htc sense 3.0 is out for incredible s all over the world. htc has even put up the user guide for sense 3.o for incredible s on their website ....want to know if anyone in india got the official upgrade?? i tried many times but it says my phone is up to date
I'm in the US & my phone is the India region model & no update here either. I am wondering what the holdup is. Googling back it seems there was a delay for the previous OTA update for India too.
Anyone in India got official update?
Not released in india yet. Will be available to download before feb i guess. I will suggest you to unlock bootloader in your device and enjoy some custom ROMS till that.
No updates as of yet received in India. Have been checking atleast twice a day. Am on the stock ROM, S-On etc.
Still waiting. Also if anyone can clarify, does this update bring the much needed native videocalling (via 3G) ?
nops no native videocalling in update...

Your warranty becomes null and void the moment you unlock the bootloader using Alpharevx or Revolutionary methods. It even becomes void if you use htcdev.com method to install recovery (with a still locked boot). Obviously, if you use a xtc clip to permanently unlock the bootloader also, you warranty becomes void. So bottom line: Locked phone with stock ROM = still in Warranty. Any unlock to change ROM = No Warranty, unless you want to resell or try to get a refund / exchange. IMHO, unlock & root is like a schoolgirl losing her virginity nowadays, not a big issue and they try to achieve it the fastest, best and most pleasurable way!!!
Most of us Indians are using unlock by Alpharevx or Revolutionary and thereafter running a sense 3.0 3.5 ROM. I would personally recommend ARHD, its fast, stable and gives good reception & battery life.

Thanks

warranty in india isn't a issue after a year mostly unless u have extended warranty correct ?
using htcdev method and the others mentioned above.. is it possible to unroot to stock for updating it if any needed ?
Hi all, i have warranty on my phone and a issue with screen images burning in! I know it's AMOLED sscreen stuff but this mine is faulty! I have nvFlashed it to stock Froyo rom, and updated with LG update tool to v20l! Question is can i lock my phone to carier like it was on start? Will they confirm warranty if it is unlocked?
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
Hello!
Well this is a question only the service staff from your provider can answer in the end...
But if someone asks you could say LG Update tool is responsible since you just updated with it…
…or you get a branded rom form your provider somehow/somewhere!?!?
No you can't SIM lock the phone, and it being unlocked should have no effect on the warranty (as long as it was done by code, and not some horrible hack-job, I guess).
Ok well than it was unlocked by code

Hello people.
Before i get a comment Like ''google it", i want to clarify that i think this thread will be useful to many people here. Why? Cuz i strongly beleive that many many galaxy users wont be grtting the gs4. No need to state the reasons.
Therefore, i bet many people, including me, are noob with htc devices and i would appreciate any help since rooting on gs3 was fairly easy compared to htc.
I know that with s-on i cant install custom roms , but i can still root it right? If i want to install a sense based ROM, do i need s-off? Or its only for aokp, cynogemod, etc?
For recovery mode, do i need s-off, bootloader unlocked? Or both?
Bootloader: does the international version comes unlocked?
Last question: who had htc one x or other previous 2012 htc devices, which ROM was more stabled? Batterywise? Speed?
Thanks in advance.
Sorry if any stupid questions made. But im rly noob.

With S-ON you CAN install custom ROMs AND root the device.
Only the UNRELEASED HTC DEV edition (only an US version has been announced so far) comes with an unlocked bootloader.

With S-Off you can flash the kernel through your phone alone(without relying on fastboot on PC). And you can downgrade hboot, basebands etc.
In short S-Off is a more deeper level of tweaking to a point that you could brick your device permanently. Bootloader unlocking is just... unlocks your bootloader. And the bootloader has the capability to mess with the kernel and system partition.
If you're using a Windows.
S-Off = Administrator privileges
Bootloader unlock = standard user
Locked bootloader = Guest user

You can flash a kernel/boot.img without fastboot or a pc even if you are s-on. There is an updater-script mod to accomplish this.
S-Off = security check off. Meaning you can flash radios/fw etc that are not signed with HTCs private key.

Sadly I won't be getting the dev edition since I'm not willing to pay $650 for a phone. Upgrading for $300 is a whole lot more appealing than paying $650. Hopefully someone will figure out how to unlock the bootloader for the AT&T locked version since obviously it won't be getting unlock through HTC Dev.

Why not? I saw at the blog that people could unlock from their website?
Also for me 650 is cheap. Do you know how much is an iPhone 5 64gb in my country? 1200 us dollar Lil.
You are luck to get a phone for only 300

Yeah I know some people got it worse. :/ but also a iPhone here for 64gb is 800 I believe. Still a big price gap between 800 and 1200 though.
The reason it won't be unlockable is because AT&T in the past had always had locked bootloaders that weren't unlock able byHTC Dev. I think the One X got it after a few months but I'd prefer not to wait. But for 300 vs 650 I can wait a bit. As long as it doesn't take like a year.

Hi
Just wondering whether anyone has an XT bought from O2 UK, as I am looking to get one of these phones, and whether you were able to unlock the bootloader (do O2 allow it?)
Also, what state are CM10/10.1 in right now, as in what does/doesn't work.
Thanks

I don't have O2, but this has been dealt with several times in the forum before regarding unlockable phone or not.

I suggest ask the salesman when he sells it to you, and if he cannot answer the question goto to vodafone, every single phone I have from them is sim unlocked and bootloader unlockable.

I'll be buying this online, as it's refurbished and quite cheap, albeit on a bad tariff (100MB internet :crying.
I did talk to an online adviser who was pretty useless and had no idea what a bootloader was, so that is why I came here to see if anyone with an O2 branded version could tell me. I shall wait for an answer

What about flashing a generic ROM? Would that work? I've never owned a phone with a locked bootloader so I'm not sure how they work.

Got my Xperia T on o2 through Tesco Phone Shop,
sim unlocked and unlockable bootloader.
My Xperia T is from O2 which was sim locked and bootloader locked.
Thanks to the folks at Cellunlocker.net, after emailing them, 2 days later my sim was unlocked, and my O2 sim was set on fire and extinguished through urination.
Cost £25 through Cellunlocker, O2 cost £20 AFTER 12 months usage.

True, He did say that, but since its blindinly obvious that that is allowed I interpreted his "generic" rom to mean a "stock based" rom, looks like we got our wires crossed.
Edit
To clarify the point
All phones can flash stock FTF files
Rooted phones with recovery can flash stock based roms and FTFs
Unlocked bootloaders can flash custom kernels, all custom roms, stock based roms and FTFs
Good that you clarified it Greg, I agree that it was not completely clear what he meant.

Hi,
I'm getting a HTC One this week and I would like to know whether I need to get the Developer edition to use custom roms or whether the xda community has already found a way to unlock a locked bootloader on the standard HTC One?
I'm not worried about the phone being unlocked for carriers (I'm sticking with o2).
also, is there any other benefit of the Dev Edition or is it purely so it isn't locked to a carrier and unlocked bootloader?
Hi
Greetings,
If you.want to flash a custom Rom I prefer you get the developer edition
Yes we can unlock, root and install custom Rom on the normal HTC one.
Getting the developers editions will save your time in unlocking bootloader
Choices is yours:thumbup:

Hey, I just bought the HTC One Dev, it is on its way. I've been using iOS for a long time and this phone looks better to me than the iPhone 5.
Anyway, it will be my first Android device so I am a complete noob. Will flashing roms to Dev Edition also void the warranty? Just curious, I know that if done right, nothing will go wrong, just want to know if there is any other benefit other than 64GB and not having to root it. Another question, how can I root original Sense 5 to the phone if I later decide to sell it or just want the stock back?
Thanks in advanced.
Edit: Wrong thread
I got my htc one (non dev edition) and was able to unlock bootloader, root and install custom roms without issue.
no idea about warranty
