[Q] JUWE 5.1 How to install removed apps? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, how can I install removed apps from JUWE's ROM v5.1.?
He provided an ZIP file with all of the removed apps and some other files (needed for installation?). When I try just to install a single app like usualy it doesnt work.
My question is: How to install just one of these removed apps back (not all of them - Im interested mainly in thinkfree ... )

I think you have to flash the *.zip-file in recovery, then after booting you will be able to remobe the unwanted apps.

At least you need a market app already on your phone.
I think all other ones you can install....
GApps package includes more than just the Google Apps... there are some Google Sync and Backup apps as well... but you could trim down the package to include only those files and remove the actually apps like Gmail...

How can I do it ?
Remove apk's from zip?
Yeah you gotta install gapps or you won't get access to the market

You need some parts of the GApps part... but you can get rid of all the application like FB, Twitter, GMail, Youtube which are now available via the market. If you want to trim down the package... remove all "now-in-the-market" apps from the zip file and resign it and flash it (search for resigning instructions). If you use clockwork recovery, you can turn off signature checks and leave the zip unsigned and flash it.
You should always update to the latest gapps when available. If you don't, and google releases an update to a google app, it will be installed in the nexus one's pathetic internal storage area. (Yes you can then move it manually using rootexplorer to system data)

Flashable cwm zip to remove OnScreenPhone completely!

Hallo everybody,
I created a flashable zip, that removes the OnScreenPhone app and its components (drivers etc.). This will save a lot of battery in GB roms, because it doesn't remove the app only.
I attached the zip file. Flash it with cwm but do a backup before for safety.
And for all of them, who want modified settings.apk:
Here's a cwm package with modified V20o settings.apk without OSP and updater (you can remove omadmclient.apk to save ram):

What is the difference when using your zip flash and freezing it with titanium?
The zip file removes the complete app (apk and odex) and the bin and lib files (drivers etc.).
If you only freeze the app, the drivers and other components consump battery tough. The zip removes the app, 2 bin files and 2 lib files.
this is very useful! thank you man
I have only froze it with Titanium, but have found a guide for completely remove it manually and then you came in perfect timing with flashable zip .
stupid question but how do u install this zip?

The same way you always installs .zip
In the recovery menu
is it normal that the reboot take server minutes? for a moment I thought it had corrupted the rom and I was preparing smartflash xD

Sounds good. But If I want to install it back, can I do it from a Titanium restore of the app or a full CWM restore?
You can make a cwm restore, then you've it again.

hi, do the zip also remove the "On Screen Phone settings" on Setting.apk? Thanks
After flashing through CWM, I still continue to have the OSP menu in the settings ....anything more to do?
Thanks in advance

OSP is an app to control the phone with the pc.
i will try it. thanks for your work

Nice job! Happy to see a freed menu now.
Thanks a lot. I can't understand this "feature", why i should connect my phone with a pc to do the same things i can do with device directly? Makes sense only if the screen is damaged... for this little advantage, there is big disadvantage -> less battery life. LG, sell a phone with small RAM, but having xxx senseless background tasks running in stock.
No, this app can be very useful, as you have many more features than mass storage connection.
But I prefer using non branded apps like Remote Web Desktop or even vnc server apps, as they are not specific to a phone and can be used the same way if you change your device or if you have several different devices (like a phone and a tablet etc..)

Rom apps

On Illuminance, there are some included apps (Polaris office, etc.)
If I switch to another similar ROM, another kk4 ROM or any that is compatible, and I want to use that app, is the best way to "bring" it is to back it up with Tibu? (presume it will be available to restore on the new ROM?) or is it better to extract the .apk from the ROM?
Thanks
Do both..if the tibu restore gives you issues, just install the apks.

Thank you
My suggestion is to install the apks directly, will save you lot of pain.

Some Rom questions about apps

Hello, i have some questions about the inbuilt apps in a rom.
1. There are always tons of useless apps in the roms, are there roms without apps? i mean why the hell is someone preinstalling facebook, twitter, google+ apps for me??? If i need them i can install them... :/
2. Can i remove the normal "browser" or will the phone get buggy then, couse who needs 2 browsers?
3. Why are so much Rom builders are using this ES filebrowser? I never saw a bad app like that.. it can't even tell me how much free space my sd card has..

1. you can just uninstall them by rooting your phone and use titanium backup to remove those useless application, there are no rom without any application installed if there is the phone will not work on how it supposedly work
2. yes you can use titanium backup but do nandroid backup just to be sure that you can back to phone normal state if there is a problem exist
3. for this i really don't know just wait and there's someone surely answer your questions more intelligently
Ah okay.. yeah well sure an android phone need apps to work, but its just that i had to remove them all again
about the browser... i also can freeze them - if i freeze an app it won't use any ram memory right? so i could just freeze the browser.. Apps that are not system relevant i really delete.. speak memo, twitter, google+, googlemail and so
I made a backup of my CM7 with titanbackup - how can i get some data out of the backup? like phone numbers that aren't synched with google - or whatsapp messages? The first time i did recover the whole CM7 was recovered
And is there a way to "cook" the rom myself? i hope its the same word like it was for nokia roms there you had a rom browser and could delete apps or add apps you wanted to install with the rom and that was called cooking.. So if i get a rom i would check what apps are in and could remove the .apk

Yes you can free ram if your browser keep running but you can force stop the browser in "manage application"
In backup i think you can extract it? Not so sure so we should wait for answer for this
I think the right word is compiling in android terms? Yes you can compile your own rom there's a some tutorial in development section

Ah okay.. i found the folder "apps" in the .zip with "system" apps - maybe the system apps that are not removeable without root and the normal.. can i just remove them and add others?

List of bloat safe to delete from system\app?

Hi,
Does anyone know of a list of which APK's can be safely removed from the app folder in stock 4.3 without breaking anything?
There's a pretty good list in this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2607321 - but it lists what has been removed from a ROM yet to be flashed.
I'm not sure if removing any of those files from a ROM already up and running will be a killer move?
You will find a lot of apk's can't be removed without root ie system and Samsung ....

Thanks, I have root (SuperSU & Busybox).
Don't think I'd even be able to see into that folder without it.
Themes and Apps has a safe to remove thread .
