Just downloaded the Dolphin Pad browser from the market and is oh so sweet. Made for the tablet and has gestures. Check it out.
is it that much better than dolphin v6?

I think so. It feels much more like its built for a larger screen than HD. No more finger at the bottom (gosh that got in my way). Not glitchy anymore when swiping bookmarks open either. My screen used to stick when I swiped to open bookmarks.
i still like the stock version =P since i've gotten the xoom i havent went for any browsers yet
I do like this new browser a lot! It's about time they made a browser to focus specifically on tablets, more specifically... the Honeycomb tablets. The settings menu looks so much like the Honeycomb system settings menu... split screen windows. I'm coming from Dolphin Browser HD myself. I think I will be converting to Dolphin Pad soon.
Looking forward to future updates!
always use dolphin since I bought my xoom. Thanks.
I may be dim here, but how do you get it to recognize gestures? In Dolphin HD you would just touch and hold the lower left corner of the screen.
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
Is some kind Xoomer able to post the .apk? The market will not allow non-honeycomb tablets to download it, It would be much appreciated.

Awesome! Thanks for the find. I'm not much on Beta so I am looking forward to a final release. I'll follow the thread and thanks again!
I'll try it and see how it handles
Crashed on me once. Other than that, nothing else bugs me about it. Feels much faster than stock... Incredibly.

Nice find. I didn't see that one.
Question. Does Dolphin allow the browsing tab bar to stay at the top? That's the main reason why I use the stock browser because I can press on the tabs easily anytime.
I remember that scrolling down a long web page in Dolphin will just make the tabs disappear and I had to scroll back up to the top of the page before I can use the tabs.

The tabs don't scroll in this version. I like it better than dolphin HD.
Am I the only person that hates having no back button on the top left side for these browsers. I like the full screen button, but when I go full screen I lose the back button...would make sense to add a small back button or option for that.
I also hate the gesture button on the right side, but it is better than the phone version in the bottom left corner IMO.
I love the popup menu on the stock browser, but hate that it hides the tabs...wish someone would copy that or create a solution where the controls can be hit in the corners specified by the user.
I must be holding my tablet wrong
Am I missing something?
Want to import my bookmarks from Dolphin HD to this version but can't find any option to import bookmarks using the backup file I created in the phone version?
And really like this version. Same speed as the phone version but with better ui for the bigger screen.

thank you diablo, I couldn't get it on the market from Belgium (was announced "not available anymore")... I was also using Dolphin HD 6 on my tablet, along with Opera mobile, I'll try this one on my Transformer in the evening.

Thanks for the post, looks like they really have coded it specifically for honeycomb devices though, the rest of us will have to wait.

Hi,
Fyi, I just noticed that Dolphin Mini browser is now out of beta, available on market.
The key changes, for me are that you can now select plugin behavior, and setting a gesture to Homepage now correctly goes to the Speed dial page, so I can use fullscreen almost 100%.
Jim
I really like it so far, seems to scroll smoother and they downsized those monster tabs! I'll have to try it on my phone.

Yeah. Looks nice.
It took me awhile, but I'm starting to like Dolphin Mini.
I still think that Xscope is faster, but I've been having problems with Flash (other thread here), and I really want a browser where I can leave it in full screen to take advantage of the Gtab screen size, without constantly pressing Menu to navigate.
The Dolphin Mini 1.0 allows me to do that.
Basically, I set all of the links that I usually go to on the Homepage/Speed dial page.
Then I set a gesture (a small "h") to go to the Speed Dial. Then go to fullscreen.
So now, whenever I want to go back to speed dial, I just do the "h" gesture, and I go from there, staying fullscreen all the time.
Jim
I started a new thread because I'm not sure if the app is not 100% compatible with a rooted nook.
When browsing, xScope will enter full screen mode, hiding the tab and address bars also the control panel on the bottom. I have full screen disabled in the options, so does anyone know what's going on?
There's an option regarding the notification bar. I can hide everything but the bottom bar.
The only issue I'm currently having is that a lot of the menus are white text on white backgrounds. If you press and hold you can see the menu entries which is workable for now - I've contacted the developer about the issue.
OK, I see what's going on now...
When I enter a text field, the keyboard comes up. When I'm done, the bars dissapear.
I've changed the settings so that the menu button brings them back, but is this normal behavior? The bars should come back on their own.
In xscope full screen, I have trouble pressing the buttons on the bottom edge of the screen, does anyone have that problem?

Same issue with the buttons in the lower corners of the screen. I have issues with other apps also where the buttons are in corners, bottom or not. Just seems app specific.

What I did was move the bottom bar to the top where it is easier to press the buttons and then I increased the screen density to 210. That makes the buttons larger and easier to press.

Yes. Really sucks. I love xScope and have had to switch to Dolphin Mini because of this problem. I love how xScope does text redraws quickly and without fuss. Not many other browsers do that.

I did that but find that it really makes it much more difficult to use the browser when you have to constantly reach for the top. I love how Dolphin Mini allows me to keep both hands at the bottom to do everything I need.
I want to have an experience where my hands aren't having to jump all over the place just to move along quickly through my daily reading.

I had also moved my bar to the top and its much easier to use for me...
Otherwise, I like the browser, but still haven't figured out how to easily close tabs.
I honestly find Dolphin a bit easier to use..

For xscope, just tap a tab to close it.

Hey People! I have searched around and have not found what I am after. Don't mean its not there, I just haven't found it...
Anyway, is there a theme or flash I could use to make the main screen icons larger and the dial pad larger?
Reason I am asking is because my mother-in-law wants to have my motorola. But she can't see very well.. Reason for the larger buttons. All I would like to have on it would be a clock, contacts and a dial pad.
Is there any such thing available? If not, is anyone available to make it happen?
Thanks
Adjust the settings in build.prop?

Nova launcher free can make the home screen icons larger.

About icon, follow @channeledbymodem's idea
About text, AHD has option to make text larger under Accessibility. You can use magnification gesture too to zoom screen.
About dialer, I tried to search on google and found some big dialer pad but it may be fine if you dont mind about its appearance. In my perspective, it's really ugly :silly:
Hope it helps you.
BR,
DK
Edit: checked and I saw that magnification gesture can help to zoom the dialer pad and other areas too ( clock, contacts,..etc)
Got it! Thanks guys!

If you decide to edit the build.prop file you MUST BE ROOTED. It is located @ /system/build.prop It's at the bottom of the list in the directory usually. Once opened (with the File Manager of your choice - I prefer Root Browser - or Build Prop Editor - both available @ the Play Store) scroll to the end of the file and look for "ro.sf.lcd_density=300" Sometimes it's 320. Change that number to something like 400, (450 is about the max you'd want to go before you run into issues with dialog boxes being so large that you cannot select the "done","okay" or "save" button) save and reboot your device. Voila, everything is larger (except the dial pad for some reason - but, there was a suggestion in an above post for an aftermarket dial pad with large keys.
Here are a few screenshots:
Yea I rooted the phone months ago. even has 4.1.1
I used nova and it did exactly what I wanted. You guys are Great!
I can't seem to properly apply a wallpaper with Google Now Launcher. Every time I do, it basically shifts the whole thing to the right, almost as if it's centering it on the right border. I only use 1 home screen (plus the Google now cards screen to the left) so it just doesn't look right like that. Using something like ES file Explorer kind of helps because you can manipulate a bit how to line it up, but it seems imperfect and time consuming. I'd love to just be able to apply them from something like ZEDGE. Anyone have any suggestions?

The solution I came up with was to go into the app drawer and drag an icon to a separate home screen and then drag another icon to another screen (making 3 screens plus Google now). Apply the wallpaper and then remove the extra two shortcuts to go back to one screen.

This seems to work better than any other solution I've tried. Thanks for the heads up. Not quite perfect but easily better than doing the "guess and check" method of manually lining things up. What an annoyance though, right? It's a wallpaper, it shouldn't be this complicated.

I know... I just started using Google Now Launcher again after using Nova forever, because I like having Google Now to the left of the home screen and I've really started using a more minimal desktop with just one screen. It seems to me that Google of all development crews out there would know about this and fix it. It's a minor annoyance. But an annoyance nonetheless. If anyone else has any other possible solutions, I would love to hear them as well.

I've very strongly considered going over to Nova, except like you, I really like having the Now cards to the left and I'm just not willing to give them up. The only other method I found that semi works, I found an app on the playstore called Image 2 Wallpaper
Does what it sounds like, but there's a little bit of "playing around" you can do with lining things up. The way I've found it to at least sort of do what I want is to tap pick image from gallery, pick the image, down in the bottom half where there are options swipe over to the "Align" section, and hit "Move Left". Then hit the little green icon to the right of the preview to "set" it. Again it's not perfect but it's another option to add to the toolbox of methods I guess. I think yours seems to be a little more accurate, and much quicker though.
This is probably not the best solution for you, but thought I would mention that Action Launcher 3 also has the "swipe left for Google Now" functionality and it handles wallpaper much better. It has a lot of other neat features too, although it's not free. There is a free trial version though that might work for your purposes.

That's interesting... I've used Action Launcher 2 a long time ago but never got into it a whole lot. Does it have Google Now to the left in the exact same way that Google Now Launcher does, or is it more like "a swipe right gesture opens Google Now"?

It's pretty close. The only thing that's missing is the animation when you swipe back to the home screen, IIRC. The developer said that's because of a limitation in the API. It does animate when swiping into Google Now though.

I'm definitely intrigued. I just downloaded it, but swiping to the side just brings up what kind of appears to be a sort of quick app drawer thing. How do you enable the google now cards screen?
It's been awhile since I've used it, but there should be a way to turn it on in the settings. That other thing is called the QuickDrawer which you might need to move to the other side.
[edit]
Found it -- go to Shortcuts under Settings, then Swipe Horizontal, and change Leftmost Home Screen to Search (Google Now).
One thing I don't like is how it automatically opens the keyboard for the search bar. The Google Now Launcher's implementation is much better. If only someone could combine that with Nova Prime's features, I could die happy.

Thanks for the update/edit. I was actually in there earlier but was specifically looking for Google Now instead of Search. I definitely see what you mean regarding the keyboard. It's soooo close. If they could just kill the automatic kb popup it'd be pretty perfect. I'm going to play with it a bit. It definitely feels fluid. And I like the idea of being able to properly theme and whatnot (one of the things I missed from homescreen replacements like Nova). If I like it enough I have enough in my play account from surveys to buy the full version. So far I'm digging it though, thanks again for the recommendation.

Cool, let me know if you discover any good tweaks!
I'm looking for a browser that uses the Nook hard device buttons to scroll the page. I'm expecting a page jump like when you hit Spacebar on desktop. I've tried Opera Mini, Opera Classic, and 2 Dolphin version so far with no luck. I'm hoping there's a browser that does this. Maybe I can configure the buttons ?
You want a browser that can scroll using volume buttons and then use NTTM to assign volume up/down to two hardware buttons.
@nmyshkin Thanks for the suggestion. Do you know a browser off hand that scrolls with volume buttons?
