[Q] G1 T-mobile stuck at start screen - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need help please..
*This is the title of the method im referring to --> " Beginners GUIDE:Rooting a HTC Dream(T-Mobile G1) and Installing CYANOGENMOD 6 (FROYO)"
I've gone through the process until part (III) step 10. But then i did a wrong step by jump onto step 14 instead of continue with step 11.
Now my hp cannot go to recovery mode/bootloader after i go through the step 16. Even if i reboot normally it stuck on "G1 T-mobile"
Home+End key and camera+End key does not make any difference, still got me stuck on G1 T-mobile.
can someone tell me what should i do?

Do you get it to boot into the bootloader?
(* Press and hold the camera key, then press the soft reset button. *)
If so, you can try to use it and apply the original firmware.

It seems I get into bootloader 4 bars (red, green, blue and white)
Red: IPL 1.01.0001
SPL 1.01.0001
If I attach a USB kabel it says USB in the white bar
But where can I find de original firmware an how can I get it on the system.
i saw your other two threads about flashing from sd.
heres the thing. you need to use the RUU for your device. It depends on who you purchased your device from. If you have an HTC branded device, you will need the appropriate RUU etc etc...
heres the link. make sure you choose the right one.

[Q] Noob needing help! Stuck at Boot menu after swaping motherboards

I bought these two heros because one was beat up and was new.
Beat up one:
Had a clean esn but a bad body
New one:
Clean body but had a bad esn
So i had a guy swap the mother board from "the beat one" to the "new one"
and now the screen is stuck at the boot screen. Every once in a while it will restart after about 5-10 minutes.
So my question is what do i do??? where do i go to fix this?
is there anyway to master restart it to be normal?
help please! thank youuu!!!
Anyone with any thoughts or ideas? please help!
Wow, I think you went about this the wrong way - I would have personally pulled the clean esn from the old phone and put it on the new phone with the bad esn....
But either way - can you boot into recovery?
This is interesting
How do you pull a good esn into a bad one?
try and ruu first

How do you boot it into recovery?
i read how a bunch of post about master restarting it by
holding the 'home' and 'back key' then pressing the 'power button' once
then clicking the 'center button' but that didnt work.
With the phone powered off, press and hold the home key and turn the phone on. After a few seconds, you should either see a recovery menu, or a picture of a phone with an exclamation point. If it's the phone with an exclamation point, you don't have custom recovery.

Nothing happens its stuck on the HTC boot screen
Try this..
You need to turn the phone off and while it is off hold the volume up button. While holding it down press the power (end call) button. If a screen comes up we can help fix your phone.
yeaah a screen came up!!!!!!!
it says
<vol down> Hboot mode
<menu> reset device
<action> restart to HBoot
where do i go from here?

do you know where to go from here?
Read everything before downloading anything
RUU-ftp://hero:[email protected]/HTC%20Sprint%20Hero%20MR%202.27.651.6.exe
HTC Sync-http://member.america.htc.com/download/Driver/HTC%20Hero%20(Sprint)/HTC_Sync_2.0.40.exe
Android SDK- http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
This is assuming you are running windows.
Download the RUU on your computer. Run the file and follow the directions.
I am not sure if the RUU will install the drivers needed or not. If not, then download HTC sync and install. If at anytime it asks to connect your phone boot into fastboot (volume up and power). Then run the RUU.
If these fail download the Android sdk and follow the steps from their site. We will have to go a different route
I subscribed to the post so I will be notified immediately if you post something.
It failed to install the Sdk. do i just go ahead and try to run the RUU?
or if not im on the website
im downloading the Sdk right now
okay i downloaded everything and when i go on the andriod SDK it fails to download Android sdk

...you don't "install" the SDK. It's a zip files that contain needed tools for commands such as ADB.
Have you attempted to put the phone in Fastboot Mode and running the RUU? I've always found that to do the trick for picky phones.
Try running the RUU first. If it does not work you will need to unzip the android sdk to your c:\ drive. (c:\android-sdk)
But first I would try running the RUU and try and get the phone working

Help me please!!!!

Can you still boot into fastboot ? (remove battery if needed to power off, put it back , hold back button and press power )
no i cant. i cannot boot into any menus.
you cant boot into fastboot or into recovery?
sorry man..... brick. at least as far as i could think.
the wiki says theres a way to fix it, does anyone know who wrote it? maybe i could contact them?
Seriously? So you can't access adb/fastboot shells from your computer?
Fastboot is not a menu you access, You need to have the android-sdk setup on your computer, and need to reboot your phone into fastboot:
Take out the battery.
Put battery back in.
Hold the Back Button
Press power button and continue to hold back button.
Device should boot into bootloader, and if you have the right spl fastboot will be enabled.. (i believe thats correct)
Also, did you flash the wrong radio and then continue to flash spl?
If so, your device is bricked. But if you only flashed the radio and it's compatible with your spl you should be ok.
dude, send me your phone, im a professional repair man , i'll even fix it for free XD
The fix way of doing it you may find hard lol but it's called JTAG ^^ read on cyanogenmod wiki
where would i have to send it out too? and some type of insurance would be nice but id possibly be willing to send it out

Stuck after data factory reset.

I'm running streak droid honeycomb. I did a factory data reset through the settings menu and the device reboooted, appeared to be resetting but no I'm stuck on a screen with the android character and a triangle with a red exclamation.
I rooted and installed this so long ago that I'm lost. I mostly mess around with my phone. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
Did you try to get into recovery after charging it? You could reflash that way or nvflash it again.
But WHY THE RUM?!!!
Follow the instructions here:
Streak 7 Flashing Guide
to get into Recovery Mode. Then select option 3; "Factory Reset (User data and Internal tablet storage".
That'll get you back to bone stock assuming all you really did was root it. Done this a bunch of times. It'll work.

I hope it's alright I jump in...as I have the same problem. Stock HoneyComb 3.2 not rooted. Would boot up fine, but was unable to get into recovery or fastboot so performed a factory reset through privacy setting and now stuck on the logo. I was (don't know now able to see connect using nvflash but unable to locate any clear instructions on how to flash a ROM (either a new one or stock). Hence the factory reset.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

NVFlash back to 2.2 using this link: http://d-h.st/iXc
After that using its stock recovery, using the factory Update.pkg, update to HC again. All can be found using links from this starting page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Dell_Streak_7

Thanks wptski.
Using nvflash I got back to 2.2 but the problem remains that I can't boot into either stock recovery or fastboot in order to install an update.pkg.
I can connect in AXP mode but haven't found any instructions of how I can use it to perform an update or install a custom recovery. It's a problem on the tablet - all the drivers are installed on pc and I've never had any problem in the past, as long as I could get the phone into recovery or fastboot. The symptoms are soft keys light up, battery light flashes 4-5 times and then it shuts down. I can boot up normally into 2.2
I should probably find another forum for my 'new'/old problem...as I'm not stuck at Dell logo anymore :silly:

Okay, to get into the stock recovery and /or Fastboot mode you are holding the up/down volume button and the power ON button at the same time, correct? It does take a 2-3 seconds for either to come up on the screen.
You can't installing anything from APX mode or get into recovery mode from it either.

Correct re: stock recovery/fastboot - lights flash shuts down. I can get into APX mode, that's how I got 2.2 on it. I can't find instructions though on how to do anything else with APX - like get into recovery mode The link giveen provided me in another post has a prewritten batch file I used - so my thanks goes to the author.

Have you tried to NVFlash 2.2 again? From your other post, you were on 3.2 before so I'd retry the NVFlash again, at least. It seems that you got into stock recovery mode before so the buttons did work before although I have heard of them getting stuck with both ON.

Thanks so much for your help wptski!
I re -nvflash'd 2.2 with the same result....successful flash and can boot into OS. Still unable to get into stock recovery or fastboot. The buttons don't feel stuck - but? Can I use nvflash to get anything other than 2.2 on to it? This all started with wanting nothing more than a 'simple' root Since I"m broken, any chance I can use nvflash to to get TWRP and ICSB4 on it - nothing to lose at this point
Another thought: would moving to a linux machine open up more possibilities?

Here's a test to see if your buttons are stuck since you have the NVFlash drivers installed, with the S7 OFF just plug into your PC, if you hear the normal audio sound when you plug in something into your USB port, they are stuck. Not sure if it would boot normally with stuck buttons.

Please help me unbrick my phone

EDIT: I accidently posted this in the wrong forum. Im have the international version, not Verizon!
I've been trying to get CM10 on my phone and somehow i messed everything up and now i can ONLY get into download mode.
Im trying to follow this guide to get back to stock:
I. Before You Begin
This will only work using a Windows machine.
This will only work on the T-Mobile US version and versions from outside the US. Do NOT use this on AT&T or Verizon versions.
II. Install the Drivers
Download the LG ADB Drivers and install them (if you don’t already have them installed from the rooting procedure you used).
III. Download the Necessary Files
Download the stock firmware for you specific device here and save it to your desktop (look for it in step 1 of the original post and make sure to choose the firmware file for your specific device version).
Download the LG Mobile Support Tool to your desktop, install it, and then close it once it opens automatically.
Download the FlashTool to your desktop (it’s the .zip file after clicking on that link).
IV. Unroot the LG G2
Turn off the G2 by holding down the power button and keeping it held down until the screen goes black, then continue to hold it for a few seconds after it goes black to make sure it shut down.
Plug the G2 into the computer via the USB cable while holding Volume Up at the same time to put it into download mode.
Right-click the FlashTool .zip file and select Extract All.
Double-click UpTestEX.exe from inside the newly extracted folder.
In the R&D Test Tool window, select the following for each option listed:
Select Type – 3GQCT
PhoneMode – DIAG
Select KDZ file – Click this and select the .kdz file we downloaded in the previous section.
Click Normal web upgrade test.
Click Upgrade Start in the new popup window that appears.
Select Republic of Korea and English for the Country and Language window that appears after that.
Click OK.
When it finished flashing and is all done, turn off the phone and then turn it back on by holding down Power and Volume Down until a screen comes up.
Select Reset (this will finish erasing everything off the device and bringing it back to stock).
Click to collapse
I get to step where i click upgrade start but i dont get any window where im supposed to select language.
Instead LG Mobile Support Tool starts up and nothing happens.
I dont understand what im doing wrong. Please help me. :/

Have you tried updating the united device drivers?
Sent from my VS980 4G
Do you still have a custom recovery? This happened to me, the same thing actually!
What I had to do was hold Volume Down and Power button until the LG logo shows up, then release ONLY the Power button while still holding the Volume Down button, then press the Power button again.
Or if this doesn't work,
Turn off phone, then when off, hold down power and volume down button until it reaches the LG logo and then release both buttons and hold it down again.
You will see a screen that says something like: Hard reset/ factory reset. Just follow the steps stated on screen until it boots you into recovery.
For me it took me to my recovery screen, where I just flashed a older ROM onto it. I then later flashed a recovery file.
It does take me a few times to get into that.
If that doesn't work, I don't know.
Thank you,
Stephen

Praise Jesus for this...I about had a heart attack. I have been rooting and installing custom ROMs since the G1...never had any issues. Was in a boot loop and could not get back into recovery for anything.
Nothing!
I rooted then attempted to installl TWRP... the phone turned off then turned on with the android ! icon... it shut off a few mins later. Now, all I get is the buzz and a black screen. LG Mobile Support Tool nor my computer will even recognize the device. Am I truly bricked beyond repair?
