recovery from there and then flash any rom we want and everything you
need to know is on the wiki page but i cant find anything on the wiki here.
i really dont know where to start i was reading about cf-root but i cant find

Essentially you need to find a CF ROOT that is JVD, as this will cause no problems. But i don't think there is one... you can use other JV versions ie JVB or JVO or such like but likelyhood is you'll have a few bugs like no BT or camera.

Link should teach you everything you need to know.
Could always try Superoneclick but i doubt it will work.

first, this needs to be in Q&A - development section is for development.
the easiest way to root the tab is to use super one click root. there is a howto in this forum (use search).
as far as roms, there are a couple - rotohammer's seems to be the most used.
but search and test. just read everything before attempting to do anything. also read the giant sticky at the top of this thread.
Oh ... im sorry, i thought i would be in the QA Section ... toooo much tabs open ...
And i did read them and i understand most of it but some parts are a bit unclear to me ...
I got Root now and want to flash a Rom but at the same Time my Kies want to upgrade my Firmware. Is there anything i need to beware to update or can i just update and still get root?
Thanks for your help and i hope any mod can switch this T_T ... im so sorry!
i would hold off on using kies. there are some updates that contain signed bootloaders and then you get stuck and cant flash anything. so i suggest using roms found here that do not include signed bootloaders.
hello everyone
can someone please help me out here with this problem im facing, i have searched everywhere i cant find anything on it :/
i have gt i9000 and its running froyo
i need to update it to GB without rooting it. when i connect to KIES it dznt shows the update.
can someone PLEASE help me out here?
thanks a lot
hi.
you don't need to root in order to upgrade, there is a way to upgrade through kies that involve registry editing, but is too messy and personally I haven't been able to make it work not even once! if you want you could try to do that, search in the forum kies registry editing or something like that..
the other way, and plain simple, is flash whatever gb rom you like through odin, go to samfirmware, sammobile (is the same, and you have to create an account) and download the one you like. there is a thread in the forum that also post the download links of the stock roms ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846913&highlight=stock+rom) then flash it and that's it... after you finish flashing, the phone wont be rooted or anything..
there are plenty of tutorials on how to flash a rom through odin, and it really isn't complicated at all...
remember to backup all your info, even tough the info on the internal sdcard wont be erased.
and as always and as everybody in this forum, i'm not responsible for anything!
(if i'm wrong in anything feel free to correct me)
Thanks a lot m8!
I've read several threads over the last few days and I'm a little confused. I want to make sure I'm on the right track before I use the wrong recovery files.
I rooted my tab(verizon) by using heimdall and applied a stock gingerbread rom with root. now I need to get clockworkmod recovery but when I download it from the market it doesn't list the galaxy tab as a choice to flash the recovery.
I read want to know if I need to use ADB to get CWM Recovery? Is Rom Manager for Froyo only? Is there a Gingerbread version? Will the CWM apply ext4?
I need these answered so I can then move to ICM on my tab as I read that I need CWM and Ext4.
If anyone can answer me that would be a big help. I searched a lot so if I missed something very easy, I'm sorry. I read the Q&A, but I am still left with unanswered questions.
Thanks
Just hemindal miui, and it will give correct cwm
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda premium
I used the ICS rom for jt1134 on rootzwiki there are instructions there. Sorry can't post links yet.
Edit there is also the latest CWM to flash with heimdall.

Hey Guys! Im going to explain how i got my self in this situation
I got my new Note 2 days ago and decided to root it at first. (KK4)
Which i did but not with CWM Manager so i used the InitialCFRootFlasher to get CWM Manager working.
Then i used Odin to flash the XLA4 on my device so i could get the RocketRom after that. But now when i want to go inte CWM Recovery mode to do a Nandorid backup i just get to the original recovery mode. And when i open CWM manager it says that i need a CF-Root V5.0 or newer.
What should i do? Really didnt know how to search for this so sorry if there already is a thread about this.
Please help me out guys
Dont wanna ruin my phone because i didnt know better
Thanks in advance!
Keep calm mate, don't worry.
I just wonder if your phone is properly rooted or not. If it is ok, you can download and flash CF-Root for LA4-v5.0 here http://download.chainfire.eu/140/CF-Root/SGN/CF-Root-SGN_XX_OXA_LA4-v5.0-CWM5.zip
If not, you can read clearly this topic, thanks to CF to solve your problem:

If you have use PC odin to get LA4(and seems you did it), then simply, you have lost Root + CWM.
N LA4 is not necessary b4 Rocket ROM.
If above is true, you have just option to downgrade n Re root + CWM
Oh, didnt see the replies before i edited it, i solved the problem just like u described in ur post taycuong76
didnt scroll down enough to see that there was a CF-root for the LA4
thx anyway love to see the great support and that everybody wants to help even if there already is a thread about this. Just makes me more satisfied with switching from the toy iphone 4 to a real phone
Got rocketrom on my phone now, just amazing that there are so many custom ROMs to choose from
Thanks again guys
EDIT: "unEdited" my thread for anybody that find themselves in this sitauation
Just dont panic like i did
im having so many issues on whether or not to root my Gnote for cyangoenmod. now from what i can tell on a video on rootgalaxynote.com i can root from my phone simply by downloading 2 files and running them from the reboot screen, i get this far. but i dont understand what clockworkmod is or why he uses it to"flash roms and kernals".
i cant understand why he uses this or exactly what it is i also dont get why he downloads franco kernel if he doesnt need it. what does that do? i have read sooooo many threads and posts on this but just cant understand it past here. why do i have to be on gingerbread? im on 4.0.4 xxlrk. cant i just root and flash? do i have to flasy CM7 to slowly upgrade to 10? and how do i even do that? Feel like such a noob, because i am just wanna make the most of my note any help.... INCREDIBLY appreciated.

i started rooting based on that video about 3 months ago, and now i am an addicted ROM flasher!
first and foremost, follow zedomax instruction on how to root without computer
ClockWorkMode (CWM) is necessary to be installed in order for you to install/flash ROMs and Kernels. Without CWM, you wont be able to install custom ROMs and Kernels directly from phone. you will be needing Computer.. which i would like to avoid as much as possible.
as for what is ROMs and Kernels.. the answer is here somewhere in XDA.
as for franco, it was advisable to install the kernel, as it helps on battery life and performance. i think there are latest version of franco Kernel anyways... you can search this forum as well...
if you follow the steps shown in the video, you don't have to be on GingerBread (GB).
and since you are already in ICS, then you can go directly to CM9, then proceed to CM10...
happy flashing!:fingers-crossed:
