Hi folks, can someone give me a guide to setting up MMS over GPRS on the XDA 2i - I have a orange PAYG sim.
I have contacted orange and got GPRS and MMS enabled on the SIM and received the update via a text message.
I have entered the details found on sites such as http://www.filesaveas.com/mms.html
However I found 4 different settings from different sites - so hoping someone can confirm which is right - the main conflict on the sites i found is port number most don't specify a port but I do that it defaults to 0!
Anyway I seem to be able to connect to GPRS, says connected ok however I can't send MMS it just says sending..
Thanks in advance
Update
Actually found an excellent article here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=7306
Only one slight problem for me is I still can't send MMS - WAP and GPRS internet no probs- but with MMS just stays sending....
Not sure if its because of the port settings, the XDA 2 as mentioned in the above article doesn't have the option to enter a port in the MMS settings.
On my XDA 2i you have too, so I am using port 80.
My mms setup is as per article accept I am added port 80
Any ideas??
YOu may need to get Orange to enable MMS I had teh same on o2 and once called them found that MMS hadn't been enabled
Pretty much what I thought!
Yeah I kinda come to the same conclusion everything looks right to me - but before I spend another 20 minutes listening to hold music i thought I'd check.
Ill give them another call and see if they have actually enabled MMS like they said they have!
Cheers
Port number is.....
Ok folks I now have it working - the port number is 9201 and it works perfectly now!
So that port 9201 for orange MMS service everything else is in the article in the above link
Ok so I had to do a factory reset on my nexus for an unrelated reason. I am on the web2go data plan and I had my apn settings for data and another for mms. Everything was working fine until I did the reset. I entered the same settings and now I cant send or receive any mms's. Here are my settings for my mms:
Name: T-Mobile US-MMS
APN: epc.tmobile.com
APN type: mms
Everything else is set to default. This kinda sucks because some long text messages that I send or receive are converted to mms. So any help on how to get my mms back. I would feel cheated having a superphone with no mms *cough iphone <3.0 cough*
I had a stock Nexus One ROM and then flashed the Desire one... since I've flashed my MMS has not been working either... and I definitely have the correct APN settings, I've tripple checked it!
Problem solved. I forgot to put default as apn type for data access.
Above do you have the same settings above as mine? Also did you try reboot? Was mms fine before you flashed rom?
My settings are different as I'm using Vodafone NZ but I've looked up the information and I'm 100% sure I've got it correct... Are you saying your MMS didn't work until you changed the APN type for your data APN to default??
And yeah I was able to PXT and 3G when I first got my Nexus One, after I flashed the Desire ROM I lost 3G and PXT... When I set the correct APN I managed to get 3G working but still no MMS
I am having the same issues on tmobile us. I can not get the pictures to download. Before I had some settings wrong, after fixing them I do not get the error anymore, but I do not get to download the message. Anyone have any ideas or solutions yet??? I am using Modaco Aplha 19

What about sending MMS? If I try to send an MMS it just sits there loading forever and never sends (This is using handcent) and when I try to download an image it just says downloading forever... :/
I'm relieved to hear someone else has a similar issue on Alpha 19.. Means its more likely to be a software issue and not something to do with my provider !
guys - you'll probably get more help if you search/post your issue in the MoDaCo Alpha 19 thread vs. starting a new one. this - unfortunately - is a common issue with this version of the ROM. it seems to be an inconsistent issue as well; sometimes i can send/receive without a problem other times i can't.

Have you tried the HTC connection setup app on the marketplace?
that won't help as it uses the settings sent out from the network, giffgaff you have to manually set them and as per the Anyone managed to send an MMS yet thread there are no manual setting entry points
hey,
just got it all working, used HTC Connection setup again, making sure i selected giffgaff and all works, i have sent and received mms with no probs!! didnt even have to reset the phone!
Did you unlock your phone, or is it still locked to O2 using giffgaff? I only ask as I'm on giffgaff, and while the connection setup tool has internet data working fine, I can't send or receive mms, just says "cannot send, try again?" whenever I try.
I've been able to get it now receiving MMS it would appear, but still says can't send message whenever I try to send one. Just thought, do you need credit (other than a goodybag) in your account to send it - would it say cannot send if there was no credit and so the network refused?
Right ignore me (I think I'm gabbling to myself anyway!) it was because I had a goodybag but no actual credit, and since MMS are not included in goodybags, it wouldn't send. Just topped up some credit and went through no problem
Just tried but didn't work.
Called O2 looks like there is only provisioning for data networks not MMS APNs
When you try to add an APN you get three fields
APN :
User name:
Password:
Tried putting the O2 settings in with O2 second line support and nope can't be done as no server address etc is available .
Anyone else managed to send an MMS ? Apparently some people on O2 cant even send texts due to software problems with this phone .
i've recieved an mms, not tried sending one though.
Can confirm that MMS is both receiving and sending as well as SMS

looks like giffgaff uses could be stuffed as it works here too, though doesn't sending a text saying 'Settings' to 2020 on giffgaff get the settings sent to the phone?
or could try the htc connection setup from the market that may get the settings for you
MMS & text working fine for me.
the op should try the HTC Setup App from the hub, select the giffgaff settings ok it all and then powercycle the phone, hopefully that should work.
Can someone please give me their or tell me what settings they have at the bottom under edit or add APN in the |Network setup as I've tried both hard reset used GiGaf and O2 Pre and Post pay settings
Thanks
Hey,
I can confirm all is working now, i am able to send and receive mms on my giffgaff sim, some reason i just had to use the htc connection setup again, selecting giffgaff and it worked fine. Didnt even have to reset the phone!!
Ok , Hard reset the phone twice and now its working .
Seems something is not quite right here but it works now
What APN settings are people using with the AT&T branded Note 3 on Straight Talk? I just bought a new AT&T micro sim from Straight Talk that supposedly allows LTE to work. Please let me know the least restrictive APN settings that works for both LTE and MMS

I'm getting about 18 down on Straight Talk LTE in SLC. For some reason it's consistently 8 Mbs faster than my LTE LG E980 G Pro.
My settings screen shots are attached...

Those appear to be the stock ST settings from the ST website. I am unable to send/receive MMS with those settings. I have tried about a dozen other settings from users who are able to MMS, but none work for me.
I called ST and spoke to three escalating levels of tech support managers over a 58 minute call. None of them were able to help, although one told me my account settings were wrong on their end. The last one told me that they do not guarantee MMS service, and I would only get it if I was near one of their (Straight Talk) towers. I was unaware that they had their own towers. She also told me the N3 does not have the capability to MMS, and that I need a "more advanced" device.
With the HUGE number of N3 users having MMS problems on ST, I am beginning to think ST is limiting MMS to conserve band width. I actually lost the ability to send/receive MMS about 3 weeks before I purchased my N3 while I was still on my N1. That's why I think it is ST. Just my opinion though.

I haven't even tried MMS on my Note 3 yet. So many of the people I communicate with are on Hangouts or FB Messenger I rarely use text anymore. I'll have my old lady send me a MMS text and see what happens. Hopefully MMS issues will be cleared up if Google hopefully integrates Hangouts and MMS here *soon*.
MMS worked on my Note 2 and LG G Pro. I didn't switch to the new tfdata apn sim till about 2 months ago when they launched the LTE service. I have received MMS on my G Pro with that newer SIM.

I've tried a ton of different APN settings I've found on the internet. Nothing has fixed/enabled downloading of MMS.
Everything else works though... I can send MMS and download speeds are great.. just can't download MMS no matter what. The old HSPA sim card worked perfectly though, but I'm not giving up LTE for MMS.
I've tried calling Straight Talk and nothing has helped, they basically told me the device I have isn't guaranteed to get all the features and that it may be my phone that has the problem.
Try leaving the proxy blank. I did this and it seems to be working fine.

Thanks for this suggestion, but....it did nothing to help my lack of mms-ability. I really think ST or att is blocking us as this lack of mms started for me about a month before I got my N3. That correlates with a new att 4g tower installation in my small rural town. Prior to that we were on 2g and I was able to SLOWLY send/receive mms. After the new tower...nothing.
Sms works with all the different apn settings I have tried including this one suggested by enigma2446. Sms even works with the stock att apn while using my ST sim card!

What do you have in the mms proxy?
Try putting in this 66.209.11.33 or 66.209.11.34
< Coming to you live from the planet One X >
mms3.tracfone.com
I've tried both of the 66.209..... before and neither worked for me. It makes no difference what I put in, no mms. It just stopped suddenly the day my N1 went from a 2g to a 4g signal. ST tells me both the N1 and N3 are not mms capable. That's bs as my N1 sent/received mms prior to that signal change. Its not my N3. Its att and ST!

Ok try
If data or MMS don't work try using 216.155.165.40 in the proxy and MMS proxy fields
Also here is some troubleshooting brain fuel

Also under network mode in mobile data what is it set to..... gsm/wcdma?
< Coming to you live from the planet One X >
This is what worked for me before I left Straight Talk.
Name: straight talk
APN: att.mvno
Mmsc:mms-tf.net
Proxy:mms3.tracfone.com

I've been google searching this for 3 weeks. 216.155.165.40 didn't fix things. I don't have [email protected]/wcdma setting option under mobile data. Only an on or off checkbox for mobile data. In the *#*# settings it is set for LTE/GSM. I have seen screenshots of the mobile data settings and thought it strange I don't have that option.
Thanks for all of your help!

I FIXED IT!!! I unfroze stock Messaging app and sent mms with it instead of Handcent. I can send and receive mms now, but I have to send through Messaging only. I can receive through both. I don't understand why. I'm just happy it works. Using ST stock APN settings.

Straight Talk MMS Solution (WORKS FOR ME)
Okay...I feel like a dumba$$ posting this. But if it helps someone else then I won't be as embarrassed
First, the solution: If you are using any messaging app other than the stock apk, make sure you enter the MMSC, MMS Proxy, MMS Port settings WITHIN THE APP YOU USE.
Now, My excuse: I have used Handcent SMS for several years in multiple devices (Dell Streak 5, SG Note (1), and this SG Note 3. The Note 3 is the only device that did not automatically use the device APN settings for sending MMS. I never had any trouble until the last month on my N1. That was about the time att upgraded its towers in my town, and when I updated the Handcent apk to Handcent 5. From that point on, I have been unable to send or receive MMS. I have spent countless hours trying different APN settings and searching for solutions. Two days ago, I discovered that I could send MMS from the native Messaging app (I froze the native apk immediately after rooting my N3 without trying it first), but not from any other app (Textra, Chomp, Handcent, 8sms.....). Today, I re-installed Handcent and went through every setting. I entered the MMS settings WITHIN Handcent and gave it a try. IT WORKED!!! I also tried it with 8sms and was successful. I then re-froze the native apk and the other messaging apps still work!
I have never been able to send/receive mms this quickly. As I said in the title, FOR ME, this solves my mms problems completely. I wish I would have gone through ALL of the Handcent settings from the beginning. I know...STUPID!!!

Thanks for the update krazman. I am having few issues with my N3 APN settings, 4G is not working properly. Can you please share what APNs you are currently using? maybe few screenshots?
Much thanks in advance!
I am using the stock Straight Talk apn settings from the ST website. I never had internet problems. Only messaging app problems. Are you in the USA and on Straight Talk? If Yes, see the ST website. If No, the ST settings will create further problems for you.

Perfect. I just updated my setting with the following from ST's website for Galaxy Phones. Works flawless so far.
APN Settings
FIELD SETTINGS
NAME STRAIGHT_TALK
APN att.mvno
MMSC (i get blocked by xda, please see ST site for this one)
MMS PROXY 66.209.11.33
MMS PORT 80
MMS_APN att.mvno
A co-worker just picked up a Note3 (off contract) and grabbed a ST sim. All I did was use the ST APN that I had in my Note 2. Working great and slamming 4G. Didn't need to adjust the proxy settings. Just throwing this out there...
So you guys are getting LTE with the att.mvno APN? These are with new SIM's labeled for LTE. My LTE sim won't even work unless it's on tfdata. Interesting.
How fast is it? Most people on the tfdata APN are getting sub 20 down. In the same area people on a GoPhone sim will get 30+.
