I'm currently using miui 1.8 and the android keyboard is terrible on it. I've downloaded Go Keyboard but it's still not very good and has a slow response, although it's better than stock. my question is does anyone know of a good keyboard to use with miui or how to fix this problem? Greatly appreciated Thanks

my favorite keyboard is swift key. after awhile it can predict your whole conversation
Smart keyboard is also another. Has a decent size keypad and can be themed easily from there website forum.

swiftkey takes it.
Swiftkey is the god of keyboards!

Flext9 isn't bad but after a while it starts to act up. Might want to look into either that or swype 3.7.

There was a beta version of the new swiftkey a few weeks ago but they shut it down. The only thing close to that would be A.I. type beta. However, its not as intuitive as swiftkey. Unless you want to pay for swiftkey or flexT9, I would recommend just downloading the new swype 3.7 from the forum

I agree with you.
I feel SKP is also faster.
Smart keyboard pro is where its at! Swift key is alrite but nowhere near as good as smart keyboard in my opinion. Different strokes for different folks i guess
There is a new miui keyboard hasn't been integrated into Rom yet looks good and its themeable

Thanks for this suggestion. I was using swiftkey trial and was about to buy it until I tried smart keyboard! Love it! And there are tons of options that allow you to make it pretty much perfect for you liking. Plus the skins.
SwiftKey. It's definitely worth the price.
I really like the new Ice Cream Sandwich keyboard. It would be cool if the devs could some how port it to other roms
I love A.I. Keyboard, its really smooth

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up on this app!. Costs $.99 cents now and adds the Palm Pre like wave bar/quick app launcher!
It doesn't replace your current launcher and could be accessed from any app! Just swipe from the bottom of your screen to the middle and thats it! Its really nice
(Thanks to Android Central for writing on it).

Ugly? How is it ugly lol.
For those of you that HAVEN'T bought it yet- it's today's free app at the Amazon App store.
This is one of those apps that once you've had it you can't go without it. I really like the new app drawer plug-in which brings up your whole app drawer over any currently running application.
Everytime I try to buy it via Bill My Sprint account, it gives me an error. And this was going to be the 15th app I buy via Bill My Sprint account.

great app! got if for free from amazon - now just waiting for them to catch up to the current version in the android market
I use it together with swypepad
One launcher from each direction of the screen edges and dock4droid on top or bottom of screen
Think sypepad might be the winner even if its not shapped like a "wave"
Cool. Nice apps!
Great recommendation! Ever since I became more than just a lurker on this board my wallet has gotten much lighter. Thank you for that
Edit: Its making tasker act crazy so I got a refund. Anyone else experience this?
I think Swipepad does the same, but better and looks way better.
is there a keyboard skin for Android that looks EXACTLY like WP7 keyboard? by exactly i mean that theres no small letters on top of the big letters on each key.
I want to know aswell.
Try smartkeyboard and choose either the black/white skin.

Aye lass. Each to thine own
I personally love MIUI - best of what iOS should've been but... its ANDROID!
I love the music player, browser, widgets, and over all customization you get with it.
Not to mention I like the general layout and options - you can tweak just about everything in it.
I like the lockscreens - you get a ton of different options.
Not to mention the theme the community puts out.
The only thing I don't like (at no fault to MIUI) is I take a hit in battery life.
What kernel are you using? How do you use your phone?
What keyboard do you guys use? I personally use swype, it is the best keyboard when single handed. I know some of you like slideit but swype is completely free, and all features are available in the free version.
Your vote is much appreciated.

Yes third party keyboards do take some ram, that is why I almost only flash roms that support bigmen. casual use slow down is minimum, and again, ICS performance IS improving, although we may never reach the degree of fastness on gb, it's getting close.

After using SlideIT I can't go back to typing, swiping is so much easier and faster. I also like the free skins. Even though Swype may be better I acquired SlideIT when it was free and it has been great for me.

Swiftkey for me!
I always used swype, and I loved it, until I first used swiftkey, who had the best predictions I've ever seen. Since that day I always used swiftkey, I have even tested swiftkey 3 beta, and it is awesome, but still a little bit unstable on my device. Can't wait for the official release.
