im rooted now using cf-root...whos using overcome kratos? can i flash overcome directly from stock GB?
The authors of overcome always advice to wipe tab first. You can try directly but don't ask the people in overcome if you damage your tab.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using Tapatalk
You will still loose all data anyway as kratos needs to format part of internal sd card to ext4. Easier to do a backup of contacts, sms and apps then restock and go then flash kratos...
I installed the Kratos rom right over my stock Gingerbread install. It worked fine and I did not loose any data or apps. You just have to make sure to get the no wipe version of the file.

When my SGN was in ICS Criskelo v3 I did the following steps suggested by this forum
1. download AbyssNote 4.2 kernel and place it on your internal/external SD Card
Also download the GB Rom you want to install and put it on your SD card.
2. reboot to CWMR and do a backup of your current system
3. after your backup is done, stay in Recovery
4. go to install a zip from SD card --> select AbyssNote 4.2 zip and flash it
5. go back to CWMR's root menu --> advanced --> reboot recovery
6. you'll find yourself in AbyssNote's Recovery
7. factory reset --> wipe cache --> wipe dalvik
9. flash the GB Rom of your choice
10. reboot and let the Rom settle for a couple of minutes
It worked for my SGN. I am not sure if it will work with your ICS rom.

I am not sure if it is safe, but I reverted to GB from LPY using PC odin.
No problem.
I'm in a similar situation: stock LPY, rooted with temp CWM. The thing is that I did a full wipe with stock recovery a few days ago. How could I know if my eMMc is damaged? being a flashaholic in rehab, i don't want to risk my note... is it safe for me to flash, say, singapore LC2 with pc Odin??

Hi Everyone,
I have the Samsung galaxy p1000 tablet which is rooted and running stock firmware version 2.3.3 ....i have rooted it using doomslord toolkit....
.....I want to install cm9 on my tab....but i want to make sure everything is good before i start doing anything.......
i tried downloading overcome but download stopped everytime.......
i have downloaded overcome kernel 4.0.0.tar though.....
i want clockwork mod recovery on my tab.....how can i do that?
i am on stock firmware so do i need to restock it through overcome......or flashing the overcome kernel would do it all....
should i flash the overcome kernel only......is it feasible to use that kernel for stock firmware.....will the kernel convert tab into ext4 thereby making it possible to flash cm9
please help me over this......
Thanks..
I did that before, flash the kernel, wait for the conversion to ext4, reboot and flash cyanogen mod. For me it worked for installing AOKP mtd.

Thanks salahmed......but one more question...was ur stock firmware rooted when u flashed the kernel cause that's what is bothering me...and how do i return to my original device clean firmware once i am using cm9....
Thanks once again...

You can always restock using overcome stock safe.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA
I have some free time today and so i will flash the rom today.....
Are these the steps i should follow???
1. Flash the overcome kernel only without restocking....
2. let it convert the system into ext4....and let it reboot after it...
3. Then shut down the tab and press volume down and power buttons at the same time till the clockworkmod recovery shoots up....
4. Then navigate to ' install from zip' and select AOKP BUILD 37(decided to flash AOKP) zip file....let it flash and then flash kernel(which kernel should i flash????? or does the AOKP zip contain it and hence it should be automatically flashed)
5. Then flash gapps.....
6. when it's done ....reboot
questions....
when should i wipe dalvik cache and data( before flashing AOKP zip or after that)
?????
also i read somewhere that i can revert back to original samsung firmware by flashing original samsung firmware via odin with "repartion checked".....
After flashing overcome kernel go to recovery wipe cash, dalvic cash, factory reset format data, then flash AOKP, the kernel is included 'z image' , then reboot system let it to complete booting, then reboot recovery again and flash gapps.
And that's right you can revert back with re partition but I did not try it.

I returned to Gingerbread from CM9 with stock safe team overcome files... My tab works correctly, but I can't install Firefox...
I checked in sammobile to find official firmware... I find 2 file:
Italy (TIM) 2012 January 2.3.6 P1000AIJQ1 P1000TIMJQ1
Italy 2011 May 2.3.3 P1000XXJQ1 P1000OXAJQ1
I haven't TIM version, so I think I must install 2.3.3... Is it correct??? Can I istall 2.3.6 and remove all TIM brand???
How to install this firmware???
Thank
All of that for Firefox?
Just download the apk and install it,

Agreed. Sorry to ask, but you successfully flash CM9, and successfully restocked back to GB-Stock-safe -- that's not an easy task.
But you can't get firefox running? (I'll try to download firefox with ICS AOKP and with 2.3.3. open asia version my friend has and let you know).
GB-Stock-safe IS 2.3.3 JQ1, so there shouldn't be much difference 'Italy 2011 May 2.3.3 P1000XXJQ1 P1000OXAJQ1'
So if you can't get it running on GB-Stock-safe, you may not be able to get it running on P1000XXJQ1 as well.
EDIT: Firefox is still on BETA while android is already on jellybean??? -- wow you are really a loyal fan of Firefox.
Firefox on 2.3.3 and CM9, downloaded from google play, started up nicely. --If you restore from titanium backup, you might want to redownload from google play store.
If you move from CM9 to gingerbread, many apps restored from titanium backup wouldn't be able to start correctly.
With GB from team overcome I can't download and install firefox from play store, because my version isn't supported... But with original firmware I downloaded it correctly... Why? Maybe team overcome modified some stuff...
I liked chrome in CM9, but with 2.3.3 I can't install it unfortunately...

Hey, even i shifted from cm9 to gingerbread with lot of pitfalls and difficulties.. now i restored my apps using titanium backup.. whenever i open my menu i.e my app drawer the restored apps are not displayed... when i exit and open the menu again they are displayed... what is wrong with my tab ?
now i have a problem..
i rooted my tab using cfroot which installed the clockworkmod version 3.0, then i made a backup of my stock rom i.e gingerbread 2.3.3 using the nandroid backup method i.e going into the recovery mode and manually making a backup..
then later on i flashed cm9 onto the tab. since i was not so pleased by it i thought of flashing back to the stock rom using the recover option in the recovery mode..
when chose that option, everything went wrong.. Note , i did not wipe any cache, or user data or dalvik cache.
whenever i tried to boot my tab, it was stuck at the boot screen..
now i have installed a stock rom of some other country and have both the backup i.e backup of stock rom and cm9 as well...
My question is that whether i would be able to get back my backed up stock rom and how ??
Secondly, how to perform a complete backup of rom and flash back to it in any case ?
Please help.. !!
thanks in advance..
3 facts, that I know
- you cannot use Titanium Backup to restore to different OS, ( from ICS to GB was what you did), it is meant for same OS version
- to return to non MTD rom from CM9 MTD, a full restock is required, that means flashing GB from with pit file and repartition checked,
- Overcome recovery can't take reliable nandroid backup. CM9 one is OK. I never tried cfroot one.

As i said that I rooted my gt-p1000 using cfroot. it installed clockworkmod v3.0. I took a backup of my stock rom. Then later on I restored the stock rom from the recovery mode.
everything went fine, and the restore was complete. but when my tab started to boot, it was stuck at the boot screen.
Later on i performed a full flash using the odin method.. repartitioning...
Then i performed restoring the stock rom again which i had backed up before.. just this time i wiped user data/factory reset and wipe cache partition and this time the restoring worked fine..
my question is that.. i saw videos on youtube about getting a backup using the clockworkmod. they went in the mounts and storage section and wiped data, system and dalvik cache whereas i just wiped user data and cache partition from the main menu... What difference did it make ?? Did i did something wrong..
Note: i have restored my original stock rom which is working fine.

Hey, I used to run Overcome 4.1 on my SGT. I tried an ICS rom for a few days (this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1697589), but I am not satisfied. Question: Can I go back to Overcome by simply restoring my last android backup or do I have to restock and then flash Overcome like the first time I did it?
Thanks!
Yes, backup your internal sd first. you need to get back to non mtd by restocking with pit.
Then you need to install overcome rom.
Then restore.
Having said that..... all my overcome nandroid restore causes non stop FC everywhere.
I had to restore from Titanium Backup instead after fresh overcome.

Do a nandroid & then restock to ext partition and then flash overcome. As priyana said, use titanium backup to restore nandroid, as you cannot restore directly via cwm
Hi all, so I'm currently looking for a way to go back to stock Touchwiz (4.0.3) from CM10.
I'm currently running CM10 and i do have a Nandroid backup from when I was on Touchwiz (and running PhilZ safe kernel), but the thing is I've been running CM10 for a few months and have a lot of new data stored on my phone.
So instead of backing up anything new and just restoring my backup, could i just flash a stock firmware through ODIN or CWM on top of CM10? Or if I tried that would I have to wipe anyway?
Thanks any help appreciated.
going back from custom to stock causes boot loops and a wipe will be necessary. so better do a nandroid backup of th current rom, then when in stock rom, use tb to restore data using the nandroid backup.

Ok this thread is dead but I will have to revive it now because I wanna do the same thing.
I have been on Cm10 and wanted to go to Alliance ROM today. So like a complete idiot I flashed pre-rooted KJ1 gingerbread ROM from Dr.Ketan over my CM10 and got stuck in a boot loop. Luckily had a nandroid backup and now restoring as I type.
What is the correct process to go from CM to stock GB or ICS?
Any and all help is appreciated
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Kaushik
EDIT: I flashed the pre-rooted GB ROM because I wanted to do a full wipe and then flash over to stock ICS and then to Alliance JB ROM.

Either flash using PC odin. after flashing if on GB, boot into recovery and do a factory reset. If on ICS, install a safe kernel (eg,Philz) and reboot recovery and do a factory reset,
OR
Flash a custom GB or ICS rom using recovery after all wipes and formats (system, data, cache)
