Hi,
A few weeks ago Gingerbread 2.3.3 was available for me through Kies. I did the upgrade and everything went well. I noticed there was a few bugs in this version. Problems with the Bluetooth and there is a 5 second freeze issue in the home screen after closing an application.
My current version is:
PDA: P1000NVFJP5
PHONE: P1000NUBJP3
CSC: P1000NUUBJPA
Model GT P1000N
SSN: -P1000NGSMH
This week a new version is available, for what I can see only the PDA and the CSC is going to be updated.
If I remember correctly Kies is offering:
PDA: P1000NVFJP6
PHONE: P1000NUBJP3
CSC: P1000NUUBJPB
I tried to do the upgrade last night and it failed. The tab went into download mode but the upgrade failed for some odd reason.
The tab is still fully functional but I can't get the latest's version installed.
What should I do now? Factory data reset and then upgrade? If I do a factory data reset what firmware do I get? Froyo or Gingerbread?
Regards.
if you do a factory data reset then upgrade via kies, you'll get the latest version that they are offering (GB)
Ok, so right after the factory reset the TAB ends up with Froyo 2.2 and then after the Kies upgrade it is supposed to get the latest version of GB. Is this correct?
I just did the factory reset and the tabs still runs GingerBread 2.3.3. It did not go back to Froyo 2.2. I will try the Kies upgrade tonight.
The gtab goes to factory reset of current rom. If you updated to gb through ODIN then you probably won't be able to update through Kies until you re-install you're stock froyo build...
mines not working
hello, my tab Model is GT-P1000NGSMH and was running Froyo 2.2...now..and it is Made in Korea...and now i am in Asia region and i cant update my tab to GB 2.3...it shows that "There is no update for this device" (with kies)

Hello,
I currently have the XXJPK (Korean csc) running on my phone. Yesterday the 2.2 update was made available via Kies in the Netherlands and i wanted to try that firmware out.
I tried using the registry hacks to make Kies update my phone but with no luck.
Tried to hard reset my phone as well but nothing.
Does anyone has any sugestions on how to go from XXJPK to the official 2.2 (dutch) update?
Good day everyone,
Just letting everyone know that the Bell i9000M Froyo update will be out on Dec. 10th, dunno vers. number though
Notice was sent out to all Bell Stores, document dated Dec. 10th, but it says " out now ".
So check your kies to see if it is out now, otherwise it'll be on the 10th
On that same note, am i the only one who after flashing a rom through Odin, no matter what rom i flash back on the phone, Kies says that this ver. cannot be updated?
Confirmed:
http://mobilesyrup.com/2010/12/08/b...upgrade-to-os-2-2-froyo-coming-december-10th/
Yeah that's the document that I received a sales rep for Bell
so is it JK4?
Does anyone know if its live now?
or is dec. 10th the date?
edit, also is there a larger document?
There is no upgrade procedure?
Please be OTA....
Update is through Kies, there are links in the documents leading to that
unfortunetly can't check if it's out on Kies now, as stated in my frist post, when i connect my phone no matter what rom (did this since my first flash with ODIN) it says this ver. is not upgradable, i even flashed back JH2 original stock and still same msg.
So if any1 is on stock 2.1 Bell, try odin and let us know.
Thank you.
I'm on stock 2.1 JH2. Not available yet throug Kies.
Still out of the box rom? or did you flash back to jh2?

I ended up getting a brand new in box replacement after my first one died. Haven't flashed the phone since I got it. Out of the box it had the newer JH2 with the updated 3 button recovery bootloader working.
Just upgraded through Keis. My heart stopped when the screen got stuck at the start up screen. I left the phone for about a min and the phone finally loaded
What is the firmware version number of the upgrade??? P
well i have xxjpo for my Samsung galaxy s i9000 unlocked no carrier bloodware non rooted still have the original launcher and since the leak of 2.2.1 there has been loads of xx??? files so confused i also want to wait for official release do any of you know what the official firmware will be called as well ?
Are you in thee UK or Ghana? If in the UK then your phone should be XEU as it is unbranded. Open Kies make sure it is updated to version 102 (Kies that is) then connect the phone and check for firmware update. You should be offered JPY. Back up all your Data before updating just in case it is deleted.
i live in london but i am on holiday with my family in ghana i am using a different chip while i am here firmware 2.2 baseband i9000xxjpp kernel version 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1 build number FROYO.XXJPO when i get back to london i will switch back to t-mobile i have also trouble with kies i will also factory reset after update
Hello
Kies 2.0 or 1.5 will not recognize the firmware of one of my Samsung Captivate I896 running Rogers Stock 2.1 or Rogers Stock 2.2 (Froyo).
Two computers installed with
Vista Home Premium (32bit)
Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit)
Problem with Kies 2.0 detecting firmware on Captivate:
Captivate: deselect debugging mode.
Computer: Start "Kies" application
Connect USB cable to computer and then to Captivate
Captivate: Select "Kies (Firmware Update)"
Computer: Kies on computer will recognize Captivate correctly showing "I896" correctly.
Computer: In "Current Firmware", nothing is shown or detected. Blank
Captivate Brief History:
THis phone has been rooted and flashed with custom ROMs many times
ie CM7, Continuum
Then back to non GB bootloaders using ODIN one-click (AT&T Stock 2.1)
used a master clear at one time in the ODIN one-click
then Rogers Stock 2.1 (I896UXJI2 TORONTO) via ODIN3 v.1.82.
also Rogers Stock 2.2 (I896UXJL1-stock) via ODIN3 v.1.82.
I have also used (heimdall-suite-1.3.0-win32) to flash (UXJL1 I897)
With Eclair - Rogers 2.1 Stock.
Is the product code correct?
Yes
With Stock 2.1 flashed on captivate.
Enter *2767*4387264636# in dialer.
Then there a line that says:

NO, The IMEI is still correct and has not changed.
Have you uninstalled Kies correctly?
When I uninstall Kies, I also use CCleaner to clean up the registry.
Have you tried Kies 1.5?
Yes.
Problem with Kies 1.5 detecting firmware on Captivate:
Captivate: deselect debugging mode.
Computer: Start "Kies" application
Connect USB cable to computer and then to Captivate
Captivate: Select "Kies (Firmware Update)"

I had this problem for a while before I updated to froyo a few months ago. I ended up having to flash back to unrooted stock before I could update to Froyo through Kies. Have you tried unrooting?
I was a supporter of Kies for a long time, but it seems like it's only real usefulness is to update firmware. The set of apps that Samsung wraps up in Kies are not superior to the parallel Google Applications. I guess I'm just curious as to why you need to use Kies when there are so many better alternatives in regards to syncing contacts, apps and content.
Good luck to you. I'd try with a completely stock unrooted eclair.

I select, the Flash to Stock and it was a version that Kies 2.0 accepted (Eclair 2.1). Then you simply follow the instructions to upgrade to Froyo.

Sooo, does someone who has never rooted or flashed a different ROM have this same problem? Or is it Captivate wide, regardless of the device condition?

Are you running 2.1 or 2.2? If you've never rooted or installed another ROM and are having issues with Kies connecting, make sure that you install the specific driver package that kies is intended to run with. If you just plug in your phone and let Windows install the drivers automatically you may not get the results you are looking for.
There are many, many threads that address this specific issue if you do a quick search.

I am running 2.2 stock from Rogers, but after rooted and flashing CM7. I went back to stock using a guide from XDA somewhere. Drivers are all installed.
Kies can see the phone, but it cannot detect the firmware.

This works perfectly. The other versions out there don't set the csc properly so kies wont touch it. This worked like a champ. Download, install. Flash to stock, follow directions. Then boot up kies, connect usb, hit kies button and it will prompt for the upgrade

Hi,
I flashed my SGS to CM7 and don't really like it. I have downloaded the firmware ( I9000DXJF4 )from sammobile and flashed it. However, I am unable to upgrade the firmware using Kies to the new firmware available thru Samsung.
My current version is as followed
PDA: I9000DXJF4
PHONE: I9000DXJF4
CSC: I9000OLBJF4
From the look of my phone, everything seem to be back to its original setting, with all the singtel (my telco provider ) apps. Now I am trying to upgrade to Froyo 2.2 (I think) using Kies. Kies prompted that it is unable to update the firmware. I tried the latest version of kies and also version 1.5. Both are unable to do so.
Anyone can kindly advise?
Try changing your CSC code to XEU. I encountered some issues with KIES updates when having CSC code KOR.
Hi,
I tried to change to XUE but this option is not available. I go into CSC by *#272*HHMM#. Is it wrong?
*#272*???????????????# (??????????????? it's your IMEI, it must have 15 digits)
or try https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nfye.insanity.toolbox
Hi,
Thanks for your help. I got my IMEI code. It pop up in a small window. Then I tried to change the CSC using the method u mentioned. But nothing happen. When I press the call button, it say "USSD code running..." then follow by "UNKNOWN APPLICATION"
I also tried to install the software, but it is only for android 2.2 and above. I tried to find the crack version for the premium version but cant find any. Do you have the premium version? Can upload to mediafire and send me the link?
Never try to install via KIES ..
Install via ODIN the Firmware you want it's simply better, even if ODIN is unofficial.
Introductions you will find by googleing I think .. it's easy.
Good luck and have fun
Hi,
Ya, using Odin now. But still prefer Kies over Odin. A lot of stuff become automatic with Kies.
I just flash to DXJG4 hoping to be able to link to kies but it failed.
I read that once the lagfix is fixed, there will be problem with kies. Am I fixing the lagfix in anyway thus leading to this problem?
Did you get solution to your problem? I had the same problem with a Galaxy Wonder... when i tried to upgrade via kies i got this screen..
That I cannot post actually because the forum prevents me from doing it...
BUT...
I tried OTA upgrade with perfect results... And the funny thing is that I NEVER before could start OTA...
BTW everything's fine now and I bumped to 2.3.6 ggbrd

You can download all the recent firmware from sammobile and you can flash it via odin. Flashing stock ROM via Odin
