and before i did an overclocking to the cpu to run at 1 GHz , and now my phone can stop crashing in every application , please help how can i restore the kernel how it was before with no overclocking or memhacks ,

This ROM has integrated OC Daemon to control the screen state scaling. Therefore you do not need setcpu by default. However, it is a choice for you to choose to either install it or not because installing it would disable the daemon but you get to control the governors yourself and also clock it according to your preference at ease.
Do everyone know which kernel the best for OC
i've flash - jdkernel_vivo_nightly_07-26-2011 - can OC up to 1900Ghz but sometime its freeze and need to unplug battery.
so i uninstall and using only ROM - Cyanogen7_vivo_full-68- nighlies update
and RAM_Optimisations_777-CWM then Set Cpu to 1497Ghz
need advise - im noob

rcmix 3.0 is my personal fave at the moment.
Awesome battery life, can oc to 1.9ghz as well and is smooth as butter
Can you use the rcmix 3.0 kernel on a aosp rom like cm? I thought sense kernels didnt go so well with aosp roms..id
go with the tiamat kernel for aosp roms like cm.
Guyz my x8 ain't stable at 691 mhz.. on stock kernel ....

The higest Freq that my phone was able to go up to was 787 mhz,, and It was stable at 768, If you want to stick to stock kernel,, you might try changing oc module, There are 2 oc modules one by DX and other ones By Zefie,
The best option however is to unlock your Bootloader and Use a custom kernel , according to some people unlocked bootloaders increased their phones oc capabilities .
I am running gingerdx v0.22 and CPu is stable at 768..I am currently having stock kernel.
Hi ,
I have a few begineers questions , I have a galaxy s that is running gingerbread 2.3.6 , is rooted and had a voodoo kernel (with recovery option) . I was thinking of possibilities of overclocking , can that be done with the setup I have ?
thanks in advance
You can easily overclock your phone with a root access with an application like this :
bit.ly/fnUFCD
There are lots of applications existing.
You can see on your kernel thread on this board what frequency is supported.
try Tegrak overclock or NSTools. Find other apps on Market.

thanks for the info guys , installed busybox and android overclock , but appears the kernel is not able to be overclocked as I got a message and the max frequency showing is 1000 mhz , would anyone be able to recommend a kernel that would suit - would like to keep things preety simple and straightforward at the mo
cheers

Semaphore is the best http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112908
thanks again , my phone is showing jvz suffix at end of kernel - show the semaphore jvz is the way to go ?
I am trying to avoid an expensive paperwight
Semaphore kernel can work on all gingerbread roms. So it is safe to flash semaphore 2.5 on your phone.

Will overclocking the phone significantly reduce battery life? Or cause any degradation of the phone due to excess heat?

Battery use will obviously be higher with the processor on more clock speed but there's no problem with the temperature. Remember, always overclock in minor steps, check stability and in this way you would get a stable phone
Hey i just flashed the Explosion rom 2.1 and its fking awesome , can anyone tell me where can i see if i have an overclocked cpu ,cuz when i join to hardware informations it still says 600MHz
try using setcpu application ...download from play store...phone must be rooted to use it...
first off let me say i am not new to rooting or overclocking. i have a original droid a855 and i have rooted it and want to over clock it, but the problem is that all the downloads i could find were megaupload links and we all know about what happend to that. so i was wondering if anybody knows where to get the evilboot kernals or is there and other over clockiing methods that will allow over 800mhz, Please help!!!! Thank You
Give this a try: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pt.com.darksun.milestoneoverclock
tried that
i already tried that and it only lets me get to 800mhz which is still better than 550mhz, but i want 1ghz. i started with this guide, it wont let me post a the link but if you google droid a85 overclock scroll down and click on the one that starts with *release* that is the guide that im trying to use
but all the links are megaupload i got the evilboot1ghz but i cant find the flash image indicated in the guide. and i flashed sp recovery and then it would not recognize the battery so i then i flashed FRG89G and that fixed the problem. but the cause of the problem was that i used a 2.1 sp recovery on a 2.2.3 install. So what i need is the 1ghz flash image that is in the guide and a sp recovery that will work on 2.2.3 please help. Thanks
Have you checked the custom roms for the droid? I'm not really aware of them as I own a Milestone, but in the Milestone CM roms, there is an option to set the min/max cpu values. It's easier and more safe than flashing all kind of hacks.
ya............

I would recommend taking a look at Prime's deprimed kernel which can be downloaded from here, it allows you to customize the overclocking, voltage, etc. When my Droid 1 was my daily driver phone I used Prime's De-primed kernel and it offered excellent performance running at 1.0 GHz, other people have been able to stably set it to 1.25 GHz as well. For more information on Prime's De-primed kernel and how to use it's features I would recommend checking out this thread.
Sorry it took me so long to get back, That looks very promising and i guess ill try it out
ok so im running cm7 and i flashed the prime kernal and went to the terminal and typed "su" enter that works then "overclock" enter, says command not found. i tried reflashing the kernal, does the same thing. please help!!!

Your sure you flashed the kernel zip in recovery correctly right? I would also take a look at this post here from Prime that tells you how to use his kernel it's possible that the other features and scripts of his kernel will work for you.
i have clock work mod recovery and i install the zip from there and the i tried the comands but it didnt work, but in setcpu or the cm7 performance settings it will allow 1ghz and the bumblebee governer. So i dont know if i should just use that or what???????

If you see that options to use the 1 GHz clock speed and bumblebee governor are available in SetCPU then you can use SetCPU and that should work fine. SetCPU is what I always used to use to tweak Prime's de-primed kernel after flashing the kernel.
Thank You for the help , ive been running it at 1ghz and bumblebee for a while now and it is sooooooooooooooo much better than stock
