Big fan of ya'll for a long time... Just decided to sign up and ask a question:
I installed CM7 for the first time, mainly because I wanted FM Radio on my N1. I'm disappointed to find out that the sound comes out from only one channel (right side, mono only, no matter what the setting).
I researched heavily but couldn't find a similar post. Am I the only one experiencing the FM Radio sound coming out of only one earphone?
BTW, all other features are working perfectly...
My radio is 5.08
hboot is fully updated
I'm using one of the CM7 nightly after the RC1
Thanks!

I don't know whether it provides stereo or not as I don't listen to music at all when I turn on radio. But I do have sound from both sides.

Thanks for your feedback... Definitely, the issue is that I'm getting sound out of one side (right earphone) only... I tried multiple headphones, including the original N1 headset... All the same, sound comes out of one side...
Not sure what the issue is. As I mentioned, I researched a lot and no one seems to have this problem... Everything else on the phone runs perfectly.
bump
Still, after format and full wipe, re-installed CM7 RC2, and FM Radio still comes out of one (right) earphone.
Working great here. Audio is coming out in stereo. If you click menu in the Radio app, then settings, under audio output mode there is a setting for stereo or mono.

I've tried everything... Nothing seems to work, sound still comes out of right earphone only...
I'm still baffled as everything else on the phone works perfectly... I've wiped (data, dalvik) and formatted partitions, fresh installed the ROM... Still the same issue... It must then be a hardware issue... My radio is 5.08... Does that make a difference??
Just want to be sure, did you test playing music through the normal music player? And both sides work through that?

oh yes, definitely! Sound from music player is perfect, can't ask for better... I even tried different sets of earphones, including the stock N1 earpieces... As I said, everything on the phone is working perfectly except for the FM Radio... I don't even get the wonks everyone is complaining about.
I know this is a hopeless case as I seem to be the only one with this problem...
Did another full wipe (system + dalvik), plus formatted the partitions... installed CM7 rc3, fresh and clean... Still, I can only hear the FM Radio sound coming out of the right earphone...
Oh well, I'm figuring it must be a driver/hardware issue... Since it's basically the bluetooth unit transmitting the sound, maybe my N1's BT is purely mono (or somehow stuck on mono (?))...

If he was on Froyo or Gingerbread I suppose he didn't asked for something similar to SpiritFM because he would simply use the stoc FM Radio. I believe he is on some ICS custom/ported ROM.
Unfortunately I don't know of any other alternative than SpiritFM for our phone.

Its not possible without a internet streaming connection, seen as Android doesn't give out the API's for the FM Radio and RDS.
How did SpiritFM destroy you're speaker may i ask?

actually im using ICS 4.0.3, Custome ROM which is not supported Stock FM radio apps.
This Spirit FM did kill my speaker, i dont know how it kill, but it just killed same like other people as well T_T
SpiritFM can kill an i9000 speaker, but not always. I'm using it on an SGS with zero problems. Also, today the developer pushed out a new update on Play that should hopefully fix it.
One thing I did to *try* to minimize chances of blowing my speaker/headphones on first launch of Spirit was to manually toggle Voodoo Sound to -36 dB. This may not have done anything, or kicked in a little slow -- I think it was louder for a split second and then volume dropped off quickly. But from what I gather, if it doesn't blow your speaker right away, then your i9000 is one of the safe ones.
Hi guys,
I’m from Turkey, I'm new user on this forum and I'm so sorry for quite poor English. I bought a L90 (D405-TR). But there isn’t FM Radio app in applications menu.
I read some Turkish forums (for LG G2) installing the ROM of different countries or by rooting to activate FM Radio.
1) I rooted the device. My /cust/OPEN_AME/TR/config/custom_apk_list.cfg contents as follows:
-/system/app/LGFmRadio.apk
Click to collapse
I've made this change in content is as follows, and I restart the phone:
+/system/app/LGFmRadio.apk
Click to collapse
Then I saw FM Radio app in the phone's application menu. I plugged a headset, and opening FM Radio app on app menu. But menus and buttons are passive. So that I could not listen fm radio
2) I flashed England and Italy's ROMs, I saw FM Radio app in the phone's application menu. Again I plugged a headset, and opening FM Radio app on app menu. But menus and buttons are passive. So that I could not listen fm radio
3) Both the phone is rooted, and while both been installed in a different country (which again was the root case)… I was installed Spirit FM Radio, Connected Music Player, etc. I did not listen to the radio.
Q1: Is there Fm radio receiver / hardware on my device? How can I check/detect whether there is?
Q2: Let's assume that there is an FM radio receiver. Both of these methods are not listened to the radio?
Q3: Fm Radio hardware which prevents other transactions have to do?

According to the research I've done, this morning in fact, there is a builtin FM radio receiver in some D405 and D410 models. However I cannot be more specific than that. I do know that the D415 does NOT have a builtin FM receiver.

Thanks @PBakker for reply. I've already flashed a ROM belonging to the Italian model (d405n). But still, I could not listen to the radio. When I flashed any ROM, Does changing the kernel? (I think the problem is caused by radio to the kernel prevent, If there is fm radio hardware on my phone. However, my device, I don't know whether it is fm radio hw.).
As far as i know by most rom packages you need to update or change the kernel seperately. So kernel not affected by installing rom

Kernel is part of boot.img. So flashing ROM does affect kernel.

I have the same problem. I just bought the phone yesterday, (L90 D405-TR) and this evening i realized there's no radio app in the app drawer.
Is it possible to use it's radio receiver using an app from google play ? Or do those require mobile data ?
I guess we need to find out first and foremost whether our model (L90 D405-TR) has a radio receiver after all...

I haven't, not even once and I got the phone for more than a year but I understand that some people would like to see that feature.
For what is worth if you still need to find the answer.
Open the Google music play app and if your phone has an FM radio tuner you will see the following options:
Listen Now
My Library
Playlists
Radio
Explore
If radio is not listed as one of the options then your phone lacks that capability.
Hope this helps.
Cheers......

I found this online and can confirm it works with the Verizon variant of the V50. It's version 7.20.12. You must allow installations from non-trusted sources under settings/security to install this app. Enjoy!!
You can download it from android file host HERE.
Enjoy!
Screenshots of installed app.
UPDATED 8.6.2019 - Download link updated to provide LG FM Radio version 7.20.12. Thanks to @Inerent for informing me of the newer version of this app.

Thanks for sharing. I had installed v7.0.16 on my LG G7+ and I realized that it was buggy with lots of noise while listening to certain stations. Now I've installed this upgrade (v 7.10.8) and it works like a charm. Thanks a lot

Did you know that It's a similar app from LG called TV? It scans, with the headphones, for local TV stations. Pretty cool!

Sent you PM
Just installed it on my LG G8. Thanks!
I heard there is a TV Tuner App for the LG; is this true?
I have the European model LG V50 - LVM500EM. I installed the FM radio apk app from external source. At first, it was installed like a charm. But when I tried to turn it on it won't work at all. The weird thing is it recognised the earphone not connected when I unplugged it.
Then I installed NextRadio apk and it saying that my phone supports FM radio. Again, it won't work when I turned it on.
Is there something wrong with the device? A help would be appreciated.

Radio fm in lg g8s?
hello, could the fm radio work with nextradio on LG G8s European version?
I've tryed, it doesn't seem to work on g8s
Hello everyone I introduce myself, I am new to this forum.
I have had the version LMV500EM and I have had to return it after two days for not being able to activate the radio, with no version of the LG radio apk or NEXTRADIO. The latter, gives a congratulatory message after detecting the existence of the radio chip, indicates that the headphones are connected, but does not search for any station.
Has anyone found a solution for this problem? I would buy this mobile again if it were possible for the FM radio to work. It is essential for me.
Thank you.
Sorry for bumping an old thread but I'm having the same problem with my LG V60 Thinq. LM-V600EA. I can install the FM radio app but it won't start the radio. It gives a message to plug in headphones if none are in, but once I plug some in clicking the on button does nothing. I even have the correct APK from another V60 Thinq variant. I think it is sickening that LG does this and I will be returning the phone and never buying any more LG products ever again.
True. In the end for this reason I had to buy the Korean version. The radio is activated, but in return I have network problems with Spanish operators and some texts and applications that always appear in Korean language. This region policy is a shame.
I'm using version 9.20.16 of LG's FM Radio app on an LG K51 (LM-K500UM). Has anyone found a previous version of the app that doesn't require that Bluetooth must be off to play the fm radio? The NextRadio app does run when Bluetooth is connected to a headset, but it detects audio re-routing and "thinks" the headphone wire has been disconnected and insists that a headset be plugged in for use of its cord as an antenna. The LG FM Radio app toasts "Cannot start FM Radio while Bluetooth headset is connected." Therefore, I can't use my Bluetooth speaker, which doesn't have a built-in tuner, as I have done with other setups in the past, to wirelessly play the fm radio through it. I use Lesser AudioSwitch and SoundAbout as audio routers. Thanks for any help with this. Incidentally, my phone isn't rooted, so I can't use Mike Reid's Spirit FM app.

Same situation and same model, bought fully expecting it to have fm radio, would also appreciate help too
I am starting to suspect that LG has disabled fm on LVM500EM and that US and Korean versions can support it
