Action button is the middle of the optical joypad.
to reflash connect from your computer with a USB cable and use the Custom Radio RUU
AND DO NOT GO AROUND FLASHING THINGS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!
Thanks a lot for fast response!!!
I was flashing one of the Radio ROMs here in the thread, that was in the list as worked, maybe it was transfer failure to MicroSD card, now it don't matter.
I power now Xperia on, then see that 4-color screen, then now i see kovsimg.nbh- RADIO and "Press power button to start update image" and "Press action button to cancel update image". If i press the middle of optical joystick-as you said-then it happens nothing-i see the same screen...What schould i do????
This is the "n" time I write this:
Remove and reinsert battery
Turn phone on
Now you are out of bootloader

Strange for you, but well known phenomena: your flash didn't complete
You'll have to flash again from a PC or by copying a new radio file to your microSD card, or you can use "mtty"... sorry there's no other way but reaching a PC

you can't access the sd-card without a Cardreader but you dont have to. In the 4-color screen you should see the text "USB" when you connect the phone to the pc (as far as I remember, when the device is not connected to the pc instad of "USB" the text is "SERIAL"). In that mode you can use the RUU to update your device.
Mastermarv,
thank you very much!!!I was worked for me-i was using RUU Radio utilities in bootloader mode and flashed orig. Radio ROM-now it all started OK and all work again!!!!!Uf-f-f,so one "abenteuer"...
Thank you all the people, those tried to help me in this situation, much appreciated your help!!!!
Now i can some relax...

i turn on my phone with the power button on the top.
i used kid dc's extravagent rom 4.1.
hope this helps?
my dilemma is now accessing the sd card
and yes i have hard spl on there
i've flashed plenty of times before, this time i think it was just a bad rom.
Hello!

This should be help.

With the phone off, try to do a hardreset: Hold down the two silver buttons directly under the screen, while holding them down push the power button, you should then be presented with a screen that asks you to press "R" to reset your device....so go ahead and flip open the keyboard and press "R", when it completes it will ask you to press "Spacebar" to restart the device.

Hey
I used cwm to install Darkys Rom 10.2, it said successfully installed unfortunately when I reboot it shows the at&t logo and then goes back to the recovery menu. I tried installing it a second time same result. When I try to go into download mode using these methods
"2. The Power + Volume Down Method: If the phone doesn't display the "phone-exclamation mark-computer" picture on power up:
Remove and replace the battery.
Hold the Volume Down button while pressing the power button until the "Download Mode" picture displays. Then release the buttons.
3. If the phone is "semi-bricked"; i.e., the "phone-exclamation mark-computer" picture appears on power up (perhaps from a bad ROM flash):
Be sure the Samsung USB drivers for the phone are installed on your computer.
Remove and replace the battery.
Connect the phone to the computer with the USB cable. The "phone-exclamation mark-computer" picture should display on the phone's screen.
Hold the Volume Up+Volume Down+Power buttons down simultaneously. The screen should go blank, then the picture should appear again. When the screen goes blank a second time, release the Power button while continuing to hold the Volume Up+Volume Down buttons down.
4. If the phone does not allow you to go into Download mode after trying the aforementioned steps above you can try this method to "force" it into download mode:
Be sure the Samsung USB drivers for the phone are installed on your computer.
Remove the Battery, SIM Card, and any External SDCards.
With the Battery removed plug the USB into your phone.
While holding both the Up+Down Volume button and the USB is plugged into your phone - put the battery back into the back of the phone. You should see the Download mode screen pop up.
If you see the Powered Off Charging screen - attempt the above steps again."

it never goes into download mode, it simply shows an image of a battery. After a while it goes into recovery mode.
Any idea what I can do? I am still able to get into CWM, is there any way for me to get another ROM file in there so that I can try flashing another?
I tried putting in an external SD card but I can't browse it to use other rom files
If anyone has any suggestions I'd be very grateful
Thanks

In CWM, go to mounts and storage to mount your SD card and put another ROM on. Also, Darky 10.2 REQUIRES lagfix for data AND system which could be your problem now. Enable them if not and reflash

Last night I flashed the latest CM7 nightly and everything was running fine until I tried flashing this kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982337
Now when my phone turns on it goes into the Phone--!--PC screen for about 10 seconds then the Cyanogen boot screen comes on and loops. I can't get into download mode or recovery no matter what button combos I try. I've looked around and I think I need a jig but I haven't read anything about the looping boot screen. Is there any hope for my phone or do I need to make/buy a jig?

Your just stuck in a boot loop. Phone! Computer is actually the kernel splash for that kernel. Pull the battery, give it a minute, put the battery back in, and hold the 3 button combo until you see the att screen, then release the buttons.

I tried this and it still goes to the Phone!Computer screen after I release the buttons. no matter what I try I can't get odin to recognize my phone. whatever button combos I try with my phone connected to my computer I hear it connect when it's on the Phone!Computer screen then I hear it disconnect right before it goes to the boot screen.
also when I plug my phone in while it's powered off the loading circle thing comes up like it does when it's charging but instead of the battery indicator is just shows the Phone!Computer screen.
See if Odin recognizes the phone-!-computer screen as a type of dl screen, letting you flash from there.
Connery it to kies and repair samsung kies then when kies opens go to install drivers then jig to download mode and flash as norma

I already told you that odin wont recognize my phone no matter what I do. I already bought the resistors for a jig so now I guess I have to cut a usb cable open.

odin will now recognize your phone
First problem your having is the Le Kernel DeJour (Escapist Kernel) hasn't been supported in a long time and as far as I have read any of the other cm7 kernels that are available right now are not working with the newest nightlies. The other kernels are having the same problem and causing a bootloop. There is some beta kernels that you will have to get from IRC for the Glitch Kernel. But I will show you how to fix your issue if you have a external SD card that you can take out of your phone and plug it into the computer, transfer the file I will link and place it on the external SD card.
1. Okay plug in your external SD card into a computer (or transfer the linked file onto the external SD card)
2. Link to the stock cm7 kernel #126 which will install and not wipe your data and only wipe cache and dalvich cache
http://db.tt/LZJqu1hd
This will install and get you out of your bootloop.
4. Power off you phone and insert the external SD card back into phone
5. Hold down the volume+ and volume - buttons along with the Peer button until you see the art screen come up. Let go of the power button and then the volume buttons. You should now go into RECOVERY MODE.
6. Install zip from SD card, choose zip from SD card, navigate to the file you uploaded CM7RevertKernel#126
7. Click on it and choose to install.
8. Should now boot you back into the cm7 rom. If this helps hit the Thanks button, if you have a problem shoot me a pm.

Hi
I have Captivate I897 at&t
Two days ago I successfully installed Cyanogen 7.1 and I used the phone for some calls and some phone poweron/poweroff with any problem.
Today I copied on sd card the gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip for some google apps and I used Rom manager and clockwork (version 3.0.0.5) for reboot recovery.
BIG PROBLEM
Any recovery/download mode has appeared!
Only cyanogen mod logo HANG during startup, tried many times and same issue.
Any solution found for enter recover/download mode working for me, no combination of buttons work.
How I can unbrick my Captivate?
Greetings from italy (or what remains of it)

remove battery, hold volume + and volume -, then insert battery and plug in cable to computer. this should put you in download mode.
If that does not work, grab a heimdall or Odin one-click from the development forums and flash it.

Might be kinda hard to use Odin or Heimdall if you can't get in to DL mode.
OP, what Boot Loaders are you using? If you are on I9000 BL's then you need to pop out the battery and replace. Hold down (Volume-Down) and hit the power button. Then you can plug it up to the computer and use Odin or Heimdall. If it's I897 BL's then you do as Adam stated above. If that doesn't work try it again without the SIM card or the SD card. If it still doesn't work you'll need to make/buy a JIG and force it.
