Hi guys,
When i make a call or recieve one on my galaxy s there is a faint electric buzzing noise in the earpiece, The noise is there even with different sims and in different locations.
My first galaxy s had this problem so i got it replaced however this one is making the same noise.
Is this a known problem with these phones or have i been unlucky and had 2 faulty phones, should i get it replaced again.

Hmmm... Ive had my SGS 1 for 8months + now, been around most of the UK with different sims also, Never had anything like that.
To be honest ive never heard of anything like that in the whole 10 months of being an XDA member...
I think you have just been unlucky TWICE !! perhaps you should send it back if its too much of a problem... Or trade it for the SGS 2
good luck
ok. thanks for that. i'll return it and get a replacement and see how that goes.

Hi, someone's having this problem too?
I bought my RAZR from Telcel... the call volume was clear and loud the first two months, i could hear the calls in and outside of an assembly plant (it's very noisy in my work) but now I can't make calls without a pair of earphones because it's now sounds too low from the earpiece...
I'm thinking about bringing my phone to my Carrier Customer Support to see if they change my phone to another one, or change the earpiece or whatever... i'm still paying for it.
If they want to charge me for the reparation or service i'm going to change the piece myself, but in ebay there's not parts available or is there compatible earpieces around... suggestions?

You have Motorola's international warranty and therefore the repair should not be the problem. As you describe symptoms it looks like the earpiece is broken. It is one of the most common failures among cellulars. I doubt that you'll find spare earpiece on the market though. The phone is relatively new and it is hard to get any replacement part. And why bother with repairment yourself if you could get it for free? Not mentioned that RAZR I has compact design and no approach to the interior is provided. You'll more likely damage it than repair it if you are not a professional...
Well... technically, I don't have any warranty from Motorola because i've unlocked the bootloader... i want it to send to my carrier customer service, but i dont have phone for backup and neither for microsim cards... and JB is out... oh well
hi was talking on the phone and all of a sudden i cant hear the other person.
However if i put the call on loud speaker i can hear the person on the phone.
So i tried changing the roms from tonys t build to pac rom, that didnt work so nvflashed the phone with progmaq nvflash and mic still aint working.
Unless someone can resolve my issue through a software change, am i able to repair this speaker? and if so roughly a cost and where (if in england) would be helpful.
Or is the phone best to be scraped or given to the kids to play with?
have you tried a headset??
the one that came with the phone....

Good idea mate
Just tried it and the sound works through headset so its 100% the top speaker has stopped working
Massive shame as with Tony's ROM the phones great
Looks like I will throw the phone away and just find a new one... Any suggestions?
Don't want s4 as I will break it in seconds build quality is crap.
Maybe a HTC one or Sony experia z?

I had the same problem, i think your ear speaker, not the LOUD ONE, the internal, is bad, try sending it to repair. mine was like yours, tech replaced the speaker and all was ok

I am having an issue with my standard htc one.
When i am on calls the person on the other end is saying that i sound very quite. I have had this with a couple of different people i have called.
The phone is a brand new replacement from o2.
I at first thought it was due to the case i have on the phone blocking the mic however having removed the case and tried another test call the problem is still there.
Any suggestions of what to try or why this is
anyone else had this?
thanks

Call your provider reps and get another new model...
Just had it replaced by o2 as the last one had a random vibrating and overheating issue.
Getting fed up with constantly having to change this one....seems to be one problem after another.
Any possible fix or cause?

no completely stock
the phone was purchased on o2 contract by a friend who then didnt like it/get on with it so i bought it off him. The phone i received had an issue with random vibrating so he returned it for a brand new replacement.
All i have done is unlocked the phone (by code) so i can use it on my network which is 3
it would seem that the htc one seems to be plagued with a number of different issues and no sooner than you manage to sort one out by exchanging it you end up with another problem!
Its getting very frustrating as i so want to like this phone....the first phones i had (bought sim free) had issues with captive buttons and build quality which led me to change back to an iphone.
After a couple of months decided to try the htc one again in the hope that all the early issues were resolved and here we are again with yet different problems.
i had this issue too, i think its related to Radio and Firmware,
just flash 2.24 and see if it fixes it, if not try ARHD 12.1 (With Wipe)

glad its not just me then, was yours an o2 one also?
really hope it can be sorted by firmware....can you tell me which firmware yo put on yours please..a link would be great
im guessing i have to unlock the bootloader and put a recovery and root again? i did this with the last one to try and resolve the random vibrating issue however that turned out to be a hardware problem
I have read some issue about problems with the mics on the phone just wish there was a way to be sure before flashing just in case i have to send it to htc to get sorted...would rather avoid sending away though
thanks for the help

just locked on my phone and it says the software is 2.24.206.1 so does this mean that it must be a hardware issue or is it still worth flashing something?
Hej, had the same problem and thought it would be the rom (cm-10.1-20130706-NIGHTLY-m7ul).
Well, it became apparent that it was the genuine HTC double flip case, who seemed to cover the micro just next to the micro usb connection.

thats why i thought it might be the case however the problem is the same with the case removed (poetic case) so dont think its that. I just dont want to unlock bootloader etc and risk messing up my return to htc if it is definatley a hardware issue.
Getting really annoying this now though as the rest of the phone is perfect, build, captive buttons, ear speaker etc
Yeah, seems to be a good idea not to mess around with roms while the device itself ain't running as it should.
Just had a look at the poetic case and the hole for the micro seems rather big, so it seems unlikely that this is the problem.
How about the hole being filled by like, dirt? Just had to think about my htc one. Sometimes the speaker grill is filled with some tobacco leftovers who float around in the same pocket as in which I put the phone. Even though it seems rather unlikely, no possibility should be left unregarded.

thanks again
i have considered the possibility of the mic hole being blocked although the phone is only a day old. I am pretty sure though that the phones supplied by o2 to replace faulty phones are actually reconditioned phones so it is possible that could be fluff or blocked, On looking it does seem that the hole for the mic is rather small and i am wondering if that in the machining process that maybe that holes is not opened up as much as it should be or is not clean....think i might try opening the hole abit using the sim ejecting tool or a pin. Just a bit concerned about the possibility of damaging the mic but then if it is faulty anyway then i guess i have nothing to lose.
will report back in a bit

i had 2.19 running 4.1.2 then i upgraded to 4.2.2 and 2.24 ARHD 12.1, the Proximity sensor is fixed and call quality has been improved but sometime it gets bad.
as for O2, i am running M7 unlocked (international)
here is the Link, just flash this ROM (Firmware, Radio, and OS is included) "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023"
Ok so I have tried to make the Mic hole bigger/clean it out and and first couple of test calls it seemed it improved it. However it seems almost now like the problem is intermittent as other calls have shown the problem to still be there, this is really getting frustrating now.
Can it really be software related? Is there anymore conclusive tests I can do to help identify the problem.

BUMPPPP!
I got this problem all of a sudden
Did you solve the problem op?
I've isolated my problem to the bottom mic, cause recording videos is mainly fine (guessing it records only with one of the mics now though) and when I put it on speakerphone it works. However when I take a normal call, or use gnow it doesn not really register. When I really yell it comes through softly.
People on the other side of the phone can't hear me well, I have a feeling something's stuck in my mic port
Thanks
I'm already getting my replacement from TMO but I wanted to ask how many people have had this problem before? The only way I was able to have a conversation was by putting the phone on speaker.

Just had my One back from repair yesterday with this exact same problem.
I also had a secondary issue with the touchscreen.
I love my One but I cannot believe the amount of problems I've had so far. First it was the camera now it's the mic. Before this I had the original galaxy and that last me for 3 years with no hitches.
Hi,
I have 2 Razr i.
One of them developped a sound problem. It's 3 months old.
The ear speaker volume is lower than the other and people complain they hear me like i speak in a can, with a bit of echo, and can't hear what i say.
Tried a factory reset of course, and i tried a sim card from a different carrier, same problem.
Any ideas ?

bring to the service center, maybe it's the hardware, ,,
Yes it's probably the hardware...
But i have no service center near me, in canada they don't support razr i, and i bought it on ebay.
So i'm probably better to try to repair it myself !
