I saw people mentioning the V6 supercharger script, and went and found and installed it. However I wasn't sure what setting to use (when it asks for a number between 1-17). Cloud I get some advice from others on that?
Here's the supercharger thread for those interested: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276
I'm pretty sure the choice you want is 6 at least that's what I did. Not sure where I saw that, but I think is was from the gingerbread man

6 is what I use with the kernel and 3g tweaks as well and it has made a huge difference. I know others are using that as well on the Hero. I like my performance with no compcahe and jit on. Every phone is different though. I'm doing the animations on fast in spare parts. I am finally using all animations too, not just the window.

Yeah it definitely improved my phone's performance. I'm going to try disabling compcache and disabling jit (since it was on by default) and see what happens. Maybe further performance increases will ensue.

I have gotten good response from my phone with jit on. I will have to test more with jit off to compare. I did with compcache and found more lagginess on my device, but others have probably have no issue- same with jit as well. I also have asset purging disabled FWIW.
Good luck!

Those are tweaks that cyanogenmod adds to their roms. You aren't seeing them on sense because they aren't there.

I'm not really sure that the 3g tweaks are working. I've tried all the options on the latest release, but nothing seems to change when I run a speedtest. I'm generally around 1k down/600 up. Any ideas on this? I don't know if I need to running run on boot as well or not. . .

Same here. I tried all, even the two "experimental" options and my speed test results are basically identical to what I had before applying any updates.
for the experimental it says "it may or may not make things snappier or do nothing at all" and as too the 3g tweak, did u reboot after installation? you can check your buildprop to see if settings were changed
Yup...did a reboot each time. Would it matter the order in which the other "tweaks" were implemented? I did the 3g, then the v6 supercharger, then the kernal tweak.
But, I'm seeing no benefit at all from the 3g.
Running gb hero deck 1.21 with. 29 kernal and firerat mod as well.

I ran some tests on my 3g speeds and the results were pretty inconclusive. I guess I should have included a test with the 3g tweaks turned off too. Anyway, it was a pretty limited test, but it seems like there isn't much of a difference with any of the 5 settings. I'm not unhappy with the 3g speeds. I just was hoping to get more of a bump with the tweaks.
I ran 10 tests each, using speakeasy.net on my laptop, while tethering to my phone's 3g. I went that route b/c I've read that the speed test app is pretty buggy for GB ROMs. In my experience that is very true b/c my readings are all over the place with that thing.
Turns out the "Fastest" was indeed fastest. But, not by much. Here are my average readings over 10 iterations:
Fastest - 1304 kbps / 464 kbps
Faster - 1299 kbps / 464 kbps
Exp. 2 - 1259 kbps / 339 kbps
Exp. 1 - 1132 kbps / 438 kbps
Fast - 1147 kbps / 390 kbps
The fastest single DL test was on the Experimental 2 and was 2510 kbps (2.51 M)...however, the slowest DL test was also on Exp. 2 (530 kbps). So, that one was all over the place. I guess i just have to accept that the hero isn't gonna be getting 2-3M download speeds with regularity on Sprint's 3g. For now, i'm too stubborn to upgrade, but we'll see how that goes.
As far as the v6 tweaks, i never really had a complaint with this phone since getting rid of that laggy-as-hell stock ROM. CM7, GB deck, and aospCMod have all been really snappy for me...especially when in conjunction with Launcher Pro. I think i'm on the latest radio (2.42.02.10.29). However, i'm not on the latest PRL. I don't know how to change that w/o reverting back to sense. I'm at 60677, currently. Would that make a difference with 3g? I thought that only pertained to the voice signal and roaming...
Im trying to do this too i see there are different updates and versions. Also when i press enter where the heck is the enter button on our hero? Why is it for txt it has a go button and for other things its a back button. Im running standard GB keyboard. I dont know how to finish the V6 if i dont know where to enter.

Tmo here in Orlando and HSPA+ switch is on, however, I can HSDPA speeds of 3-5mbps which is great! My HSUPA speeds seem capped around .58-.68mbps though, not the 1.2+mbps that others are seeing. Do you guys have settings or extra code lines set in /system/build.prop file?
I had:
HSXPA=1 or 2 doesn't make a difference
gprscategory=12 or 10 no difference
HSDPA=8 highest the N1 is capable of
HSUPA=4, 5 or 6 no diff, still .58-.68 upload speeds
Have any of you guys modified the build.prop file with HSPA+? Is it needed at all?
I've been getting 1.3Mbps upload consistently in NYC since January using both stock and modded Cyanogen ROMs, including FroYo when I was testing a few weeks ago.

Yeah I'm 10 minutes outside of NYC and get nowhere near that speed.
my opinion, you can not "tap" into a network that isn't available in your area.
So trying to set your prop to any settings for a faster network, is time wasted.

Thanks for correcting my mistake
The local network appears to be capped at .6Mbps for you, something you'll have to take up with your local engineers. They'll probably increase upload soon, if they will at all.
I've found you don't have to edit the build prop when using any stock ROM. Only when using cyanogen do I lose hsupa, then I have to fix my build prop.
For example, on stock 2.1 and 2.2 froyo, I get 1.5 mbps upload. As soon as I load any cyanogen ROM, my upload immediately gets capped at 384 kbps. I edit build prop to set hsxpa=2 and instantly my upload goes right up to 1.5 mbps again.
And this makes sense, because Google is selling a 7.2 mbps down / 2.0 mbps up phone, right? So they have the maximum hsupa setting by default. Setting it to anything less makes no sense because the phone will always connect to The fastest connection available in any given location. There's on reason to ever set hsxpa less than 2 in the build prop file, cause that just artificially lowers your connection. I've always wondered why cyanogen ROM had this set like that. Never made any sense.
The exact same thing is happening to me in Lancaster, CA. I get 150-200kbps down on edge and for the last few day on 3g I'm only getting 50kbps down... on top of my gps not working and noone knowing a fix I'm starting to wish I had bought an iPhone...

I suggest you try eViL D FroYo ROM. It comes with the build.prop tweak. With stock Froyo you need to add it on. Not sure if it makes a difference, I didn't notice any when I did it. But you got nothing to lose if you try.

So been reading through a few comments posted around the web and seeing that some users, like me, dont think autokiller is working correctly with Kaos froyo. My phone still gets sluggish until I kill some proc like before when I had autokiller installed on a 2.1 based ROM. I have already emailed the dev asking but waiting to hear back. Wanted to know if any of you guys can confirm this or not. Thanks
I'm not quick sure if it is working or not, but I do know that after a reboot that you have to configure the settings again, even though you have autokiller set to start up on boot.

I have it set as aggressive, I get decent battery life. If I have reception (at work, Im in a server room so battery dies very fast since no reception) I can go a full day with decent use.
As for my next release, I am planning to release it after Kaos updates his release. It wont be much as I am trying to keep it nice and clean but more blue through out it and a few new icons. Patience my child.

Don't overclock, and generally don't do things until you understand what you're doing. Return to the regular build of CM6 by flashing it through recovery. It won't erase your data.

i could show the power of nexus one to iphone fans.
The phone loaded settings and calendar very fast.
It always does. I don't think this 10% boost suddenly turned it into super-duper-lightning-fast?
why the hell its only 10percent, while evo 4g with same proccessor almost 30%.
You need to push overclock to 1267 MHz for it to be ~30%. Easy math. 1113 / 998 ~= 1.10 ~= 10% overclock.

There's a word for that: MOAR.
In most contexts, this word means that someone wants "more" of some random thing for no reason or for a nonsense reason. Except when paired with bacon. MOAR BACON is acceptable.
MOAR GIGGITYHURTZ, not acceptable.
default CM6 kernel allows you the OC to 1113.
yes ty! I can over clock it without that stupid kernel,
Why can't I overclock my nexus to 1.3 when you can with dvi 4h
To stop wasting everyone time just update to a latest kernel by pershoot or be on the original cm kernel. Both are almost same n both overclock
Heya Folks,
I followed the instructions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...43&postcount=1 and applied them to the services.jar from the latest build of MIUI.
See the attached flashable .zip file. I strongly suggest making a nandroid backup due to this being my first attempt at doing this. It booted just fine on my device.
Let me know if it works!

I think a bit of clarity is needed here. This mod will only stop Verizon from slowing down your data speeds.
It will NOT help you avoid overage charges.
For example let's say you're on a 250mb a month plan. This mod only ensures that you will get 250mb at unrestrcited speeds. Going over 250mb will still result in an overage charge.
Also, the reason people keep referring to 5gb on their "unlimited" plan is because Verizon starts to throttle data speeds after 5gb of data. That doesn't mean you get charged more, Verizon just slows you down. This mod will prevent that, and only that.
I hope that clears things up.

Heya,
Only way to test would be to run a speedtest.net over your 3g connection before and after flashing. My 3G sucks here so I can't really test it. I followed it step by step going off of the instructions however.
Just curious if anyone tested this? I know the zip works just curious if anyone has played around with it. My 3g sucks where I live so I feel it isn't an accurate test here

So can this be flashed to any rom? I have a droid x and I am using the Liberty rom.
No, it is ROM specific.
I tried this patch on 1.1.7 N1 services.jar and got a FC in settings>system>Mobile Network settings. Does a similar thing happen on 12.24 Dinc?
No, this particular thread only worked for 12.24 for the incredible...

No, because there is no difference and flashing this on any rom does nothing but break your one settings menu as mentioned.
As has been previously stated this feature is not actively used by verizon, if it was used you would see a notification icon in regards to it when it is enabled as that is part of the code.
This feature was built by google as an option for carriers should a large majority of customers use android devices, but the bottom line is if vzw wants to throttle your data they do it at the account/network level. Not on your device. Any improvement people report from making this change is a complete placebo / fluke or just a fluctuation in their signal quality / network congestion at the time.
Hi, there!
Before I get started here, let me apologize if this subject has been covered before. I can't seem to get the forum keyword search function to return any results--at all- and I don't have time to read pages and pages of threads to find what I'm looking for. If there is a better place for this, please let me know.
I'm new to the Nook Color, and I'm running CM7 nightly release from 07/02/11. I love it, but I have some questions and a comment.
When the app drawer is open and you long-press an icon, it used to put a shortcut to that app on the homescreen. now it brings up this weird little submenu... What exactly does, "Choose Catalog", mean and what does it do for us? I REALLY miss that long-press to add shortcut to homescreen thing. Is there a setting that I can change to re-enable it?
Is there a specific thread to use to give feedback and ask questions about the nightlies' that is for the Nook Color only? I saw one for the nightlies, but it seemed that it was mostly irrelevent to us since all manner of devices--includung phones-- were being discussed.
I've just been using the CM7 nightly releases with Google Apps installed. Am I missing something by not installing Dalingrin's clockwork mod kernel? I was afraid that it was a replacement--not an addition-- for the CM7 nightly build. Should I install it? I'm sure I'd like to overclock my Nook to over a gigahertz, but I wouldn't like losing the stability and fumctionality of the nightly build I'm using.
Thanks in advance for any assistance y'all can offer.
Looks like the launcher is sorta corrupt. Try a different launcher that will work. Go Launcher EX (free) on the Market. Launcher Pro Plus is the best I think but it costs a little amount. Oh, but if you want to really stick with the stock launcher, go into Settings>Applications>All>ADW Launcher. And uninstall it. Then re-flash CM7 Nightly + Gapps and it should be restored.
First... on the launcher screen... use menu... more.... make sure homescreen is not locked.... Then it will do as you're used to regarding placing on launcher screen.
Actually... you don't have to unlock desktop... just wiggle finger when the menu you are talking about is up.... you will have to unlock desktop to move the item or delete it if you want.
Now I will edit this to answer more... just wanted it posted before you did anything as drastic as replacing or reinstalling your launcher...
The CM7 user thread in the Nook Color section is a great place for discussing all things NookColor CM7 related.
What the catalog does is....
You can place apps in a catalog... then when you're in app drawer then the left and right app launcher buttons turn to < >... use them to move between catalogs... ALL apps will still show everything... but in each catalog will show only the apps you add to it... so you can create a catalog called "Utils" and place all the Nook Color and CM7 utilities in it... scroll to is and ONLY those apps will show on the screen.
As for Dalingrin's OC kernel... if you're not using it and his NookTweaks... you are TRULY missing out... STRONGLY encouraged to use them.
Oh and don't OC past 1.2 GHz in NookTweaks.... it will give you SOD every hour.
Thanks for the quick response. I didn't know about the long-press-and-wiggle technique, and it worked like a champ.
Do I have to start over to install Dalingrin's mod? Does it replace this operating system entirely?

Well, when I went any higher than 1.2 GHz, I got sod every other hour. When I clocked up to 1600 Mhz, the thing got SOD like every 5 minutes.
EDIT: @PoisonWolf, do you know how to get up to 1.6 GHz no SOD? I would love to be faster than the Flyer... which is double the price.

Anyway, even though I'm using Dalingrin OC 063001 version and nookcolortweak installed, I cannot ever seen any option to overclock greater 1200MHz, how do you guy get up to 1.3GHz, left alone 1.6GHz? What kernel do you use?

Well, to be able to get up to 1.6ghz, that is really the luck of the draw. I would gather that the manufacturing process is not perfect and not all chips can achieve such speeds. If anything, I would imagine there to be a range on the "limits" of these chips.
I found out that mine was 1350 mhz. No matter what I did, anything higher than that resulted in clunky responses, choking, skipping, etc.
I was hoping I'd get something in the 1.5 ghz range, but ah well.
Thus, I now run it at 1.3 ghz ondemand!
Just tinker around with the combinations / voltages / governors to see what your true limitation is. While you are doing this, do NOT set anything ON BOOT.
