[Q] [SPRINT]factoryfs.rfs - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone have access to a stock Sprint GB factoryfs.rfs? If you do please help me out with a link.

You should be able to dump the factoryfs.rfs using rotobackup. I may try this later this week when i go back to stock to test some other things i've been trying to sort out..
So I've got my Tab back to Factory stock EF17, but since there's no way to root it without flashing Quen's rooted "stock" i'm not sure how to go about dumping the factoryfs.rfs. The RotoBackup method requires root. Any other ideas to get a true factoryfs.rfs dumped?

[Q] Newbie Installed Wrong Rom

New to android roms and accidently a I9000 rom (Ultimate) onto my I9000M. It now boots showing "Galaxy S GT-I9000M" and then changes to show "Galaxy S GT-I9000" and then stops there.
I am able to get it to boot into clockwork and have tried the restore all. But it is still messing up when booting.
How can I fix this? I am currently on a linux box, will I need a windows box with Odin?
Flash a i9000m rom, you can use heimdall instead of odin probably
Good I9000M roms?
Ok I have Heimdall and am still reading up on it. But looks straight forward enough.
Now to find a stable I9000M rom. Every reference to a I9000M rom I can find seems to be controversial, can anyone with a I9000M vouch for a rom? Is there a list of I9000M roms somewhere? Is there a link to the rom files of the official BMC 2.2 release? 2.1 is fine too don't really care just want to get back onto something stable for now.
i9000m is bell right ?? canada ?? if so try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845558
that should do the trick
You can install I9000 roms on the I9000m, I have done with no problem maybe you install just got corrupted, reinstall the stock rom then flash the one you want over it. I know that darky and Docs roms work very well with our phones, I m on Darky's 9.2 with bells JL2 modem and it works fantasticaly.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
azzledazzle, yup it's a Sasktel phone but they get all their phones from Bell Canada anyways.
So downloading the I9000UGJK3.tar right now. I guess what I am still not understanding is what all would have been overwritten by the Ultimate firmware when I flashed it in ClockWork Recovery? And what all am I going to need to overwrite to get back to working? I was on stock 2.1 when I flashed Ultimate. I900UGJK3 is a 2.2 rom as far as I can tell.
From what I have found the firmware would replace all sections of the PDA/Code: rootfs, kernel, param.lfs and the recovery partition.
Are the PIT files some kind of partition table? And would Ultimate have touched them?
Still can't find a good explanation of the CSC. Anyone help me out on what that actually is?
I am unclear if the boot loaders would have been overwritten at all? At least one of the went unwritten as I still have clockwork recovery. Is the ClockWork Recovery contained in one of the boot loaders or does it get a separate partition that the boolader just points to?
Modem is the radio firmware, I assume.
stock firmware will erase any traces of modifications including root lagfix apps anything you have done... if the firmware your downloading comes in 3 files use PIT and Re PARTITION in ODIN, this will completely restore the phone to the day it was made.
if it doesnt come in 3 files and only comes in 1 PDA file DO NOT USE PIT OR REPARITION.
but flash anyway and see what happens, ideally you will be needing a 3 file firmware.
but i only use I9000 I have no idea how the other SGS spinoffs work sorry.
Here is a link to JL2, the latest 2.2 ROM for the I9000M. I use it and I am very happy.
Working again
Ended up on JL2. Thanks to everyone for responding.
There were actually 6 files when I untarred (rootfs, zImage *kernel, param.lfs, secondary bootloader, CSC cache and modem). But it was pretty obvious how to load it into Heimdall. Turns out that part of the update was the second bootloader. Probably what was giving me the issues before.
Still curious if there is a developer or some documentation that can put a little bit more of an explanation of exactly what the param.lfs, Sbl.bin and cache.rfs (CSC) all do. I want to learn and become less of a button pushing monkey.
My LG E400 shut down and won't turn back on
hello
i think i had installed a wrong rom so my phone turned off and dont want to open again even in recovery mood
any help please

Restore to stock OrangeUK Galaxy Tab

Hey,
Having installed overcome and cwm I haven't been happy with it and now wish to return to stock however the backup's I done during the flashing to overcome/cwm have md5 mismatches leaving me without any backups to restore to stock.
I've had a snoop about on how to restore back to stock without much success at all. Any pointers or guides buried away that I can't seem to find?

yes...I did this my self, and is not big deal ! you need to flash with PIT file via Odin the original firmware. for me was easy because my TAB is not branded, and I got the firmware from here. you should try searching for your firmware.

[Q] Lost 3G service

Somehow while Rooting and Updating I lost all 3g service on my Verizon Tab. This is a replacement Tabe sent to me by Verizon. When I tried to restore the info from my prior Tab this one came up "No Service" I tried going back to stock, all the previous backups still on my SD card. Nothing works. Anyone know what I need to do to get the 3g back......
Oh ya
The baseband version is unknown
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=955342
You need these I had a similar situation, but these are all the files you need including the modem for 3g
I followed those instructions when I tried to go back to stock. Do I just need to add the modem file in the modem spot in Heimdal or do I need to put all the original file back as well?
i did a complete reload when i did mine using heimdall
Hold down power and volume down to get into download mode.
factoryfs.rfs in factoryFS
zimage in Kernel(zimage) and recovery
this is important read carefully before selecting
there are 2 param. files you want the param. lfs it goes in param.lfs slot
cache in cache
and modem in modem
Those are the only files you will need. It worked from me I have been working on themeing the tab using the deodexed roms posted in development so i have really got stuck before and these have saved me everytime. Hoping to post and accurate battery mod ported from sbrissen over on the fasc forum he has been helping me on it and i think i have a stable version
hope this helps
chris
No luck, tried flashing the files twice no change. Still no 3g and the baseband still says unknown.
you said after you restored from your previous tab, What happened to the previous one? the same thing? and how did it get that way?
On the previous tab I was running KhasMek's K-leanMod v3’s Rom and KhasMek Voodoo Plus v5 Now with Full Voodoo CwM Kernel. I wanted to go back to stock so I could get the latest Verizon update. I wanted the Bluetooth HID access. After I converted back to stock I was unable to load the update. It would download but not install. The Verizon tech was unable to help me so they sent me a new one. I realized that I forgot to disable the lag fix before I went back to stock.
This time I Rooted (using super one step root), installed Titanium backup and installed my backed up apps. When I rebooted I lost the 3g service.
did you remove root and tb b4 you tryed flashing the stock files? Also did you have voodoo active if so deactivate before flashing back to stock.

[Q] Giving Up On Kies Upgrade Attempt, How Can I Try 2.3 without JF6?

Hey folks. I basically just want Gingerbread on my phone, but I'm having issues doing it through Kies as it won't recognize the current firmware when I connect.
I'm not able to flash to JF6 in Odin OneClick without getting an ATT boot screen and nothing more.
Apparently I need to have JF6 in order to get Kies to recognize the phone. I'd like to get this done today (Been two weeks without full function), and I'm thinking I just want to flash to a good rom that runs 2.3.
Is there anything I can do to flash to something other than I896UXJL1-stock or I896UXJI2 TORONTO? These flash well, but are not what I was looking for. Again, I'm going to need something that doesn't require JF6, or another method to get JF6 on without getting stuck at the ATT screen.
Any flash with Odin does not require you to be on a prerequisite firmware, it will flash over whatever you're running.
Go to the Dev section, find a gingerbread firmware with bootloaders included, put phone in download mode and flash.
Full List of Necessary Files for Successful Flash
Okay, I've been browsing around, trying to find something suitable, but now it would seem that I'm not able to flash anything except for the OneClick method which gives me that ATT screen.
I read somewhere that later editions of the Captivate may not work out well with certain Odin flashes. I think my phone is 1038?
I'm hoping that someone might be good enough to show me how to get this thing to flash to what Samsung sent to Rogers from the factory, or at least to a point that I can successfully flash to 2.3. Right now I'm stuck.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Okay, I'm back to UXJL1, using Odin 1.81, and I also found a OneClick that reportedly switches out the bootloaders for GB bootloaders. I tried it, and it did give me an ATT screen, followed by a normal boot and I was back to having apps like Titanium crashing on boot, which is beyond annoying to figure out.
My biggest issue is that I think I have a decent grasp of what's involved in this process, but I don't know which file is compliant with which. I seem to always use 512 for the partition, but I see some variations in that. I also don't know what to do about the bootloader situation except the one tool I mentioned above.
Basically I could either use what I have, go back to Firefly, or keep trying this GB upgrade. I'd rather keep trying but I also need a phone.
I have a ton of different firmware files at my disposal and can download whatever else I need if mentioned, I also have a few different versions of Odin, and OneClick. I downloaded Odin OneClick 2.xx for rooting purposes and it seemed to work with a flash I did today.
Again, thanks for any help.
As for bootloaders. If the 1 click doesn't work, or you don't know if your phone likes 1 clicks I've attached a pda.tar and a odin in a rar that contains just GB bootloaders. This isn't my work I downloaded from somewhere in xda, I just can't remember where so I can't link. All credit to whoever created it. I can't speak specifics for I896 but random FC's usually means a bad flash. Try downloading again or another odin rom. Sorry I can't be any more help.

I was lucky my phone did not brick, But I was also lucky I made a Nandroid backup on the day I decided to flash CM10 . So I am now back on Stock ICS. What a relief.
But to anyone lurking on here; How would I get past the Odin Boot.bin?
lucky u do a backup b4 doing stupid things ha ha ha…
normally i'll flash back stock via Mobile odin n always 100% success.
for pc odin not sure maybe someone will give u the answer.
good luck!
Glad you have resolved it.
Remember to read the stick threads on the General Forums on what not to do.
Wiping on stock ICS kernels is potentially dangerous, and we do not know what rom/kernel you came from.
Bear in mine of outdated instructions on other sites like Youtube.
Also, we do not know what phone model you have, and flashing the wrong files on your phone can cause permanent damage.
