Phone save corrupted pics - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi to all,
I have N1 with cyanogen nightly...
all goes fine...really untill today...
When I take a pic, it is saved like usually in the sd card and I can see it in the gallery app... I can see it also in the file manager...
all perfect...
But when I plug the usb cable and mount the sd card as mass storage, the last pic (and I mean just the last pic of today not the old pics I've taken) desappeared and all I find in the DCIM/Camera folder is a jpg file of 0bytes with the today date but wrong clock...
the pic is of course corrupted...
When I unplug the usb, the last pics disappeared...
Anyone have had this problem...please I don't want to restore anything untill the stable release of cyanogen is out...
thanks
Oh I've tryed to delete .thumbnail folder but nothing happend

Hi,
I had similar problem a couple of months ago.
resolved by backuping sdcard then reformatting, and reflashing rom.
Did you tried to copy that photos in an other folder in sdcard with file manager, as you can see it in Gallery and File manager on phone, then mount to computer and look in the folder where pasted ?

Displays but will not open files on storage card

NOTE: I FIXED MY PROBLEM MYSELF. I kept the thread in case anyone else has this problem, you might know the fix....explained under the quote (quote = original post)
Out of nowhere my kaiser errors now on startup (with startup apps or if I manually try to open them from programs folder) saying it cannot open any of the programs located on the memory card (says "either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found"). My ringtones on the card won't play and the error states they may be corrupt or unavailable.
So basically, all of the files are there...the phone "lists" them in file explorer....it just wont open anything (including when I click on files in file explorer....it doesnt do anything...just highlights them). It will open programs and files off the device's main storage just fine.
I have removed the card and placed it in a reader, and the card is just fine....all files open perfectly.
Has anyone else had this problem? I have never damaged the phone or got it wet or anything.
It made me late to work because the alarm (appointment in calender) didn't go off (error'd on playing the tone). I really need to get this fix.
Thanks a million in advance!

What had happened is that I have inbox tmp files or something pointed to save on the memory card....but at some point yesterday the memory card was ejected slightly in the port (so the phone counldnt save to it) and I must have received a message or something because it saved to that directory. Since the card was not there, it created a folder named "Storage Card"...thus when I found my card ejected, and clicked it back in yesterday, it named the card Storage Card 2....since a directory already had the orig name. Thus....since all programs and ringtones and such look at "Storage Card" .....all heck broke loose. I deleted the folder and re-inserted the card and did a soft restart...and everything was back to normal.
Thank you for your post.. I jsut had the EXACT same problem... and deleting "Storage card" folder and soft reset fixed mine as well.. whew...!1! Thansk for saving my tail!

Odd gallery problem

Hi hope this is posted in the right area... But anyway for some reason whenever I connect my galaxy s to the pc with the mass storage option, once disconnected I end up with 3,4 or even 5 copys of each image on my sd card and internal storage... I'm running JPM at the moment.
I am getting this problem as well, and it only affects file on the external SD, and only picture files when inside the gallery.
Not sure why sometimes if I connect the phone to the pc or move the pictures into another folder it fixes the problem but it comes back everytime I connect back to the pc... I don't remember it happening in the old firmwares...
Do u unmount ur phone the propper way or do u just unplug it? Cause im on jpm and i always use unmount and i never had this problem

i had this problem before...
delete the folder.. DCIM\.thumbnails in internal/(external) sd
see how that goes
should work =)
cheers
I normally do it the unmount way, once done with using usb just to make sure. I deleted the thumbnails but if I use usb again it just recreates the thumbnails and I get even more pictures in the gallery... :/ Its a bit hit and miss. Thanks anyway
Same problem here... i've already tried everything. Now i have 4 repeated thumbs!! JIZZ
I'm using JPA firmware.

[Q] Deleted sd folder!

I have a Samsung Captivate and I accidentally deleted the sd (at least that is what i think it was called) folder. How do I get it back? If I just create a new folder that says 'sd' will it still save things onto my internal sd card?
my /sd/ folder is empty at least looking at it from the OI file manager on the phone
I think mine was as well but I want to put music on my phone and i want it to go on the internal sd. I tried seeing if the files would go directly on the sd so i put a few music files in a folder i created but when i checked my task manager the internal memory storage changed, not the internal sd storage.

It depends what OS you are running.
2.1 used /sdcard for internal and /sdcard/sd for external
2.2 moved these directories under /mnt but left the old directories empty

Does anybody know what to do if the sd folder is deleted?
I noticed I had an 'sd' folder and an 'external_sd' folder. The sd folder was blank, so I deleted it after I viewed it on my pc - there was nothing in it. It didn't seem to be needed. But now I can't view certain files on my phone only. I can view them on my laptop via USB connection using Windows Explorer.
To attempt to find this folder on my phone, that I CAN see on my laptop using Windows Explorer, I created a txt file in that folder (that I can't find on my phone), naming it 'sdmissing.txt'. I searched everywhere on my phone, even from root directory, trying to find this file and couldn't. Yet after connecting to my laptop via USB, I can see it. What can I do??
Thanks in advance for any help!

backup important data and apps with tibu or any other apps in the market and perform factory reset with your phone it should bring you back to where you are.

Turn off and on ur phone to see if it works for you or not. I found that sd is a hidden folder and its blank. When I flash custom roms, I do it without going to stock. But, I do delete Android, data, sd and some other folders, that I know will be automatically created after the reboot/flash. When I go to cwm recovery to install rom from zip, I do see the Android folder and sd folder showing up there. Don't panic. Just do normal shutdown and restart. If that doesn't fix, reflash the custom rom if you are using one.

[Q] Data loss from internal storage and sd card

Hi guys
I plugged my note into my pc using usb cable to transfer games I had downloaded. After unplugging I discovered that all video files and all picture files have disappeared from both the internal sd and my sd card. This is really confusing. I've no idea how this has happened and what I can do to restore it all. This is really upsetting as we had a new baby recently and all my photos of her and my other kids have disappeared. :crying:
Any advice will be gratefully received.
Many thanks in advance.

Just reboot your device and check again
Hi
Tried reboot. Still nothing. File manager shows folders as being there, but contents are missing.

If they are really deleted try something like "DiskDigger" and check if it finds your pictures.
I used it on the JB leak which doesn't show all files and folders when connected to the PC. I didn't think of this and deleted an "old and empty" folder. I lost about 200 pictures of my baby.
With this tool I got back all of them.
That sounds fantastic, I'll give it a go. Many thanks!

[Q]Internal storage 75% full

Hi,
I am using latest JB FW, Timin8r rom. I was on stock kernel.
Last night i rebooted my phone and got the grey triangle. I left the phone over night and it was OK in the morning.
However, I got a message that internal storage was 75% full and a popup appeared asking me to transfer data to my ext card. However, all options said 1 file and 0% and the transfer button was greyed out so i pressed cancel
An hour ago I flashed the new stock kernel with recovery and thats when i noticed that my file structure had changed, Inow have
ext-card
sdcard
sdcard1
(Sdcard 1 is actually the ext-card)
However, from the sdcard (Internal storage) I have lost all the folders from Android to Notifications (Listed in alphabetical order). What is left is only a few MB but storage on the phone reports that there is 10Gb still in use. So I think the data is still there just not visible in root explorer or on the PC when I mount phone.
I am going to leave the phone alone whilst I am at work as it may need to settle, but has anyone else got any ideas?
Hay man, I have a similar issue, though not as bad, I rebooted and got the gray triangle, I waited and shows low storage. Curious why, I looked in explorer it showed the same storage folders you have.
Sdcard
Sdcard1
Ext-sdcard
Though the only problem is sdcard and ext-sdcard both show the contents of what my ext-sdcard actually shows which is strange. Seems to have duplicated itself in another folder...
I might try and delete one and see what happens.
As for your problem, you could try and flash a stock ICS to reset the file structure?
Sent from my LT30p using xda premium
The ext-card has not been dupicated its just two seperate paths to get to the same place.
My main concern is the missing folders in the sdcard (Internal) They still appear to be there as there is a discrepency of 10 gb between what is reported to being used and what I can actuall see.
These include my recovery backups and lots of photos so I dont want to format yet.
I have a copy of some backups on my pc at home so when i get home I can restore and check.
Same issue
