After using the keyboard on an HP Touchpad for a few hours I want the same sort of thing on my Xoom, hell even one the same as the keyboard on my DHD would be nice as I find myself really not getting on with the Xoom's default one..

Check out Hackers Keyboard. It works great on my xoom for a full qwerty kb. I haven't used the TPad (stupid best buy employees ) but I assume that's why you like it.

I wasn't quite happy with the stock keyboards that came with vegan or tent lite so I went searching for something else... I have better keyboard on my phone so I decided to download it on my tab. I ended up getting some errors on tnt but it works great on vegan. It is free to try now, but you gotta pay for the options to be enabled. Gonna check the version and see if I can find the full working version for us. If there is more keyboards you think I should try, lmk
Update: I do have the key and app. What would be the best place for us gtabbers? I know mediafile works in dolphin but is there an universal site where everyone can see them? I plan on putting some packs together

I have set up a new sendspace account and will be using it until I find something better. Currently sendspace has an app on the market that lets me upload anything
Dolphin only lets me upload pics/music/videos ATM

better keyboard is the best keyboard (imo ofc) so far ive played with. you can change the height of the keyboard, skin support, lots of options, etc.
edit: t9 is awesome, and the sound works
install the key first then the main. it will guide you through the rest.

+1 on Thumb Keyboard. Simply the best layout for a 10" device available for android devices at this time.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
I have come to like the keyboard from notion ink. I really like the fact it has arrows on the layout. It does take a little getting used to, no lines between the letters.

not worth 25$
Cmon its really good if your not taking your notebook anywhere and you need to write some fukin long mail or something I thinks its really cool and good... 25$.. yeees its not so for everyone but for a business man its really gooooood
Yeah
But Bluetooth Headsets don't work in 2.2 or 2.3 ROMs so I wonder if this will be the same. It'd be good if it linked to the phones wifi.
This bluetooth keyboard doesn't work with Android 2.1, drivers on CD added with keyboard are for Android 1,6. With CM this keyboard will propably work.
I had this keyboard for a few week, but doesn't work with LG, iPod Touch and similar devices.
hmm, it seems interesting... Maybe I'll buy one.
Is there anyone who has used this or similar keyboard before?
Cant you use any bluetooth keyboard?

I bought this:
http://www.miniinthebox.com/ultra-s...2-0-rechargeable-keyboard-silver_p211557.html
With 2.3.5 CM7 rom you got to have BlueInput software to use it.
With 2.2.1 Utopia that I have now you can pair it directly from the settings>....Bluetooth menu.
It's an HID device (the keyboard) and all such keyboards need HID support from the phone's ROM.
Why I bought this?
I've got one laptop and one netbook.
I never carry a laptop with me. I use it instead of a desktop.
I may carry the netbook and may not carry it when away from home.
When I'm at home and want to lay on the sofa, usually the netbook is occupied by the kids (+ it is heated pretty much).
So I prefer to use my phone for some surfing around the forums etc.
So bought this and is very very practical, although it does not fold.
If you want to buy a keyboard with a brand name eg Freedom Pro (which is foldable) with ssp protocol, there's KEYPRO app to do the pairing and key mapping if I remember well.
This was my first aim, but finally I tried a much cheapier solution.
Sorry for the bump, i searched for over 3 months for a good bt keyboard but all of them cost 30 usd + shipping, so, it's not worth it
but it's big! it isn't portable! right?
I've spoken with mike gapinski (dev of ICS for GT540) and he said, that in ICS there are drivers for pad from xbox, ps3 and apple wirelesss keyboard
I'm using this keyboard when i play ps games on FPse. This device removes problem with multitouch. Keyboard works on SwiftDroid, PCF's CM7, Mike's ICS and I think on most of 2.2+ ROMS. Battery leasts for 48h, so when phone is charging you could play long hours. I bought it for 15 $.
Looks funny but why spend that amount of money for something that will probably be useless to you?
it's not useless - as I said - i play on this device PS games. Without this keyboard you can't use two or even three different keys in games. I think, taht in games it's very helpful.
Looks interesting but If you have access to a wlan sending sms with airdroid is ok.. and cheaper..
Looking for a good swype like keyboard for the Xoom. Any reccs?
So far I've tried SlideIt which is good but a bit laggy and not as polished as swype.
yesterday there was a post called "tablet keyboard".
You might want to dig it up. See if it is similar enough to suite your needs

Is thata swype or t9 style?
Yes, Tablet is the keyboard I use and I like it alot. It has either split screen or regular full modes. I like the split mode which is very natural for holding the xoom and typing with thumbs at the same time.
Cheers,
Jerry
I use SwiftKey and love it, split thumb based keyboard with an amazing auto-complete feature that almost writes emails for you, and improves as it learns your writing style.
Try Thumb Keyboard. I've optimized this keyboard for tablets by a introducing a split design. Right now I'm working on a very big update that will unleash the extra functionality of Honeycomb. For one thing it will have multi-touch, but also the ability to click and change previous typed words with suggestions and it will present different suggestions for voice input. And in the future I will also add the ability to predict the next word.

Great! I will release a stable version begin next week. Normally I would upload it directly to the market, but because it is a rewrite of the whole core I decided to do some testing.
It's a private beta. Please PM me, or better yet, send an email to the email address in the about box so I can mail you a version begin next week.
If others respond, I'm basically looking for users who already use the keyboard because I want to do the test for current users who can also do a comparison. (Don't want to fix anything that isn't broken )
Thanks
I'd love to test it. I use it on my xoom and evo. best keyboard ever

another slide keyboard is TSwipe-Pro
Hi,
I tried many keyboards and am still looking for that perfect combination of layouts, features, and speed. I needed something with numbers on the top row and use Tablet Keyboard Free. I would really like to have cursor keys and the ability to use my finger and slide the word.
Ive been trying TSwipe-Pro. Of all the two dozen keyboards Ive used, this one has more features than any of them. I do not know if its because I have the trial version but sometimes it slows down, or parts of it stop working, like prediction, until I kill the task. It is a THI keyboard with english. I wonder if those letters would show here, , ๆๅภุุึคตจขชไำพะัรนยบลลฟหกดเ้่าสวงผปแอิืืทมใใฝฝ????
Thumb Keyboard is not to be overlooked. It has its strenghts that other keyboard apps don't.
-TheHoovie
If you really want a swype type keyboard you should look up slide-it keyboard. It is basically swype but as an app that can be bought and installed. i think its like 6 dollars. Its what I use and in many ways its better than swype, at least it allows a few more features.

Sweet! Thanks!
A few quick first impressions:
I love the move of the tab and .com buttons to new positions, much easier for me to get at.
Really struggling with the addition of the caps key on the right side of the keyboard in the location of the delete key on the old version. Not that this is bad, just that coming from using the older version of thumb keyboard I find myself getting a capital letter when I had been intending to delete the previous letter.
The space autocomplete with highlighted word only works from the right side space bar (and that is the only one that lights up with the notification for autocomplete). Is this by design and if so why? Have tried hitting the left side space bar a couple times expecting the autocomplete and then having to go back (see above for what usually happens next lol).
That's just a few things after a couple minutes time. This is the only keyboard I use so as I use it more will try and give more feedback.
This is looking great, thanks for all of the work you have put into this. Can't wait for the final version of this update and all of the greatness it will bring to my favorite keyboard on my xoom.

I love it too - bought it for my N1 and been using it ever since (like 4-5 months) ... but tried it on the XOOM and it's terrible... obviously not made for tablets since the keyboard takes up 90% of the screen
did they release a beta for tablets I'm not aware of?
is there a keyboard app where you can actually write instead of typing?? example....there is a full keyboard but there is also a small box where you can draw/write the letters and it will go onto the screen as if u texted it.

graffiti for android is almost exactly like graffiti used to be on palmOS. It's not hand writing recognition, but it is pattern for letter recognition.

It's really just a customized Autodesk Sketchbook that's modified to work with the K1 more efficiently.
I don't think it would help to pull it. If you really want though, I can send it your way to see if it works for you.

Or , just in case one can recommend a good handpainting program to use with the stylus?

GIve the Corel Painter app a try. They have nice physical media effects.
Dabbler probably isn't going to be compatible with the Tegra Note or Samsung Note, since it is either reliant on the K1 SoC, or has software checks that prevent it from running on other SoCs.
I have clover paint https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fareast.CloverPaint&hl=en
It's so good that I asked the dev if the $20 tablet UI add-on would work with the tegra note, they said no, I got it anyway, and it works. I was only gonna get it to give the dev more money but not only does it work it's the best UI ever. The painting itself (if you read up on it you can see the praise but in short) is the bomb. I got the directstylus pro pack and am completely skipping over this gen of tablets I'm just sticking with my tegra note and clover paint and my next tablet purchase will actually be based on what the clover paint developers use I guess either when my note dies or when I want a bigger screen. I originally was 100% intent on gaming for android which is why I ended up with the tegra note, boy am I glad it had another use.
If you do use clover paint you gotta go into the stylus settings and at the bottom do the automatic pressure detection, just press down as light and as hard as you plan on, basically drag it around and practice your strokes until it's done. The one problem with it right now is it's the most advanced program ever made but there's no documentation, so for example I have the pro stylus so that's two tips, then I have a third stylus which is one of them round wire tips and each time I switch I do the auto pressure, but maybe one day there'll be stylus profiles it's really, really confusing, I think it's the language barrier, but holy moly macaroni if you like to art you better try it and you better actually get to know it before deciding you don't like it a good example is to take the oil brush and see how it mixes colors and smudges it and then you can cusotmize brushes to no end with stuff like smudging and mixing and outlining and I don't know if you're trying it yet but if you're not why aren't you go sjust go forget this post and just go

I'm pretty sure that Nvidia created Dabbler to only be used with the K1 processor. It was a way for them to show off how powerful it really is in a fun, neat way.
Pretty sure I heard that in a demo somewhere.
I don't know if there's any way to run dabbler in other devices but I randomly realized that the handwriting recognition app Shield has installed by default is an actual app that can be downloaded from the playstore. I had asked a friend if she knew a good handwriting recognition app before I got my Shield and by the time she sent me the link to the app I had already gotten my Shield so I saw right away it's the exact same thing!
