[Q] CWM Question - LG Optimus 2x

Hey dudes,
I have some questions on CWM Recovery..
Im on stock rom now (again ) but i wanna try out some roms again..
Now last time i tried to make a backup, flash a custom rom and after that restore again, but somehow i can never restore..
You have any idea on that??
Using stock 2.2.2 rom, CM7 nightlies and CWM from Rom Manager (4.0.0.9)

Have you tried restoring without rom manager? it's a great app, but it can play up sometimes.

If you have cwm on your phone then yes you can install roms just using it, usually the roms say if they are CWM versions or if they need Odin. As your looking at darkys rom I can tell you it does let you install it via cwm, and you dont need anything else, just copy the zip to your sdcard card and install.
Thanks...you.r good man hhe

Cm7 to other roms

Hi I'm on cm7 at the moment how would I go about going to another rom lets say the miui rom? And would my clockwork backup of cm7 still work if I wanted to revert?
Thanks

Noob question , need help

If i follow this steps is there any chance to brick my phone?
I want to install paranoid android build 5 .
1. Make a backup
2. Clear cache
3.Clear davlik
4.Format /system
5.Install zip from sdcard
I want to install this custom rom only if there are 100% no chances to brick my phone

There isn't 100 percent change to have succeed. Anyway LG is hard to brick. I successfully changed my rom but after 2 weeks it got huge problems nd cannot mount partition.
After clearance by NVflash all problems gone.
If you aren't coming from PA rom, and wipe data petition also.

I have stock rom v20s

Then you need to do a full wipe.

I understand your hesitance I felt the same way.. untilled I successfully did it.. first one I tried was cm7 official build used the same steps u list but got a boot loop (this is not a brick as u can still access recovery) .. anyway I had to nvflash the rom and it worked and I now change Tom's all the time just to test and mess about with .. its easy and there is plenty of support available ... good luck

I did it recently, with exact same rom and I love it!
And what about the Gapps? I flash them after i flash the rom? I have to do a full wipe again?

Gapps are flashed after the rom without a full wipe in between.

[q] [cwm][gt-i9305]

Can cwm (clockworkmod touch 6.0.2.8) be ported to stock kernel ie: pre-rooted stock rom I9305XXBLL3 EEUK! Sorry if this does not make any sense i suppose i feel a bit of a noob when it comes to this device, but by all accounts this LTE version of the s3 seems a lot more sensitive that of other sgs's I have had over the past few years. As I have successfully rooted and customised all of them
Cwm is a recovery and can be used in conjunction with any Rom or kernel

I know cwm is a recovery as I already flashed it via odin on 4.1.1 stock rom,and many times on my s2. I just wanted to know if the latest cwm touch can be applied to stock kernel as I am now on latest pre-rooted 4.1.2 firmware. These firmware packages only contain su binary and busybox but no custom recovery,if the touch version will not work I will just flash normal cwm for our device. I just want to avoid unwanted difficulties.

Like I said "CWM can be used in conjunction with any ROM or kernel" you'll be fine mate.

I have been busy working all week, but flashed the cwm touch on my GTI9305 last night and its awsome! The only small issue was I had to format my 64gb ext sdcard from exfat to fat32 so cwm could read it. All is well now, full backup done and sitting happily on my extsd.

Was happening to me as well. This solution works.
Now a question. If I want to flash another rom I need to change bootloader again?
Thanks.
