Last night when i connected my phone to the PC through ZUNE software, i was notified i have a software update from HTC. I proceeded with the upgrade, properly following the instructions. Problem was the update stopped at 9/10, even after i waited for 20 minutes still no change (phone is still working that time).
But when i tried to do RESTORE my phone through ZUNE again (i was worried software update was not fully successful) i received an error 80180083 ("the data received was corrupt or not valid") around 70% status. It asked me to disconnect phone. Now the phone is stuck with a picture showing me to connect my phone to the pc. When i do this, it will try to do a restore again but will repeatedly fail the same as before.
Even if i do a HARD reset (power BUTTON + up&down VOLUME), i will still get the same screen showing me the picture to connect my phone to the PC. Nothing seems to correct this problem (i consulted Microsoft Answers website for this, no clear solution so far and some people submitted their phones to HTC).
Anybody recently encountered this? Let me know how you resolved this problem...
Thanks!

Just found this link hope its of some help to you

Thanks for your help but I just sent in my phone for repair. Apparently the motherboard was replaced.
When i redid my update after getting back my phone, it was definintely faster. The update was succesful!
The major difference is the amount of memory space on my phone - previously my remaining space was ard 600mb (lots of music) compared to post repair (14G). Maybe that made my previous update difficult. I think it's best to remove files before doing the update, esp when it nearing full.
Just my 2 cents...

Good day forum,
I would really appreciate your help on this:
This afternoon I deleted a file from the Kaiser's Micro SD card (a jpeg picture, but a pretty large one).
While deleting you clould see the "working" symbol in the middle of the screen until the symbol froze. I left the unit alone for about five minutes (way enough time to delete a file......) and made a soft reset since the Kaiser would not react any more.
Since then the unit behaves very strange: after starting you can hear the vibrating alarm for a second and the screen shows "smart mobility". This screen stays up for about 15 seconds but the display of the SW version etc. will not show up any more. The units shuts itself down and repeats the same procedure over and over again.
I check the forum, to no avail. Yes, a hard reset is still possible and was performed twice, no success.
Can anyone give me a clue what is wrong. My Kaiser is a German model with original ROM, nothing changed from the original. Reflashing the unit by myself is not possible since there is no German Kaiser ROM to download. And it might not cure the problem.
Thank you all
GZ
Try to pull out the microSD...
I had a similar issue deleting alot of files with pocket mechanic. Left it on for a few minutes, just to realize that it died on me. Apparently, with some trouble shooting steps, i was able to resolve the issue. Make sure your phone is connected to a external power supply(not the computers). I found out that the battery i had was on a critical low, everytime i boot it up it would just reach the smart mobility screen and just turn off. (which was strange because i had 70% battery life before i deleted the files) Eventually, i figured out the battery was drained. I immediately plugged it into an external adapter(using pc's wasnt enough power) and managed to get into the today screen. I let it charge a bit and everything was resolved. Hope this helps! goodluck
All,
connecting the Kaiser with it's original Power adapter (5V, 1A) made no difference. The unit will not even go in charge mode, it keeps rebooting every 15 seconds. I left it like this for 30 minutes and gave up.
Is there anybody who can tell me how a business critical device like this can die while deleting a standard file from the SD card in such a manner that I have to turn it in for repair (propably gone for weeks)? What did I do wrong?
If this is a standard on these type of devices I have to rethink my decision. I was facing the same issue with a Sony Ericsson K800i which died during transfer of a file via Bluetooth. Had to send it in for repair (2,5 weeks gone), but SE admitted that it was an OS bug and released a new FW available for download 1 month later.
I can still hard reset the TyTN and I can get into bootloader mode while pressig the camera button during startup, but I am missing the original German ROM to reflash the unit.
Any help out there?
Best regards
GZ
have u asked HTC see what they say or try cingular? See what they sar
Upon rebooting of my HD7, many times it will show the HTC logo, then go straight to a screen showing the device being plugged into a pc. It will continue to do this regardless of how many times I reboot. The only way out of it is to reboot into the bootloader by pressing power and volume down, and then rebooting from there. Ive tried to plug it into a pc and let the zune software reflash the whole thing, but it complains that there was a problem with the restore... and when I do get it to reboot, there are NO probelms at all! (Besides the memory problem with The Harvest crashing out to the tiles like everyone else it seems). Has anyone else had this problem? Weird thing is, the first phone the TMobile sales rep brought out did the same thing! I wonder if its some kind of problem with the actual bootloader?
Had the same issue.

I'm guessing there was a bad batch somewhere, a very limited batch as you're the only other person I've seen say this
FYI. I've had this happen too. I had to pull the battery to get it fixed.

Same problem, if the phone dies and you turn it back on you get "connect your phone to computer" screen (and the phone loops turning off then back on to the same screen, and then repeats); and if you manually turn the phone on and then back on you get "connect your phone to computer" screen as well.
Battery pull is the only fix at this point. I haven't seen much of this problem either, if i find out its a hardware issue i'm getting mine swapped out ASAP.
I had similar issue just downgraded it to nodo using goldcard and the issue resolved.
Cheers.
I've downloaded from www.lg.com a software "LGMobile Phone Software Update Tool Install" and running always freezes with approx. 10% of progress-bar. (in each windows xp, vista and 7)
How long must i gonna waiting?
Same thing happened to me today.
I got it to work by rebooting my computer.
However it was not worth the effort. The tool informed that an update was available but then after a couple of other steps then it then informed me that my phone LGP990 (Optimus 2X) was not supported by the update tool

same here...
update tool
Same problem here.
I had the same problems using the program when connected to the internet through a proxy server. It seems that you need a direct internet connection to start the program.
Anybody knows why the on the phone "check for updates" menu is giving id check errors or not running at all??
I wasnt able to update the phone The update freezed, and I got the message to unplug my phone and take out my battery I tried it several times with no luck Finally I changed the cable, and the phone updated fine The cable I used first was a brand new original cable I think there is something factory wrong with the cable and the charging unit It doesnt seem to charge the battery as it should do either I am taking it bacj to the store today for repair My LG O2x is running 2.2.2 like a dream now

LG Mobile Update Tool
Guys, I had a bad experience with the LG Mobile Update Tool. My recommendation is DO NOT USE IT. Here's why:
I recently got 2 Optimus P500 for me and my gf, experimented on my phone updating to 2.2.2 using this tool. Everything went fine until it got stuck at 50% or something and the phone's screen on Emergency Mode. Luckily after removing my battery and turning on the phone, it booted fine and I checked the software version and it updated, that was my 1st scare.
Now, after convincing my gf to update her phone as well (she witnessed my 1st scare), I start doing the same thing with her phone, it downloads the update blablabla when it is supossed to start flashing it got stuck at 4% and it lost connection to the phone. The phone was in Emergency Mode as well so I proceed to remove the battery, it boots, I check the software version it was 2.2.1 (same version it had) so I decided to retry (BAD DECISION). I plug the phone back, and hit Retry, it starts updating, then again it gets stuck on 4% and loses connection. The phone's screen in Emergency Mode, I remove the battery again and no luck. Now it just boots straight into Emergency Mode and my PC won't recognize it.
Now, I'm not an expert on these phones but there's the KDZ tool which you can find somewhere in this forum and use that. Find the latest .kdz for your phone and flash it yourself without using the Mobile Update Tool, I should've done that myself after the 1st scare.
My optimus P990 got stuck while using update tool...can't get it runnig again. Please wait while upgrading.....for four days now. :-(
I am wondering if I made the right choice switching to LG instead of SEx10!
i was facing the same problem, then i switched the cable onto another USB ports of my PC... suddenly it worked... but if i knew it's not worth it, i wouldn't have it done...
sucks, now i have to re-install all of my apps and restore my datas...
LG firmware upgrade 4% emergency mode problem
I agree -- if you are considering upgrading your LG P500 Optimus One firmware, then I would suggest that if you are happy with the way your phone is working then it's not worth the risk of the problems that it could cause you.
In my case, like a previous post, I was going through the process of installing my first firmware upgrade for my Optimus phone -- it also stopped at 4% and there was another window in the background saying that the USB connection had failed (even though it was still connected). The phone was showing a yellow screen saying it was in "emergency mode". I had previously decided to do the upgrade after scanning the internet for any possible problems that people had with their LG firmware upgrades, and had read about the "emergency mode", but trusted the software to do it's job, so I was surprised that this was also happening to my phone. Luckily, after taking out the battery and restarting the phone, it booted up to my usual screen and I hadn't lost any data. It is not as responsive as it was before, sometimes apps don't respond, so something may have been written to the phone, though I don't want to go through the process like before and have problems occurring.
Therefore, my advice is to NOT upgrade firmware using the LG software until they can improve it and not have everyone facing these kinds of problems.
I tried to update my phone with the official software. Halfway through, it said it lost connection with the phone, and then after following the instructions, and taking out the battery and trying again, it said that the phone did not require updating. Unfortunately, it would turn on, being stuck at "Software Upgrading. . . ", so I had to use nvflash to sort it out. The LG update software is flakey, and I wouldn't risk using it!
so how to by pass the hanged phone now?
i encountered yesterday.
I also have freezes too often with software and i reported about it to LG and they just said "try with another computer"...
If my computer can't ****ing handle that **** bit soft then no other computer can i would say...
But thats LG and their taughts... bad devs!
i have the same problem, install freezes at 10% so so...
but had somebody deleted all the LG registry entries to try reinstall it????
i'll take a look at it
possible fix
I tried something and it started updating again. You should try to go to the "Customer Support" tab on the LGMobile Support Tool and click on "Recovery Phone." Now look on your phone for the IEMI # and enter that in the IEMI field, then hit check. It should start the update process again. Hope this works.
Stupid LG
To make it work use Windows XP or windows 7, then put the phone in upgrade mode (turn off, press volume + button and plug into usb) then hit retry on the ****ing tool
After trying to fix the errors I got in TWRP saying unable to mount internal storage/sdcard (therefore being unable to download anything on the phone but apps), I tried flashing the most recent official AT&T RUU from HTC. I noticed it kept taking a while, so I left it while I went to an Easter party last night, and when I came back, I got error 155. So it took anywhere from 20 mins to 8 or 9 hours for it to fail. So I thought I would unlock the bootloader to flash some things. I did this the normal route, with the unlock.bin from htcdev. And after I clicked yes to unlock, it turned off, to never turn back on again. RIP, you will be missed (sorta) The only sign of life I see from this device is the orange LED turning on when I plug it into my PC. RIP
On a side note, if anyone knows how to fix the device in this state without difficulty (rolls eyes) contact me on here, even though the threads for this phone often have no participants.
On April 6, my Mi 9 started turning off at random times - I tried but was not able to reproduce it, so could not identify the root cause to any app / battery level / etc. I could turning it on again by just pressing the power button. It would be stable for a couple of hours until it would shut down again.
On April 7, same symptoms shown, but just pressing power would not turn it on again. I had to press volume up and power, get to recovery menu and mark "reboot to system".
On April 8, same symptoms show, but this time, no key combination would turn it back on. If I connect the charging cable to power, no led would blink and there was no battery charging animation. Connecting to the computer, there was no USB device identified. It was dead.
On April 9, in the morning, while trying to turn it back on, it would blink the notification led twice, but that was it. So I sent it to a service repair shop - not a Xiaomi authorized service repair.
On April 13, the service repair shop has provided me a quote for fixing the phone: reformatting the phone. Since for me this was a hardware and not a software problem, I collected the phone back.. and it was working as if nothing happened, no software was updated.
On April 14, it shut down again, twice. Pressing the power up worked fine.
On April 15, I unlocked the bootloader and flashed the software again with MiFlash on fastboot mode.
The phone is now stable, although it's my secondary phone now - so I use it much less frequently. But since I have no idea what triggered the problem, I don't know if the phone is stable enough, or if the issue will repeat at any minute - especially when I most need the phone.
Also, I tried contacting the service shop technician, to check if he reconnected the battery cable or checked for any short circuit on the board, but couldn't because of the lockdown. So I have no idea why phone is back from the dead, and no idea if/when it will turn itself randomly again.
So my question to the experts:
1) What could have caused this issue with the phone? What are the possible ways to monitor / check what could have caused the issue? Is there any way to capture a crash report after fact?
2) How can I ensure that this won't happen again? I already reflashed the phone, but I wonder if I should do something else..
3) What can be done to try to reproduce the issue? If there is a way to learn from the phone crashing, what are the things I can do to improve the odds of the phone crashing again?
Thanks!
Update: I left the phone to be serviced... and they could not find any issue with the phone. It is now working, but I'm pretty sure in 1 or 2 days it will stop entirely again...
.. and have no way to monitor it
tha same problem here. my mi9 suddenly died! what can i do? waiting the service or buy a new one?
the same problem, my phone just suddenly said the system was destroyed
Same problem here. Service said "no warranty - damage due to damp"
I doubt it. But now I have to handle it on my own.
@lusp00ky: Does your phone still work after you re-flashed it?
Still hope the best ;-)

Unlock BL and clean flash did not work for me.
Now it is dead until the battery is drained. After that it can be brought to live again by a charger.
I don't get it. -.-"
