Hi bro, you just need to start reading the stick from forums:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=921637
should give you a great idea on how to proceed
and then there is another one on development section
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=921652
cheers ,

1. Root your phone.
2. Install xrecovery.
3. Install a custom rom, (Froyobread recommended)
4. Install overclock modules.
You'll find tutorial for each step around the xda forums.

thanks guys also i wanted to know,, how much overclocking is safe and how much isnt???

okay man im using foryobread now!! looks awesome soo far!! thanks ,,

Usually higher "v" means more features (and maybe more performance), but maybe lower stability.
FroyoBread, in my opinion, is stable at v023b

now that i have rotted , installed xrecovery,, using froyobread,, where can i get a overclock module??

Look in my signature dude.....

I have used Froyobread since v12 and i loved it, until GingerDX arrived. I would give it a try if i was you as its from Doixanh who created Froyobread and its so fast and smooth, also check this out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1151293
its multiboot and its good, also attached in the post is dualrecovery.zip which will give you both xrecovery and CWM. Have some fun and remember that the bootloader is locked so go mod your phone in the safe knowledge that pc companion will fix any problem i have come across.

Pls reconsider using custom kernel
I also got the same probs before, but I suggest U continue using custom kernel b4 revert back to stock kernel cuz actually it's much, much faster and stable with so many advantages. For ur prob, I suggest:
1) remember: ALWAYS do FULL WIPE b4 install any ROM (& of coz, compatible ROM that goes with the kernel) without do FULL WIPE the data might be conflicted with previous ones
2) back up ur apps with Titanium Backup: the easiest and so far safe method

[Q] low speed on stock rom

hello guys!!
well it's been only a month since i bought ace but it's kinda slow nowadays.
i really would appreciate if anyone can suggest safe methods of increasing speed of stock rom with tweaks and increase free space on ram.
Thanx
and one more thing, i'm running low on internal memory. so which is the best app/script out there which can work similar to s2e for cm? i've realized that one can install alot of appz by that script without running low on space. so please suggest something for my stock rom ddkq8.
Stock samsung roms are always slow. But the latest one i.e 2.3.6 ddkq8 rom is the fastest among stock roms. U can flash that rom via odin.but custom roms are many a times faster than samsung ones. So y dont u flash a custom rom. It has a better rom managment as well. Hence speedy.

well i'm already on 2.3.6 but don't know i'm afraid of flashing any custom rom. :--(
why are u even here if u scared.

i can assure you if you fullfill following things then you are good to go
1. Read English
2. Use Serach Button
3. Do not do some R&D things on your own [like flashing other device roms+kernels , rom manager , similar things]

Your phone will less likely bricked if you don't use ODIN much. I try to stay away from ODIN most of the time and just flash ROMs via CWM whenever possible

What ROM would you recommend for my sister?

Hey x8 XDA'ers.
First of all, I'm sorry for asking this kind of question, but Please bear with me man.
I'm looking for a good STABLE rom with stable battery life, good performance etc, for my sister. She's tired of hers Xperia X8 since it feels slow and react so damn slow.
I'm a SGSII user myself, so I dont know nothing about X8, but I promised her to try and improve her phone's performance so I would be grateful if you could tell me which rom's I should take a look at. Since it is my sister he knows nothing about tech-related stuff, so the rom needs to be stable and good for daily usage, since if anything goes wrong she have no clue what to do
I know XDA hate questions like "what is the best rom etc..", but I'm just asking for your personal experiences with the different rom and what you would recommend for this kind of usage
Thank you XDA!
if she doesn't need a lot of features and she's okay with eclair, i'd say stick with stock. or go for any of the gingerbread roms. all of them work great especially gingerdx and minicm7. plus if you install a custom kernel and overclock it slightly, performance would improve drastically. and if you want to go for ics, try minicm9 or isdx. h
MiniCM7 + nAa kernel is the most stable Rom out there.
Sent from my E15i using xda app-developers app
Well, if you want android 2.3 then choose between gingerDX or MiniCM7.
If android 4.0 then MiniCM9.
well, if its about your sister i can tell that she dont need high performance, but an improvement is nessecery.....and this rom must have and some beautiful icons?! am i wrong to somewhere?...no i am not!hahaha:laugh:
first to do, download x8toolbox(here), root, install busybox, install cwm, download gingerdx(here), put it in your sd card, reboot to cwm, full wipe-wipe dalvik, go to "install zip from sd", find the rom you download and wait until its finish, reboot, enjoy!
(i dont thing your sister needs a custom kernel, with this rom she will not have any problem and its a tone more awesome from eclair, so see will be happy)
this is all.
1. Pls use search next time.
2. Is the phone already rooted? Cwm installed? You may want to check our stickies for that.
3. I'm assuming your sis is on stock kernel (locked bootloader). If it's unlocked then that's a whole new ballgame.
Here are some you ay wanna check out:
1. Froyo roms are supposedly faster than gb roms (never tried though, so i can't elaborate on the features)
2. The really popular GingerDX. Smooth, fast, stable, and lots of features.
3. LinuxLx's LinuXperia. Cm 7.1. Great 2d/3d scores (dev is a girl so the appearance may be to your sister's liking)
4. Xperiafan's RCI V4. Haven't used it much but has good reviews.
Hope that helps.

First of all, thank you so much for all those fast answers! Thank you!!
#2
She mainly wants better reaction/performance but an upgrade to Gingerbread or ICS would be great as well. I don't know if it would be good for the performance or not tho.
Thanks, I think I will check out Gingerdx, isdx and miniCM9. I think I'll overclock abit, but I still want it to be 100% stable, how much can I overclock, without destroying the battery life and making it unstable?
#3
Thanks for your opinion, will take it into account.
#4
Uhm, #2 mentioned isdx, what do you say about that?
#5
Hah! yeah probably
afaik ICS has beautiful icons, but maybe gingerdx has as well?
As mentioned, I'd like to overclock abit to increase the performance, so I bet a custom kernel would be good. What would recommend?
and thanks for the quick tutorial, I do know how to root'n'flash tho, since I've done it a ton of time on several other devices
#6
Sorry, I tried to make a quick search in the x8 forums, but I couldnt find a thread about recommended roms for girls
Most ppl recommend GingerDX, so I will probably check that out as well as MiniCM9, since ICS would perhaps be great (If it is stable tho)
She isnt going to play games I can tell for sure, so 3d score doesnt matter I guess. But thanks, will check it out, since it is a girl-made ROM
Amazing fast answers, thanks man! I appreciate any feedback <3
Ics aint stable . I dont reccomand for daily use man. GingerDX or MiniCM7 are just perfect.

ok, first of all take out the battery andd look at the back sticker on the phone(on the phone!!!!!!!!), there will be a number like this 10wxx, 11wxx or 12wxx if it is 11w29+ just forget about unlocking bootloader,so you can not flash custom kernel, if it is 11w29- then look this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24630104&postcount=2 there you will find the links for guides about unlocking bootloader.
have fun!
If you unlock your bootloader and install a custom kernel (Alfs v8a CM7) I'd try GingerZaraki..
Best rom on this forum IMO..

Alfs because team GDX making Alfs kernel too!
MiniCm 7 With Hello Kitty CM7 THEME!
just try Kuyadroid
Kuyadroid is most stable rom,its on stock kernel so you dont need to unlock bootloader !! Its so easy to installing, just need rooted and xrecovery !!
Thanks, I think I have decided to go for GDX with alfs then more opinions are welcomed!

Okay, I have a few final questions.
The script to root x8 require ADB, so I need to install that again (just reinstalled windows), was so complicated.
Isnt SuperOneClick easier? ( This method -> http://www.xperia-x8.com/tutorial-how-to-root-sony-ericsson-xperia-x8/ )
How much is completely SAFE to overclock the x8 with alfs kernel and GDX rom?
About 760 mhz..dont set it on boot.
I dont recommend oc.shorter batery life.

It's kinda sad

It's sad to watch all these new ROM'S and kernel's here knowing you can't have them because u can't unlock your bootloader....
And ROM'S compactible with stock kernel are sometimes(70% of time)slow.
I've realized that now aftee getting motherboard with date number 12W03

Don't think I am complaining because I'm not,I just want to bring back a little development for stock kernel to show us,stock kernel users that we are not forgotten.
With this thread I am asking someone of you developers to make really lightweight, smooth ROM.
I know you are busy with developing for nAa or some other kernel but I think that other stock kernel user, will agree with me.
Sorry for your time and thanks for reading this!
Please don't tell that there are already plenty of good ROM'S for stock kernel user because there are not...no offense....I a just saying that most of them are slow and laggy

Well, stock is ungrateful and painful in development. I don't like to re-stock 50 times, root 50 times, put recovery etc. and still don't know what's going on because logcat doesn't even start. So I wouldn't expect so many ROMs.

No offense gogeta but 2.2 is not supported by some apps. 2.3.7 is supported by almost all apps. It is very stable. almost as fast 2.2 . Difference is there but not much if you don't go into specifics.

I love primeHD . it is flawless
Right now using minicm7 with Oxydo ZCF 04 kernel (nAa kernel has low battery life, I think )
my camera doesn't click photos. plz help.
The reason I switched from primeHD 10 was when I multitasking problem.
I use opera mini. I have unstable Wi-Fi connection. and when I put opera mini in background to connect again , I lose all websites in tabs. (at Max 1 or 2 ). If you know what fix for this, I can happily go back to primehd10.
Prime hd was my first rom on my x8 with naa kernel the most fastest rom... now i m using mini cm7 bcoz prime hd is older if its updated then it would be best rom ever for x8... i recommend u to try prime hd and mini cm7 and stick to any one....

It really depends on what you need.
2.2 is fastest, but it's really outdated. If you have a locked bootloader, then froyo may be your best choice.
2.3, though itself outdated, is still supported by many apps (though you can argue that most of those apps support 2.2 as well).
4.0, i can't say since i never liked ics and only tried a few roms for a bit.
4 1 is tye most updated android version we have right now. Some say it's too slow, but i personally don't think so. Our phone does have very limited ram, but you can either limit your apps installed, use a class 10 sdcard for swap (i prefer zram though), or add some tweaks.
For 2.2 i personally like froyobread and froyopro.
2.3 is gdx (dx's) and minicm 7.
For 4.1 i use yair's rom.
Edit: most people would say gb is the go-to rom regardless if you have a locked bl or not. I suggest you try gb first.
JB all the way for me
Best for X8
hie,
our X8 is a great device , our great developers have made all Android OS to run on it:good : .
but, according to my experience , x8 works best on GB(Android 2.3). its is very stable on GB . Froyo(Android 2.2) is also nice but nowadays there are many apps that require minimum android version of 2.3 . On the other hand ICS & JB(Android 4.0+) are great fr their looks and UI but our X8 just works on 600Mhz processor and 0.25gb ram, therefore JB is not stable and lags a lot on X8.
Conclusion:- You will get best performance and stability on GB for your X8.

Edit: most people would say gb is the go-to rom regardless if you have a locked bl or not. I suggest you try gb first.

hie,
our X8 is a great device , our great developers have made all Android OS to run on it:good : .
but, according to my experience , x8 works best on GB(Android 2.3). its is very stable on GB .

If you didn't get your phone 2nd-hand, you probably have a locked bootloader. Don't worry. There are roms for locked bootloaders. Personally, i prefer gingerdx for gb. Froyobread or froyopro for froyo. As long as you don't try to unlock your bootloader if your manufacturing date is 11w29 and up, then the risk is minimal. Search a little and you'll find guides on how to flash roms and/or unlock your bootloader. Good luck. Just read and search and you're safe.
As long as you don't hard brick your phone tryingvto unlock your BL OR flash a wrong kernel you should be safe. Just search a bit.
Here's a good place to start: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17378137
My advice is read, read, search, and understand.
