Someone needs to put all these posts in order! and first of all establish a filing system! tags(well who puts tags?? maybe forced tick boxes) or brackets or something that will make it easier to find stuff!
That being said, can someone please point me to the official froyo for galaxy s? I cannot make kies work for some reason and I need to do it manually.
I have froyo but is either ****ed up, or beta, or something, cause it crashes like hell! Baseband version is I9000xxJP2
While you are at it, a guide on what is JPM, JP2, JP♥, etc is would be nice!
Thanks!
EDIT: I found one guide for installing 2.2 on the galaxy here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818556
Also try this website: http://www.samfirmware.com which has all the "official" firmware for Galaxy.
Still it would be nice to know about all the JP*versions...
There is no official froyo as yet. JPM and JP6 were briefly released earlier this month but they are by no means complete and still seem to have a number of issues. Samsung said that a new super fast official froyo release will be with us sometime in November. If you're brave enough you can try one of the releases available, I did recently, but I've gone back to JM1 that was supplied on my phone.
I know its an annoying and long wait but with any luck this will give Samsung the chance to get it right

Oh well, I thought the stuff they put up on their site was the official thing, and everyone is saying that they are rolling out froyo for the past couple of weeks...
it is VERY annoying, especially with all the good modders and coders that are around in xdadevs, and to be honest they prolly can build a froyo version much faster and cleaner than the "official" one....

Umm.. You do realise the modders here mostly take the Samsung code and enhance it right? Modding ROM's is a lot more difficult then writing/maintaining them (remember, the modders don't touch the drivers).
The situation does suck, but I actually respect many companies which delay releases more than those that don't. Because those that consistently deliver on schedule, often deliver their software with MAJOR issues (issues which may even require hardware to be returned for repair)
You can find here, on my PC:
c:\Users\Developer_007\.android\Froyo
FroYo for unbranded phones should be here early November. For carrier models Samsung have stated by the end of November. All we can do is play the waiting game. It gets delayed, delayed and delayed. Will probably get delayed till November, who knows?
Where you get information about november? Prooflink please!
It was posted on the Samsung Mobile UK twitter page - Link
Out in Japan?
Actually, the recently released Japanese Galaxy S seems to come with froyo...

Not overenthusiastic about Froyo.
Galaxy Tabs was released in Thailand a few weeks ago with official Froyo, played with it. The performance is subpar.

From what I've read there's a possibility the Japanese SGS is running slightly different hardware, has built in TV receiver and something different with the camera too
From Samsung UK on facebook 2 minutes ago
"We know you are all eagerly awaiting the Froyo updates, and we appreciate your patience. The network testing of the Galaxy S Froyo upgrade is proceeding according to the schedule we released last week (we expect all UK customers to receive their upgrade by the end of November). We can confirm that the software we’re working on includes a solution to the Froyo Android Market issue which has been widely discussed."

So, another month of waiting. Fantastic.
I'm curious if this will be also the case for the rest of Europe?
They just replied to a customer asking when in November and they said
We're releasing Froyo from the beginning of November and we're expecting all networks to have it by the end of November. The key benefits of Froyo will include Google maps with navigation, as well as improved browser performance.
In Singapore too. Samsung Singapore has said that they are almost done with the froyo 2.2 and it should be release on schedule! =)

impuscate
Prob not.
Remember they have released loads of updates in different countries already and that's what it means I think.
If it was GB they would have updated the spec and there would be much more press coverage via tech sites / their own twitter feeds etc
A V10E has been released in Hong Kong so it's still Froyo.
Ok... I am back to waiting position
very funny
I received the picture below .... 2 minutes ago ...
The problem is not that the servers... not working right now for some reason... but people at LG believe that today we are in July ...
very very funny
People from LG .... wake up! we are already in the month named August (08)
my coutry will get gb in october
in america, europe maybe september not sure about the date
"We’ve just got a word from the official LG Optimus PH facebook page regarding the release of the official Gingerbread update for LG Optimus 2x and Optimus One.
According to LG Optimus PH, The official Gingerbread update will be going live from early October while Optimus One users should be able to download and install the Gingerbread update starting early September. Read the official announcement after the break.".
Source: http://www.techsterr.com/2011/08/of...-for-lg-optimus-2x-and-optimus-one-announced/
So October is is then. I am kinda disappointed by LG (again!) that they missed a September release. But better later than never.
Well, i already have an optimus one that i have updated to the official gingerbread several weeks ago.
But talking with LG support few minutes ago (in France), they told me that the gingerbread upgrade for 2x is planned in last quarter of 2011. So might as well be october.
Yet another post from LG on facebook claiming the update is coming - hopefully this one is true and we can finally get the update!! Think I am going to give them until october to get it out and then just put a custom GB update on it - Getting fed up with LG now!!
I hope it stayes on October.
We should normaly get it Juni/Juli.
i dont care anymore, MIUI/CM7/Modaco is gonna own GB official rom
Hahaha riiiiiiight. LG will respect this dead line for sure! No WAY they would miss this one...right?....right? I mean it's not like they missed deadlines 3 times in the past...right?
CM7 is far better than anything LG can cough out. Try CM7 and then delete this thread.
Cheers
cm7 doesn´t suppurt a2dp and fm radio.
maybe you can´t believe, but there might be people who care bout that...
Well, at least I wanne test it and decide than.
Any new word on 5.1.1 and bug fix update coming to the LG G4? Its constantly freezing, touchscreen doesn't always recognize touches.

Doubt they will do 5.1.1.. Mostly likely the G4 will get M a cpl of months before they release the G5
If LG wants to give us 5.1.1 that is fine. To be honest LG absolutely has to release an update at least to fix existing bugs. If issues/bugs are resolved, I think we can live with Android 5.1 until Android M arrives.
I'd rather just see a bug fix, I held onto KK for the longest time until I upgraded from the G2 to this. The touchscreen and Bluetooth drops are rough

If their track record is anything like it was with the G3, then I agree with you sir. LG and their lack of timely nearly ruined the experience for me.
Majority of the issues with this phone seem to be rooted in the software so hopefully they at least release a meaningful update to address those in the wake of 5.1.1.
Anyone receive the mysterious ota that sprint was supposed to roll out a few weeks back?
Disappointed that LG went from no lollipop updates, to weekly updates(after stage fright) back to no real updates until M.
I had a notification to install the OTA last night
Just saw the change log. Not too much. It seems to be more of a 3rd party app update and potentially locking the camera down more for rooting. I'll know more when it reaches us.
Still bothered that all the other big players have 5.1.1 and stage fright fixes, while LG has opted to once again go with a new version of Android instead of going with a more reliable patched version. I'm happy we will see M, but probably never any major updates to it.
Oh is there any more information available regarding LG or Sprint plans to update the LG G4 to Android M, or at least where could I read more about this?
There are quite a few but here is the gist, http://www.techtimes.com/articles/6...droid-5-1-1-lollipop-update-for-android-m.htm

The way LG does things we usually don't see the .x updates. For example 5.1 to 5.1.1. But they still roll the fixes within the version. So the fixes promised by Google in 5.1.1 are present in the ZV6 update:
Memory leak ✔
Play services & Location batt drain ✔
Security fixes ✔
Performance lag free ✔
