Restore root to NC 1.3 update - Nook Color General

Got home today, and my NC had updated to 1.3.
Lost root. Despaired at lack of reliable info on rooting 1.3.
Took a gamble on manualnooter 4.6.16 with CWM.
It rooted 1.3, and other than re-entering my google account for market, everything is working great. SetCPU reports 800MHz (I don't have a need to OC, I use SetCPU for throttling only).
Thought I would add to the anecdotal evidence.
Device history:
Stock 1.0.1 -> upgrade to 1.1 stock
Stock 1.1 -> AutoNooter
When 1.2 came out, restored to factory then upgraded via CWM (from SD).
Stock 1.2 -> ManualNooter 4.6.16 via CWM
automatic update to 1.3 -> lost root
Stock 1.3 -> ManualNooter 4.6.16 via CWM
Added google account info back into Market. Success installing an app...
there was some time between 1.2 and 1.3 (about a month)
Still can't get ADB over USB - haven't tried ADB wireless yet.

So installing MN again to NC 1.3 made your Market working again?

Yes, the Market worked fine, but I had to re-entere my google account/password.
I don't know if it makes any difference, but before the 1.3 upgrade, my Nook was running the new Market release. I did not manually install the Market release, it updated itself.
(sorry if that doesn't read well).

[Q] Few problems after flashing 1.1.0 on rooted NC...

Ok, so I've had a rooted NC for a while with no problems. I even flashed the quickie screamer overclock mod. Well, after I flashed the 1.1.0 update (using Decad3nce's method on the Development Forum), I started having a few problems:
1) My overclock seems to have disappeared. I was stably running up to 900 Mhz on overclock before the update, but after the update, I noticed the browser to be more sluggish. When I ran SetCPU, it reverted back to stock 300-800 Mhz. Can I safely reflash the overclock rom?
2) My Market seems screwed up. When I checked out the new 2.2 market, I noticed that 2 of my apps required updates (Kindle and Titanium Backup). I tried to update, but the apps didn't seem to want to update. In fact, when I looked at the My Apps section in the Market, I could see them on the list as "FREE" instead of "Installed" even though they were, in fact, installed (just the unupdated versions). I managed to even run these apps successfully. I decided to uninstall and redownload. However, when I tried downloading again from the Market, it would appear to try to download but it never does. In fact, when I tried to download other apps that I never had on my NC (Tweet Deck), it would not download at all (but it would also appear in My Apps list as "FREE").
Help please.
1) Yes, it is infact safe to flash the oc kernel again, I recommend the 1100mhz kernel as I have been stable on it for some time.
2) Try clearing the data for the google framework aswell as the cache for the market.

WiFi frequently disconnects on rooted NC (1.1)
I updated my autonootered NC from 1.0.1 to 1.1.0 using the Clockworks mod.
Everything seems to be working well except often when I wake the Nook up, there's no WiFi connection and it doesn't find the connection unless I turn WiFi off and then back on (in which case it'll find it and connect).
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

The 'wifi sleep bug' is reported by many and seems to be unresolved by most ... it is the primary reason many are staying on 1.01 until a really stable root comes around .. the advantages of 1.1 aren't really of much use to me, but YMMV .. the devs here are great!! but be sure you read the whole thread on something before you go for it and be sure if you are one of the first to try someone's work to realize that there is a risk ...

[Q] NC 1.1.0 Rooted -- B&N In store features?

So a co-worker of mine has his up on this and is able to get into the free B&N in store features while I have the same setup as he does but yet cannot see these features. Id really love to be able to use the "Read for free for an hour" feature.
Any ideas on what i can check?
Thanks,
there are a couple of different ways to root on 1.1. did you both use the same method of rooting?
I really want to figure this out as well..I'm on the verge of rooting. I want to know which of the following methods will result in BN in-store features being accessible:
1. Root from 1.0.1 using either:
a. Barebones Nooter
b. Autonooter
And then upgrade via CWM recovery to the stock rooted 1.1 rom....
OR
2. Root via Autonooter 3.0.0 from stock 1.1.
The problem with method 2 is that it is supposedly resulting in a reboot loop if clockworkmod is installed. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I, the coworker, did the following and b&n in store works...
Installed factory 1.0.1.
Autonootered
Installed the prerooted 1.1.0
The OP (and I)did the following and b&n in store does not work...
Installed factory 1.0.1
Sideloaded factory 1.1 update.
Autonooter 3.0

Aha! We have some info here. I just rooted mine with Autonooter but also flashed the prenooted 1.1.0 via Clockwork. In the other thread relating to this issue, another user suggested that this allowed him to have in-store access.
The catch here is that flashing CWR with autonooter 3.0 puts the device into a bootloop with CWR. I used the CWR remover tool to get rid of that.
After work in about 2 hours or so, I'll try to stop by a local BN and see if I have the in-store features.
UPDATE: I tested this out and it worked. Looks the prerooted 1.1 is doing something right.

Or autonooter is doing something wrong.
Maybe autonooter caused all the in store access issues in the first place.
Everyone thought b&n 1.1 fixed it, but maybe since no one was autonootering 1.1 until recently, autonooter didn't have a chance to break it.
Looks like whatever autonooter does, the preroot 1.1 fixes.
Not necessarily. There is another thread in here, but I have 1.1v2 and no instore features.
-1.0
-sideloaded 1.0.1
-Nooter v2
-then autonooter
-then flashed 1.1 v2
Leko
I have v2 and no in store either.
Bought stock 1.0
updated to 1.01
autonootered
prerooted 1.1r2
cwr to 1.1 ghz rom
Went to B&N today and no in-store special access to B&N features.
Did you guys without in store features after rooting, use the in store features before rooting?
What worked for me, before updating a clean 1.0.1 to 1.1, I used the in store features, then sideloaded 1.1 then used autonooter 3.0. I tried in store features afterwards and it works for me.

I restored my NC to stock 1.0.1. Sideloaded 1.1.0. Prepped Auto-Nooter 3.0 on a microSD and then I went to a physical BN store. Had in-store features with my 1.1.0 unrooted and downloaded a book to read. Then I used my microSD with Auto-Nooter to root my 1.1.0 NC in the BN store (lol). After rooting, I had Market, Youtube, etc... but lost in-store.
My NC came with 1.0.1, I sideloaded 1.1 and rooted with Autonooter 3. Today, I finally had a chance to go to a B&N store to test the "in store" function. NC connected to store WiFi immediately and a popup message told me that I could read certain books for up to 1 hour in the store and provided a link to those books. Then, "shop" interface opened showing many books and an "in store" banner at the corners of them. Under the "price" button, there was another one that said "read in store". So far, everything was fine and I was getting ready to read it... When I tapped on the read in store button, another window showed up with a progress bar, a cancel button and a continue button; however, the bar never progressed and the continue button was grayed out (the only available button was "cancel" which took me back to the store). I tried this with 8-10 books, but the results were the same. I guess it is safe to assume that I dont have the in store functions any more

Issues with the update 1.2

I rooted my nook using MN 4.5.6 after I updated to 1.2
My device failed to reboot after I updated the flash player to 10.3, I suggest that no one does that.
Flash only works with built-in browser, for example if you install Dolphin browser it won't work on it.
I'm unable to update the market app like i have done in the past, thus the problem with tilting the device sideways to load more apps still remains.
Anyone has a solution to any of these issues?
bump bump bump
I wish I could be of some help, but at least I can reply as to whether I'm having the same issue.
My (well it's technically my wife's) NC came with 1.1
I updated that to 1.2 from the barnes & noble site, then rooted it with the latest manual nooter (4.5.18 I think.)
I did not update flash however, and flash works just fine in Dolphin HD.
The easiest thing to do would probably be to just flash to stock and then re-root it. You'll end up losing stuff, but it's probably the most sure-fire way to get back to a working state.
Edit: I have no idea what can be done about the market issue. I'm having that as well and it's kinda irritating.

No Market Functionality with 1.3 & MN 4.6.16 - Please Help!

After the original 1.3 update broke the root, I re-flashed 4.6.16 and all was well, I downloaded & installed from market and everything was just fine....until recently.
I am still using my 3 installed apps without issue (overdrive, kobo & kindle), but I am unable to download new apps or updates. The download seems to happen, but I get an "!" in the notification area telling me that the app/update was not downloaded.
Last night, I used settings to clear market data, I uninstalled the market update (rolled from 3.0.27 back to 2.3.*) and re-booted, and still no luck. Then I tried a full restore from Titanium backup of all settings/app data from when it was successfully re-rooted with market working, re-booted and still nothing.
Could I flash 4.5.25 over what I have? Then re-flash 4.6.16, would that fix things? Does anyone else have this problem?
I searched the threads but no one else seems to have lost all market functionality.
Any help is greatly appreciated - I need to update some apps and I would like to add some more. Now it's just a reader and....a reader. I would hate to wipe it and set it up all over again.
Thanks!
I Gave Up....
....Restored 1.2, Flashed 4.6.16 and market is back and operational. I deleted the pre-installed flash 10.* using TB, then downloaded flash 11 from the market.
I then changed "auto" to "manual" to block the ota 1.3 update which I assume is inevitable. I followed the instructions found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946969
All seems well -- but that last thread is kind of old, I am hopeful nonetheless.
Does anyone know if my problems are solved? I did not reboot for fear of the boot loop.
I don't care about whatever B&N 1.3 does, 1.2 with full market is much happier for me.

[Q] [NC][1.2][1.3] ManualNooter 5.12.19

Since this BBS considers me a noob, I am posting to this forum instead of the developer forum.
There has been some excellent work done on updating the ManualNooter to support the latest Nook Color software release 1.4.1. GMPOWER posted a new ManualNooter version 5.12.19 that rolls up all of the previous versions plus the tweaks to get 1.4.1 working on the NC.
I started with a stock 1.3 then updated to 1.4.1 before applying MN 4.15.15 then MN 4.6.16 before changing the permissions allowing 3rd party apps. Of course Market and the B&N Shop didn't work as documented. Next I tried 4.6.16 without success before applying GMPOWER's 4.15.19. Now I can download purchased items from the Shop but none of the Google apps work including Market.
I know that billingdl was able to get everything working doing something similar to me, but I can't seem to get the Google apps working. They fail when loading so I assume that it is a problem with them trying to authenticate my account. I would have gone back to a stock NC last night if I would have found the link to the one-click factory restore and tried just applying 4.15.19. Does anyone have any idea on how I can get the Google apps working again?
Thanks,
Mark

I understood the "secret" to GMPOWER's mn-5-12-1X was that it did NOT incorporate some of the database mods that the previous versions did. If you ran the previous versions, they broke things, in other words. I was in the same situation, and actually did the factory reset then just ran GMPOWER's latest. Everything is working fine now.
What method did you use for a factory reset. There are about 3 of them out there. A couple of days ago I saw a link for one-click reset, but now I can't find it.
Thanks bobstro!
I stopped being lazy and took my NC back to a stock 1.4.1 then applied GMPOWER's fix. Market and Gmail work along with the B&N Shop downloads. I still can't get the Google search widget to open up in a browser though. Now I have the fun of restoring all of my apps to the NC. At least everything work. Thanks to bobstro for the nudge and GMPOWER for his excellent work.
