Does anyone know how to keep the light on during calls?
I am so over this phone, the light won't even stay on whilst I'm clicking options on a menu during a call, I have to constantly turn it back on again, and when I've finished a call I turn it back on to end the call and it comes on and off again!
Why can't I turn the light on and off when I want?
I have the screen time-out set to two minutes, but that doesn't work during a call, it's more like 30 seconds.
Are you rooted ?
Which Rom are you on ?
Try....settings-call settings-keep screen awake
Hi Pete ... yes it's rooted, I use Milkys ROM.
I've checked the setting you mentioned but it's not there, apparently it disappeared after 2.2.1.
However, I did Google "keep screen awake", and found an app called "Stay awake", all I need now is someone to call me!
Thanks.
Well im on GingerBread 2.3.4 and the options there for me, but with that being said im on Insanity Rom. But glad you got fixed up.

I tried a bunch of searching and just keep finding stuff about trackball wake, trackball colors, etc.
My problems is that my trackball will only light up on an incoming call, nothing else. Not email, text (even with Handcent), or tweets.
I was previously running CM 5.0.6, which they all worked then. Of course I updated to Froyo this weekend (Thanks Paul!!), with a full wipe. I have also reflashed Pauls new Froyo with no radio this morning with no change.
Any ideas?

OK, evidently the trackball will only light up for me when the screen is off. So try this. Download handcent, send a test notification to your phone, but don't click ok, simply shut off the screen and see if the trackball lights up.
Also, I don't know how some people are managing to get it to light up with the screen on, because as soon as my screen powers on the notification dissapears. I remember in Cyanogen there was an option to pulse while the screen was on, but so far I've been unable to find it in the stock FroYo build. Anybody have any suggestions?
got it all worked out now.
I had to turn off quick reply in Handcent. It was turning on the screen and therefore not allowing the trackball to light up. I just sent a text with screen off and it worked ok. I guess the "test notification" in Handcent is not 100% yet. I havent seen an option to pulse while screen was on either...dont think its there, yet.
Im not sure why this is doing this. I upgraded my fathers phone, rooted it, and placed liquid rom on the phone.
If i assign a shortcut to call a contact for instance, i click on the contact and it takes close to 4 to 5 seconds for it to goto the dial screen?
Also, doesnt the hero come with a sensor for turning off the screen while on a phone call?
If i remove my phone from listening by my ear, the screen stays black until i hit the end button?
My dad swears it wasnt this way before lol
The Hero does not have a sensor to end a call on it's own, just the Eris.

The Hero does have a setting to turn the screen off during a call, some ROMS also have a setting where you can choose what the power button does during a call. Mine, for instance, is set to end the call when I press power, and wake the screen when I press menu. Just play around with the settings in the ROM's settings, sometimes they are not default.
What radio are you using?
Im not sure, i will have to check.
I figured the ota i did updated the radio, im a EVO guy myself
but what i will do is grab a new radio and flash it
you guys know what the latest version is?
I've installed Liquid 1.9.2 on my wifes D1 along with a CHEVYNO1 kernel. It works really well. The only thing is while she is talking on the phone it periodically vibrates. It's driving her crazy.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem? I have searched the web and have found no solutions other than completely disabling vibration altogether.
Please help.
Does it vibrate every 45 seconds....its a setting in phone....just go to settings > call settings and scroll down.....lotsa options in this rom

Thanks, but I've already tried that.
I've done some more messing around and discovered that it is the proximity sensor causing the problem. Whenever the phone comes away from her face the screen comes back on and the phone vibrates. Is there a setting for this? I've looked at all of the settings and haven't seen anything obvious. Does anyone have any Ideas? She just wants the phone to stop vibrating.
Thank you
I doesn't actually have anything to do with the proximity sensor. The problem persists even when the phone is on speaker phone. It also seem that the longer the call goes the worse it vibrates.
My wife has a CDMA Hero which I rooted and installed CM7 on. It is running great, for the most part, except for the fact that she can't press the phone to her face when she is calling someone (she finds this a bit annoying). This is due to the fact that the phone app (or I guess it's really an activity for you developer folks) that runs during the call has a great big "END" button that is easily pressed when she puts the phone against her cheek.
I understand that the Hero does not use a proximity sensor to shut off the screen (I suppose that's why it has the answer and hangup buttons). I have tried installing other "Dialer" apps, but they don't actually change the app (activity) that shows during the call itself.
So, I have two questions:
1) What is the name of the app/activity that runs while a call is in progress?
2) Are there any alternatives for phones such as the Hero?
The screen should timeout in a few seconds and the screen will turn off.
Which version of CM7 are you running? Perhaps try the dialer one app in the market, there might be some bug in the cm7 one.

I think it's 7.0.3, I'll have to check when I get home. I should probably update to 7.1 and see if that doesn't fix the issue.
I have tried installing a number of different dialer apps, but they don't actually change the screen you see when the call is in progress. It's always the stock screen.
like the other guys mentioned, the screen should time out after a bit, but just make sure ur screen time out is set to 30 seconds or less and under call settings make the box is not checked where it says "stay awake longer than normal"
My screen shuts out after 30 seconds, which is set under the display settings then I just wake it by pressing menu button if needed.
Good luck

Hi emstemmed XDA team..
Here is a problem I need an answer too as it's driving me nuts..
Just spent half a day on it and still haven't found an answer..
Problem: I have Truephone installed as my default call option..
When phone is in Lock screen mode..I get a call..
Call come in.. but..
Samsung (or android) is deciding that it needs to tell me that Truephone is in full screen mode..and it rattles on about the navigational buttons ..
The problem with this is that as it is the lock screen it's like a pop up. And won't let me answer a call..
I swipe it away but as it's persistent it will leave me at log in screen..which by this time I have lost call.. d
Do you think I can find where to time this dam thing off .
Not so far I have not found it in notifications .
True phone has all the correct permissions .
Notifications turn off or in has no effect on it .
I have got a work around via a sound button and or using the headphones to answer a call. But dam..do you think..?
New phone with android 10..
Hope that makes sense .
In a nut shell..it's a system pop up that won't go away and its dam hard to find where to turn it off .
go to setting and search "appear on top", open "appear on top" and allow the truephone caller to appear on top. and disable default phone app to appear on top.
Will be interesting to see if any of the tweaks worked..
Won't be able to test until tomorrow as got a Bud coking in and I can use his phone to call me a few times and test it .
I had that setting in place already..
So I am wondering if maybe goodlock might be the one..or always on..
I have pretty much turned everything off now and will slowly add back in once I know it's gone .
But it's been a hard one to find .
A few screen shots of what I have got at moment..
Ok. finally..a fix..
What it was is a first time setup Android notification that needs 3 swipes to get rid of..
It is a notification that says the on screens buttons are going to be hidden because the app (Truephone ) is working in full screen mode.
Then it gives up an arrow to swipe from bottom..
Sounds good .but..
Swipe up to get anything and that first screen will jump to unlock code ... And call drops.
So you just have to play with someone calling you and or another phone next to you and call yourself a few times..
Work your way through 3 screens of notifications from android..
Then it stops.
What stupid engineer thought it was fine to make someone go through 3 swipes before it stops. Idiot. ..
Hope this saves someone a week of trying all other fixes..as nothing in Google on it.
Thanks to XDA..!!!
