Uninstall the apps that come with the Droid?

Hello, I'm running Froyo (rooted), and I'm wondering how I would go about removing the applications like Twitter and Amazon MP3 Store and such, does anyone know?

yes, it is possible, I'd suggest using Root explorer, but you can also do it on adb
all applications are in /system/app dir
twitter is called:
com.twitter.android.apk
as for the mp3 store... i have no idea
List of applications that can be removed safely(thou i suggest you make a backup):
VideoPlayerMoto.apk -> Moto's Video Player
VisualizationWallpapers.apk -> ...
VpnService.apk -> Don't remove if you want to use VPN
VSuiteApp.apk -> Language selector
WorldClockWidget.apk -> Moto Clock WIdget
Youtube.apk -> Should i really state the obvious?
TtsService.apk -> Text to Speech
SoundRecorder.apk -> ...
Street.apk -> Streetview
Stk.apk -> SimCard tool
Talk.apk -> googleTalk
QuickOffice.apk -> Quick office, memory hog if you ask me...
PersonalPortal.apk -> Motorola Phone Portal
Music.apk -> You can replace it with the 2.1/2.2 Music apk, since moto uses the 2.0 music app ATM
MotoCal.apk -> Motorola Calendar
MotoCarDock.apk -> Moto Cardock app
MotoGal.apk -> Motorola Firmdir
Motonav.apk -> if you choose to delete it, then you can also remove com.navngo.igo.javaclient in data/data
MotAccuWeatherWidget.apk -> Moto Weather Widget
MediaGallery.apk -> Motorola Gallery App
LatinIME.apk -> Default keyboard app, can be removed if you use another keyboard, e.g. HTC IME
LatinImeTutorial.apk -> Tut for the default keyboard
Launcher.apk -> You can directly replace it with LauncherPro.apk or what ever launcher you use : )
LiveWallpapers.apk -> Live wallpapers
LiveWallpapersPicker.apk -> Ditto
MagicSmokeWallpapers.apk -> "MagicSmoke" Wallpaper
Maps.apk -> GoogleMaps
GreekIME.apk -> Greek keyboard
GoogleSearch.apk -> Google Search
Email.apk -> Default email app
EnhancedGoogleSearchProvider.apk-> ...
Facebook.apk -> Default facebook app
FOTA.apk -> for OTA updates...
GenieWidget.apk ->
Gestures.apk ->
GlobalSearch.apk ->
Gmail.apk -> GoogleMail
GmailProvider.apk -> belongs to GoogleMail
Dock.apk -> Docking station app, if you use n1 clock, then you don't need it : )
Browser.apk -> Default browser, if you use another one as default, then you can remove it
Calculator.apk -> Default calculator, i prefer arity, so...
AudioEffect.apk -> Audio effects app
AlarmClock.apk -> Default Motorola Alarm Clock, If you use another one, (eg N1) you can remove it

I now have 110mb free on my Milestone's /data dir

Its quite easy to do on some roms depending on which are using. Some devs include easy to run scripts which remove non market apps

So wait, do I just delete the files? (I'm not gonna use Root explorer since that costs money, which I don't feel like spending)

Do you have the Android SDK setup? You can use ADB Shell;
Code:
adb shell
su
cd /system/app
rm TheFileYouWantToRemove.apk
adb reboot
You can also do the same with Terminal Emulator - free in the market - which runs on your device (obviously..) instead of requiring the SDK for ADB Shell.

C:\Users\*******\Documents\android-sdk_r06-windows\android-sdk-windows\too

# su
su
# cd /system/app
cd /system/app
# rm com.twitter.android.apk
rm com.twitter.android.apk

I keep getting that when I try to remove twitter
EDIT: Nevermind, I used adb remount and tried the commands again and it worked. Thank you ^^

I tried the adb remount and it says remount failed: Operation not permitted
... I'd like to think myself fairly experienced with android and adb now, but this has me stumped...

Try "adb root" first to have any commands passed by adb executed as superuser.

Gmail APK

Hey im trying to change the notification for the gmail app but i cant find the .apk. Anybody know where it is and what it is called. i was messing around with the googleemail.apk but that seems to be the email app not the gmail app. am i just missing something or is it somewhere else. im on the droid 1 with froyo 2.2

Looked for it but it isnt there it goes emailgoog.apk, gallery3dgoogle.apk to google backuotransport.apk

[Q] Miui can't find my music.

Hello,
On my sd card, I have all my mp3's in a folder named Music. I go on the application Music, when I scan it found nothing. Then I click Settings -> Filter By Folder.. and it doesn't give me any folder.
I tried reboot and also Settings -> Programs -> Manage Applications -> Music -> Clear data. Still nothing.
Any ideas?

is it possible to replace some system apps on a samsung s3 lte rom with google stock apps?
apps which i would replace:
- email
- gmail
- calendar
- contacts
- sms/mms
- phone
i can remember some times ago, there was a theard for a normal s3 without lte to replace that apps, but i cant find it again. in the past it was not possible to replace contacts and phone app, maybe now it is, but i would be very happy to replace the e-mail, calendar and sms/mms app again. so if this is possible, could someone from you guys provide the neccessary apk files?

hi there,
for all who maybe have the same needs like me, here is a theard(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1728308) where you can chose a lot of stock google apps with a guide how to do that..
for me, i try it with messaging and e-mail app:
1. download the apps from the theard
2. rename the apps in secmms.apk, secemail.apd and secexchange.apk and copy it to your phone
3. go to you app manager and look for your email and exchange service app, delete the cache, delete the data and stop the apps
4. save the original apps .apk and .odex files in system/app and delete it after
5. copy the downloaded and renamed apps in system/app
6. be sure that the permissions are right
7. reboot and its done

update: google calendar
1. disable splaner app and splaner widget in the app manager
2. install the original google calendar from the Play store
3. youre done --> it does not matter if you are rooted or not..

Hi, I've a idea of a ROM in mind but I lack the knowledge to do it.
How hard is to do this:
Starting with a good stock ROM (unbranded and with multi-CSC). I'm thinking on XWKTN.
-Root with SuperSU
-Remove some bloat (Samsung app store, Swype, Gapps, Quickoffice)
-Replace:
3D gallery -> QuickPic
Musicplayer -> Google Play Music
Android Market -> Play Store
Stock Internet -> Dolphin Mini
Calc -> RealCalc
Stock Memo -> Colornote
Stock File Explorer -> Speed Software Explorer
-Add busybox files, AdWay hosts and Lind2SD.
-A kernel with governors/IO (default: SmartAssV2/SIO) + Nofrils CPU Control
-Support for init.d and EXT4
-tweaked build.prop
-Adrenaline Engine
-Allow restart, reboot etc, when lock button off is pressed
-Make this CWM flashable
How hard can it be? Someone can leave me tips and point directions?

well i dont know about this but y dont u contact someone like A_U or dheeraj etc etc?

the easiest way to do this is by flashing that unbranded rom to your mobile and then
doing all these changes and after that copy the /system folder of your mobile and make a flashable zip
use the stock boot.img. which can be found in firmware you will use as a base
