I have rooted my Black and installed ClockWorkMod according to
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098083
but when i installed Rom Manager, and try to back up, they asked me to do ClockWorkMod Recovery and obviously there is no LG Optimus Black option.
There is post about installing LP Sense 3.0 on LG 2x
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1091727
but i cannot boot into ClockWorkMod Recovery.
im a novice and dun know much about how to install rom, just know how to root and do some easy tricks.
Any help? Thanks?
Cwm recovery for black. But don't use rom manager to reboot to recovery, use "anreboot".

Yeah I think it's possible.

yes i guess you'll brick your phone if you flash non black rom. because the rom is built based on LG P990 rom.

99% sure it won't work. It is not a ROM, it's a theme involving a lot of packages and modified files. You can try, but it will probably brick, at least, the ROM.
I can't tell if you will be able to recover the phone or not. Probably yes, because it doesn't touch internal parts like drivers (it's a theme, not a ROM), so it will just make the ROM not working/booting, but the phone working.
Your choice
i thing it will possible,...
i will stay for this

i try to install themes to my phone and when install finished when it boots and patern screen appears it shows me a message like sorry we can't load fonts, clock, and other stuff and i don't have any way to see desktop...i must turn off the phone and turn on in the recovery mode and restore it...what its going wrong???
It would be more clear if you mention which firmware you are running, which theme you are trying to flash etc
agree with mjuksel. Most likely an incompatible theme.

Is there a way I can update my lg phone using an android tablet? I am thinking about trading my laptop for a tablet because its much nicer for on the go business. Basicly go windowsless.
Thank you.
Hello!
AFAIK - no, since the LG Updater is an Windows program...
You could use other methods to update you phone though - i.e. through rebuild ROM which are flashable through CWM like this for instance...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327949
...or you use CM7-KANGS or custom roms like i.e. Guestes.

Thank you. I am scared to go that way because of the possibility to brick the thing. I'll look for other ways.
Hello!
I thinks it is the opposite - it is rather hard to really brick your device using cwm.
When it fails you flash back a backup or another rom. Works for me on an almost daily basis since I update to every new KANG from temasek...
ok. How about flashing to Gingerbread Hong Kong? Would that be easily been via CMW?
I am not looking to flash customized things to my phone, I just want to have stock.
Hello!
The Problem is you need a CWM flashable file - you will usually find pre-rooted or custom roms, but it could be a liitle hard to find a a pure stock rom prepared that way...
To sum it up:
If you want the direct update line to LG you need a Windows up and running at some point.
If you use custom roms there is not need to...
Hello Guys!
I just bought a droid 3 unlocked, are in Italy.
I have noticed that I have a software version .906 (The last I think), following some guides I installed Rom manager and flashed the recovery from them.
Now I wanted to ask, I can put that rom without incurring risks and fully functional?
And what is the procedure?
Thank you so much guys!
You'll want to install Safestrap 3 from Hashcode which is the latest recovery for the Droid 3 and allows you to install ROMs that use a custom kernel with kexec. Look in the development section for the thread.

moto phones are pretty safe to root and rom, just be prepared to flash a .sbf to recover
but safestrap, makes flashing roms and restoring stock, too easy
cm10 has several things that just don't work, cm9 is better
steel droid ics 5.4 is good or steel droid GB 4.5
with safestrap 3 you flash 4 roms plus stock, and go back and forth just with a reboot
you need to remove rom managers cwm first
edit:
several how to videos here
How to Video's Root, safe strap, kexec, and much more
really thanks.
1) cm9 has not working cam, true?
2)How can i remove the rom manager and the recovery that rom manager have installed?
3)I just have to wipe everything and flash the zip, for every rom?
4) What about minimoto?
5)There is CM7?
Thanks..!
6) My droid is unlocked from when i have It. If i chance rom It Will lock again?

I'll try my best to help you out here but..
1.) The stock based builds of cm9 had a working camera for pictures only, but those builds are gone and no longer compatible with safestrap 3, otherwise development is focused on kexec.
2.) You should be able to uninstall it from rom manager itself I believe
3.) Sometimes, only for something really major like new codec or something, sometimes but its not always necessary and your stock system will be fully protected.
4.) I don't know what that is, lol i'm new here.
5. There is CM7 but it was never worked on nor finished so don't bother with it really.
6.) I really don't know but I highly doubt it.
Otherwise i'm glad to help you out.

now i cannot root the device anymore. its now running stock 2.3.4 but i want to go back to original lg software to start all over again.
as there isnt going to be an official update any time soon, which would have solved my problem, i now need help.

yes, it says "successfully rooted", but when i open autokiller memory optimizer, he tells me, the device is not rooted at all.
=/
is there any way to fully restore the device..
load some official os version and start from scratch?
my goal is to load the ics version, now that the source code is published..
and i dont know how to get there.
Use nvflash. Even you can install custom stoxrom with it

Hi, I am completely new to the modding community. That's why I have big problems to solve this issue on my own:
I gave my old LG Optimus 4x HD to a friend. He wanted to load the latest stable Cyanogen mod to the device.
That didn't work to well, he said he rooted it and put the recommended Clockwork Rom on the phone.
Now only the LG Boot Logo appears.
I don't know where to start.
Look for a new rom, try that??
I tried a factory reset, the problem remains the same
I'd much appreciate your help!

Have you tried searching XDA or even Google?
I'm guessing you didn't think of unlocking the bootloader prior to flashing a custom recovery?
