[Q] HD7 Automatic Time Updating doesn't work? (O2 UK) - HD7 General

Hi
Has anyone else in the UK who is on the O2 network find that their automatic time updating doesn't actually work?
I'm running the latest official NoDo build installed via Zune if it makes any difference.

I'm sure the network has to support it.
I turned it off ever since the WM6 days, when I turned it on but it managed to change to the wrong time by about 4.5hrs, and made me sleep in for work.

LOL, that's not good elyl!
Bit cack if O2UK don't support auto time updating though...
Anyone else on O2UK managed to get this working?
Sent from my HD7 T9292 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App

Just tried the same O2 SIM in my HTC desire and HD7, switching off network time altering the time and switching network time back on, on the Desire resulted in the time getting correctly set on reboot, repeated on my HD7 running Mango 7712.60 and the time stayed set at the incorrect time.
I'd say O2 supports setting the time, just not with the HD7

Thanks Frontieruk, I thought I was going nuts!

How to fix Radio (3G) not working (voice calls, data)

My original HTC (Radio 1.27.12.11) never was able to recieve or create voice calls via 3G nor do any data transfer. Only GSM mode was working, but then for what reason I was going for the Kaiser ?.
Thanks to Pof's work on the HardSPL tool and Dark Simpsons "htc rom tool" and all others contributed to this tools, using the posted french ROM with Radio 1.27.12.17 and the rest from the original HTC rom I compiled a new ROM image.
With this Radio rom I just confirmed that 3G is now working using voice and data. All former 3G problems are gone.
Steps:
- Downloaded original HTC rom and French rom
- Using "NBHextract.exe" to extract the rom components.
- Using the "00_unkonwn.nb" from the french and the rest from the original HTC rom and compile using "htc rom tool" a new rom.
- Now using HARD SPL to install new boot loader and then just transfer the new rom using the original HTC upgrade package with the new rom instead the original one.
Regards

Just replace the rom in the HTC_WWE rom-installer with this one. Worked for me without any problems with Kaiser got from UK, but no warrenty
http://rapidshare.com/files/61052345/RUU_signed_WWE_1.56.405.5_22.45.88.07_1.27.12.17.zip
Update: After 24h using 1.27.12.17, problems just partly vanished
Looks like it was a bit too optimistic. Here are the results of 24h usage:
-3G voice and data are sometimes working. With the 1.27.12.11 it never worked with 1.27.12.17 it work for some calls / times and then 3G still looks like logged into the 3G-Network, but phone is unreachable. The phone needs to be switched off/on again to get it working. Then one call / data connection / incoming call is possible. After that darkness again. At least one 3G action is possible in comparion to earlier radio rom, but it is still far away from perfect.
It is an improvement but HTC has still to do a better job with the radio rom. Hope we will get an update soon behind 1.27.12.17

thanks, I'll give it a try in a few days.... as to warrenty - HTC appears not to honor warrenties, HTC US said "not our problem", HTC UK has not answered in over a week....
If yo can live with french try the french rom
... now I run for 24h with the french rom, no customization.
It is better then the HTC with the replaced Radio, posted above. I can call 3G, do data connections and receive incoming calls. It seems after 24h pretty stable. Therefore it looks like changing the radio is not enough and that as the french rom using a slightly newer OS then HTC original, there are some changes too included.
- Problem: Roaming between GSM and 3G, somtimes the phone needs 5 or more minutes to login into the network again after areas with no coverage. Completly different to the Nokia N95, which can handle such issues with no problem @ all
- About HTC service. I called them too and they tried to direct my to a service partner I should pay for getting my problems solved, that is very different to what I understand about warrenty too.
I would be really thankful for anyone who could produce a Radio-only flash available using the French .17 Firmware.
The stock .11 radio ROM is completely, I mean really completely useless for me. Any time I try to write a SMS, make a phone call or data connection my Kaiser immediately loses the connection to the network and I have wait for the phone to reconnect itself. I also cannot receive any incoming calls.
I remember that the first radio ROMs for the Hermes were terrible but this is even worse. Too bad because I'm really enjoying the rest of my Kaiser so far.
It is not only the french radio rom .17 ..
I have done lots of test and added above a rom HTC with french .17 radio stack. But there is more then then just the radio. It is better with the mixed rom, but still not good to use it as a reliable phone.
Best what you can do is using the french rom and you get a 50% chance that 3G works incoming and outgoing.
I'm rather new to creating my own cooked ROMs so I'm right to think if I want to upgrade my Kaiser to the .17 Radio ROM, the only thing I need to do is create a .nbh file from "02_Unknown.nb" and flash the resulting nbh file using CustomRUU and my Kaiser will not be completed formated?
I'm asking this because my Kaiser is now perfectly configurated and personalized and I don't want restart install all my programs, I just want to try the new Radio ROM because the current version is completely useless.
Thanks for any info
well disregard my previous post, I just successfully flashed my Kaiser with the new Radio ROM and hopefully I will actually be able to call someone with my PDA phone.
Hi all, first I have to say that I'm in Dublin Ireland using vodafone and have my kaiser for about 3 weeks now and the most odd thing about that would be that it has been working fine 3G and 3.5G when within good coverage. All of a sudden last sunday it just stopped working with 3G I believe that network provider just changed something with its settings but I can't be sure. I would love to see a radio update soon but since I don't believe in miracles I've been trying some temporary workaround just to be able to call and text. It seems that it enough to go to settings -> phone -> network and set the BAND TO GSM. This way it doesn't use 3G but at least I can use the phone. Hope it could help anyone there.
Thanks for the info, I'll try that eventhough the .17 Radio Update did improve network connection somewhat but it's still subpar.
FYI, I was last Saturday in Dublin, eventhough only for an hour, and of course I tried my Kaiser but the 3G data connection completely refused to work. This was when I still had my .11 Radio ROM installed.
So far I have tried my Kaiser in London, Malpensa, Madrid and Berlin so the issue seems to be rather ROM related than provider related.
you're right, it has nothing to do with the provider I was wrong. I took my card from Era Poland with roaming and turned on my Kaiser. On O2 I had two bars on HSDPA and that beautiful H letter on the top of the screen but not possible to make a call, send sms or whatever. Switching to gsm always works. I upgraded to .17 and it looks exactly the same as it was I see no difference at all. The only thing that bothers me at the moment is that for me it's been working fine for some time. I've been using 3g in Dublin and Warsaw as well and for some reason it just stopped I just hope it's not any hardware issue.
Is this rom posted on #1 a radio only or the whole thing?
I have the same problem over here. I have the Tytn2 for one month now. I had vacation and i took the plane at Amsterdam (Schiphol) to Tenerife.
When i arrived in Tenerife i get a 3G icon and cannot make calls and cannot internet. I had manually switch to GSM band. Now back in Holland with auto-settings i have the same problem again. With 3G i can do nothing (call/internet). Anyone any idea?
I have a vodafona abbo, my simcard in the old tytn1 with same settings works well at 3G. Soon i call with htc!
Same problem here with HTC Tytn II in Holland on T-mobile,
switched 3G to GSM and luckely I can use the phone now,
but I really hope there will be a fix soon!
Thanks!
Same on AT&T
I'm having the same problem with my tilt. I had the 3G before the flash but have not had it since.
same her in nyc ...tried both radios....3g doesnt work....help....please
A hard reset does NOT fix the 3G call/internet problem
When i switch the telephoneband from auto to GSM the phone get's connected at G and i can call. But i want videocall.
Please someone ? Defect or waiting for rom ?
I too am experiencing this problem. It happened overnight one night -- 3G will not connect -- neither voice or data, but GSM (edge) works fine.
I'm on ATT, HardSPL with Schaps 4.22 rom. It was working fine in this configuration, then suddenly stopped. Tried Hard reset (no help), and tried upgrading the radio to .17 (also no help). Next step is to try and revert to original ROM/Radio/Bootloader (per "how to restore to factory for rma thread") to see if that helps.
If anyone comes up with a solution, I'd be grateful.

O2 XDA Stellar Corporate Software Install?

Hi,
I should be getting my XDA Stellar tomorrow, I currently have a mini S and was just wondering wether there is an option to do a corporate install on the Stellar (removing all the O2 crap) like there was on the mini S.
Any Ideas?

When I started up my Stellar for the first time it just loaded the O2 custom stuff by default - don't think there was a way to stop it. You'll probably need to investigate how you change the ROM.
I'm in the process of trying to understand how this works from reading here but not confident enough I do understand it yet to even think about attempting it.
I loaded TomTom Nav 6 the other day & that seems to work well although it did completely freak at one point meaning all I got on the screen was the Tom Tom splash screen - even after a soft reset.
Managed to unload it & reload it & all has been OK since although yesterday the GPS went mental - couldn't find more than one or two satellites & at one point it was telling me I was somewhere out in the atlantic off the coast of France! (I was in my house near London at the time )
Overall I think its a good device. I just want to figure out how I can get it to default to using the available Wifi connection when I'm in the house rather than heading straight for a GPRS connection when I run Internet Explorer.
Anyone else?
How hard would it be to install a HTC ROM if I can't remove the O2 software?
Are there any benefits to having the O2 ROM as oppoes to the HTC ROM and Vice Versa?

I'd guess the O2 rom has some "bloat-ware" in it & it'll also contain all the settings you need for GPRS access, voicemail etc that it will program into the device for you.
I think O2's "Today" screen is a bit of a mess to be honest.
When you first start the thing up there is a 3-5 second delay after initial setup before it then runs the carrier's customisation
I saw something posted that if you pull the battery at this point then it will stop the customisation & you just get the standard HTC config. Not sure of what the potential risks are though.
Apparently you can do this at any point afterwards as well if you do a hard reset (don't know how you do that yet!)
I.
to stop the custom o2 install, when it says about to customer soft reset it by poking the stylus in the reset hole on the base of the phone
I've just left the stock ROM running, but stopped various aspects of the software that comes with it from starting up by removing the links from the startup menu. The device doesn't run slowly at all. I was amazed at how ugly the O2 stuff was!
I didn't bother with a new ROM, I have just installed the best bits of the HTC stuff from this forum (many thanks to many people, incidentally) and it improves the functionality of the device massively with very little work. Why O2 felt the need to replace good software with ugly rubbish I'll never know.
I run TomTom 6, and have never had any trouble with it at all; I always get a good quick lock, and have never found myself in the wrong country!

Hello - And could you possibly help (Syncing mature newbie)

Hello,
I have been given (kindly) due to a dying SE750i a xdaII
I have set up the docking station and downloaded Activesync from Microsoft however when I plug in my xdaII into the dock the sync window appears with the little window informing me it is retrieving my settings with a spinning green graphic.
It has been doing this for 20 minutes now. Initially I thought it had crashed so I removed the phone and got the message telling me it cannot sync as the phone is off, so I placed the phone on again and it started to sync again.
It is charging fine,
The Activesync I downloaded is Version 4.5 from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmob...ulas/eula_activesync45_1033.mspx?ProductID=76
The xdaII software seems to be ROM version
3.50b.40CS (ROM date 01/13/07)
Can anyone help me get it to connect so I can start to make the phone mine.
Managed to Sync however still think my firmware is out of date, any clues on that?
Also noticed my connection settings for MMS and also mobile web seem to be not there.
Currently using O2 can anyone help on this?
Thank you
Two things:
You have posted you have a XDA II, but this is the forum for the XDA IIi, small difference in name but big difference in what it will do. The IIi, aka Alpine, has WiFi and is stuck on WM2003, the XDA II, aka Himalaya, doesn't and isn't.
If you search on this forum elsewhere you should find a CAB file with the settings for O2, they may even be on the O2 site itself.

HTC Tytn II freezes few seconds

Hi all,
First of all, let me wish you all a happy 2009
Since a few days my HTC Tytn II freezes sometimes: During several seconds I can't select items using the Stylus.. Even if i tap several times, nothing happens. It usually freezes for 2-3 seconds, not more.
I'm using the 6.1 ROM. I already tried a hard reset, and even without any additional programs installed, the problem occurs every now and then.
Anyone has an idea?
-moose
I've had this happen to me as well, but thought it normal just because of the OS being Windows. Sorry I don't really have an answer I'm learning all this stuff as well but did want to at least acknowledge your not the only one with this as an issue.
ok, but is it exactly what I'm experiencing? It's not always the case, only sometimes.. And I can't tell beforehand when it's going to happen actually.
I don't have lots of programs open when the problem occurs..
Par for the course with HTCs WM 6.1 'upgrade'
I had that problem with the HTC supplied WM 6.1 upgrade ROM (along with general unreliability and poor GPS performance). Reverting back to the WM 6.0 ROM/Radio/SPL seems to have cured those issues. Now the only problem I have is an occasionally laggy keyboard (or if I install the laggy keyboard fix here on xda-dev, then occasional pausing during media such as video and mp3 playback - haven't figured out how to solve both). I suspect your pausing is associated with radio/reception activity. Try turning it to flight mode as a test and see if it still occurs (not that the device is much use like this, but it will pinpoint the cause).
HI,
Thanks for reply. Do you know if there's an official (supported by HTC) way to revert back to the old windows?
I indeed upgraded recently to 6.1, and it seems that problems started after the upgrade.
You could complain and get HTC to do it

If your phone is still under warranty then just speak with the HTC Repair Centre for your area (in the UK they're in Milton Keynes). In my case because the GPS under WM 6.1 wouldn't work properly (and I was having the other problems you described), when I told them I needed a prompt solution they offered to revert it for free. After booking it in through their call centre, I left it with the repair centre in the morning and it was done at the end of that day. No there is no official way to do it yourself (even though one HTC call centre staffmember tried to tell me there was - the RUU package he referred me to was only for upgrading from even older WM 6.0 ROMs or reflashing over the same WM 6.0 setup, not reverting back from WM 6.1). There are unofficial ways as per instructions in the wiki so if you're not near to one of their repair centres (or object to the delay/costs involved with postage), then thats an option but make sure you know what you're doing first.
Assuming you have a European WWE HTC branded TyTN II, the setup in my sig seems to be working pretty well here in the UK.
The cure for this is to use the kaiser unlocker and unlock your phone. You will probably have to re-flash your radio after that but this fixed it for me. I only experienced after upgrading to 6.1.

I don't think thats an issue associated with any lock on the phone (although perhaps a lock may make it worse). My HTC branded TyTN II came totally unlocked to start with and after the WM 6.1 upgrade the problems came, after reverting to WM 6.0, they went - the solution seems simple to me if people can get past the 'against the grain thinking' of using an 'old' ROM for greater reliability.

I will confirm that this is happening on a HTC Branded unlocked TyTN II. I have had no experience with 6.0 on my TyTN II, as my phone came with 6.1 installed and exhibits the above mentioned behavior.

[Q] Connection sharing?

Hi
I've been using HTC phones for years now, always been on O2 and I've always used my various flavours of XDA to connect my laptop to the internet. I am at this very moment using my Polaris via bluetooth to connect to this forum with my laptop, that is my problem.
It it the one function that the Polaris does that I can't make my HD7 do. Am I missing something here? Surely the HD7 can do this, it is a pretty basic function of a phone so I reckon the problem here is the user.
I am currently having to swap my sim card between devices whenever I need to connect to the net with my PC.
I little help here would be very appreciated.

Actually, at this time I dont believe there is any way to tether the HD7 to a PC and if I remember correctly, I believe at this time the bluetooth on the HD7 only works for a headset and nothing else. I may be wrong so Id do a bit more searching but I believe this is what I have read and heard...
Feeling your pain.... My PSTN telephone line is down (taking my broadband with it) so having to stick my sim back in my water damaged HTC HD2 and with a stroke of luck and with the awesome windows controller 'MyMobiler' I can use that as my modem... Was a bit shocked that this was missing with WP7 going after the business (and social) sectors...
