My batteri is all out after 5 hours.
I have baseband
1035.21_20110614
Kernel
2.6.32.9-dirty
Version
FRG83G
LGE
P990-V10c
Is there something that is not up to date? Display brightness is set to the lowest and GPS disabled. What should i do?
You could try updating your Baseband to 622 and download the 622 Ril. Maybe your drain get lower with this combination

I'm down to 46% after 21 hours.
You can try flashing the correct baseband for "Europe Open" - and using the corresponding RIL. This was a tremendous improvement on my phone. The phone seems to have better reception as well.
I was seeing very poor performance when running with the wrong version of the baseband (even though it had the same version number).
BTW: Have you tried disabling bluetooth? This seems to consume a lot of power even though it's not connected on my phone.
Hello,
I had appalling battery drain on 10c too. However, I downgraded my unit to 10b + 622 baseband and now my phone is holding for 4 days and 25% of battery is still remaining (some light psx/android gaming, wifi internet, calls, texting). No root or modification or killing processes whatsoever. Downgrade worked for me

I'm having the same problems as the OP and this post is the best hope I have gotten for months now for fixing my battery drain.
I don't understand all the versioning numbers, RIL and whatnot for basebands so if someone could point my to the correct baseband links I would _very_ grateful.
I'm currently running cm7 and my baseband is currently 1035.21_20110405 and I live in Sweden and 3 is my carrier (if it matters).
Thanks!
Edit: Updated to baseband 622, still no go.

Check that you're using the corresponding RIL. You can use this utility: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1176372.
had a similar problem with my previous O2X, had it exchanged because the battery kept saying it was overheating. Kept burning off a full charge in less than a day in sleep mode.
As i said, only solution was a new phone
Get juicedefender, mine runs for like two days
Also having battery draining issues. Removed my phone from the charger at 3AM this morning, was 100% charged. At 2PM, it was down to about 15% if I remember correctly. During that time, probably 1-2 hours was spent using the phone, including a phone call. Mostly angry birds and some chatting, using wifi, and bluetooth in my car.
My battery use stats show Cell standby used 31%, and Phone Idle used 26%. These figures sound high to me, but I'm not sure. Can anyone comment on if they are high/low?
I'm on baseband 0622 with RIL 0622 as per vorkkernel, with CM7 #84. I read some people claim that nightlies since #79 have been bad for battery life. Otherwise my baseband works fine, data works fine and my phone call worked fine. No idea how I sounded though.

When I check cell standby in battery usage, it says it has spent 50% of it's time without signal. I never had this issue up until recently after a new 2.2.1 rom that used the JL2 modem, and now it seems to not go away no matter what rom or modem I use, could it be modem specific but I'm carrying over data? It seems I am not the only one with this bug and going into airplane mode temporarily fixes it.

Odd, I also had that display with a few modems until I installed the JL2, then it dropped to 0%.
Since it was always 50%, never anything else but 50%, I assumed it was a display error. I know for a fact that my phone did not spend 50% of its time with no signal, so other than the display, I don't think this is a real problem.

it seems to be an issue with 2.2.1 (for me, at least). I never had an issue running HSUPA modems until switching over to the JPX/JPY based ROMs... after that I'd get the random "no service" issue and lots of battery drain (also the 50% without signal issue). I don't think this has much to do with the framework so much as the kernel (JPX Source based). as running an earlier kernel (JPM source based) with the newer modems doesn't seem to have these problems crop up.
2.2.1 kernel + 2.2 HSUPA modem (UGJL2, TLJL3, UGJK4) = random no service/bad battery life (for me, I know this isn't true for everyone for some reason)
2.2 kernel + 2.2 HSUPA modem = no issues
2.2 kernel + 2.1 HSUPA modem = bad battery drain
if you're having these issues and don't mind "reverting" to an earlier kernel to see if that helps, it could be worth a shot. I believe xcalibur's 2.2.4 should work just fine (if you're running JPX/JPY you need to modify vold.fstab to get your sd cards to mount properly)
hi all,
Ive recently upgraded to v10d (Europe Open, coming from v10b) and im experiencing some wacky probs with the battery. Yesterday noon i charged the phone to 100% and then unplugged it and left it for about 5h. I then checked on battery life which was still 100%(!). I rebooted the phone and after some heavy use (2-3h youtube, lots of surfing, new widgets installing/configuring) i had dropped the battery to a 60%. I then went to bed. This morning the phone was dead and when i put it on the charger i saw that the battery had dropped to zero causing the phone to shut down. So i plugged it in, and switched it on. Since day 1 i was surprised with how fast the phone was charging to 100%, so after about 45min i checked on its state and saw that it was still at only 6%. I checked again after half an hour or so and it was still at the same point, 6%. I rebooted the phone again and checked on the battery level b4 plugging it back in and i saw a reading of 76% (!). Now ive plugged it back in, and once more its stuck on 76%. In all cases, even though the charging battery icon is there, the phone doesnt seem to show any changes in the battery state. Has anyone experienced something like this? Any advice welcome
Peace
I've got the same problem. It started two days ago, I tried Battery calibration but nothing changes.
My rom is miui.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using Tapatalk
Not only i get crazy readings, but the battery drain is MASSIVE. The phone sucks more than 60% battery in less than 7h on idle.. I dont get it, i did everything using LG's update tool, chose Europe as a location (The phone was sent from expansys UK, but i live in Spain.. Expansys 'out of stock' solutions). At least i dont get any BSOD or lags.. But the phone is still uselless like this..
EDIT: Ignore the sig
Have you tried battery calibration? (market.android.com/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration) I think that's the problem, I did it again yesterday and I've got 20% of battery drain in 8 hours. Maybe too much (it has been in airplane mode 6 of those hours) but nothing unusual.
Sorry for my english, I'm from Spain too
I didnt try Battery Calibration because ive already done what the app does manually. I deleted battery stats from CWM, drained the battery, left it full charge without interruptions and the problem remains.. Im waiting for the phone to fully charge now, ill switch it on and post bb and ril readings because i remember that even though getril stated that BB and RIL are matching, it said something strange about a T-Mobile ROM or something.. Ill be back with more
OK, here's what i see from GetRil, it looks a bit strange. On 'about phone' (Android menu) I see that im on LG version v10d. But on GetRil i get:
RIL: 0405 (V10C, T-Mobile)
Baseband: 1035.21_20110405
Can anyone make something out of this?
Any help appreciated
EDIT: AGAIN Ignore Sig (Got to get this done at some point )
I tried battery calibration, but it didn't get better. Then I deleted battery stats but didn't work, so I tried battery calibration yesterday and (for now) it's OK. Maybe when I charge it again the problem will be back.
I've got bb 622 and ril 622 v10d vodafone and getril says everything it's OK
Edit: you should try another ril, V10C Spain for example.
What version do you have? v10D? Did you update the phone using LG update tool?
I use Miui (It's a rom based on cyanogen) and I flash a new one almost every week. Those roms are beta, so it's "normal" for me to have problems, but you shouldn't have them with a stock one...
yeah i guess so.. The thing is that im coming from a much simpler to use/flash smartphone (acer liquid) and im a bit mixed up now.. basebands, ril's etc. Maybe i should try to flash the last version for spain using the LG tool, and try again.
EDIT: Now im getting a 'Update not required' message from LG update tool. Probably because its trying to go from v10d (Europe) to v10c (Spain).. IM SO ANGRY!!
I would do that. The last bb is 725, it works well for some people, but not for me, I tried it but the battery drain was massive, so I get back to 622 and (until this problem) everything worked fine.
You'll get used to this, it's funnier
How do i update the baseband only?
EDIT: I found the baseband page on Modaco, where its got the smartflash tool/drivers and the BBs, but it says that it will fully wipe INCLUDING Int SDCard. I try to do a backup using CWM-based Recovery 4.0.1.5 for Internal & External SD Card from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098745 but even though i have an external SDcard in, it does the backup on the internal!
With smartflash (http://android.modaco.com/topic/335494-12-aug-smartflash-stock-baseband-release-103521-20110725/) but read everything very well. It'll delete all your data, so make backup. If you want help with that or something else (and you speak spanish) ask here: http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=217920 and I'll help you. I don't dare to do it in english, in case I don't exprese myself well enough
Ok man, thanx. I was wondering if it is ok to flash baseband 622 over v10d, or if it is totally irrelevant and i just dont know what im talking about..
I'm such a noob too (specially talking in english) but if you ask to the experts, you'll be fine, good luck

BB and rom are two separate stuffs. U can play around with any BB till u find one that suits u best.
Yeah I realised that.. Im on v10d and i just flashed BB 622 and preparing to flash Fr19.. Lets hope that all the battery craziness will go away..
PS All this just when i read that 'Gingerbread Is Out' post.. damn it..
Hello all,
I have confirmed the following issue on my Optimus 2x with stock 20L. Nothing else, nothing special.
When I leave the phone standby for several hours (eg. during the night), when I get back to it and turn on the screen, the network signal/3G indicators are white - meaning no internet connection.
After around 10 seconds, 3G reconnects itself.
While this is annoying, since you don't get any notifications from programs using the internet (WhatsApp, Facebook etc), it gets worse.
After 3G reconnects itself, the battery drains really fast: about 30 seconds for 1%. So in a few minutes your battery will be completely drained.
This even continues while rebooting.
For example: I come back to my phone and it has 46% left. Then I notice the 3G disconneced and reconnecting and then power starts dropping really fast. I reboot at 43% power left. After the reboot, there's only 18% left but the draining has stopped.
I at least had this happen twice in four days.
Is anyone else noticing this, or does any of the developers out here perhaps has a fix or a custom rom in which it is fixed?
I really like 20L for some new features, but I'm also experiencing issues with GPS and now also this... I'm really thinking of going back to 10D.
Thanks for any help or insights you can give me.

I also have huge battery drain, but in my case the main culprit is OnScreen Phone. Left my phone with 100% in the evening and in the morning, after exactly 8h, the battery was at 70%. Of that, 50% was used by OSP, and 25% each Idle and Cell standby. With the phone on wireless, froyo used at most 10% instead of the 30% used by GB now.
Yes you should remove all background running apps, especially the sh..y LG one Phone on Screen, but also checking for others, like media share programs and so on.
One time with my present ROM I had a storm in my battery with tremendous drain.. I had to do a fresh reinstall, and since then no problem.
Thanks for your replies, but this is different.
The battery only starts draining when 3G reconnects and you can literally see it happen.

Same happening here. I'm running on topogigi 2.0 SP3.
With Baseband 725 I'm having this issue. Now I'm on 622 will see tomorrow what happens
Edit: I'm noticing, that even if I have full signal with an "H" the phone starts switching from H to 3G and back when I turn the screen on
I think I can confirm that huge battery drain on GB is because of the radio. The reporting of huge consumption by OnScreen Phone or Gallery may be wrong.
I left last evening my phone fully charged on Flight Mode and after 8:30 it consumed a mere 1-2%. With Flight mode off GB uses like 30% and Froyo used 10%. So I suppose the radio is the main culprit. As you can see in my screenshots, the Gallery process is said to have used the most energy, but it wasn't even started. And some days ago OSP was in place of Gallery. In the third screenshot you can notice how the drain started when I turned off the Flight mode and browsed for 45 min or so.
Could it be that we're experiencing this huge radio drain because of the incorrect baseband? I suppose we all have the generic Euro Open/Italian v20L ROM, and maybe our networks need a correct baseband for our specific operator?

The first time i experienced the battery drain problem i had no rooted phone with official Gingerbread update from LG. That was last week. The Baseband was exactly the same as from Froyo 10D (725).
With Froyo I had no battery drain at all. So LG must have messed something up - that was my thought...
since then i rooted my phone and installed topogigis rom on fr, 4th nov. At the weekend i was in areas where the signal strength was very good (H in status bar).
On monday no battery drain on my place of work where signal is very bad (G in status bar).
Since tuesday battery drain is back. I get reconnects after reconnects when the signal is weak. Even when the signal is very good my phone jumps from H to 3G and back. What the hell is that?
You need to flash the GB baseband released with the rom, the 0725 basebands are not the same. Flash the 0725 baseband in the v20l thread of Hell_97 and try again. Without it there are many issues.
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
Maybe I was a little uncertain:
- Last Wednesday (2nd nov) I had an unrooted phone with froyo. In the morning I checked for an update with LG Software and boom I had Gingerbread.
- Until friday I had heavy battery drain (9h and battery was at 5%). I was so angry and thought f*** you LG-Guys I'm flahing topogigi's rom. I flashed the Baseband 725 from his thread. On Saturday to Monday evening no problems at all.
- On Tuesday my phone again had very bad signal an it was often active (in the Battery-Usage Menu were much of those blue bars.
- Yesterday I flashed 625 Baseband -> problem not solved
- today I flashed 502 (from LG U660 10S update). I will look how it works.
What I noticed on all Gingerbread roms is, that the phone often Disconnects an Reconnects. I think that's making the heavy battery-darin.
But I have no idea how to fix that...
edit1: Did you mean the Baseband of this thread?

edit2: what problems do appear with basebands different from 725 for GB?

If you have updated through LG update tool, your Baseband had been updated to last (=the one recommended for Hell ROM), and above all the one recommended by LG for your area...
I think you should put back this one...

I've read many threads about this issue, but couldn't find a solution for Optimus 2X because on our phone, the PDP Settings in the HiddenMenu aren't implemented yet, so we can't disable Fast Dormancy.
I've found a workaround when you're at home: you can change the WiFi policy to never sleep, so during the night, the phone will use WiFi only instead of 3G while it's sleeping. But still, this doesn't hep you at all when you have no WiFi available.
I called LG this morning and they sad I'm the first reporting this problem (huge 3G battery drain on newly released Gingerbread)
Has anybody found another solution?
Has anyone else had this problem? since upgrading to a 4.3 sense based rom (tried 3 different roms), my battery life has become horrible..i can barely get 2 hours of screen on time whereas i used to get 4+ on 4.2.2 roms.
i know alot of people have said that 4.3 improves battery, but it hasnt for me, its done the opposite.
also has anyone noticed strange heating up of the device? for example in asphalt 8 the device thats slightly hot and then cools down while playing. but in games like candy crush or zynga poker the device continuously gets hotter and hotter..
tips/fixes/stories anyone?
Mine has been really good. Like, 3-4 hours screen time good. When I'm on wifi (N only, G wifi drains a lot) my battery percent just flatlines on the graph until I pick up the phone again. Sounds like a rogue app since I don't have this issue. I run ARHD 20.1.

I'm running arhd 20.1 aswell. And I would LOVE to see that happen again, my battery drains around 10% overnight, and I'm a really late sleeper, so that means in 5 hours it's lost 10% on standby..and it's weird cause WiFi shuts off after about two hours,so I know that's not causing the problem.
App usage shows android system as the app using the most battery. When I check in the morning it shows android system and kernel to be the top two users.
Could it be a radio problem? I've seen a decrease in signal since ive upgraded to the 4A.17 radio from firmware 2.24.
I'm thinking about flashing the minsense Rom or even a ge rom and see if that helps the problem.
It doesn't seem to be a rogue app cause I actually have less apps then I did on 4.2.2, and none that are new..

I'm still running the current T-Mobile firmware, not 3.x. (I'm still S-ON with hboot 1.44) Thought that was worth noting.
Have you tried putting the phone on WCDMA/GSM auto instead? If your LTE signal is weak (or any kind of signal is weak in general) I see this phone's battery life usually take a nose dive. It has so far from my testing saved me a ton of battery to switch the phone manually into GSM only when I'm inside a building at work to get more bars, then switch back to LTE auto when I leave. Try leaving it on overnight on different radio settings, and with and without wifi. It could be a cell radio drain. And btw get GSAM battery monitor, the stock stats don't seem right to me. Android System being high in the HTC battery stats tells you nothing really from what I'm seeing so far.

the funny thing is i dont have data, since i get wifi wherever i am. i also think its a radio problem though, my gsm signal never seems to be full, and people constantly tell me on the phone that they cant hear me. so what im doing (right now) is flashing a ge rom, specifically sinless rom, then im going to flash the new ge radio, 4A.18, and see how that plays out, prolly going to flash a 4.3 kernel aswell so i can uc to 162mhz or whatever the value is.
i seriously believe its the radio+lack of kernel on 4.3 sense roms that are causing this problem for me. so once this is all done ill test it for the rest of the day and see how it goes. thanks so much for your help

If you don't use any apps, of course system uses the most.
You need to check for wakelocks. If you have unexpected battery drain, it's likely that the phone is not sleeping properly, i.e., being kept awake. Betterbatterystats, gsam, wakelock detector etc.
What was the change in signal attenuation, or are you just saying the the display bars are different?

It has so far from my testing saved me a ton of battery to switch the phone manually into GSM only when I'm inside a building at work to get more bars, then switch back to LTE auto when I leave. Try leaving it on overnight on different radio settings, and with and without wifi. It could be a cell radio drain. And btw get GSAM battery monitor, the stock stats don't seem right to me. Android System being high in the HTC battery stats tells you nothing really from what I'm seeing so far.

If you don't use any apps, of course system uses the most.
You need to check for wakelocks. If you have unexpected battery drain, it's likely that the phone is not sleeping properly, i.e., being kept awake. Betterbatterystats, gsam, wakelock detector etc.
What was the change in signal attenuation, or are you just saying the the display bars are different?

i use apps, just nothing new compared to when i was on 4.2.2.
and no wakelocks according to gsam, i lost 20% overnight (7 hours)
i dont get what it is. i upgraded the radio to 4.19 now, but for the signal issues, it included lower bars, bad audio in calls, and random loss of wifi.
i removed basically every app, besides some essentials like facebook, whatsapp, and a few others.
i tried switching to an ge rom, but i just cant stay on it for too long, vanilla android is so plain compared to sense.
so the last thing i can think of, is a rom known for its battery life. not asking for a comparison, just your opinion in which rom gives the best battery on 4.3. any suggestions?

Charge your phone up all the way, put it in airplane mode, and unplug it for an hour then don't touch it. Then post your battery percentage. If it isn't still 100 or 99 then you have a more severe problem that actually relates to the battery itself.

been an hour and 5 minutes, still 100%.
so im guessing it has something to do with the radio?

Show us a graph of your signal strength from GSAM, and show us a screenshot with how many bars you have. At least you know now that the battery is definitely not shot. It is probably mobile data related...hmm did you ever try letting the phone sit with mobile data disabled as well? It should drain almost as minimally as airplane mode.

So wait, your signal is really good but your phone drains like crazy, and while you're on WiFi? Okay, what wifi router are you using and is it G or N and is it dual band?

its absurd i know..its already down to 93% with 9 minutes screen on..
and its a dual band router, im normally connected to the 2.4ghz band, and its with wireless ac, which the one supports. Which is weird cause i thought ac improved battery life..
edit: im an idiot, wireless ac only works on 5ghz bands, but that still doesnt explain the drain on wireless n..as my previous router was also wireless n

Have you tried 5 ghz N by forcing the router or your phone to operate only at N speed? I use a TP-Link dual band N router and I remember seeing s drain of about 4 percent overnight for 8 hours of full idle with full sync.
I have tried with both 2.4ghz n and 5.2ghz ac, same problem persists
Awake is 3x screen on, I don't think that's normal, somethings keeping the phone awake much longer
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app

so ive done a bunch of other tests, and i can confirm its wifi thats causing this massive drain, not wakelocks, not roms, or anything else.
when the phone is left with wifi on, but not being connected to any network, battery drain is minimal overnight.
its the same on both 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands, so it this a router problem? if so, do you know any tips that could fix it?
Do you have "Best wifi performance" checked? That seems to eat battery.

i have no option for best wifi performance, just "wifi optimization". i found the problem, it has something to do with my new router and its bad compatibility with android devices. the phone seems to be awake 2x the screen on time and the main culprit is "wlan_rx_wake" wakelock
Hello!
I know that there were a lot said about battery problems in 4.1.2 android, but i still haven't found any solution on my problem. My Note was bought with GB 2.3.6 and had an awesome battery, but after i updated it to JB 4.1.2 (via Kies), suddenly battery life is catastrophic. I have everything off (bluetooth, wi-fi, gps), my screen brightness is on minimum, i use my phone on GSM band (not 4g), i also disabled some of unused apps, etc...everything said was also my practice on previous version 2.3.6 and phone battery lasts up to 4 days, but now, it drains off in 17hrs and I barely use my phone!
If I check battery stats, it shows that screen is the major consumer of battery and it seems like it is on all the time, although the phone screen is physically off most of the time. It means something causing my phone being awake all the time instead of being off.
Any ideas how to fix this??

4 days? really? think that is unheard of. Either how, it should last longer than 17 hours.
Try going back to factory settings, perhaps theres something running thats divided by zero :silly: .
If you feel adventurous you can also choose to root & try a custom rom. Though thats your responsibility and choice entirely.

Yup 4 days, not kiddin...4 days of average use.
I forgot to mention that i already did the factory reset and i also wipe the cache partition in recovery menu... I disabled practically everything, and i use things when i need, nothing is set on auto, sync or anything. Last night I didn't touch the phone for about 9 hrs and battery consumption was around 1% which is ok, but it's draining everytime i turn on the screen like 5% in 10mins. BBS shows that well known GTALK_ASYNC_CONN as a battery eater. Is it possible to kill this annoying thing on un-rooted phone???
