In other device forums there's generally a list of branded ROMs, but I can't find one for the Galaxy Tab. Can someone point my eyes in the right direction please?
Thanks
Just to be clear, I'm specifically looking for Orange UK.
You have a tab? There goes the neighbourhood....
Have you tried samfirmware.com our whatever it is..

Hello mate. I've actually been here a while - just keeping quiet
I've had a look on Samfirmware and it's got all the stock firmware you could wish for, but I can't find the branded ones. There is a section titled "Provider Firmwares", which suggests branded to me, but it doesn't mention any providers, either by region or name so it's no use to me.
Your best bet is to ask a member with a stock Orange tab for a rom dump. There are threads that give instructions for creating the rom dump, for example, the Rotohammer back up steps. Then you flash the stock rom with odin3.
Do you need the entire rom, or are you looking for specific Orange apps?

I do need the entire ROM, rather than just apps, as I'm looking to flash it back to exactly as it was when I got it. I'm gonna give up soon, but thanks for the suggestion about asking someone for a ROM dump. I think I'll leave it for now, but may start begging for it soon

Hi guys,
I've just gone through a guide on how to unlock my phone, so awesome, Step 1 is done!
Now, with having currently an Orange (UK) based stock rom, I'm looking to get rid of it, and needing to know before I flash this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=519715
What is a Stock Rom?
I'm sorry for the stupid question, and I did search quickly, but nobody has asked this, and all the queries come up are people talking about stock roms.
Thank you,
It's not a stupid question, a Stock ROM is a ROM that is provided by your telecom company or the manufacturer of your phone (Like HTC), so that means a standard ROM without any of the wonderful hacks and additions the guys on this site came up with .
So when you buy a brand new phone the ROM that is on there would be a stock ROM.
Wow, thanks Mad.
Now the problem I have now, is it says "flash stock rom before flashing this", so what should I flash it to first?
I like the look of that rom above you see, and just not sure what to flash it to first.
If you bought your phone from your provider and not
second hand, it will have the stock rom on it, so you would be good to go. Make sure you read the flashing guide, and check radio compatibility with the rom you would like to use.
My preference is to flash with the sd card, rather than a RUU from the desktop. I've had much more success that way.
Good luck and happy flashing!
Criss
Thanks Criss,
How would I backup my stock rom, and radio?
Because a few people who make the Rom's are abroad, I've no way of knowing if the radio's they've used are compatible with my network provider here in the UK.
Whats some things I should look out for?
Thank you,
the search area at the top right hand corner.. Then just type in "how to backup stock rom"
Thats what I would do.
rofl, thanks Chumley.
I've just been lazy and started flashing from my Stock ROM.
Balls to it, hopefully I won't ever need to go back, but nevermind. My mistake and downfall!
I would keep a copy of your providers shipped rom around

You'll need it in case you need to make a warranty claim. You can check with the support section of their website, or the Kaiser Wiki could point you in the right direction.
No warranty on the phone, its secondhand.
I'll have a look to see if there are stock roms available through Orange / HTC for it.
Thanks once again!
The rom loads and looks lovely, shame I cocked up the theme, but i'll sort that out later when I can be bothered!
Hi there if anyone could help me out im trying to locate the stock galaxy s telstra rom i done a back up of mine before i started playing around and some how managed to get a virus on my pc and lost everything including my backup i would really appreciate any support you all have to offer as for my wife wants the standard software back on her handset thanks for your time.
Stock telstra right?
The best place to find australian firmwares, telstra in particular, is whirlpool. XDA seems to ignore us
Go to the whirlpool thread "Stock I9000T Telstra Rom". There are links there from me as well as links to Doc Dan's hosted JH3. I would give a link but... my post count >.>
I highly recommend you use Doc Dan's files! I posted some, asked for feedback and never received it :/ Thats after 50+ downloads too
This is the stock 2.1. Havent seen DVJP8 yet. Coincidentally, does anyone know how to get/create these flashable ROM's? im sure people would like JP8 available for reflash instead of JH3, and samfirmwares doesn't have OUR JP8. Or OUR JH3 even. (samfirmwares.com: ignoring the telstra galaxy S even moreso than XDA developers )
Telstra is 2.2.1 now
Modem it comes with is DVJP9
Recommend it over 2.1 anyday
I recommend following my guide on how to upgrade to a custom rom
Stock is a waste of time

Network roms are only available if a user saves them and uploads them or at least shares .Most users do not bother so XDA never gets them .
Likewise unless the firmware is available from a user that has downloaded it Samfirmware cannot get a copy .
Both XDA and Samfirmware rely on you the user to supply the base roms they have no secret source of roms .

Thats fairly understandable
May i ask how this is done? all ive seen is system dumps, which i understand are useless for anything 'cept custom rom development
Either backing up rom through one of the apps available or saving a downloaded rom via Kies .Dont know if the spoof Kies method below still works .

Gday thanks for all your replys I have found a few links at whirlpool forum unfortunately there all no go anymore and I have tried the spoof method with no such luck either the reason I need the original telstra firmware is my touch screen is playing up and I was going to reload the original firmware and see if I can get it fixed under warranty as for its only about 4 months old I have tried other firmware and still have the same problem with the touch screen

Search for the thread "Stock I9000T Telstra Rom" on whirlpool. It should have posts that are both good. JH3 in zip folder is unpassworded, the .rar has asgardxda as the password as stated in the aussie firmwares thread (it is where i got a copy from). Also im pretty sure doc dans also works, there is a link at the bottom of that thread. I would LOVE to post direct links for you but my post count angers the xda
I certainly know mine (listed under "Orenthi", old screen name i would like to phase out / kill with fire) are still up and running. Over 50 downloads and not one bit of feedback XD. If it is bricking or failing to work i would love to know...
Anyways, i saved a kies downloaded ROM today, telstra JP8. Thanks JJEgan for the assistance in that . Seems right, slighly larger than telstra JH3, has all the files as seen in JH3 and no dbdata so like JH3 it isnt a full ROM (was expected). How would one make this odin flashable by the way? is it as simple as making it .tar.md5 and what application is recommended by xda for this?
edit: scratch that, have uploaded jp8. Tested it on my phone too!
Link can be found on whirlpool thread Samsung GT-I9000 series Aussie Firmwares, p10, 13th post hope it works for everyone else
Oh and apparently xda likes to know bootloader status. it takes the phone from 2e recovery to 3e recovery so ill go out on a limb and say does include bootloaders
Gday mate thanks for the firmware downloaded it this am and installed it straight up via Odin works like a charm 10/10 for your help and support

hi all
i've done a relatively thorough search in the time i've had this morning... I'm helping a friend with her new SGS.. before i screw her over i wanna find a clean GB rom that she can Odin in case something goes wrong.. I have 2 on my computer, but i cannot find one online?! I must be looking in the wrong places...
Anyways, please can someone direct me to a clean odin-flashable GB ROM that does NOT require the phone to be running any specific build before flashing?
Many thanks

I would suggest building one for her in the ROM Kitchen. I think a CWM flashable ROM would be a better safety net then having to go back into Odin.
You can get most (if not all?) of the official and 'leaked' firmware from samfirmware.com
But since they are the stock rom, they are bundled with crap like alkido etc.

thanks guys..
@Fallen.. i want to stay away from having to do adb stuff, since neither myself or the friend i am helping (over skype only) are familiar with adb.
@rschenck.. i'm familiar with RK, but have never flashed anything from them... can i just cook a random ROM on their website and flash it onto an SGS without fulfilling any requirements?
@chanw4.. samfirmware... could work - i'm in cape town, south africa... which region should i download?
thanks again peeps
I recently got a new Samsung Galaxy Tab (GT-P1000) in India and i took back to U.S. After intense researching i finally was able to root it. Now I found a whole new array of questions and problems.
Here they are:
1. I cant seem to overclock it even with SetPU
2. I have no idea what ROMs will work on my model.
3. I have no idea what ODIN is and where i can get it.
4.On ROM Manager when i try to download the clockwork recovery mod thing i dont see my model. I only see sprint, verizon, and t-mobile models.
5. How do i upgrade my model to gingerbread.
6. How do i use ROM Manager.
7. My tab seems to be slow do you guys have any solution to make i lightning speed.
I am sorry i have repeated previously answered questions but when i check the forums it is difficult to find answers and guides for my specific model.
I will update if i have anymore questions.

New Question: What is the best ROM for the Samsung Galaxy Tab[GSM] that is super fast, easy to use, easy to install, highly customizable(looks wise), and looks good.
If you guys can show me a list of the benefits and disavantages of each ROM then that would be great.
Challenge accepted!
1. You probably have the GSM model. Without a modded kernel, you probably won't be able to overclock it. Why do you want to do that anyway, at this point?
2. All ROMs that have [GSM] specified in the thread name, except maybe N/L ones.
3. Don't worry about Odin. ROM threads have how-to's. Start off by reading the Overcome threads. Read carefully the first few posts.
4. Don't worry about that.
5. Read the Overcome thread. Use the ROM, flash it, there you go.
6. You don't need to use it yet. After you read the Overcome documentation, you will understand.
7. Appreciate your device. Lightning fast for Samsung may not be the same thing to you. Overcome, MIUI, BOCA and CM7 are all very powerful ROMs. Check them out.
PS: Thanks for posting in the right forum!
Cheers,
C.

I have taken in every word and it has helped me take off a load of questions. I still have one question that might contradict your reply. I have read the the GSM ROM threads and gingerbread threads and they all say something about flashing it on your system with odin. I really confused, i am sorry if my newbieness is annoying but i just want to make my tab awesome ondemand.
The overcome thread has links to ODIN and their guide on how to upgrade to gingerbread (download it as its VERY useful when 1st starting). Before doing anything though find out what your stock rom is and see if you can find it, will be helpful if something goes wrong with the flash, also check what radio you have now (again good tohave a copy if you want to revert to stock for warranty). There's a heap of information (posted in overcomes thread again, Thank you overcome) that will tell you what radio (modem.bin) you will need. Overcomes thread will also supply the p1000_mr.pit file and the stock gingerbread rom that you need before flashing to a lot of other roms.
Happy flashing and remember, reading the steps, not skipping ahead and asking if you're not sure of something is always a good thing...
Cheers...

Go to the Galaxy Tab Dev Thread. The Overcome Kratos thread is always on the first page, because it's so popular.
Before you load any ROM, make sure you copy your existing ROM, and verify it, so that you can restore if needed. I believe Roto Backup does this.
I didn't back up my stock ROM and now I don't have a way to get back to Stock. But the Overcome Kratos ROM is good.

hi folks. time to let go of my Galaxy Note [1] T-mo so I need to return to stock.
I checked the below thread "Goodies" [thank you OP!] which was valuable to many of us but the links are old and invalid. To be honest, I've been non-standard so long I'm not really sure what the final image was from Sam/T-mo, but I think:
PDA T879UVMA1
CSC T879TMBMA1
if someone could kindly point me to a link of the image I think I can get the rest done.
thanks

Moved to Q&A.
Need Stock firmware
Hello fellow android enthusiasts.
I have an SGH-T879 stuck in a boot loop and am looking for any version of the stock firmware so I can reflash the device thru Odin.
Samware links are dead and so are the ones I could find on XDA.
Any help will be appreciated.
What would happen if I flash the ATT version as a last resort only?
Thank you
I think I got it here: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-note-/SGH-T879/
the AT&T one will work, but without T-Mo features, chief one being wifi calling which works flawlessly on that device. otherwise good to go
