Hi,
I have a very poor 3G at home...
Do anyone has any suggestion to make my signal stronger?
Do cell signal boosters works for this phone?

Flash your Radio in CM recovery. I noticed slightly better signal strenth from the stock radio. I find that KB3 works best for me. I've only found 3 different radio files what work with my Nexus S.
However, judging from the number of posts you have, I'm sure you've probably tried that already.

Ive noticed generally speaking, my Nexus S has a slightly weaker radio than other devices. At my local college a week ago I couldn't make a call, while the person beside me on a free pay as you go phone was talking up a storm. Made me sad.
Hi guys, i'm having the same problem (i already put the B3 radio but same situation).
Any solution or workaround to make the signal stronger?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884
apply the HSDPA tweak
I use stickers
I use the same sticker that I was using in my HD2. This only works, as I read, for 2G.
Sticker:
http://forums.radioreference.com/at...-phone-antenna-boosters-fake-real-booster.jpg
Video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Elgx7lp7YMc
There is a lot of controversy on this stickers but for $1...I have been using them for more than 8 years.
I'm starting to believe that NS + T-Mobile towers have very poor signal.
I rarely get signals inside any classroom. If lucky, Edge connections, if not, I can only make emergency calls.
I see other people using AT&T and Verizon's phone work totally fine, while mine is not.
I tried all types of tweaks.. faster? maybe. signal strength? same as before.
Using KD1 radio.
Ehh I'm pretty sure its the internal antenna placement or poor cellular radio quality because signal on my ns4g blows (like 1 bar or more less than my HTC hero) and I know many others have this issue....
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
I'm sure in my case is a phone problem. I have also an HTC Desire and a Acer Liquid and with the same operator and in the same place the signal is stronger.

On the positive side, Nexus S4G/GSM radiation level is almost/less than half of the HTC Hero.
Nexus S4G 0.64
Hero Sprint 1.13
Nexus S gsm. 0.51
This makes the Nexus S safer & healthier for you.

Any success with signal booster?

HI all
I just got down a unlocked Inspire 4G and I have only Edge and GPRS for data
cause there are no operator where i live that support the 1900 Band..
I called the Shop they said they have a Captivate and a Samsung Focus and its cheaper and they will refunfd the extra
although I love the Inspire they way it feels and looks...
but with only 2G speeds, is it really worth to keep it.
or the practical solution is to Return it and Get a Captivate or a Focus??
Captivate seems to be a good phone too..been reading up on reviews and stuff..
Please lend me your thoughts to help me decide..
Thank you so much for your time
I have never loved a phone the way I love my rooted captivate!!!!!
How are the probelems with GPS on captivate
how is it with SGS2 Roms like APEX??
Thank you very much for your time
The GPS is totally and utterly broken and useless.
AT&T only uses the 850 and 1900 bands for it's network.
Hold on... Cappy doesn't have 2100? :O
Edit: yes it does.. I guess I understand your problem... Anyways if u r on att, then 850 n 1900 are your only options, if you r on some other network of 2100band then inspire won't work, but Cappy will. N its an awesome phone... Really awesome. One of the best ever made. Gps is screwed Up though... But get a Cappy, root it, install a custom rom, n u WILL LOVE IT. Guaranteed. Ciao.

Their quality control isn't very good.
Captivate is a good phone, build quality is one of the best (compared to i9000, European SGS). GPS used to work for me but now is totally dead, God knows what happened.
Now, I still dont understand where is your problem, Inspire and Captivate have exactly the same bands... so you won't win anything by exchanging it. You would actually lose the 4.5 screen, the camera flash and the 8MP camera

My advice, stay with Infuse. 2 weeks ago i went to an area that only had EDGE. Yesterday I went back there, and to my surprise, HSPA was available , so maybe you could wait a bit, they might upgrade their infrastructure..

I've had two Captivates, and the GPS units in both have worked just great. I think that as long as you get one built since last October, there's a good chance that the GPS will be fine.
I did have to clean up the contacts on the back of the phone last week to restore normal GPS operation. I suddenly started having trouble getting a lock, but removing the cover and cleaning the gold contacts on the phone and the pads they contact on the cover restored proper GPS function quickly. No problem since I did that.
Sent from wherever I was when I sent it.
the later builds such as Build 1012 seem to make a difference on GPS, I moved from a 1007 build phone to a build 1008 then to a 1012 it was a night and day difference. Aim for a 1012 or greater.
The captivate is great. But I'd stick with the Inspire even if it doesnt have 3g. Its a newer phone and I have a few friends that have it and love it to death. I'd try and see if installing a Rom change your data speeds.
i love my inspire....too bad im going to cheat on it with my GS2 in the coming weeks.....
my atrix is even seeing some love finally thanks to CM7
Inspire sucks compared to the cappy. Its build quality is remarkable,it has the unbrickable mod,mUch awesomer developer community. Specs for inspire r not much better thn the cappy anyways. Anyways he won't get the 4g if he doesn't hav 850/1900.

Ahh, gotta love how AT&T is spreading LTE faster then they said they would... their determined.
Also, has anyone noticed lag on the Vivid? I've had lag while just switching home screens, and I was playing with an Evo 3D at best buy today, had no lag switching home screens, opens apps, even scrolling through the app drawer.... Maybe I should do a factory reset.

I do like the early LTE deployment here, really didn't think SoCal would be getting LTE until middle of next year.
Regarding the lag, not really experiencing any at all. Like most here, I'm actually surprised how smooth the Vivid is right out of the box. You probably need to do a factory reset to bring the speed back.

I would agree, I thought LTE would pull around 30 to 40ish. But 20 is close to what I'm getting with my cable, but the upload does beat the 2 that I'm getting from home.
Keep in mind it is just a test run, speeds may vary with full launch and network saturation etc.

Wait, what?
You expected LTE to perform better than your home internet?! Did I miss something here?
I'd be surprised if it even comes remotely close, judging how crappy mobile data speeds have been ever since I've been using it.

Ha, as funny as it sounds, yes we are expecting it to be faster. From some of the tests I've seen with the LTE, it is able to do upwards of 45 (but that's with no load) I'm getting 25 down and 2 up from my cable at home, and so far in my area the best I've seen is 20 down and 5 up.
My home internet is 2.5mbps (AT&T DSL). So my LTE device now is 4x faster when it does a meager 10mbps in Los Angeles.

Considering the post just above yours show's precisely that...
AND the fact that I routinely get 7-8mbps with peaks of 10-11mbps on hspa+
Yes, yes I did expect LTE to be more than twice as fast as hspa.

I know people have made threads about the droid 4 before but this is me pondering with myself when im bored. Do u guys realize that pretty much the only major significant differences between the d3 and d4 is the fact that the d4 has about 500 more mb ram than d3 and it runs at 1.2 GHz and ours run at 1.0... welll i was thinking... we have overclock now so there goes that difference. Plus as overclock progresses and as time goes by i feel like we could hit as high as 1.5 safely. So pretty much the only major difference is the ram butt whooocaress? Like not to brag about our phones but Once were unlocked (which i feel like wont be much longer) our phone literally will be superior to any other android phone. What do you guys have to say (;
P.s. i could be missing specs but i feel like those 2 are the major ones.

i dont understand that. 4g is alot faster than 3g. only problem is battery life, and that is only if you dont know how to manage battery life ;]
What about the screen?
Another problem is that D4's LTE is only good for Verizon.
DYP, screen seems to be the same as D3's. Screenshots clearly showed pentile matrix and specs say TFT - so it must be the same crappy screen as D3.

Yeah i agree its faster but it pretty much is an upgraded 3g like it not always works. It sometimes drops. Data bills increase. Idk man i just dont really care for it. And yeah battery life decreases tremendously but once people are able to flash stuff for it it will improve. I feel like 4g has alot of improvement to do not gonna lie
Sent from my droid 3 using Tapatalk
cant lie about lots of that. 4g is a great technology, its the carriers that arent using it to its full potential. If you look at the actual 4g capable speeds and the speeds the carriers are letting us have, you will be even more disappointed lol.
The battery sucking isses will hopefully be obsolete once carriers get more heavily engaged in research using fuel cells.
Everyone says the Droid 4 is what the Droid 3 should have been.
For my part, yeah, it kind of gets on my nerves, but not too much. 1G of RAM would be nice, but I rarely run out with 512MB. I don't stream multimedia, so 3g is fast enough for me.
And the price was nice, $150 with a data plan. So I have no complaints.
As things stand now, the Droid 4 will probably be my next phone in a year or or so.

Battery life is not the only problem. I bought a Bionic in early October but had regular issues with random data drops - so that I had no LTE, 3G or 1X - in area where I know there is strong and solid Verizon 3G. There was also a nationwide, 24 hour data outage when I was ten days in. I exchanged the Bionic for the D3 because it was the best 3G phone on Verizon.
Since then there have been two more nationwide LTE outages (which also takes out 3G for the LTE phone, but not for 3G phones), and the Bionic forums are filled with people still complaining about random data drops. (Apparently this is fixed with an LTE SIM swap, but who has time to keep going in to Verizon for a new SIM?) Meanwhile, my D3 has been a solid, solid, solid data device every since I got it in mid-October.
LTE is still not mature and I think I'll be happier locked in to a solid 3G phone like the D3 rather than an immature LTE phone (because surely the hardware and network will get better in the next year or so) for the next 20 or so months. I would be happier if the D3 had been 1 GB RAM, but I don't feel it's that big a deal. I can tell you that it's frustrating when you need data access somewhere and find that the phone isn't getting data where you know that it should be.
If you turn off LTE and force CDMA on your 4g phone, you can can be locked into 3G connectivity. That said, I like having a removal battery. I like that I have the choice to buy the extended. I think Droid 4 will be a bust tbqh. More memory would be nice but with Dpwhitty11's ROM, I don't have a need for it.
I don't honestly care. Hash has the ICS ROM coming along well and when it has the camera to me it will be perfectly stable for an Alpha. I am glad that it works and yeah 4G would be nice but I don't care honestly.

I do believe that someone is working on a ics rom for the RAZR. so assuming that the 2 phones will be comparable it should be relatively easy for someone to port it over to the droid 4 "ASSUMING" they are going to be similar.
Razr will get official ICS support, not sure why anyone would work on it on their own. It would merely be a waste of their time.

3G connectivity is still affected by LTE outages on LTE phones. If LTE is down (as I believe it was again toady), 3G almost always is as well, though it is not for 3G-only phones. I also had as many random data drops with CDMA only mode as I did with LTE/CDMA on the Bionic.
I am posting a follow up thread on my review of my new Nexus 4 16 after two full days of what I would consider normal use. I used the same routine I would be using with my trusty GNEX and spared the phone no mercy.
Call quality and reception has been excellent on the T-Mobile US network and some of my clients have actually asked me if I changed phones because I sound better on the new N4, a positive feedback.
Battery life is actually a little better then the GNEX and I have always say if you are so worried about the battery life, Buy a GOOD car charger and it solves that issue.
I have been impressed with the speed and smoothness of this stock 4.2 JB ROM, the screen swipe is smooth with no lag and the apps launch quickly. The screen sharpness is top notch and in my opinion better then my GNEX.
The network connection has been perfect with no dropped calls and I have always had a solid 3G or H icon in the status bar, it would be nice to have a battery percentage indicator in the status bar though.
I used the Google voice function when texting and sending emails and I was impressed how fast the response time was, very little lag time when I was talking and the text was been generated on the screen.
So far this phone has been everything I expected it to be, yes 4G would be nice but for what I use the device for, 3G & HSPA is fine.I did not buy it to watch movies or play games. I use it as a phone and PDA like it was meant to be used.
My only complaint is a personal preference, but why is the hour text font on the lockscreen digital clock so much bigger then the minutes, drives me nuts looking at it. Maybe there is a way to change it and I just haven't found it yet.
Just my feedback and what is now my daily driver. I can't wait until the developers start build customs ROM's for it. Thanks Google for a great device that is priced just right for the person looking for a reliable wireless device. ME.

Yeap H = HSPA + = 4G under T-Mobile's network ... Not technically 4G as in LTE but close enough and fast enough for most users .. (Unless you upload and download massive files all the time)

current hspa+ is not 4g
mimo multicarrier dc hspa+ is however..since it achieves 168mbps which is way beyond 4g standards
regardless..most lte used only get around 30mbps(that ive seen) so its not that far of a stretch..
So 4g is what? Speed only? I thought it was basically the generation after 4g...I don't think any 3g comes close to hspa+..my brothers often gets over 40mbps down..

So 4g is what? Speed only? I thought it was basically the generation after 4g...I don't think any 3g comes close to hspa+..my brothers often gets over 40mbps down..

True 4g is 100mbps it is all a gimmick. But let me tell you 40down is fast and another thing to remember is you won't feel a different from 7down to 20 it's all fast really. It is just bull how the company's say it is 4g it's really 3.5 g if that makes sense lol
4G is 4th Generation and unless I am mistaken Wimax is the only true 4th generation because LTE, HSPA+ came after and LTE-A is still comming. There is so little difference in the different flavors that they have bunched all the brothers together in marketing as 4G.
You are just playing with words, true 4g etc..if it is fast, has great coverage and does not drain the battery like a hooker on Broad st then it is all good to me..screw lte..

Hey guys, looking for some opinions here...
I used to be on sprint, but hated it, but it was free... Now, I am on T-Mobile, I have a chance to get back to sprint @$50/more and HTC One, or s4.
Now, to me, I rather like hspa+, I always get good speeds, vs dialup on sprint. Problem is that since I've gotten nexus 4. I've moved to DC, and am now moving again, this time to Atlanta. Lately, I get odd signal drops all over. Like I'd be at home and my phone while being in my pocket would lose service all together, or would be trying to refresh an app, and same thing. I tried many different ROM and kernel configurations, as well as radios, still same. When I was down in Atlanta two weeks ago, similar issues. Somebody I know has nexus 4 on T-Mobile in DC, and they are complaining of same thing.
Now, my buddy in Atlanta just upgraded from galaxy nexus to s4, he says it is night and day ad far as signal strength goes, quality of service. And when I was down there, I had signal drops with 3 bars to no service, didn't make sense as to why signal was dropping.
My question is, the antenna in htc one as well as s4 seems to be much better for tmo than what nexus 4 has. I've also read a lot on people have similar problems as I with the nexus 4. Will getting HTC one resolve this issue I'm having? Or is it network related and I'm better off switching just to get more consistent service?
