[App] Prepay Widget - HD2 Android Themes and Apps

Hello everyone! I am the developer of Prepay Widget, a powerful app that allows you to monitor your account balance through USSD requests.
You can find more info about USSD on Wikipedia, but basically these are short, SMS-like messages used by most GSM and some CDMA providers to deliver information
or control account services. The actual information comes to you in the form of popup toasts, which thids app hides and parses into widgets.
You can find the apps landing page on XDA at the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12348102
However, i want to stress that its important that we get some device-specific feedback, so please post in this thread if you have issues,
this helps me keep track of bugs and requests better.
You can use the Lite version of the app - it has all the functionality of the full version apart from automatic updates (not really that important imo).
As I haven't got one of these phones in my pocket, I need some testers to track down problems. Please, use this thread to comment or
suggest features. It is my belief that addressing issues is best done individually by phone, so if something doesn't work, let me know and I will fix it ASAP.
Market link:
https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.ussd.widget.lite
Debugging:
Please use the "Write to developer" item in the Settings menu to send logs. Enable debugging, reproduce your error and then send the logs.
Make sure you include a description - the more detailed the description the better.
Screens:

I'm a postpaid user, but this will be very handy for others who uses Prepaid.
Thanks.

This will be useful for you as well - it can tell you things about your data and free minutes/ texts!

No takers?!

what do you mean?

App is now in Top New Paid on the market but there are so few reviews!

This is a BRILLIANT app. I like that it can read sms replies as well thats what sets it apart!

As i said... scaring me!

Cant use it dont understand what to do and what not....cant understand is it so complicated to setup or is it not working? Unable to setup widget or do anything...any tutorial to setup??

Do you know what USSD codes are? Have you actually read the help?

You have to google the USSD Codes your Carrier is supporting. This is the code you can dial on your phone keyboard. For instance if you dial *100# you receive a message with the amount of money you have if you are on prepaid. Sad for me, my carrier only supports this. Would be nice to know how much data I used. Looks like I still have to use the the Call Meter NG app for that which is a little complicated cause I change ROMs frequently.

Operators often dont fully disclose the codes.
If *100# works, try also *100*1# or *101*1#.
Or just call them and ask persistently.

Doesn't work for me. Just tried.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App

Can you be more specific? Did you check here:
http://www.prepaid-wiki.de/index.php5/E-Plus

I did, plus other pages. There are only two codes support by eplus.*100# and *104*xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx# to transfere
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App

I see - so the widget works, there are just no codes that you can find... have you called them to ask?

Yes, the application works just fine. Maybe I can call them tomorrow, right now it's nearly one o clock in the night did I thing nobody's there to answer
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App

Let me know if you do find some codes!

Tried different carriers here in Germany. They don't seem to support ussd codes for data usage. It's only possible to check and upload prepaid cash. Wether Vodafone, T-Mobile, O2 nor eplus for support that. Maybe it will be a future option.
Is that possible in other countries?
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App

It is! But it all depends on the operator. In russia for example i can get data, balance, sms and free minutes from my operator MTS using *100# for the former and *100*1# for the latter.
All gsm networks support these. Large operators often find it more efficient to use ussd instead of sms.

Voice search personalized recognition

Is personalized voice recognition option for voice search available in Canada? I am asking this cause I downloaded the update successfully but don't see that option for me.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I too installed the update, but not quite sure how it works...is it automatic? Do we have something to configure? Presets?
US only at this stage. Hopefull someone can mod the app
I don't know what variable it uses to decide. I tried setting it to US English but that doesn't help.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I tried that too and that doesn't help. I am not sure if the us market version is different from canadian one or if it is using ip address to determine the location. Can some from us post the apk please?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I think the apk is the same, it probably is just looking at our location based on the wireless network we're connected to or based on the GPS (i would tend to think it's more the first one )
That kinda sucks though... I mean, our English isn't so complicated, it's not such a big difference like UK English and US English...yeah, we do say "eh" quite often, but...

Using market enabler , and selecting a US Carrier will enable the voice features ( it uses the same checking mechanism as the market uses to see what country you are in so basically the MCC on the currently connected network)
Just so you guys know..after playing with it for a bit in a few different environments, it still pales in comparison to Vlingo. I think Google should just buy them out, because at this rate it will be a long time before voice actions in different areas of the phone are efficient enough for regular use.
I've had pretty good results with Google's Voice Search - and that was before this update. Having used Vlingo as well before, I stick with Voice Search - it's nice to have the capability built into the OS itself without having to use an add-on application, and the difference in performance in minimal (at least for me and how I use it).
Thought I was losing my mind... s'all good tho voice search is scary accurate already if you talk like the guy in the demo video its great for people who are good at impressions... I'm actually not kidding either. I've blown away iNoobs with it plenty of times

So this explains it. Using a T-Mobile Vibrant in Vancouver on a different network.. and for the life of me I can't get the 'Personalized Recognition' settings to appear.
It's VERY frustrating to hear that it's US-locked. Hell, half of the US barely speaks English as far as I can tell. =P
No workaround for this yet, I see.. sigh.

I imagine that's why they're test-releasing it in the US - a form of stress-testing. If it can handle all the different dialects and malformed sentences, it shouldn't be hard to get it to work where most of the people speak properly.

True, I get the voice thingy to work perfectly 99% of the time, whether it's in French or English, whereas most of the people here have a certain accent in both French and English and it probably works closer to 50% for them

Q: system diagnostic tools?

Hi,
I just dropped my phone. So far all still working nicely but I'm quite paranoid
Is there any apps or tool to diagnose our nexus one. Just checking if all system devices working properly (GPS, wifi, radio, touch screen, etc)
Cheers,

If it isn't a problem, don't make it into one. Just keep an eye on it, and watch for problems...

I spent half an hour to check my phone.
You would want to know as soon as possible if there's any devices damage, wouldn't you?
Is android system throws some informative message if there is hardware failure?

There's different apps to test the performance of different things (like network speeds), but I don't know of any all in one app that test things to make sure they are working...?

I used sony ericsson walkman phone before android. They have some secret menu that allows you to check screen, vibrate, keys test, sounds, etc
Is there anything like that on android?

anyone found one yet?
Old thread, but it came up in a Google search and it doesn't look like anyone's covered this elsewhere in this group.
Dropped my N1 over the weekend, and this morning noticed it's losing network & data regularly, and only connecting 2G, not 3G or 4G. Ugh. Hoping it's just sunspots, but it would be nice to be able to run diagnostics that test the various systems for any failures or out of spec values.
I've unlocked my N1 and am running cyanogenmod 7.2 if that helps.
Check out this link, it might have some useful apps:
http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/hardware+test
thanks!
Thanks for the link, I'll take a closer look at those.
The good news (?) is that it turns out T-Mobile had a data network outage for most of the day today. They buried it on their support website behind an east coast outage report for last weekend's heavy weather, so I didn't see it. Big thank you to All Things D for clueing me in, and I'm reinstalling my apps now.

SeeMe GPS Real Time Tracker [2.1+]

New realtime web tracking system, runs on any phone 2.1+
You can send links to people you want to share your position with. Has configurable "update" times and shows last update/update interval/battery status on the web tracking page (useful for example when you are outside, roaming wilderness for many hours and need to save those last 10% of battery by turn long update interval - people watching you do not freak out, why didn't you move for a long time).
Current status: works, I am optimizing the GPS usage for battery savings.

I am the author of this app and have one question - did you ever clicked on ads in this app? I am just trying to make a kind of "Survey" between users to know, which way to go. I have the paid version, but it doesn't sell well, so I made the Ad-supported version, listed in Google Play for free, but not many people click the ads.
What do you think? Do you think, that having the app free, supported with ads is viable option for me?
Does this application allows recording and upload tracks?
I`m looking for app like old GPSed for iOS and Blackberry.

For the most part if I use and like an app, I will get the paid version. Outside of that, I don't see the ads, and I would not click on them if I did.

hmmm. great app, starting to download now. thanks
Not sure about this time tracking application. We had been using Replicon's time tracking product suite which is an easy to use cloud based solution. It has a simple to use calendar view interface, great features for usability and unparalleled back up support too. NO issues till date, had been quite efficient and productive tool.

Nice app... but
I just downloaded your free version to see how it worked before purchasing and have a question.
In your description it says you can send links by email but there is no option through the phone app to send links at all. The only place I seen that offers any type of links to send is on the website. I think this option should be offered through the phone app.
Is this something you plan on adding?

Coming from Android with a few questions...

I just ordered a HTC 8x (keeping my 32gb SIII for now) from Verizon and had a few questions. I have not used a Windows phone since my HTC TP2 - which I loved until the HTC Incredible came out. Is there an app that allows WiFi tethering - like FoxFi? I don't use it all that much but when I travel it is nice. I am grandfathered in to unlimited so the tiered plans are not an option. I also use mass txt messages several times (13 team members) a week and I am currently using GoSMS to do it. I am hoping there is a similar app that allows mass txting on Windows Phone OS - stock would be great. Does the wireless charging system use more power than the traditional hard wired cables?
Looking forward to WM8 & thanks all for any help!
Currently
On WP8 only way to tether (I could be wrong) is to pay carrier extra fee. I am waiting on another option as well, and as far as mass text you can do that in the groups setting I send out text to 16 people at a time for basketball games and such. And the room feature seems to be nice but I haven't used it yet. There is also http://xyo.net/lumia/ which will tell you what apps are somewhat equivalent.
WP8 -- in settings has an option for internet sharing (no app needed) that provides up to 5 other devices (at least on my 920 with AT&T). I assume that this is a general option in WP8 ...
I have the shared data plan that allows tethering, so I am not sure if networks need to have it allowed in order to use it ...
But, the option is there without the need of an app ...

wi-fi tethering is a built-in feature in WP8 (since WP7.5) - it's called "internet sharing". i have no problem with at&t, using my nokia 920 as a wi-fi AP for my notebook and my ms surface rt. i can even go remotely to my work computer through VPN.
you can create a group, adding anybody from your contacts. after that you can send email or text sms to all the contacts from this group - just by one click.
and yes, you don't need any additional applications for these features.

i've been a t-mobile customer, and now i'm an at&t client. i didn't pay anything additional for using my phone as a modem (through bluetooth or wi-fi, whatever) and i'm not paying now. the only payment you should be aware of - for the data, you use. i subscribed to a data shared mobile plan in at&t - $90/mo for 6Gb shared data (plus unlimited voice and text) for up to 10 (i believe) lines (i use 4) plus $35/mo per device. i pay $225/mo for 3 smartphones and 1 simple phone. we've never overlimited our 6Gb plan. though if you do, it costs $15/1Gb.
the room is a cool feature, but it works only for WP-phones. but as i said you can group your contacts to be able to email or text all of them by one click.
I think on Verizon unless I am on the Share all plan I am not allowed to use the wifi/bluetooth tethering. At least without an app like FoxFi. Speaking of contacts... how are they managed on WP8? I will go out on a limb and say iCloud is definitely out and probably so is Gmail... hope its that easy.

The 6Gb data share plan (for families, or 5Gb for individual) is needed to enable tethering with AT&T ...

While the SIII is a great device it is NOT the end all of phones. There are still plenty of force closes and lock ups on the device. I am just wanting to try something different and I have been looking forward to WM8 for a long time. Here's hoping.
^ you might want to read the WPcentral forums, and the iPhone forums, as they do the same lock ups and force closes.

the only way to avoid lockups is turning off these phones.
I don't think I've had a lock up or app crash on Windows Phone. They were all too common on iOS though.
But can we leave all the playground arguments over best platform to some other forum? they're only phones at the end of the day.

You're the first person in this thread to mention best platform, no one is arguing.
Crashes are present in Windows Phone as well, but are less obvious as the system simply closes down the app without saying a word.
In most cases, crashes are due to the poorly written app and not the system.
Although I have a killer wifi and university that restarts my phone lol.

After reading several of your posts, I still can't figure out if you are a WP8 supporter or not.
Either way, I have been on Android for my entire cell phone career for several years and most recently had the GS3. I can't even tell you how many force closes I have had from apps, lag and slowdown because of horrible resource management of the OS, dalvik cache slowdown, etc. I rooted all of my devices and was heavily into the technical side of things.
I never had an iPhone but have played with many. Never was my cup of tea, but I won't talk bad about it since I simply don't know enough.
I finally grew tired of it all and purchased a HTC 8X last week. I can tell you that WP8 OS is such a breath of fresh air coming from Android. There is absolutely no lag or slowdown whatsoever....ever. I can pop in and out of apps, do whatever I want and it constantly stays smooth. No ram dumps or reboots required. I also have not had a single force closed app or random reboot like some people have reported. It has been an absolute flawless experience so far.
Just thought I would post some positive energy after a lot of negative. Is WP8 a lot more simple than Android? Yes. Is it a bad thing? No. It's such a seamless and smooth experience that I'm not sure I can' go back to Android at this point. At least not for a while. YMMV.
You quote me why? Who was negative? Just stated a fact, dont be so defensive.

I'm not being defensive at all. Just stating my opinion based on your quote. The other reason why I quoted you is that I've seen you all throughout this WP8 forum sort of talking down on WP8. Just curious as to why and which side you are on. Not saying you have to pick a side or you can't talk down on WP8, but just curious.
What have I said down? That it lock ups? Is that a lie? App crashes? Is that a lie?How about random reboots? I could go and mention a host of other things but there is no point.
So don't quote me with baseless rhetoric.

That makes a lot of sense. I opened the NFL Mobile app last night for the first time, then it tried to verify something that I didn't want to wait for so I closed the app and then disabled it. Thank you very much, I was kinda freaked out that my phone had some kind of malware that was sending encrypted info without my knowledge. I guess it was just crappy bloat-ware instead.

Hangouts shows sms messages that are supposed to be hidden, it intercepts them as they go out, you are not charged extra for them, it goes as far as intercepting voicemail commands on my sprint version so I had to switch back to stock sms app until they fix it.
Confirming this. Very odd. The NFL app should have warned that it was sending a txt but it didn't. Bit scary...
Verizon / NFL Mobile
Yes, it is from Verizon verifying that you are eligible to watch free, live, NFL games that are broadcast in your region and all national prime time games using the NFL Mobile app. Today CBS changed our game from Houston @ Minnesota to Pittsburgh @ Miami so I tried to watch Houston @ Minnesota on my phone and it worked fine.
THANKS for your clear and timely response. I was about to hard reset my phone because I thought it had been compromised!
That freaked me out thanks for putting my mind at ease guys. That's certainly what did it. Super Bowl while in line for dinner. Any good suggestions for identifying applications or possibly root kits etc. And the connections these types of apps tend to use, I intend of contributing to the boards more again. I used to everyday for mobile hardware and Web app development generals. But Im curious if there are apps by which they execute tasks like in this manner which I know this particular one isn't but I don't know the best path for figuring that kind of detection and more advanced feedback results and whos signature database wont be easily corruptible, maybe something more productive and professional but real scan and firewall features would be nice however I think thats why some socks and vpns services exist. I use a couple things. I can't help thinking I'm an idiot for wanting to know what and who want what from my android Mac or Windows device. Instead I could be allowing perms access to apps advertising to stop it but make you vulnerable to the point of someone walking on in and helping themself. I want control over my life my tools and devices, but would settle for doing my best to avoid it from someone else. This is one of a couple weird events. Subtle (what I think are attempts to install $.... yet stood out tremendously at the time. Sorry for etiquette I'm conjuction with topic question a small add on to it and thoughts of others encountering nfl live, any info or comments welcome don't beat me too hard, it's been a working progressive thing for the last year I noticed all these horrible warning signs of the end of true privacy as we know it, since it resonated my interest has grown but maybe my interest has drawn attention like vpns and etc. Idk what to do at this point. Take me back to 1996 and a Circle K with a few dimes and a pay phone if I need you on the phone right now, bad wish for a developer. :]
