shell to start the batch-script to see if there are any error messages.
Do you use Windows 7, Vista or XP?
If you use Windows 7 look for PowerShell(x86) - you find though the start button - just punch in "shell" and it should show up.
Start it with right click of the mouse and use administrative rights!!!
Extract the files from Rustys disaster recovery package to a directory on c: - some thing short like "t" or "recover" and use the cd command in shell to get in the directory. Then start the batch script - type "./flash-recovery.bat".
Of course don't forget to connect the phone before the usual way - disconnect the battery push volume down and connect it via USB.
Now it should flash or give you an error message...

I had understood that he has to flash only recovery, not the firmware
Hello!
Well he had problems flashing the Update and now the device seems to be bricked.
The suggestion was to flash Rustys disaster recovery and try to flash a new rom from there. Right know he is stuck in a device only showing the "wait S/W-Update" screen...
He also could try Smartflash and flash a new firmware stock or custom whatever...
Again - right now he is stuck with a brick.
If u r using stock rom & bricked whn doin update, try LG online recovery its in update application in situation update not successful it phone gets bricked.it simple process.

[Q] Verizon LG G2 Stuck in CWM Bootloop

Hey guys,
I accidentally selected the OTA that popped up on my phone while on a Stock ROM and now my Verizon LG G2 is stuck in a bootloop with CWM Recovery 6.0.4.4 I have tried to wipe everything and install a older CM ROM and Gummy ROM to see if that would get my phone to turn back on and it doesn't. I have researched many threads to see if there was a resolution for my issue, but everything that I tried did not work. I have a iMac and a Windows laptop and I have tried many things with Terminal and Command Prompt and nothing seems to work. I don't know if I am doing something wrong with ADB or if I am simply just missing other things, but I am trying to get my phone back un-rooted and back to stock to get my phone replaced under the warranty. PLEASE HELP!

Try the LG tools for bricked G2. Its somewhere on these forums. All you have to do is plug up to a computer and flash the stock ROM with the tool.

I tried the LG Flash Tool on a PC, but it gives me an error message LG USB/Parallel Lock Key is not detected and when I hit OK, it pops up with a Login with the Country filled in with Republic of Korea, ID and Password are left empty. I don't know what to do from there.
Enter into download mode by turning off your phone, then hold vol + and plug it to your computer.
Download the official firmware for your device.
Download FlashTool.1.0.54
unzip FlashTool.1.0.54, open the folder and launch UpTestEX.exe
Select type:3GQCT
Phone mode: DIAG
Select kdz file: browse for your official firmware
Then click: normal web upgrade test
Then click: Upgrade start
a new window will show, chose english language. Country: korea, then click ok and wait untill the firmware installs.
Good luck.

If ADB still recognizes your device, then yes, flash back your original aboot image. Otherwise, it's KDZ flash. Did you zero out your laf partition to enable fastboot? If so, put device in fastboot mode and flash aboot backup with
Code:
fastboot flash aboot "path/to/aboot.bin"

My device is completely dead...
It doesn't turn on.
No fastboot, no download mode, no adb, no life...
But when I connect the usb without the battery, the phone lights up and shows a missing battery icon. Only in that situation. other things do not work, the phone is "The Walking Dead, Last Season"
I think that the aboot is the bootloader of everything... but the question is "why does the phone show the missing battery icon, and then when I put the battery back it doesn't show anything...? No charging, [nothing].
Worked great on my new d410, thanks. I noticed cwm has no backup to ext sdcard. Its this a phone limitation or its from cwm recovery?, so I'll switch to twrp instead. Cus phone memory is too small for my full cwm backup

Hello all, I think I bricked my phone (lgl90 D410) I followed instruction from first post , also this is not the first time I do something like this on a phone.
Everything seamed to be fine during the process, but when I tried to boot in recovery the phone wont start at all, the only sign of "life" is when I pull out the battery and plug in the USB cable it shows maybe a warning that the battery is missing, that is all ((((,.
Can some one help me, can I fix this or I should go with warranty ? Thank you in advance !

(you can use cwm.img or twrp.img from quarx's cm11 thread)
in quick boot >>>click recovery>>grant super user
and you are in recovery.
i think this is a easy way as no one has to type commands on mobile which is cubbersome and liitle uneasy.
here you can copy paste if you want...

Thanks for suggestion buddy,
I am aware of this method. You are just using a PC for hole process, but what I am thinking is, that not every L90 user can afford a PC (in INDIA) , but can afford Terminal app for free from play store

LG L90 d415 TWRP Bootloop

UPDATED. Solution. Read last post.
Hi. please help... i've a TWRP 2.8.7.0 bootloop. i made a full wipe then installed any rom then cleaned cache/dalvik and pressed reboot and i've always returning to TWRP... no matter what I do I am returning to TWRP in any cases.
i have access to Download Mode, but can't install drivers because of windows could not find any driver in this folders so i can't flash kdz rom. i've downloaded this drivers from LG Support Tool: LG SP USB Driver, LG United Mobile Driver, LG USB WML Modem Driver.
LG-D415
s/w: v10c
Windows 7 Home Premium.
i need your help... thanks in advance

If you have access to your recovery why don't you restore from your back up?

I don't have a backup. By the way my download mode is damaged (answer of the LG service center). I need to restore/fix it, but how?
please someone. i need to restore a Download Mode. how to fix it?
laf.img is that Download Mode? Please share a file or give a link. thanks.
from the beginning... i had official t-mobile rom 4.4.2 + root + TWRP 2.8.5.0. Month ago i've got an ota from t-mobile for 860Mb. i think that was android 5.0. yesterday i've downloaded it and restarted. Then it lost and failed to flash because TWRP loaded. I did a restart but TWRP loaded again. Download Mode with white letters on a black screen (attach #1), but i remember it was something like that (attach #2)
i think i need to adb my phone and via fastboot then
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot erase laf
fastboot flash laf laf.img
restart phone and with working Download Mode to flash KDZ via LG Flash Tool??? am i right?
i've extracted KDZ file then DZ file and found laf_278528.bin but not laf.img
I DID IT.
install google universal driver for fastboot.
then with CMD command with admin privileges flash laf.img from t-mobile android official 4.4.2
cmd
cd C:\adb
into adb folder in C:\ put laf.img file
enter
adb devices
Click to collapse
fastboot flash laf laf.img
Click to collapse
then unplug usb cable and press power button for 5 seconds to turn it off.
then press vol+ and plug usb cable... hurray download mode fixed.
then install needed drivers from LG United Driver and run LG Flash Tool with administrator privileges
then Select type: 3GQCT
PhoneMode: emergency
Select KDZ file:
T-Mobile (D415rd10c_00) https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347761018
or T-Mobile, (D415rd10e_00) https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347760593
then press NORMAL FLASH and in the next windows press START and wait until it ends and will restart phone. Thats it.:good:
