[Q] CM7 and Bell Inc S - HTC Incredible S

OK, I've been reading alot of threads where Bell Inc S users are having problems with CM7. Notably, 3G not working.
Have a few Bell Inc S users managed to get CM7 to work properly?
I'm wanting to install CM7, but that would require me to upgrade to a GB radio. But I don't want to do this if 3G stops working...
Thanks!

My bell inc s is unlocked on rogers. Works great with cm7 just make a new apn after your flash which is pretty standard for custom roms

Oh, really?? You're not having any troubles with 3G or delayed texts or anything? And how did you go about upgrading your radio to a GB one? I'm having trouble doing that... (And yes, I've read through alot of "Here's How" threads...)

I have an Inc S on Bell and have been running CM7 nightlies for a few weeks and haven't had any issues with texting or 3G issues.
I used this method to upgrade my radio a few days ago.

Go to post #15. Hope this helps.
Also I don't have HTC Sync installed as the thread suggests but it worked just fine for me regardless.

I'm on Fido. Hopefully I won't have issues with 3g, etc. I'm gonna try to upgrade my radio again. Hopefully this time it works...
Any suggestions as to which radio to use?

I am currently using 3805.06.03.03 radio for GB and it is working well for me.

I'm on Fido with a Bell Incredible S and I get 3G connection.
Flash the recommended radio from the CM7 Original Post, choose the correct APN and you should be good to go.

Stock tmobile flash rom

Hello,
Is there anyone who has this file? Or knows how to make a proper dump?
I think we need a REAL dump 100% working for TMO.
Thanks to all that help.

thank you MS_guru (forever in my good graces)
There are numerous differences b/t stock and the MS_Guru one and some of the bloatware being removed is the only positive one I can find. It has lots of problems. (i.e. market missing tons of apps, lots of problems w/ sync constantly running, media scanner running over and over, USB connction to pc is unreliable, ROM rebooting randomly,)
Huge, huge thanks to MS_Guru for getting this (it saved more than a few of us) but I agree with the need for a 100% working stock ROM.

I Think the guy is asking about shipped rom, the one the guru posted is pre-released, I know there is a difference because I got my phone shipped and there was no T-mobile sync and some software was different. I wouldn't mind getting Original "shipped" rom myself, I have some fc and loss of 3G with guru's image.

We need the true flash. Not some hacked up stuff.
It has to be available on the inet? or creatable from our stock phones

Looking at the CSC files it looks like the release ROM is JFD that may help you track it down
From what i have heard about the rom posted here.
Its a pre-release rom. We need the real deal. I cannot believe no one on this forum doesnt know any TMO support guys. To get us a firmware.
It sucks that captivate users have access to a stock rom but we don't =/

I could make one, but I had already removed a ton of system apps before I flashed the recovery. SO Im not exactly stock. That said I never tired using the beta recovery, so Its all stock kernel, ROM, etc otherwise
Yours is going to be better than anything else we've got. Would you mind posting it?

Why doesn't the CDMA Hero need certain radios to run ROMs?

Well I've just been wondering... why do other phones (usually GSM) need specific radios flashed to them in order for some ROMs to work? What's so special about our phone where we can flash any radio, and any ROM will work with it? I'm just curious about this
I have always wondered this as well *scratches head* I was helping a friend root a tmo g2 and certain roms could only be on certain radios as you said and when I had a tmo tp2 it was the same way. Its only with GSM so I'm glad to have cdma network cause that's too much radio flashing for me.

Yeah I helped a friend root and install CM6 on his T-Mobile MyTouch... it was so much more complicated than the Hero.

2.3.6 Radio

I have a N1 on T-mobile and I updated to 2.3.6 which caused me to lose all data/voice capabilities (bsides wifi, bluetooth, etc).
I have been following the thread in the Nexus S forum regrading changing your radios - but cannot get one to write to my device (image error).
Is there a different radio I should be using? Could someone please point me in the right direction for a correct N1 Tmobile radio?
THANK YOU

There are only two radios for the Nexus One that you should be using on Gingerbread: 5.12.00.08 and 5.08.00.04. They both can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=744605

The 4.06 radio may still work, but when Google pushed the OTA to Gingerbread, the 5.08 radio came with it, so...
I am currently using the 5.08 radio to no avail. Where can I get 4 point...whatever?
I think that is what I need.
Thanks

EDIT: Make sure you don't flash a radio older than 4.06...
SOrry, I did not at first because I did not think either of those radios would work.
I flashed to 4.06...and still no connectivity.
Any other ideas?

Yeah. That's because there is nothing wrong with the 5.08 radio you had on T-mobile. You likely lost your apn settings.

[Q] What is a Custom Radio and what should I flash?

Hello Fellow HTC IncS Users,
I have a Query and a couple of "sub" queries at that.
I am a total noob when it comes to flashing custom RADIOS, so i was wondering if somebody could help me and give me a step-by-step guide on how to do so. Also,
- Can you tell me the benefits/disadvantages of flashing a custom radio?
- Can you tell me what radio to flash for the Stock ICS Rom  ? (Android 4.0.4 + Sense 3.6 WWE) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773520)
- Please do not remind me of the risks involved. (I will not hold you responsible for a bricked device, however do reply with some knowledge.)
Thanks in Advance, and also, does Custom Radios unlock my network? (Can I be GSM Free)?
Thank You,
Piccilino

With radios, generally I like to flash the latest and forget about it. There is not much of a difference with different radios, they impact greatly on battery life, performance, reception, data speed etc
You need to be S-Off
Latest radio in my sig, uploaded by nonverbose
Simply place zip on root of sdcard and boot into bootloader, it will get autodetected and you will be prompted for confirmation after a few seconds. Delete the zip after installation
Hey,
Thanks for the advice, but what radio should I flash? Also, what is the ratio of bricking my phone?
Sent from my HTC Incredible S
Oh thanks, but is this safe?

Also, for some reason I cannot visit d-host. Can u post a mirror? Much appreciated. And does installing a custom radio wipe my phone?

Dev host is down
Just wait for it, I'd rather download a trusted one than a dodgy one because the chance of bricking with a wrong radio is high.
Sent from my Nexus 7
So are u saying that nonverbose's radio is dodgy? If it is, which one do u suggest?
Sent from my HTC Incredible S
YAY!
Thanks to nonverbose for giving me the radio.. Worked like a charm
I just want to know, (Because I do not have another sim)
Does this network unlock??
THANKS SO MUCH!
Piccilino
No
So what radio does? I read somewhere that radios can potentially network unlock.

Not sure where you read that or got that idea, but that is not the case with the IncS.
Well i thought because you know, it controls all the outgoing calls etc. Just some common sense.
This is not true though...
Anyway, can u guys tell me what are EVERY SINGLE benefit/disadvantage of flashing a radio? I flashed the one that eRadicant suggested, and it works good..
(By working good i mean that it did not brick my device )
Ty.

With a good radio for your phone/region/carrier:
Better reception
Sometimes call quality
better battery
And vice versa for disadvantages when using a bad radio
Since you're in Melbourne and on Optus, I recommmend either the .11M radio from the virtuous leak/official ruu or the .28M one from the optus ICS OTA

[Q] Upgrading to ICS has lost me my signal :(

Hi,
I have a Galaxy S GT-i9000 on Orange, UK. I've only had it a week because I bought it off my brother. I upgraded to ICS 4.0.3 and although it seems fine, there is no signal at all, EVER. Although it get's wireless Internet! And the SIM isn't damaged in any way, so it is definitely a software issue. The Internet is a bit strange, because it is coming from my network, not Wi-Fi (it's off, as is bluetooth).
I'm liking ICS, but obviously I need a signal. It was easy to upgrade, I just booted from the zip I placed in the bootloader. But I can't downgrade the same way. I've tried looking for old Gingerbread files, but can't find any! All the Depositfiles.com links are dead. So, ideally I would like to stick to ICS and find a signal fix, failing that I guess it's a downgrade that I need?
Or should I upgrade to Jellybean?
I couldn't find anything on people having similar problems with network loss, but I'm 99.99% certain it is the software causing the issue.
Thanks for reading.

I'm downloading DarkyROM now, but it's going to take 2 hours! Is this the right way to flash a modem? I've not done it before.
Hi
I had a similar problem on my old SGSI. I flashed an ics rom (don't remeber the name) and everything worked apart from the network so no phone calls and no internet apart from with Wifi. Anyway i googled the problem and tried loads of different solutions. After flashing more roms i ended up with the DarkyROM_v11.0_black_edition with the 3.0.17-semaphore_ics_1.2.5s kernel.
This didn't help either. In a last minute test at the end of what felt like the longest day in my life i checked to find that i had damaged one of the contact pins that read the sim card. I bent it back and everything has worked since then. And it's worked well!
Thanks, it was the modem needed flashing! Very simple too I also downgraded to Gingerbread which is faster.
Thanks everyone :cyclops:
