[Q] voicemail notification doesnt go away (AT&T) - LG Optimus 2x

Hi,
I have O2X, UK or EU version (not very sure but somewhere in Europe, definitely non-US), unlocked. and I am using it on AT&T network in US.
The problem I have is that the voicemail notification never goes away even if there is no message in voice mail box.
The only way to remove the notification is that I need to move my SIM to other old AT&T phone, record a dummy voicemail, and delete. Once the notification goes away from the AT&T phone, I can move the SIM back to my O2X. Then, O2X also clears up the notification. But if there is any new voicemail, it never goes away from O2X again....
So, I have to do the cumbersome process again and again...
Looks like there is something different in the voicemail protocol in Europe and AT&T. If there is anyone knows how to correct, please help me to fix this problem.
Thank you very much!

hmmmm....no voicemail....

I got everything working the way I want on my new Tilt. I already created a thread about email not working and I have already been helped on that one (thanks again).
Since then, I decided to use a new rom (Schaps WM6Pro Kaiser 4.21 WWE Full). I am really liking it.
First thing I noticed is that AT&T's Media NET connection was no more, it showed up as CingularGPRS. Although all the settings were right and I think I have everything setup right (data works great, SMS/MMS, incoming/outgoing email, incoming/outgoing phone calls).
But the voicemail isn't working. Phone rings about 12 times, and instead of going to vmail, the caller gets a "The cellular customer you are trying to reach is unavailable, please try your call again" message.
If I press ignore on the phone, the caller gets a busy tone.
I tried searching (really, I did) and didn't find anything.
Any ideas on how to set up voicemail?
Thanks in advance for any help.
My VM got messed up after AT&T renewed my contract and updated my account. Call customer support, I called them last night.
Voicemail is a carrier issue unless you have the wrong number set to dial your voicemail??

I would have no idea what number its supposed to dial.
But thanks for the help, I will give AT&T support a call and have them fix it.
BTW, is this something I did by messing with the phone, or was it probably not set up from the get go? i picked up the phone a few days ago and never received a voicemail and only found out today because a friend called and got that weird message so he texted me instead. Just dont want them accusing me of any
I have the same problem when ignore (red button) a incomming call.
It works good when I don't pick up, then it goes to voicemail after 30 seconds, but when I push the red button it give a busy tone...
Does someone know a sollution for this?
I have the right number in the voicemailbox settings...

Voicemail tape icon stuck and will not clear

I swapped sim cards a few days ago, and the simcard had no credit, but had a voicemail.
I have since swapped back to my original sim card and cannot get the icon to go away, I have tried leaving a voicemail on the original sim card, but it still will not dissapear. Is there a reg fix to clear this?
Thanks
p.s ive tried the usual resets.
Haven't had this happen on my Tilt, but did on my last phone on Sprint (not sim card related). I ended up having to leave myself a new voice mail, then call in and listen to it and delete it.
Also, I found on Sprint that if I deleted a message and hung up before the icon cleared, it sometimes stayed on. Doesn't happen on my Tilt on AT&T, but I mention it in case it affects someone else.
This normally means that your voicemail box is full. try deleteing all of your messages and see if it goes away. Otherwise what I ended up doing is calling my service provider (Orange) and ask them to reset my voicemail. They do this by sending a sim update.
Hopefully this will solve your problem.
Jay
excellent, found it!
My voicemail on the new sim didnt have voicemail alert enabled. now I have enabled it with no messages, it has cleared.
Thanks all!

Reject calls with text message not working

In the phone options under the advanced Tab there is the option to reject calls and generate an automatic text message; has anybodt got this to work? It simply does nothing for me. Thanks.
Anybody have this issue?
Can somebody confirm that the reject calls text message generate function works on the Diamond......Mine does not and I'm wondering is there a Registry switch. Thanks.
just trying it now, but seems just to send it to the voicemail instead. Maybe we need to turn voicemail divert off first?
would try that, but for some reason, t-mobile doesn't seem to want to let me turn my diverts off!!
Anyone on another network care to try??

How do you turn diverts off??...cant seem to find anywhere in the phone that gives you that option ie options like when busy divert calls, when out of range divert calls etc etc
start>settings>phone>services tab
highlight call forwarding and then tap the get settings button.
Voila, Call divert options

Thanks for that...would have never guessed it would be in there lol
Btw your right, i tried to disable the voicemail feature...and it didnt work...if i press the ignore button it diverts to the voicemail...hmmm strange...
i think we need someone not on t-mobile to try it. t-mo UK is a PITA when it comes to changing stuff like voicemail settings.
Don't still have my O2 sim so couldn't try that, and am working from home for a bit today so i'm kinda stuck.
Might ask one of the guys at work to try one of our other diamonds with an orange SIM and see if that does the trick....

Its strange because on my nokia n95 8gb phone i could easily turn my voicemail on and off whenever i chose.
I did notice after i had unticked the voicemail boxes...pressed ok then exited...went back into the phone settings and saw that the boxes were ticked....as i said its strange. Because sometimes i just want the caller to hear a busy tone or the reject tone...
Hopefully someone can try with a different sim and see what happens.
it could just be that T-Mobile don't like the commands coming from the windows mobile devices then. I've only been with t-mobile since i had WM devices - about 4 years now - and i never really bothered using my other devices on the network. I think i have an old Sony Z5 around somewhere, i might charge it up and turn the voicemail off with that and then see if that helps.

Could be.,..i dont know as the Diamond is my first WM device that ive been impressed with enough to keep it.
Might give tmobile a call later and see what they have to say about it. Although i dont think im going to have much luck as when i rung them uip about mms settings they said they dont support Diamond..so couldnt help me out there.
that sounds about right for T-mo customer services.
If you can get past the usual shower of muppets on first level and get through to the guys in advanced connectivity in Doxford or Greenock, they should either be able to help or refer you to someone who can....
If i have to call them now, i refuse to speak to the lower levels and ask straight for advanced connectivity. Last time i got through (back in the days when i had my magician), was cos they'd changed their MMS settings. Finally got through to AC and they had me sorted in under 2 minutes! it's just the call filterers on levels 1 and sometimes 2 that cause the problems usually.

I have flashed the German 1.93 update to my Touch Diamond without problems and the phone is working well -- however, I don´t have the "advanced" tab in the phone option!! (and before anyone asks, no I also don´t have the German "Erweitert" Tab there).
Anyone know what´s going on here?
I´d like to turn off the short vibration the phone makes when a call is established.
Thanks // Tom

not getting any voicemail notifications on my OnePlus 3T

I'm not getting notifications when I receive a voicemail. Everything seems to be set up properly, and I'm able to see and play my voicemail in visual voicemail, but no notification comes through on receiving a voicemail. If I reboot my phone when a voicemail is waiting for me, I do get a voicemail notification when the phone boots back up, but I don't get notifications for any subsequent voicemails (unless I reboot again).
Are others seeing this behavior? And does anyone have any clues what might be causing it?
Hmmm. I also have the same problem, i won't see the voicemail unless i reboot.
Hmm this happened to me once, thought it was a quirk. Not good...
T-Mobile if that matters. First slow LTE, now this. Ugh.
I'm on T-Mobile too. Stinger051, are you also? Maybe this is a T-Mobile specific issue? OnePlus didn't seem to have any clue about it.

There's a similar thread on the OP forums, but I can't recall if it was T-Mobile specific or if it was all kinds of carriers around the planet. If I find it again, I'll post a link. I'm on ATT and as far as I know (it's really tough to know things you don't know ), I'm not having the problem. In fact, I get double-notifications, one is the regular symbol (is it an infinity symbol?) for a message on my VM, and the other is the ATT VVM app symbol.
Now and then I don't get a "so&so called" notification along with it, but I always "seem" to get the VM / VVM symbols. When I listen to VM using the 1 on the keypad (now and then), I never find something I hadn't gotten a notification about so it "might" be carrier specific.
Sure enough, just found another voicemail I had no idea about.
I submitted a bug about this:

Is anyone else noticing this problem? If so, please add to the bug thread on the OnePlus forum.
How to get voicemail notification
Hi everybody. I figured out a fix. Even though I have spent a lot of time on OnePlus Chat, was told to wipe the phone, and spent a remote session with One Plus they could not figure out the issue. Simply turning off "Visual Voicemail" in the phone app completely fixed the problem (even though the OnePlus people told me to make sure it was on!). In the phone app, go to Settings, then Call settings, then select your SIM card (1 or 2), then Voicemail, then switch Visual Voicemail to off. You will get voicemail alerts normally, but now you will not have visual voicemail. There is a T-mobile Visual Voicemail app that you could try to use instead, though. Hope this helps

Problems with text and voicemail in Japan

So I'm traveling in Japan with my N6 on Sprint and can't seem to make text or voicemail work. I keep getting alerts that I have a voicemail, as well as texts from +9479 that only say @@, and warnings that my SIM card is full, though when I click on it, the messages is empty. It's getting really annoying, especially since every time it alerts, all three of those things go off and it buzzes constantly. People seem to be able to receive my texts, but I can't get them from anyone.
Any help would be much appreciated, as Sprint customer support basically told me to Google it for an answer...

You wont be able to really do anything about it. Japan has a completely different network setup then anywhere else in the world. I would advise getting a throw away device or maybe try a local sim card. Sprint to be honest is the worst carrier out of them all in the US let alone in Japan.
Maybe it's your APN settings? Since Softbank owns Sprint I thought I remember reading Sprint postpaid plans get free roaming in Japan. But maybe I'm wrong.

Anyone that uses roaming knows it really sucks. Let alone for sprint. Heck their signal sucks when it's local.
