when I go to the "Market" application, it goes blank and looks like its entering, but suddenly kicks me out..
so in other words, I can not enter the market application, and I can not clear cache because when I go to catche, the option is grayed out.
any other ideas?

Use any option it gives you to uninstall the app, then reinstall it.
Similar issue.
I am having a similar issue.
I installed Toggle Settings (Donut) on my G1 (CM 4.2.5 I'm not using apps2SD) and then decided to uninstall it. Now when I go to the market and my downloads it shows that I have Toggle settings installed. The problem is that I don't and it gives me no options to do anything (open and uninstall are grayed out). Other apps install and uninstall normally with the market updating their status correctly. I don't know what to do to correct this. If you know how to remedy this, please help me.
I apologize if this is an inappropriate place to post this but I serched and this was the closest topic to my problem that I found.
Try finding it in the app-private folder or if its in any of yours apps as a .zip file. If so, back it up and delete it from the phone. see if that resolves the issue. if not try deleting the market cache

Thanks for replying... It's not in any of my other apps and I've tried deleting the market cache (and deleting the market cache and power cycling the phone) and that isn't working. Where is (or should be) the app-private folder? I'm not finding that folder.
I'm starting to feel like my only hope is an update being put out for the app and then hopefully I can download that and go from there.

app-private should be in the same folder as app
Had a similar problem
I wiped my phone and did a frech Cyan 4.2.5 install to help clear a problem with Gmail. I used backup for root users to get all my apps back, but it left a couple out - leaving me in the same situation you guys are in - can't install/uninstall from the market as the buttons are greyed out, but it's not actually on your phone.
i eventually stumbled over a solution of sorts when i reverted back to a themeless 4.2.5 - for me flashing the update again sorted out my market data and allowed me to install the missing apps again. either that, or go into a nandroided backup, extract the apks and manually push them to your current setup - buttons are magically no longer greyed out.
Thanks guys.
Thanks for your guys assistance.
I found another solution that worked. I had one of my coworkers download Astro File browser and then the Toggle settings app. I just backed up his toggle settings with the built in apps manager in Astro and then put his memory card in my phone and restored toggle settings with Astro. Then I went to the market and uninstalled toggle settings through the market and bingo no more ghost of Toggle settings problem. Thanks again for your assistance.
My market was working fine (You know what they say... if it ain't broke, don't fix it... I really should have listened) before I tried to add the new Vending.apk
The steps I took were copying the new market to my SD and backing up the old to my SD.
I deleted the old one on /system/app (all using Root Explorer)
Moved the new one to System, renamed it. Changed permissions and rebooted.
On boot, no Market.
Went to restore the old one, rebooted, no market.
Now I try to install the new one in the system/app with the .apk, and it simply says Application not installed.
Any chance I can get the old .apk just in case mine is faulty, or any advice?
Thanks fellas!
Did you try clearing the data for the Market app thru Titanium Backup first?

How is this done?

Should have thought about clearing Data before I tried anything. But now it's a little too late as I don't have the option to clear out the data. It just won't respond to the key press.
I downloaded the Vending.apk app from the original thread trying to get the market to work on the nook, and it is simply telling me that the Application could not install, again.
I really don't want to have to reset/reroot again, as I have had to do it for 6 units already and I just want to play on my new toy!
Any suggestions?

Yep, same here
So Im wondering if this is a general bug or just me:
I am running stock gingerbread installed by OTA, and the stock messaging app. The thing is when I try to delete a thread, it deletes all the messages in the thread but then it doesnt delete the thread itself, instead it just leaves the thread hanging there with no messages and I cant find a way to delete it...
Before the OTA this didnt happen, so Im wondering if this is a bug with the gingerbread stock messaging app or some glitch from the update?!
Could it be something to do with the cache?
Try restarting your phone, or deleting cache?
I've long pressed>delete thread and had the whole entire thread remain, but after deleting it a second time it actually gets deleted...
First of all thanks for the input!
I've rebooted the phone a couple times (mostly because I ran out of battery ) and still no go.
I've also tried deleting it over and over again, and still no go!
When you say delete cache, which cache do you mean exacly? Because on the applications menu I dont get an active clear cache button for the messaging app, just a clear data (which Im afraid will delete my message settings or even my messages)...
I just checked, on my phone and your right, cache isn't an option.
Clearing app data probably will delete everything too.
Idk, sorry.
So I deleted all of my message threads by using the "delete threads" option in the messaging app menu, and now I am able to delete the new threads!
Must have been some issue with importing the threads from 2.2.2... weird!
I am running mosaic V and have a issue I have not hit before on android. I do not think its related to mosaic as I have not seen any post about that in the forum.
My problem is that titanium backup does not see any of my new apps that I install from the market. It sees all of my old apps but zero I have installed lately. I have switched versions of titanium backup with no success.
If I go into system/apps I do not see them either but they are installed. Anyone run into this?
Have you cleared cache and dalvik? hit the "problems?" Button in tibu and update su?
And user apps are installed in /data/app not /system/app
please use the already made Q&A threads.
