[Q] USB/Auto Rotation problem in Galaxy S - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hallo,
I have Oct/2010 Galaxy S bought from Germany. I have the 3 button recovery mode enable model. So following are the problems I am facing simultaneously...but first the story how it begins...
The day it started
I was making a video of my girl when she was taking a shower..lol..she caught the phone and tried to snatched it...and in this bloody joke act, the phone fell off in the sink about 1-1.5 feet below. I immediately took it and checked if everything was ok. I found that the home screen was fixed to horizontal display, and wouldn't change even after numerous re-starts or rese/selecting the automatic rotation option.
Problems
1. Stuck Horizontal Display
The phone is 99% time stuck to horizontal display with exception of the call log or dialer option or games which run only in portrait mode. Auto-rotation selection-deselection and horizontal calibration doesn't help at all. *Till 2-3 days back, if the phones battery is exhausted and switches off automatically, and then if the charging USB cable is connected, the phone restarts and turns normal to the normal portrait mode*. And stays like this till the next manual restart. Now, this is also not working anymore. I can play the accelerometer games perfectly, those also which run in portrait mode only. Also, the phone never charges if it is switched off..I mean if you connect charger USB cable/power cable when the phone is switched off...the phone turns on and then start to charge. Before(when all was ok), I had this big battery indicator on screen while at the time of switched-off charging. Also, if a power cable charging method is used...the touch screen behaves like crazy and you cant use it at all. You can't even slide to unlock the screen but all the buttons work completely fine. In case of USB cable charging...everything goes normal and I can use the touch screen and buttons like normal.
2. USB Mode
So the USB cable is charging the cellphone whenever connected to any USB port. When connected to a computer, its the wish of the cellphone if its wants to connect or not. The USB mode is detected by a computer/laptop only when the phone is turned on after a complete battery discharge in a normal portrait mode (read the lines above marked with *). That too I have to reinstall the drivers of the phone on the laptop/pc again. All the other times when phone is only have horizontal display, USB mode of any type...mass storage, kies, music player is not detected.
Some how i have upgraded to recently released 2.3.4 XXJVR from my previous 2.3.3 XXJVK but the problem has not gone. It started while using XXJVK only. I have reset everything...erased the phone/sd card memory but nothing happened and also restoring to the factory reset option.
Anyone who can help!!

Try flashing a FULL rom with 3 files and .pit again
Hope it helps

[Q] SGS Switch on issue

Hi,
Yesterday my sgs developed a fault. It can come out with messages saying USB connected or USB debugging connected, slows down, sometimes becomes unresponsive for few seconds. It can switch itself off and when i try to switch it back on comes up with "busy" sign (that spinning wheel) and sometimes is showing empty battery symbol. Only way for it to be switched on is to plug the charger. Battery is fully charged,I know it, cause its plugged in for few hours, i disconnect it, and all of sudden drops dead. Tried today with another battery from my friends sgs but it comes up with same stuff.
Can you help me?
Firmware is stock JPY flashed via odin, not rooted, only with few apps installed on it
Many thanks
Mario
reflash it and wipe factory settings

[Q] Why my SGS dont turn on?

I'm having a very strange issue with my SGS. I have ONE's 8.3 ROM and the device is functional. But, when i shut the phone down i can't turn it on. Every time I shut it down and then try to turn it on by pressing the power button, de loading circle image show up but a few seconds later the screen turns black, and cycle repeats forever.
The only way I am able to turn the phone on is to connect the usb data cable to the phone and an pc usb port where the phone has been connected before (any other port won't do), afterwards the battery starts to charge (even if full) and I can turn the freaking phone on.
Things i've tried:
Changed ROMs (CM7, MIUI, One), changed Kernels, wiped battery stats
Please help me as this is a very strange problem.
PS: is my phone is in that infinite cycle, i can enter in download mode but not in recovery
If you can enter download mode then try flashing a stock ROM via Odin.
i already try it and have the same problem with stock rom
I think your proximity sensor is not working anymore.
A friend of mine got a similar problem.
His phone won't wake up after having a call.
He only was able to turn it on by connecting it with USB or AC.
I also think you have to send it in for repair.
I'm sorry mate, but that's my solution
Well, maybe someone got a better one.
but my sensor its working perfectly i think inst it... :/

Strange problem Charger/software

hello, I have a problem with my phone, started about a week ago.
I'm not sure if it's a hardware or software problem.
the phone was charging (with official HTC wall charger) with the screen off, when suddenly lights up the screen and start the application "CAR". When full load, I disconnected the charger and used it normally. few hours after a notice appeared that could not load the phone. also several times when the screen is off, the display turns on by itself without touching anything.
also sometimes when I wanted to charge the phone, the red LED is not lit and the system marked as that is charging, but if you restarted the phone, it worked.
sometimes appears Charger notice being disconnected from the charger.
I tried cleaning the micro usb input with a brush, but no change.
Another odd thing I noticed, on the main screen if I turn the phone 180 degrees, the screen turns on, even if I turn off the rotating screen.
it's like this on a dock mode or something.
Yesterday I did a full wipe and it was not any of this, but after loading it returned to it.
Someone happened something similar? which may be the problem?
I have HTC one developer edition, using the ARHD ROM 12.2 with the latest firmware.
Sorry for my English, google translator helped me: P
THANKS

[Q] my sister's samsung galaxy note 1 won't tturn on

her phone suddenly shut down and won't open again, only showing samsung, then she pressed the home button, down volume, and the lock button, then chose download custom os
later she kept charging it but nothing happed for 3 hours the screen says it is downloading, pleasehelp
Could you add a screen capture pc? Since the problem may be that error on the PC, in that case could be due to use USB cable, or pc USB port. Meyor problem seems not.
I suffered that mistake for months, and was one fault of the USB cable, giving minimal disconnections that cut the same facility, although the mobile waits, never end for that reason, because you need the complete installation from the pc, then when you restart the phone and the pc would not problems.

Mi 8 Phone will not turn on at all, no charge - LineageOS 17.1

Essentially, been using LineageOS ROMs since I got this phone two years ago, everything had been working just fine and generally happy with this phone.
The story starts that I had just charged my phone overnight, had woken up, unplugged it and was looking at my notifications.
Opened a WhatsApp notification, instantly the launcher seemed to crash and was unresponsive, although the notification tray was functioning still. Tried to turn off the phone via the power menu, device did not shutdown. Forced power off on the phone, phone turned off.
Immediately I was unable to turn the phone back on. Tried recovery, fastboot boot methods and the device would not turn on at all. The screen is black and the device not responding to anything power related button combinations. When I plug the device into power, no charging light appears on the phone, the screen doesn't turn on at all with the typical charging animation when it's in the off state. When I plug the device into my Ubuntu machine, no USB device is detected by the kernel - as though nothing is plugged in at all. When I plugged it into my battery pack however, it did appear that it detected a device and flashed it's LED as though it was charging a device that was plugged into it.
I had not wet the device, or *recently* dropped it. It lives in a pretty reasonable case and has stood the couple years of my use with essentially no scratches other than some very minor abrasions on the screen.
I have a little phone electronics tool kit and a hair dryer, and as the battery was fully charged before this had occurred, I decided to pull the phone apart and disconnect the battery from the mainboard behind the NFC assembly. I also tried disconnecting the power charging circuitry in case something was shorting in that area - still nothing. Left the device with the battery unplugged from the mainboard for 5 days, and just tried it again - still no dice.
I'm just wondering if anyone knows what the cause might be. At this stage, I'm suspecting a mainboard failure, in which case data recovery seems unlikely. I have had over two years out of the device, it's far from the end of the world. I'm reluctant to spend any money trying to repair it particularly if it's the mainboard, I'll lose my data anyway. If I were able to retrieve the data from the device that would be of some benefit to me, about a weeks worth of photos and some chat history with my GF; so some questions I have:
1. Should I be able to power on the device with a USB C cable plugged in but the battery unplugged?
2. Apart from what happened above, does anyone have any suggestions about the cause remembering that it doesn't turn on into any boot mode at all?
Do you have any windows device?

No I don't sorry. I also bought a new battery for the Mi 8, the device still didn't turn on or charge. I think I can safely say the phone is cactus.
