I am having strange charging issues for the last few days. I have changed ROM (complete wipe) several times to solve the issue and to check if it's software issue. But, it seems to me the issue is caused by neither ROM nor stock charger.
The problems which I'm having are;
1. It charges really slow even with the stock wall charger. It takes almost 8 hours to charge 99% and it never says battery full.
2. Even if I charge my GTab while the tab is turned off completely, it never says BATTERY FULL". I have tried charging it for 12 hours.
3. After connecting to charger my GTab beeps after a few seconds (5 - 10 seconds).
4. When it finishes charging (say, 99%) and if I disconnect the charger, the battery shows cross sign (not charging battery logo). After a reboot the cross sign goes away. It happens whenever I disconnect the charger.
4. I have tried stock ROM (Gingerbread) and Overcome ICARUS. Both are giving me the same strange issues.
Can anyone recommend me any solution which I can try with my ROM?
I have one question. Is your picture in attachment showing stock rom? Why is the baseband version showing DXJPD while Build number showing DXJPE? Is it both should shown the same DXJPE??

Yes, the ROM installed is stock ROM. Is it both should shown the same DXJPE?? Not really, I changed the modem to JPD. I tried JPZ and JK3 too.

try to flash overcome stock safe it will wipe everything for you , and after that check whether you issue solved or no
btw , abour (99%) after you unplug your tab from the charger , this thing is happening to us all , after the battery says full charge you unplug it shows (99%) wiping the battery status is not a ( solution ) and there is nothing to solve this issue
try to flash stock safe from samsung
could you tell me are you using the ORIGINAL charger or no ?

Bro, thanks for your reply. I tried flashing Overcome ICARUS with stock safe v4. The issue was same.
Regarding 99% battery charge; I know about full charge and when we unplug it shows 99%. But, I said it never crosses 99% and it never says "Full Charge".
I am using stock ROM from Samsung right now.
And, yes ... my charger is original ...

The beeping from the tab while on the charger means your charger is dying. I had the same issue, replaced the charger, and no more problems. It's not a rom issue.
99% is the best you can get.

I will lend a friend's charger today and will test with that charger to check what happens. If I get the same result then I will try discharging completely and charging it for 8 hours for sure .
discharge it 1st and check by your friend charger , this is the right way to go with

Hello there!
I recently tried a custom ROM for my X8, I'm using MiniCM7, found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964223
However, the description says Offline Charging is supported, but after I installed the ROM I noticed it didn't work.
So I started searching for a solution here in the forums, but I could only find one thread about stock firmware =/
Is there a way to add this feature in a custom ROM?
I tried to contact the thread author, but no sucess.
Thanks in advance!

The "problem" is that the phone ONLY charges if it's ON!
So, when I connect the charger it turns the phone auttomatically ON, if i turn it OFF it goes back on and so it goes.
The option that makes the phone charge while OFF is called Offline Charging, but it is not working, got it?
When I empty the battery, and phone turns off automaticly, it charges offline. Else it's turns back on. BTW I don't see the point why you must charge your phone offline. Just turn on Airplane mode!
Really? I thought offline charging is that when you turn off your phone, the battery would charge without being plugged in. When I reboot my phone, the battery percentage is always, like, 15% higher. I thought that was offline charging

1 - Charge to 100%
2 - Turn Off the Phone
3 - Go to Recovery Mode
4 - Wipe Battery Stats
5 - Use your phone to uncharge your battery completly
6 - Charge to 100%
And now check if that bug is still happening
If is still happening that, then... ask a friend for a X8 Battery only to see if is a bug or your battery damaged.
Well, it seems that the ROM was updated to 2.0.7 and now the Offline Charging feature is working.
Thanks for those who tried to help
MiniCM7 2.0.7 has offline charge and it working fine as I had a dead battery over a hour ago so I plug it in and 4get to turn it on I have just turned it on ten min from this post and to my eye after bootloader ect it was fully changed So MINICM7 2.0.7 HAS OFF-LINE CHANGE if you install it right that is

As of a few days ago i can no longer use the device while on the charger without losing charge....fast! (ive used the device while charging for the past 9mo).
Same on any kernel, any rom....any of the 3 Samsung batteries I have.
Any ideas?
Is the phone warming up or getting uncomfortably hot? The only thing i could think of is the battery has reched the end of its useful life..
===EDIT===
I was not able to read the last part that you said you tried 3 diff batteries.. LOL my bad..
Mostly it happens when you use incompatible charges (Not the original ones) which doesn't charge battery to its full voltage.
Replace it and check if its solved. If not you can calibrate battery or replace the battery.
Check battery status under settings and see if you have a file running "gpsd". A few times this bug would hit my phone using 63% and drain my battery while charging.
I would have it charge all night to disconnect in the morning and get a warning my battery us low.
To fix I would place my phone in airplane mode, turn off and turn back on, remove airplane mode and it would be back to normal.
Check to see if you have the bug.

Try to install betterbatterystats and check for any wakelocks on your phone. Wakelocks are dreaded battery juice killers. And I agree, turn off your phone at night and in the morning, check back on the BBS what process is working at the background (of your phone).

This problem is occurred to me also. all my devices are original.
this problem was found only when I used stock rom ics 4.0.4, but not found with custom rom as paranoid, cm9, cm10 etc.
try to flash custom rom, you will solve the problem.
Mine has allways done this, whether stock or custom rom. With orginall charger too. I put it down in my case due to being on skype. It also gets vvhot. This is with the original bat.also a samsung spare.

OK I had this problem before, and I solved it by changing charger and clean rom install, I think it is a mix of hardware and software issue, hardware as it is linked with no. Of pin in the charger, I think when the phone discharge while charging the phone see the cable as USB otg so it give it power, any way, change the charger and install any from with trying different kernels
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
My GT-N7000 yesterday developed this issue:
When I boot it (no USB cable to power it), the battery shows empty (grep battery icon, with a charging circle).
A second or so later, it switches to show a half-full battery, with charging dots below. and it vibrates for about a second.
Again, another second ro so later it goes back to showing an empty battery and the cycle continues.
If I attach a UCB charging cable, it boots fine, shows the battery as 100%
If I remove the charging cable, it loses power. When switched on again, this all starts over.
I saw this on ICS (4.0.4, stock, German) and there i also had the battery icon in normal more switching between
charging and blinking to not charging. I found a recommendation that upgrading might help, so I
did apply the JB update I had downloaded a few days ago, but this does happen
under JB too (OTA German 4.0.4, then flashed with Phil's-stock plus cwn6)
Is there anything can can be done? Is this a hardware issue or something that some form of total reset might cure?
As it is, I cannot use the phone w/o having it externally powered through my powerbank or car charger.
This happens with two batteries, so it's not the battery that is broken
I really think this one is battery problem as I have experienced the same thing..
are the batteries you tested New?
just my 2 cents.

No, I've had both a fow a while.
I may buy a third just to test but I fear I may have to get a replacement phone soon , sniff
Though I would suggest that you get a new set of batteries...they solved the problem for me.
While you are at it, please search the forum for another solution that worked for me- "cleaning the micro-usb slot"...its an easy process but needs to be done a little carefully.
either of the two would definitely work for you...speaking from experience!

I kept as it is without data connection or wifi for a hour and found that though the phone is charging (even with indications on battery icon( the actual battery percentage was decreasing (From 20% to 15%). Is this kernel problem as I have King's Kernel?? Flashing stock kernel will fix it???

You had problem with data connection before? Or it was someone else?
Two things come to my mind:
1. USB connector on your phone - go to service center to fix it.
2. Battery is faulty.

If you are out of warranty then I think it will cost. Do you have data connection when you connect it to PC? If yes, then maybe battery is broken.
May not be a bettery problem

It also may be your kernel or your rom problem
Because i too used to face the same problem but after flashing to some different rom the problem seemed to be solved
you can also test your battery by different apps available
Hit the THANKS button if this helps you
When I was sami os i was also facing the same problem, people suggested me to change my battery but i changed the rom and kernel and it worked so firstly
1) I would prefer you to change your rom and kernel
If this also doesnt work then I would prefer you to change your battery!!

hello friend,
I had the same problem with sansung SII (i9100) ...
The problem is the flex cable USB ...

I hope I helped
phone says 100% but says 80% when off charging
Tried:-
1. 2 different battery callibration apps
2. charging 100%, depleting battery. repeated process a couple of times
3. Switched to Stock (Rooted), 2 Custom ROMs (Waited till it was 100% on both on and off before flashing)
Notes:-
1. Battery seems perfectly fine (takes a while before depleting and doesnt deplete before 0%)
Currently using stock rooted
l would start with replacing the cable and charger to make sure you are getting a full charge. Then monitor the usage time on your phone over a few weeks and see if the time to empty is getting less that is a sure sign of a bad battery
Recheck with another fast charger. Generally, we cannot say if is a faulty cable or you have an faulty adapter. I hope the device chargeboard is not shot/motherboard driven related issue. Also, have you recovered the device using Samsung Kies- Emergency firmware recovery?

I think its a usb port problem for sure.. Do one thing while connected to the charger go to device maintenance and open battery menu and see if it say charging via AC or USB if while us8ng the original charger it shows Chaging via USB then certainly its the port that has gone faulty..

Hello everyone! Though its not the right place to ask the question but I have been seeking solution to my problem from months. Long time before, my Galaxy Note II started to behave differently. Whenever I charged it completely, the phone worked normally till 75% to 80% and all of sudden a =low battery warning indication appears and phone proceeds to shut down. I tried changing ROM and calibrating the battery again but nothing worked. Finally I replaced the battery with a new one and also clean flashed another ROM in a hope to see if the problem is gone or still there. But to my surprise the problem is still intact. Now, when I turn on the phone the battery is 90% and when I keep using it, it drains normally, but as soon it reaches round about 80%, it turns off randomly. When I turn the phone back on the battery is still at the same percentage level at which is turns off. I believe there is not an issue with the battery. Please help me what to do, I am using TWRP recovery that doesn't gives the battery stats wipe option too. Should I flash a new ROM again? I would greatly appreciate if someone please helps me in sorting this problem.
What I have already done!
1. Replaced the battery
2. Changed the ROM
3. Re-calibrated the battery

I have noticed the same issue, I think. I suspect it is a general bug.
Guys, try charging your phone while in Android. When it reads 100%, switch off your device. Either leave the charge cable attached or reattach it after you have switched off. Now wait for the off-line charging icon to appear. Unless I'm mistaken, the percentage won't correspond with whatever your phone reports while your in Android. If Android says 100%, this will be a lower number. And off-line charging will keep on charging until you reach 100%.

Sorry for the late response. Internet finished, had to wait until the renewal date. During this time, i wiped the rom and re-installed it (Khongloi V11). Since there was no internet, i didnt sign in any accounts, Switched off the location. The phone surprisingly took 3 days before reaching 0.
Indeed, it says USB Charging 6hrs. I sometimes keep plugging and unplugging, it changes to A/C 2hrs.
I have this problem too. But I change batt_capacity_max to 1000, phone on 100% phone off 100%. If we recharge to full it will return to the same state (phone on 100, phone off ~80) so i need to change again. I don't know if this destroy my battery life ? I don't know why. I thought I'm the only 1 who have this problem? (sorry for my bad english)
I think this may be a software/firmware problem, not a problem with the battery.

I figured that was the problem but i tried it with three different roms (Khongloi V11, Final, Stock).
Maybe it's some kind of battery protection thing created when your battery is old or something?

The various ROMs may all use the same battery raportage code, which doesn't account for this discrepancy. After all, most ROMs are just fancy reskins of stock Android.
That said, maybe Samsung support can shed some light on what's going on.
On a side note? Is there anyone who reads this thread, whose reported battery charge (in percentages) is the same in Android as when the device is switched off and charging?
So... any solutions?
