Re: Battery life
Hi all
went on holiday last week and decided to run a little battery life test.
I removed the sim card (as i didnt want to be charged for roaming etc), turned wifi off and gps and didnt use it at all apart from an alarm clock. left it fully charged and by the 6th day i still hadnt charged it and it had 45% battery life left. I was amazed.
Then on return to the UK i put it back into the state i use it in and within 6 hours the battery had gone from 100% to 0%.
Just proves that battery life can be extended if you dont use your phone
There is no reason for this post just thought i would share my findings
Cheers
try CM7 , I'm getting 1,5 day normal usage, on stock only ~8 hours
pretty sure battery life not durable in stock rom in normal usage 3g
maybe you must remove application you not use

Hi All;
I have a Modaco's custom ROM (the latest) installed on my Tattoo and I noticed one issue.
Of course, I am not sure if this has been caused due to my custom rom or otherwise, but has anyone notice the ever reducing battery backup capacity in your tattoo's ??
If I charge my mobile to full capacity in the morning, by the time it is evening, the battery charge level drops to yellow and by late night, I get a warning that 15% battery is remaining.
I am connected to internet all day, either through w-lan, or through edge.
Of course, I tried enabling power save mode for w-lan and quite a few other tricks, all of no avail.
So, has anyone observed the same problem before ? If so, how did you solve it ?
Thanks
Shyam
Its normal for the battery to be drained if you are connected all day. Try turning the WiFi and Mobile Networks off and then confirm how long it lasts. My guess it'd double the time..almost
I have same problem as Shyamk
i've also noticed slightly higher battery drain when using modaco custom rom
"If I charge my mobile to full capacity in the morning, by the time it is evening, the battery charge level drops to yellow and by late night, I get a warning that 15% battery is remaining."
i find this hard to believe! i've fully charged my phone last night. woke up at 7AM and at 4PM pluged in the charger.I'm using stock ROM.
Removed modaco's rom and installef fyodor's rom. Surprise, the battery seems to last longer.
Fully charged in the morning, continuous internet usage all day, and battery is still green ;-)
Shyam
Using custom modaco ROM here...
No problems at all with battery drain.
Cheers
No battery drain issues too with modaco.
You have to know that when you're on a place which has a poor signal strengh, your phone will use many battery to keep the connexion alive...
Recently I bought a cheap battery which is obviously from china.
And it looks like the original HTC battery with the same black colour.
On first use it came with 80% charge level . I used the battery until it drained . It lasted the same as my original worn out battery of 6 months at the same percentage (maybe due to old batt stats in the is)
the following charge cycles( full drain and full charge)
First full charge cycle -battery only charged to 72%.
2nd cycle - battery charged to 75%
3rd cycle -battery charged to 83%.
one of the major difference is that with this battery, the phone shows that red juice cylinder , when it starts charging from 0%. Something I didn't saw with the original HTC battery after mango beta .
The first 2 cycles the battery exhibited the rapid drain symptom after plugging off the charger .
after the 3rd cycle it does not have this behavior and drained normally.
After this 3rd cycle the battery indicator was stuck at 80%. Used the phone for 3g browsing for 30 mins . Restarted the phone and it showed 91%. Used till 77% and charged the phone to 100%
At this time the battery is doing great . Will do another cycle a few days later to see how it goes.
In between these charges I had some small partial charges.
So far the battery now holds better and able to surf continuously on 3g for 40 mins and its at 90%, WiFi off , location on ,bt off ,battery saver on ,
the funny thing is that it is like the same quality original HTC battery .
is is mango with latest firmware update.
there are some problems with the original HD7 HTC battery.
mine did not last long before it died.
HTC needs to do QA on its batterires. They are the worst ever used
I recently (two days ago?) had a big 3500mAh battery arrive which i ordered from the internet, i paid about £14 for it. I've noticed it's a little weird in terms of performance, and i'm not sure if that's anything to do with the HD7 software side, or if i've just been ripped off.
3500mAh is ~3x the capacity of the stock HD7 battery so i was expecting charging times to be way, way longer but also for my phone to last a good deal longer too, but i've just been seeing major inconsistencies. My new battery would charge and discharge faster than the stock one that came with my phone, it'd stick on 99% charging, it's really confusing.
At the moment, it seems to be behaving itself with 56% time since last charge 15 hours, time remaining 9 hours. I have reason to suspect that when you use a new battery that the battery information Windows Phone 7/7.5 provides is WILDLY inaccurate, and it might take some time for the software to get used to the new battery.
I'm not sure, i'm just finding batteries really confusing!

try using a custom rom, the battery usualy lasts longer. the sdcard tweak works well . i beleive its a prblem with how wp7 OS handles the sdcard power management
i beleive the OS uses power consumption vs power capacity to judge the gauge. also u whenever u full charge the battery , u need to let it rest for a few hours. so ideally every evening u get home, charge it to 100 % from whatever is left with and unplug from the charger immediately after full. leaving it ont he charger whole night seems to drain it when u take it out fromt he charger next morning and start using it.
try using this app battery discharger ( free ) from the marketplace: it calibrated my battery well
when its close to dying like 20%, just run this app , and fully drained, charge full again
now my battery last 30+ hours on idle. i am not sure if yr 15 hours is correct on that size u have ,

yep i agree, the original HTC batteries seem to be worst than the cheap aftermarket versions
Hi,
So I bought an Anker 1800mah battery about two months ago, thought that would improve battery life.
Thing is, even though I own the I9000 a very long time, I don't know how battery life should be.
So my question is...
For example, if I have data and GPS on and screen on, is it normal that I get 1% drain every 1.5-2 minutes?
Using ICS CM9.

Turn gps off and set brightness to around 20%. You should then lose 1% roughly every 3:30 - 4:00 minutes.
Weird I lose 1% every 10 min sometimes more

Hi all,
First, from what I remember, my old battery acted somewhat the same. Also, I used it for a year and a half, and have totally destroyed it because of all the calibrations. By a calibration I mean draining the battery to 0%, charging to 100%, doing it about 3-4 times... Only later I have learned that it is not healthy to the battery to do that so many times. That's why I only did this 3 times with my new battery (Manufacturer instructions).
Now, thing is, I gave the example with the data and GPS on and screen on because I used GPS for navigations a lot of times. So, I can't turn off GPS. About the brightness, its set to automatic all the time, so I see no reason to modify it myself.
I'm currently using CM9 Blueberry edition but I'm planning to change to JB in a few days. Even though I doubt it, any chance battery life will improve with JB?
Latrop, with the same settings? Having data + GPS + screen on all the time (10 min)? Are you sure?
Mine did not sure bout yours

Just wanting to see what mods/apps you all are using to get the best battery life and performance out of your s5 I'm currently using
Rom: DynamicKat 2.0
Greenify with boost on
DS battery saver custom profile
Lux auto brightness
I'm getting a benchmark of 37000
And I'll attatch a ss of my current battery, i normally go 5-6 hours before I'm below 20% but I'm over 4 now and still above 60%
How much screen on time are you getting? 4&1/2 hours on battery and already down to 64% doesn't seem very good. I'm getting much longer times than that. I'm on Stock Rom, rooted, running Greenify.
same here, i get pretty good life. on very low use day, about 2.2%/hour. on heavy usage about 3-4%/hour. 4%/hour = about 20 hours give or take (gotta figure that screen on time is going to make it less than the actual maximum %/hr)
some days im at about 40% when i get done with my day, others im at like 55%. but still its from about 9am to 12:30am, about 16 hours-ish.
before i bought my zerolemon 8500 battery. i tested stock battery and for every 1 of screen on time, that would be 25% of the battery on stock.is that good or bad?

I keep my screen on pretty much all day it's very rare that I go 30 minutes without it being on
Battery life
By the end of a work day, my battery is usually around 50-60%. On weekends I don't recharge it at all, including this last 3-day weekend. It was at 43% Monday night. I never turn it off, I check it often as I get a lot of email.
I am running Dynamic Kat, just upgraded to 3.0. I use no apps to extend battery life. I turn off my wifi when I go to bed, turn it back on when I get up. Note that I NEVER turn data on.
Hi I rooted my phone a few weeks ago hoping fir better battery and performance when needed but every since tge battery calibration has been messed up, for example earlier I was using my phone to music through ear phones and looking through Facebook (using 4g) it said I had 73% battery left but then died, phone was charged to 100% over night and only had about 35 mins of actual on screen time.
Ive tried many different battery calibration apps but none work.
Sometimes when the battery completely discharges and turns off and I plug in the charger it wilk give me the actual battery % but when I turn on the phone it will say 40% even though its actually only 12%
Should I use a different rom? Can someone recommend me one for my c6903 please
