Its been happening for about a day now. almost all of my apps arent working, i get that unexpectedly blah blah error on market, google framework, browser, gmail, tweetdeck, music, etc.
Tried restoring it to factory settings via settings>privacy,(...) tried volume up + power, restore, tried NVflash restore, tried flashing another rom and everytime it goes back to my old settings.
the only thing that remotely worked was booting into safemode and trying to uninstall apps, but once again after rebooting it goes back to my old settings.
please help, call me a noob if you will

Have you tried factory reset from the recovery screen? Not within Android, that factory reset should NEVER be used, it will brick your device or lock it in Read Only mode

Last night I power cycled my phone and put it on my charger. When I woke up this morning and looked at my phone there were a ton of force close screens. I have no phone (cannot make calls) and not data.
I power cycled the phone over and over and have been searching the net all day but cannot get it to work. The only thing that I had done prior to the initial power cycle was a few updates from the market, so I uninstalled those apps, but it appears that was not the problem.
I have root access and was running gumbo's rom (now MaDoCo...thought that would help) and I really don't wanna do a factory reset. Is there anything I can do?
Factory reset is most likely gonna be your only option. If you dont wanna do that, do you still have the .zip for your rom on your mem card? If so, why not just reflash the zip? Might take care of the issue without having to do a hard reset. I am assumingm, though, that if you are rooted you would have created a nandroid backup? Why not just restore?
Tried reflashing the rom and that didn't work. Gonna do a Factory reset now. Lets see
tried factory reset and now i'm stuck on boot screen
Did you ever make a Nandroid backup?? I would suggest you run the Sprint RUU and bring your phone back to Stock, reroot, install recovery, and then a custom ROM. That looks like your best option.
But, just for the hell of it -- take out of your battery and then insert it back in and reboot, see if that does anything.
What kind of factory reset did you do? Wipe from recovery, go through setting, the home>back>power one, or what? And are you stuck at the HTC screen? That happened to me once, but it was because I flashed a GSM rom my first try. Boot into recovery, wipe the phone, and if that doenst do it, I agree with pseodo, time to RUU.
Well I tried resetting from the recovery and wiping, but it will not boot up. Then I tried the RUU, but it wont get past the boot screen in order for me to to connect it to the USB. I tried connecting the USB through recovery and although I can access my SD card via my PC, going through the steps for the RUU says its not connected.
I took my phone over to sprint and although they know I have a custom rom on there (which voided my warranty), they are still gonna give me a brand new one and send mine back through manufacture warranty. It'll be in on Tuesday. Luckily for me I have an online back up through by MyBackUpPro, so I should be good on restoring settings, apps, contacts and all other important stuff. (Minus Root and Custom Rom )
Thanks for all the suggestions, I appreciate it.
I flashed a new set of icons last week and had a bunch of force closes, restored a nandroid and everything was fine.
Hi guys, I just updated to the new version through Kies. As soon as my phone booted and I exited lock screen, a lot of popups of processes that crashed show up. This includes android.process.acore, com.google.processes.gapps, Daily Briefing, calendar... pretty much everything shows up and I don't have access to anything on the phone. Apparently usb debug got back on so I can't get kies to recognize the phone.
I have a contract-free galaxy s from germany. Rooted. Uninstalled ryans lag fix through market before upgrading. I don't know what I did wrong.
What can I do? Thank you very much!

Just did a factory reset via recovery mode. Did not solve the problem. Weird thing: How can it still know remember what's my lockscreen password if it was factory reset?
Have the same problem here... Before Factory reset the phone was stuck at the Big S, after reset, it started, I could enter my pin and then the force closes started
Now downloading firmware and hope restoring via Odin will work. Luckily downoad mode still works
Hey mate can you please provide links of firmware you are using and odin? Please report if you have sucess too. Thanks!

Go into the phone settings, manage applications, Choose GMail, clear the data. Go back and choose GMail Storage and choose to clear that data. Try to force a sync.
Then reboot the phone.

E:Can't mount /dev/block/st110 (invalid argument) E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount DBDATA
Help? I have tried with 512.pic and 803.pic, both failed
Aww, that's bad.
Here all went well. Used Odin to flash back to the original FW I had installed (XXJF3), then used kies to go again to JM2 and just finished installing Froyo
Now to get all my apps back. Hopefully Titanium Backup does what it promises

Kick back to your nand, delete the rom and gapps, redownload them and reflash. It's possible that you just got a bad dl of one or the other. Make sure you wipe data and dalvik. I had this issue once, banged my head on the wall and just decided to get rid of it all and try again.
Yes same for me the whole time it was a bad download good luck
Root-Hack-Mod-Always™
this happened to me - I can get into the phone but nothing works - just blank screen with that error coming up frist - tried erasing everything, wipe dalvik cache, user cache, factory reset, etc. - then tried reflashing rom via CWM - still nothing works - my home and back buttons are also gone

Do you have any nandriod backups? If so, run the backup and see what happens.

i stuck with the same issue on my mytouch q but i dont have a nanoid, need help,
dont wanna buy a new phone
I installed it yesterday via Kies. after finished, it told me to reboot then I did, When I turned on the phone, it just started as normal with flashing S logo.
10-15 seconds later the screen turned black and the menu and back buttons lights on with a vibration sometimes.
I just cant use 3 buttons to get into any modes or use CMD to get into it. I just bought it last week and never installed any ROMS in it.
Any help, please?
I've had some issues after Kies upgrade... my apps kept crashing and not responding. I think I even had the same problem like you. All I did is a factory reset. Go to Settings -> Privacy and under Personal Data you'll find Factory data reset. Try it. Be carefull before doing a factory reset, try backup your data (phonebook, contacts, messages etc.) Hope it helps
I cant even get into the phone. got stuck at the logo..
the phone will auto reboot... how come you have to reboot it yourself?
I rooted my droid 4 a few months ago when I first got it so I could tether. I removed a couple of programs using titanium backup (blockbuster app and some other bloat). Phone worked fine until monday when the touchscreen stopped working. I did a reboot (power + volume down) whereupon it just sat at the M "Dual Core" logo. I tried booting into the recovery menu but selecting "recovery" didn't do anything - it would just hang.
Last night I was able to get it working again by going into the recovery menu and selecting asp fastboot, then using RSDLite to push a stock Droid 4 ROM onto the phone. However, it didn't wipe my old system, and didnt install over it either because all my files were there, and the programs I removed were still gone. So the phone worked for a few hours then the touchscreen stopped working again.
I repeated the process with RSDLite and after a few failed attempts where the phone would hang while booting, I finally got it to boot into the OS again. And this is where I am at now.
I am pretty sure that the problem is related to the OS that is on the phone now and that I need to wipe the phone and start fresh with either a custom ROM or the stock D4 ROM. The problem is that I can't get recovery to do a factory reset. As I mentioned above, recovery just hangs and doesn't do anything. I am reasonably literate when it comes to this stuff but I get really confused because there are so many different ways that people seem to do this stuff (safestrap, bootstrap, CM( etc). I would love to try CM9 but my priority right now is just to have a phone that works. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

select recovery by holding the vol buttons and power on boot just like fastboot. press vol - for recovery. when u see dead droid hit both vol up and vol down and theres the recovery
Thanks, I was finally able to get into recovery. Wiped data and did a factory reset which again got stuck at the logo screen. Went back into fastboot and ran RSDlite again to flash the stock ROM which gets me to the "Welcome to Droid4" screen where it says "touch the android to start" but the touchscreen is unresponsive. Starting to think there is something physically wrong with the phone....
send it to motorola, I've heard their customer support is pretty good. but if you voided your warranty by rooting/flashing other roms, I've heard bricking the phone and sending it in works to get a new one too
The only way I can send it back is through an insurance claim so I am trying to save myself $75j if this thing will just work. I just did a reboot and now the touchscreen seems to be working so I am going through the setup process....so weird.
Update: I was able to get the phone to load up and configured my google account etc. It appears that the phone is now running on completely stock installation of OS.....

So it has been a couple days now and the phone works totally fine. It looks like the problem was that by removing whatever bloatware that I did, the phone's OS got borked when VZW pushed an update of some kind. Flashing the stock ROM without doing a factory wipe would temporarily solve the problem but eventually the update would get pushed again and the whole thing would lock up again. The factory wipe + reinstall seems to have been the solution to the problem.
