I've searched a lot for this but most posts are very old and I'm searching for a more updated opinion. Is it possible to use the wiimote with the captivate for use with an emulator?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I896 using XDA App
Yes with an aosp rom (cm7) can, but Samsung based rom can't has something to do with how Samsung setup Bluetooth stack
Do you think that the gingerbread update will change anything?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I896 using XDA App
No, Samsung didn't change the Bluetooth stack in the sgs 2.3 update so they probably wont change in the captivate version.

Sorry if this is posted under the wrong thread but I have seen other posts about porting apk's here so anyway here it goes:
I'm sure that by now today Skype has lifted its Verizon Android phone only limitions and is now extending them to ALL Android devices. The only problem is that an updated app is TBA. With that being said, I stumbled across this site earlier: http://www.chadhaney.com/droidXDefault/ which has all the apk's for the Droid X listed in alphabetical order. Needless to say I installed the Skype Live apk and it appeared to load but gave me a message stating that it was for Verizon phones only. Would it be possible for someone to port this to the Captivate, and since the FM Radio apk is there too, would that also be possible? Thanks in advance!!!

I meant to say that "I'm sure by now everyone knows that today Skype..."...

skype is on app market already.
FM radio i think captivate just missing out the chips that was used for it in i9000, and guess that's the same one for verizon's galaxy s.
I've been trying the Market version but it wont let me sign in...I've only had success with the beta which...sucks lol...

What's the likelyhood of getting the BT Voice commands APK/odex from the Droid X and applying them?
I wouldn't expect to see BT Voice control until the official FroYo release for our phone.

Depends on if it has any dependencies in Motorola specific frameworks or not.

I am on cog5.5 and have not experienced the dropped connection issue

I know CyanogenMOD is most likely going to be implementing this stack once its comes out on the Vibrant, but Im wondering how difficult it would be if we could port just the old bluez stack to current TouchWiz based Roms like bionix?
Is this is easily feasible? Has it been attempted? If anyone has any thoughts or ideas on this matter then lets fill up this tank!
2.2 will have everything you are asking for. Once we a leak or anything we can port we will have bluetooth hud.

Ive read in the i9000 forums that 2.2 will have bluetooth hid but bluez drivers will still be missing so apps like the wiimote controller will still not work. so im wondering how arduous of a task it would be to implement that specific stack.
In that, I'm not sure.. But I'm sure someone in here has an idea

Not sure, but I had asked this in a couple threads and no-one really had an answer. It does seem possible, but I think the Samsung BT drivers are not compatible with the bluez stack and that is why we still have no wiimote support.
The only option right now is cm7. Wiimote works great on my vibrant. Cm7 is still a little buggy, but very useable as a daily. The bugs right now aren't nearly as bad as the ones that have already been resolved in the day the cm7 vibrant developer has had his vibrant.
Try it out. Having wiimote support has been great, though I can only really see myself using it at home, when I'm near my wii with emulators.

Please, hear our claims! We really want to connect our wiimotes.
Is it so difficult to implement the bluetooth stack?
Hi all,
I have heard that the Nexus S works with Wiimote controller.apk and that users are succesfully using the wiimotes with their devices.
I am under the impression that both devices have the same bluetooth and wifi chips, does anyone know if any smart person has worked out a way to get the Wiimotes working with galaxy S, or ported the drivers etc?
I am using DArky V8 and BT mouse/keyboard are working well.
bump bump bump
Bump. This would be nice to get working with n64oid.
subscribing and bumping! this will be the icing on the cake if we can get this resolved. And no CM7 is not the answer as tv out does not work, at least not at the moment.

I have tried tons of things to get this to work and even killed three rom load outs. simply replacing files wont do it.
as of now with a 2.2 rom you can see the wiimote and get all the way to where you are asked to use a passkey, but the passkey is not skippable. Also the apps that are in the market are no longer either supported or updated, but now that Galaxy S devices have the HID capabilities it would be nice if one of those dev's look at the device to get it to work.
Isn't it something to do with TouchWiz????
I think I read that somewhere
It works in cyanogenmod7.
Any progress

yes but CM7 is not stable yet.
I dont think any1 want to flash a new rom just to play some games with a wiimote and then flash another rom to use the "needed" parts of the phone, like the camera, 2g/3g etc.
To bad i would give a good donation if a dev would support this on the sgs
Any progress?

I've bought a bluetooth keyboard for my ps3 and I would like to use it on my device. I pair but can't connect. What do I need??

I need something that don't require root. I am running a non-rooted device.

Interested +1
But I would also like to hear about routing methods since I'm on cm 6.1.1
Any experience with working models?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I believe it'll work for the rooted, but not otherwise; you need some bluetooth tweaks to enable host mode.
