I have asked them to have my phone replaced, and what they reply is that other manufacturer have that issue too.
Are they trying to compare with SGSII or iphone4 in screen quality things, why not with them? They dont have any screen bleeding issue, as much as whole right edge visible as a tubelight, and perfect white light.
Dear Mr. Bhanvadia,
thank you for contacting the service of LG Electronics Deutschland GmbH.
Unfortunately I have to tell you, that display bleeding is no reason for warranty repair.
This is a normal behaviour at poor lighting conditions. Devices of other manufacturers show the same effect.
For further questions or suggestions, please contact us again.
In this case, please transmit the previous correspondence.
With kind regards,
Daniel Müller

i got screen bleeding too,, but i can exchange my phone in my country ^^
What's the problem?
All LCD screens have screenbleeding. The iphone 4 has it (My mate's is worse than my O2x actually), my TV has it, my computer monitor has it, etc., etc.
Some O2x's have it worse than others, granted, but you bought a phone with an LCD screen, so you should have been expecting it.
Do you think/know if they will release LED screen phones???

Yes. They're called AMOLED screens, and they are quite common.

Yes, fully agree with this comment..
I have to say IPS is a 100 times better than any other AMOLED or SAMOLED. I had an SGS before, seen SGS2 and the colors are just oversaturated.
A good IPS display with decent resoultion can do miracles! I just wonder when are they going to put led backlight instead.

looks more sexy than the 2x
especially on the back, since im a woman, the back sight is important too
;-)
And since you are a woman, you are just looking on what you see and not what's inside
Well, it's indeed a nice phone but not as powerful as the x2.
hey its a very nice and sexy phone, i would recommend it since most people wouldnt really take full advantage of the dual core 2x.

Hahaha that was epic!
What I don't understand is that Optimus Black is supposed to have that great screen, with higher contrast and less energy consumption, so why wouldn't they use that screen in their flagship device (the 2X) ? I mean it's going to be really expensive anyway, so I might as well spend a bit more and have the best possible phone, including the screen.

I think so!!!
Because they need each phone to have a key selling point. That's why the 2x doesn't have this screen. Plus the 2x has an IPS thingie majigie screen. not as good as black's screen, S/amoled or retina, but it's right behind them.

Both of the LG's have IPS screens. Apple's Retina is also an IPS screen. The difference is that the black's is a more advanced IPS which is brighter. It's not really a concern for me, I think the 2X's IPS looks plenty bright enough.
I know apple's and black's screen is IPS. Just pointing out that the optimus 2x's screen isn't that bad.

Sure like Nokia they put a polarizing filter on it to make black more black. That's it.
Don't forget that iPhone Retina screen is made by LG. The OX2 has in essence the same screen as the iPhone but with lower pixel count.
Weird thing is that both LG and Samsung were a few years ago considered to be "the cheap koreans" and nowadays they're suposedly "high-tech". At least other suposedly better quality brands use their cheap parts in their upscale devices.
They're all ****ing us.

Nonetheless the cpu should be more then powerfull enough to run the full android experience. If the price is right then perhaps this might be the better option. Because the more I see (and hear) from the X2, the more it dissapoints :-(
I heard that Optimus Black will use OMAP 36~ Soc.
No matter how design is good or not, it sux.
OMAP 3xxx-5xxx has 2-channel memory and not bad architectures. Last series has DDR3 supporting.

I’ve a strange problem with the screen of my Note, I noticed this when switching off the phone in a complete dark room. The screen turns dark grey for a split second before switching off, this is when I noticed some strange black marks beneath the screen.
I made a jpeg to replicate this problem (1st attachment), along with a screen capture of the marks (2nd attachment). Can somebody please download the picture and check to see if there are any marks on their phone?
You need to be in a complete dark room for this to work, it helps if you turn the screen brightness to 100% and allow a bit of time for your eyes to adjust to the dark.
I also added roughly what the marks look like.
Many thanks
P.S. this does not affect the screen in normal use.
I have noticed that too....
Edit: forgot to mention that it does not affect usage in anyway

Why.....
SH!T, not this crap again. The Galaxy S2 has this at a greater extent, but I was LEAST EXPECTING this on the Note, especially since they JUST starting manufacturing this model. I don't even think the demand is as high as the S2. I'm having mixed thoughts now. Those marks are NOT normal.

hi...is your phone UK or EU version?
This is the biggest manufacturing defect of the season! Go to the Samsung Herculus (T-Mobile S2) Forum and you have over 500 users observing the same exact problem! Samsung is carelessly sealing the back of the AMOLED display panel, therefore you will see lines and blotches everywhere. This is absurd!

I guess it could be a problem, but to be honest with you, I don't have any interest in trying this.
Go to a completely dark room and turn the screen to 100% and look for defects? Uhh, what?
When I'm in a very dark room, I find 3% quite comfortable, thank you. (10% brightness * screenfilter (30%)

Hmmm.... so something that you can only see when you are switching the phone off in a completely dark room is "the biggest manufacturing defect of the season"???
I understand that when you drop hundreds of £s/$s/€s on something, you want it to be perfect, but something that can only be seen for a split second as you turn the phone off in very specific circumstances, scarcely warrants such a title in my opinion!
I can certainly think of worse - lightbleed on Asus Transformer, or Newtons rings/oil click on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 for example, which (if present) can be seen during use.
Regards,
Dave
I agree with foxmeister. Why try and find a fault when there's really no fault there!
So you've got dots on your screen when in a completely dark room, with screen set at 100%, that lasts for a second or two......so what! Don't sit and stare at your phone in the dark is the answer. Then the problem will go away.
Jeeez, some people are never satisfied or happy.

Thanks for the feedbacks, I have the EU version from amazon.de.
There is definitely a fault with either the screen or how it was put together, otherwise I'll not be able to notice it. Those marks does not show up on my Galaxy Tab 10.1, the original Tab or any my pervious mobile devices as far as I can remember.
I did note this don't affect the screen in normal use. Also the 100% brightness suggestion is to make the problem easier to spot, I normally have the screen at 5% in the dark, and we have no control over the brightness when the phone is switching off (when I noticed the marks).
I started this thread to find out what is the course of this problem and how widespread it is before deciding if I should send it back to Germany for a replacement/refund.
BTW, under EU consumer law, we have 21 days to return the device either for a refund or replacement from the seller, after that we might have to send the phone for repair.
Sounds like there is a manufacture defects with the EU version?!
Head over to the International Galaxy S2 and Galaxy S2 (T-Mobile) Forums and the answers behold. Hundreds of comments stating the same exact issue. I'm just surprised how this slipped into the SAMOLED HD display. I don't recall the original Galaxy S (which also had a Pentile Matrix) having such an issue, or did it?

I have a Galaxy S II, and regularly frequent those the international forum, and I've not seen this come up as an issue (though I don't disbelieve you that it probably does somewhere). I looked in the TMo US Galaxy S II specific forum and I did find such a thread, but I was unwillingly to pour through 50+ pages to see the final outcome as it was filled with people who have the issue, don't have the issue, or have the issue but don't care.
I've not noticed this issue with either my Note or my Galaxy S II, and I'm not going to go look for it in artificial environments that I'd typically never be using my device in.

According to the OP, on the Note, this only appears for a brief moment whilst the phone is being switched off in pretty much total darkness, so my point is - does it really matter?

Dave

The Note is going back to Amazon. I was able to see the some of the black marks against black border when watching film in the dark last night with the screen brightness of 5%.
I was going to keep it before it started to affect my normal use, lets hope the replacement has less or no marks.

I have/had a white one... On mine there were no probz at all.
However, i didn´t test it that crazy... No banding and no abnormal pixelation of the blacks atleast.
Atm it´s in for service... Had a complete crash... Maybe that will be the white version faults
^ What about the issue of faint horizontal and vertical lines especially on a white background at minimum / maximum brightness?
I have a white one as well. no problems at all

Have a White G NOTE ... no problems with the display!
^What is the Month of Import?
the white ones suffer from the same problems as the "blue" ones! seen two of them, both had the "classic" faults: one had a very strong tint which got worser on the right side of the screen, the other one was considerably darker and had a yellowish tint over the whole screen! both had the black clipping issue and cut the gamma test at 4 (in standard mode)!
VERY IMPORTANT:
i had a LOT notes so far, all of the screens were faulty to some extent. only 2 out of 14 had a correct (or at least much better) gamma calibration/value, but both of them had other severe problems (one side tint, unevenness)!
also to notice the "blotch errors" you have to display a black picture, go into a complete dark room, let your eyes accommodate and see for yourself!
AS LONG AS YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO COMPARE YOU WONT BE ABLE TO TELL IF YOU HAVE COLOR TINT (only if its really dramatic), I THOUGHT A FEW TIMES MY SCREEN IS NOW REALLY GOOD IN TERMS OF COLORATION, BUT EACH TIME I WAS ABLE TO OUTPERFORM IT DRAMATICALLY WITH AN OTHER DEVICE!!
SO: IF YOU THINK YOUR SCREEN IS FINE: DO NOT COMPARE!!!
otherwise you WILL get worried!!!
just my 2c...
have a white note from movistar in Spain and has the display and camera problems.

I think you are looking for a more objective reply rather than a subjective one, I recommend you stop your search for now and probably wait a few batches later.. Maybe 4-5 months from now? If the S2 was a sign of things to improve it really did after 6 months.
I'd figure since new models are set to release, Samsung must have already addressed the problems in the newer Note sooner than it did for the S2.

I was able to check 3 brand new white colored galaxy note from 3 different local shops and they have the video issues the same as mine which the store rep confirmed after we sent the file over and had them test in their storage room, which is my primary concern.
With just a quick glance, I can easily tell those units still show lines, dirty grey renderings and yellowish/greenish bottoms on the screen, this is with an objective result, subjectively the lines are not visible when viewing pictures of anything other then grey or browsing websites with brightness not lower than 2 notches.
I dont think they can or will address this as fast as the common screen issue everyone has is very subjective to the user and only those that are noticeable get returned, some insist on using a higher brightness just to cover it up.
Boycott Samsung 'till Further Notice, LOL
Sad to say, even the latest S2 display is better than the Note. The latest S2 batch corrects a lot of the problems that existed in prior batches. I've seen it myself; thats to easy to appreciate. Too bad Samsung doesn't give a damn about their own flagship products.
EDIT: @EarlZ, not a personal question, question to Samsung, Why would I want to conceal the problems that exist by decreasing the lifespan of my product; raising the display brightness will in turn reduce the lifespan of the AMOLED Screen, lol.
Its been like 3 months or less since it came out from the market so its a given that it will take a while to improve.. give it another 2-3 months more.

On a subjective side, you dont need to do anything special just use the phone how you would normally do and if you dont see anything that bothers you or any image abnormality then simply the issue does not exist on the phone, If your a new buyer just perform the things that you normally do and might do and from there draw your own conclusion, Like others I do not know the exact ratio of good to bad screens/phones but subjectively a majority of the phones should not have any issues on the screen.
If you want to perform something more objective you need to be more open to the methods, there like 3 active threads about it you can easily read up there.
I have a white note for the last 3 days, and due to a few threads about display and other problems, I have been especially looking out for them. but so far I cannot find a single problem with the display or any of the other problems that people have been complaining about.
It was bought from Amazon Germany and shows:
Android 2.3.6
baseband n7000xxla4
kernel 2.6.35.7-n7000xxla4-cl886827 [email protected] #2
build gingerbread.xxla4
If that is of any help to anybody.
But I'm not looking at it with one eye on the screen and one on a spectrometer
just my ol eyes, which to those it looks and works fantastic.
and also my 25 year old son, his eyes should be better than mine also says it looks fantastic to him, and will be getting one soon

Hi guys, Anandtech review for the oneplus 3 mentioned a poor display quality and a low brightness peak. I know most of them were mostly benchmarks and testing so I want to know how the display looks in person. How is the outdoor visibility and sharpness?

I still have my OnePlus One and I always thought of it being a very bright phone, one of the brightest I've had, but my OP3 is brighter than it... I never heard anyone complain about the OnePlus One's brightness. Also I'm not sure about the screen being physically of poor quality. It looks fine to me, some people say that it needs to be better calibrated, but that's an easy software fix.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk
The taste of the screens is a bit like design. Some people like oversaturated SAMOLEDs others like more natural colors. OnePlus said that the screen is last gen AMOLED of samsung. therefore ore it is easy to fix the screen with a good kernel which lets you tweak some settings other anandtech got a broken unit with a bad screen. All other revieuwers said that the screen is good, not outstanding but good. Only Anandtech did not like it.
My unit arrive tuesday, maybe I will post something.

It's funny the influence they have, reviews up-to this point have been positive about the display and after Anandtech post theirs, they all start pointing out the issues with the display.
This is precisely why reviews are generally BS.

Hi,
I have the OP3 for about 1 week now... Got it at the pop-up in Paris
I don't care about colour calibration, as long as it's not TOO obvious. And IT IS NOT on the OP3. Of course, if you compare it to another display directly, you might prefer that other one. And this is only a software problem, so a kernel with colour settings will allow you to change that !
As for the brightness, I was ready to send it back to One+. In sunlight conditions, if you got a dark screen, it was barely legible. But yesterday, One+ released new display drivers to the developer's community. I know a dev that is registered with One+. So he could make a build of it's ROM with those new drivers... It has to be confirmed in real life, but the increase of brightness seems to be really impressive ! I really thought that this would be a HARDWARE problem. But it seems I was worng, and that a SOFTWARE setting can take care of that
So I'd recommend to stay tuned
Regards.

I'm wondering whether led burning is still a problem. What is your experience on your amoled device? Are the new ones burn-free? Even after 2 years of use?
I think, it doesn't exist now.
Amoled burn-in still exists, but advancements in both the technology and production process has made it occur less often for consumers.
There are still other issues to think of other than burn-in that still exists in amoled displays today. Right now, Samsung produce the best amoled displays.

The use of a pentile matrix (Samsung amoled) for brighter display and lower power usage at the cost of image clarity. Colours are usually over saturated but can be adjusted to your liking.
