[Q] LG-P970-V10c update? - LG Optimus Black

Currently running on Noejn's Nova v1 and testing the experimental version out.
Went to update the LG PC Suite from scratch when I was asked to update the software to v10c. I stopped as I'm just playing with the Nova 1 for now.
Question: Does anybody have any information on what exactly v10c has improved, if anything? I have had a quick look round and cannot see anything mentioned.
Just for information I'm from the UK and currently with T-mobile (Not sure if that is needed). Apology's if this has already been asked/mentioned, I'm new here so please don't bite

[Q] T-Mobile Galaxy Tab - Few Questions

Hi guys, just this week I got a new Galaxy Tab from T-Mobile, so far so good, but I have a few questions about it.
1-) This is my first time using Android, is there a better version or ROM for this particular tab (or another that is fully compatible) which I should flash into it which is better or gives me more functionality than the default Android installation that T-Mobile puts on it?
2-) How are upgrades of Android OS obtained? I heard 3.0 is out, any ideas if Samsung or T-Mobile will make it available on these devices?
3-) Can "Line2" be used with it? I noticed when I'm connected to Wi-Fi at home Line2 works, but when I'm connected to 3G it wont work.
4-) Is it easy to install Themes on the Galaxy Tab, any tutorials?
5-) Any specific tricks/tweaks or apps, that are a must have for Galaxy Tab owners?
Thanks in advance!

I also just got my SGT T-mobile. What is the model number of your tablet? What is the Baseband version of your tablet? Have you rooted yours?
Mine's model is SGH-T849, Baseband T849UVJJB, and yes, I downloaded a program from this board which supposedly roots it, after installing and running the commands it said it had successfully rooted my device, now how do I know if it is really rooted?
Also what's the Baseband? lol sorry but I'm lost, this is my first ever tablet and also first ever Android OS device.

We both have the same model and baseband. I'm not sure what baseband is. You can check to see if your tablet is rooted by going to Applications and look around to see if you can find a Superuser icon.
If it's rooted, I guess your next step is to find a custom ROM and flash it.
Do you remember what you used to root your tablet? Was it SuperOneClick?
Yes, it was the SuperOneClick one from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=812367
Baseband is the modem you have. The modem controls the phone, wirelass data, wifi, and bluetooth. Yours is JJB.

Well, I'm not an expert but here is my experience:
1. You should flash the new Overcome experience Hermes:
http://overcome.mimzo.com/
There is also the unofficial cyanogenmod beta, but as you said the overcome is fully compatible and it will not change the feel of the Tab, just adds to the functionality.
2. The updates are two types:
# Official, these are over the air and you will find notifications in the notification area to tell you that there is a new update, or may be through kies for Samsung.
# Unofficial, which is basically flashing other ROMs whether official or custom.
# As for Android 3.0 (which is called honeycomb), it is not officially coming to the Tab. May be after the 3.2 announced a couple of days ago, but I still don't think so. Still, you might want to follow this thread as there are trials to get it fully working on the Tab:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122959
3. I don't have any idea about this, as I got mine used and then I rooted and flashed it the day I got it.
4. Of course there are themes for the Android. This Overcome I was telling you about has a Gold theme. There are a lot of ways to get themes on the Tab. I myself use different home launchers with different themes. You don't need to flash anything if you are just looking to change the looks of your device. Check this out and let me know if you like it:
Go Launcher EX https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gau.go.launcherex&feature=search_result
There are a lot other but this is my favorite. You can even change the fonts of the display.
5. The most common used tips and tweaks that you should use is over-clocking/ under-volting which gives you more speed and less battery drainage.
As for the apps, these are my favorites:
Tango, Photfunia, ezPDF reader, Movies (or IMDB), Springpad (or Catch), File Expert, Go Launcher, Go weather, Google Goggles, Google Shopper, Just reader, Splashtop, Plex, GrooveIP. I guess there are more on my device but these are the ones that I found more functional and fun to use.
Hope this helps...
Thanks rangercaptain,
Hey ahmadshawki, thanks so much, I will check out all of your suggestions, does overcome comes with Gingerbread?
Yes it does.

Any 2.2 rom is froyo (frozen yogurt).
Any 2.3 rom is gingerbread.
You can have either "flavor". They are both in the development section. Both are highly recommended.
Hi guys,
I've been visiting this forum for more than 6 months now, but I think this is my first post. I have a T-Mobile SGH-T849 GT-P1000.
Last year I unlocked it and changed it to a Gingerbread Euro. Below is the current setup:
Firmware version 2.3.3
Baseband version P1000XXJPZ
Kernel version 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #2
Build number GINGERBREAD.XXJQ1
Tab has been working fine, with the exception of:
- often does not remember wi-fi hotspots automatically, need to switch off/on wi-fi to do this
- 3G & phone works erratically. I don't use it as a phone, but those times that I tried I noticed the phone would loose connectivity to the mobile network and needed a reboot in order to fix it.
I'd like to upgrade it to Ginger 2.3.6, but which rom should I use? I checked on the forum, but I'm not sure if I should use this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1380595&page=3
or any other.
Is my modem correct or should I use this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902323&page=4
to install JL5 modem?
Sorry for the noob questions.
I have a galaxy tab 7+ sgh-t869 I need to chance my build prop in order to play order and chaos online it doesn't support operating system I have no idea how to chance it or what to change it to please help thanks

Updates are worthy?

My bro has a Telcel OB and we flashed succesfully to CM7 and loving it.
Sent from my OC'd Motorola™ Atrix®

waiting for the gingerbread update ...

Got my Galaxy Note...but...

Hey Guys I got my galaxy note today! it's awesome!!!....but...I immediately tried to check for updates... but after agreeing with the terms and conditions, it says "Registration is failed. Try Again?".
How can I get around this and update my device OTA?
Here's my phone info:
Model: Galaxy Note GT-N7000
Android: 2.3.6
Baseband: N7000XXKK5
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XXKKA
have you tried installing Kies on your PC, then connecting the Phone via cable so that Kies can update it?
4.0 isn't available through OTA atm so you'd need to do the Kies thing

I'm doing that right now! Thanks! ... I guess my Galaxy Nexus habits are hard to break! LOL!
Sorry to hijack the thread but I also got my G.Note, but yesterday . Got it from Amazon Germany, and as soon as I took it out and connected it to the Wifi Internet it said that it had found the OTA update for the ICS.
I cancelled the update as I was not sure if it was worth it. I hear so many people saying that Gingerbread runs smoothly but that ICS is a pain. I also hear about all the camera bugs, etc that ICS has.
The question I have is: Should I keep with Gingerbread for a while longer or should I just update to ICS?
Thank you all for your advice.

I have tried Criskelo ICS, CM9, Stunner, Liquid Smooth and various GB roms. Even though I like some features of the ICS rom, I eventually settle for Chrack GB rom. It run smooth with good battery life and I have no problem runing all the applications I needs. I suggest that you use your GB rom for awhile before trying to update.

there were several updates to note (at least on mine, Base/Eplus Contract btw)
before ICS, and since ICS is not yet available OTA i think you can hit update on your phone until there are none left, then you should have the most recent Gingerbread version.
for ICS, see last post: Kies update^^
Sadly i already did the Samsung Kies update to ICS and now i have some battery problems (google cloud service and several other Wakelocks draining like a *****)
apart from that little problem ICS is working fine
Hi all and thank you for your input.
As for the last post from Aiphares, I can confirm that there is an OTA update for ICS for my phone.
If I hit update it says that an important 4.0 ROM is available and that it will be 316mb (if I remember it correctly). If I wanted to update now or later.
So I did hit later to see what your replies would be, as I did not want to be one of those asking for help how to revert to gingerbread because my phone could have horrible battery drain, or any other known ICS bug.
I would really like to have a working ICS on my phone, and hopefully something that would improve the S Pen, so that I could actually use it for my daily annotations (minutes of meetings, etc.).
Why can't Android battery just improve, I remember that from Froyo to Gingerbread the battery got much better. Well we can't have it all with these dual cores running in our pockets.
As for the custom ROMs I first want to try the official ones, and if I am am not happy with them, I'll read and read so to prevent triangles and than I'll try a Custom stable ROM.

Please do you people even read this forum?? If i was you and read all the threads about bugs (eMMC) etc. etc. i wanted to wait a bit more. Ok, you just might get lucky (or not) and wipe the phone ten times but if you're not prepare to go to the store and claim your warranty !!!
Please read the topics about bugs on ICS.

good to know that there is the OTA update now,
well if you feel uncomfortable you can always wait it out, i'm sure there will be more ICS updates and bugfixes

For those new to flashing ICS, recommended read is my FAQ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1895496
It's based on earlier ICS ROMs, for the WiFi and 10.1 models, and will be updated if these new ROM introduce new issues or behave differently
Edit: I made a CWM flashable zip
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050205
Finally.I'm downloading and will flash it soon.thanks..
Good, let us know if it wipes anything it shouldn't. Usually these odin ROMs don't (if you don't ask for it in Odin), but some do
Downloading now. I can't wait for the "When is Jelly Bean going to be released" threads to start popping up
I just bought P7300 yesterday, and this is good news
Anyone tried it yet?
is there any difference/improvement over tracid's rom ?
It seems more stable than Tracids, but generally about the same.
I'm happy so far, rooted with all the apps and fonts I want.
since noone tried it yet, I downloaded and tried it on my Asian GT-P7300 16GB ... and so far so good, seems snappier.
However Antutu Scores went down from 5693 to 5251 now
Attached is the screenshot. Time to sleep now.
i have made CWM version!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1858251
*P7320 Version also availble*
gt7300
Sweet...Tnx!
1st went wrong
I tried to install but Odin froze and (later I discovered ) wiped SD card, luckily everything went well on 2º time.
By the way, the link for CWM recovery at the FAQ is broken, so I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312218
I bet battery life would be as bad as for us

I've just installed this onto my UK P7300. I used Odin to install it, and it worked like a charm. I only have two small issues:-
1. It kept all the apps I had running on the orginal Honeycomb OS, except it deleted the Memo app - rather annoying because I had made a few important notes for work which appear now to be lost. I did backup with Kies before I installed ICS, so perhaps I can find a text file somewhere on my PC...anyone know where to look?
2. There is a flickering screen when I have auto-rotate switched on, and also on google play - no big deal but annoying.
Update: I've installed Nova Launcher, and the screen flicker seems to have gone
- Much smoother than HOneycomb by the way! - I had been thinking of swapping for a Nexus7, but most of the lag has now gone... it's really quite noticeable
This thing will keep all downloaded apps, but as it replaces your system partition, it can remove apps that were previously part of the stock ROM in your region. I've noticed before that different regions can include slightly different vendor-provided apps.
update via kies stuck at 40% -> message: update not successful blah blah -> used the recover option in kies -> boot after finished -> works
seems to be more stable and responsive. missing the old widgets (clock and agenda) overall look and feel was imho more homogeneous in hc.
launcher is a way smoother but imho just because they changed implementation from scrolling background image to fixed.(i used "Simple Image Wallpaper" on hc for this with same effect)
ps: usb/sdcard adapter and keydock working

What was originally on your tab before you used the Open Austria ROM? Were you already on ICS using tracid's or still on HC before your recent upgrade?
Just wondering which ROM you were using which got the higher score. Thanks.
I was on honeycomb os that came on my tablet from new, I've since installed the stock ics Open Austria rom and just ran the test above and scored 5624.

Gear Manager problems after KK update

Hi, after updated my Note 3 to 4.4.2, my Gear Manager is unstable, it hangs when I'm trying to enter settings or contacts, screen goes black and then i get a FC.
I have searched (like always) but haven't found any solution.
I have tried everything (clear data app, uninstalled GM, wipe my both Gears, nothing changed)
I have made a clean flash of KK on my Note 3.
I have also downgraded GM to 1.5 from 1.6...
I have no more idea of what I can do now.
Fortunately, both Gears works as they should but this GM issues drive me crazy.
Gears are running last ML1 (stock, unroot)
Any help/advice is welcome.
Cheers, Ros

I have the same problem. I remember reading somewhere that you need to have 1.6 for it to work with Kitkat, but it constantly crashes when entering settings. However i'm not sure if 1.6 has been officially released yet? I'm pretty sure it wasn't when i installed it 2 days ago, so hopefully it will have been fixed when it's hopefully very soon officially released, can't imagine Samsung officially releasing obviously broken software.

Sounds like it is best to either use old versions, or wait for official. 1.6 and ml1 are leaks
I have the same problem..what I do uninstall gm 1.6..download gm 1.5 at samsung store..reset the gear n not restoring the gear bakup..I have to reset it twice n reboot the phone then it all ok now..im using official poland KK with null 19 (ml1) on gear..

Stick to official 1.5 version, it is still solid stable, just a bit slow when connecting, wait Samsung release official 1.6, I believe they is some issue on it, that why still not yet get release. Current appear 1.6 is leak version.
By the way I am under MK7 official release for my GEAR ROM, not the leak ML21 as well.

Having seen the problems that KK has brought with it, there is no way I'm letting that software anywhere near my phone or gear. I realise there are those of you that simply MUST HAVE the latest updates, even before they are tested properly, but this update IS NOT READY yet. The differences between JB4.3 and KK 4.4 are so minimal, its just not worth the risk or download at this time. As the old saying goes...."if it ain't Broke........"!!!

I never regret updates to KitKat and it is official, it is the best ROM so far I use in Note 3. The smoothness is no way any 4.3 ROM can compare. Also this KitKat ROM is solid stable. I don't have GEAR connection or FC issue, if you look against all facing problem is cause of using leak ML1 GEAR ROM + Leak Gear Manager 1.6
The only issue at KitKat is SD card writable issue which can be simply fix and that actually not really Samsung problem but instead KitKat change the requirement, any apps that had that issue just need the dev updates it to fulfill KitKat requirement.
The counterfeit S View cover not working is not a bugs but obvious Samsung did to stop the counterfeit.
